  • My retina display has the top task bar burnt into the screen?

The top and bottom task bar looked to be burnt into the screen on my MacBook Pro Retina Display.  Is this possible or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

  • Firefox 8.0 occasionally disappears from task bar when minimized but keeps running

Running Firefox 8.0 on Windows XP, have 12 tabs open. Occasionally, when I minimize Firefox, it disappears from the task bar. I know that Firefox is still running because one of the open tabs is a radio station stream on Silverlight. The only way to get Firefox back is to click a link in an email then Firefox will open in a new tab (it is my default browser)

I am guessing it is because you minimise Firefox to the Windows Xp task bar but have ot either locked that or set it to be on top so it may disappear from view.
When the task bar is visible left click any space area on the taskbar the popup will have options including
    * '''''lock task bar''''' if you tick that the task bar stays the same size
    * '''''properties''''' if you click on that you get other options for customising the task bar

  • Disappearing Dock & Task Bar Icons

I just installed OSX 6.8 on my MacBook Pro.  Now some of the items in the dock no longer appear with their icons.  The dock has a few blank spaces in it, but if you mouse over the blank space the identifying text appears.  Same thing is true for the Task Bar that you get when you hit Command-Tab.  Any ideas?

Are those items Apple applications or 3rd party apps you installed and perhaps moved to a custom location?
Do the dock icons still work or not?

  • Firefox 4 is not appearing in Task bar or some times it is Disappearing from task bar when i am minimising the window. so, i had to go to Task manager and find the icon. Its becoming big messy if tabs are not found , to switch programmes.

firefox icon is missing from "Task bar"when i am minimising the window

I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?

  • Bluetooth icon disappeared in task bar

  • Charging sleeve on 4510L has disappeared into the unit....

    Is this a warranty issue?

I don't understand your question.  Could you please elaborate on what you mean by the charging sleeve of the 4510L?  All that comes to mind is the felt pouch that protects it from scratches.
Maybe you are referring to the charging USB port?  VZW doesn't tend to be too lenient on physical damage to the devices.  Someone would have had to press beyond normal wear and tear to break the charging port to a point where it disappears into the device.  You can try your luck with VZW support but I'd bet they charge you for part if not a total replacement device.

  • Monitor symbol disappeared in Task bar

    Hallo -
I have installed ML, no issues, also Airplay works. Just one thing is confusing me. The Monitor symbol in the upper Taskbar (where Time Machine, Battery ... Time and so on is shown) is disappeared. I have seen that :-) before and I used it to enable Airplay mirroring.
In the previous versions, it could be checked on in System preferences but now I do not find a checkbox anymore :-(
Would be nice if I could have it back
    Ronald

I miss that symbol a lot, because I could switch the external monitor (for example a beamer on presentations) from sync to extend monitors, what was extremely handy.
For example I switched it to "sync" when I showed my customers how a software worked, so they could see the same what I see on my screen. Then I started a keynote presentation, which is better if the displays are not synced but "extended", or if I want them to shwo something different on the beamer than on my screen.
If this has removed by intend, I will write a feedback as this feature is very important to me. Removing such features hurt a lot, especially if you often have used them.

  • Elements has disappeared

I have two photoshop programs. CS5 and elements 7 up until two days ago they both were running fine. however i resently up graded the system and now Photoshop elements isnt working. It is in the control panel but when I click on the icon it says adobe wants to configure my computer. when I click yes it does nothing. However CS5 is not showing up in the control panel and when I click on its shortcut icon it works just fine. I use the elements to twick my photography can anyone tell me what has happened?

Are you sure you were working within a Project - and not just an open clip in the Timeline?
Did you create a Project? If you were working in a project, click the film reel icon at the bottom left of your screen to reveal the Project Browser - your project (if you have one) will be in there.
If you opened a clip in the Timelene and were working on it there, it will be in the Event Browser somewhere. When you find it, create a new project in the Project Browser, and select the clip, then press Cmd+D to add it to the project.

  • "Share" word has disappeared from menu bar - can't burn DVD

I know I burned a DVD in the distant past by clicking on "Share - burn DVD" in the menu bar but the word "Share" seems to have disappeared from my menu bar. I upgraded from iPhoto 5 to 6 (I think). What happened to the "Share" word and how do I get it back? If I reinstall from my original discs, won't I get the iPhoto 5 version?? Will my recent photos disappear?? Thanks for any help.

When you're in iPhoto go to the iPhoto menu in the upper left hand corner of the menu bar and select About iPhoto. That will give you the version of iPhoto you have.
If you tried to run an iPhoto 6 updater on iPHoto 5 that may be the reason you're having trouble with iPhoto. Check the version and post back.
If you have iPhoto 6 then go to the View->Show in Tool Bar menu option and see if what you want is checked or unchecked. Those items will show up in the bottom tool bar.
    Do you Twango?

  • Help, my Clock has disappeared from menu bar, how can I get it back ?

Can someone please tell me how to return my clock to the menu bar directly above the Mac HD icon?
I went to system preferences, clicked clock, clicked the date and Time tab and found it set on Show date and time, View in menu bar, view as analog. Under that it said show AM / PM and Show day of the week. These last two selections were printed in pale gray, not in black. On the lower left corner of this date and time tab, was an open lock. I clicked it closed in hopes this action would return my clock to the menu bar. It did not. So I clicked the lock open again. I would very much appreciate someone telling me how to return my clock to the menu bar. Thank you in advance

You should consider updating to 10.4.11,
But perhaps your Mac needs a bit of TLC:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • MACBOOK PRO OS 10.5.8.ust tried to set up new Magic Mouse. Bluetooth has disappeared from menu bar and computer. What gives? How do I get BT back?

I had a wireless Mighty Mouse operating with Bluetooth. It wore out. I bought a new wireless Magic Mouse. Now suddenly there is no Bluetooth in the menu bar nor in my computer's system profiler. How can I set this new wireless mouse up, pair with my Mac, with NO Bluetooth? Where did it go and how can I get Bluetooth back?

    Hello,

Thanks for the reply, but I did a silly thing - or didn't do due diligence:
After updating my AppleTV its setting for Airplay was set to "off".  I just reset it to "on" and all is well in my Airplay-world.
However, thanks to you, I now know how to getting to the Airplay settings - didn't know that before.

  • Cannot open PE 10 from task bar

When I try to open Photoshop Elements 10 from the task bar nothing happens. I have to go to the file location and open it from there. Also, when I try to uninstall the program I'm told to close the Welcome Screen. Problem is, the Welcome Screen is not open.

The two applications are obviously not properly integrated. You may need to raise a support case.

  • Blinking Task Bar

Hi, I've just switched over our entire office to Mac and have been extremely pleased until today. I noticed a little American flag icon in my task bar so I clicked it, and noticed the character map so I was messing around in there. Anyway, my mighty mouse got stuck or someting and I accidentally dragged one of the characters to the desktop. All my folders and icons on the desktop disappeared, my task bar up top just blinks now. When I open an app, it works but just blinks. If I open a new Finder window, it pops up for about 2 seconds and closes itself. At this point I'm just trying to find a way to get to the desktop and see if there is something I need to delete. Can anyone give me some direction here? Like I said I am new to the mac world and feel pretty helpless.
    Thanks in advance,
    Casey
