Elements 7 print selected area only

Have just upgraded from Elements 4 to 7.
Under old version I could easily print a small rectangular selection from a possible A3 print for evaluation before printing the whole thing. There was an option after File>Print to 'Print selected area', after first making a rectangular selection on the image.
Perhaps I am missing something but I cannot find an equivalent command in Elements 7.

Thanks for that, it seems strange that such a useful feature was discontinued - A3 size paper and ink is too expensive to just run tests. Once or twice, having marked a selection using the Marquee tool, I have found that if I click on 'custom' size the selection only will appear in the print preview. Unfortunately it does not always happen and I have no idea of the criteria required to make it do this on demand.

CS6 Photoshop fails to print selected area

PS fails to Print Selected Area, instead it prints an area smaller than the one selected, and it does not center the image on the paper. How can I fix this? The details: image size is 20x24 in. and my selected area is 10x12 in. I am printing to a 13x19 sheet of paper. The image size as printed is 6-5/16 x 9-1/8 in. instead of 10x12, and my selected area is cropped -- unless I check Scale to Fit Print Media but even then the printed image is still the wrong 6-5/16 size. Finally, the visualization is accurate: what is shown in Print dialog is what printed and instead of centering it as requested, the image is printed in the location as displayed. See attached screen shots.

Ask in the PS forum, but as far as I can tell this is a specific Mac-only genuine bug. That being so, duplicate the image and do a "hard" crop for printing.

Sudden loss of print selected area in Photoshop 10.0.1?

Between printing one image and printing the next I seem to have lost the ability to print a selected area in Photoshop 10.0.1. I am using this old program because the new Photoshop does not have that option. The box is now greyed out. Does any know why I could lose this, and what can I do to get it back? This is extremely important to my work method...

Great news! "Print Selected Area" was restored in Photoshop CS6.
Go to File > Print, scroll down in the dialog box that appears, et voila:

Muse edit live sites. Selected areas only.

In Muse turning on this ability seems to allow the client to edit everything on the page.
can this be controlled so that they can only edit selected ares as in business catalyst or dreamweaver?

A clarification: the workaround suggested by Stephen applies to sites published to third-party hosts. For sites published to Adobe Business Catalyst, master page content is also editable.
Could you give examples of content you wouldn't want editable in the browser?

Printing Selected Areas

In Firefox or IE, you may highlight a given portion of any webpage, and there is an option for "printing selection".
How do we do this in Safari? Geez, I was reading an 89 page document without page numbers, and couldn't print the two paragraphs I wanted without printing the whole thing.

A bit late, but basically, you can't in Safari.
To get around this, most people select the part of the page they want then copy it and paste it into a TextEdit document and then print that.
You're not the first (nor last) to notice this omission.
Send feedback to Apple via the Safari menu -> "Report Bugs to Apple..."

I think its not included because, it as a technical challenge that relates to the difference between working on a nice monolithic Grid of rows and columns (easy to define a clean rectangle to print), and a series of possibly overlapping objects whose columns and rows don't line up at all.

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported.

Thanks for your effort but this again clearly does NOT answer my question. I do see a particular problem and that is that I might want to select text and images over a range of multiple pages. In a doc of 20 pages I might want to make a single selection of the text starting PRECISELY at the MIDDLE of page 2 and then continue dragging my selection all the way to PRECISELY the MIDDLE of page 15, thereby selecting all text and images within the precise range of my selection. That is some 13 pages there and I want to print out ONLY THAT selection of text and images. And in that case I cannot use your suggestion with the marquee zoom. Do you get me?

How to print selection only

I saw this question on another forum and realized that I have no idea how to print 'selection only'. The only options in the file>print menu are for the pages desired. I see no way to print only the selected portion of a page. There must be a way, but I do not seem to be able to find the answer.

I tried it with 'Grab' but the printout was too large. I then discovered that if you use 'Snag It' you can accomplish the same thing. Press Shift-command-3 for the whole screen or Shift-command-4 for a part of the screen. this creates a PNG image which when opened in 'Preview' can be printed. Rather complicated, but it does work. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

No, they're just in a different place. Adjust the available settings in the PSE print window, then click Print. You will see a small OS X print window. Click the Show Details button and use the pulldown menu in the middle of the expanded window to set things like paper type, ink, quality, etc.

We enter various pieces of data, other than the standard name address & phone numbers and we print all information on each card so it fits in a 5x7 inch loose binder. We have used InTouch software for many years and it has served us extremely welll, however, the publisher (The Prairie Group) has not, and apparently has no plans to update their software to be compatible with any Mac OSX OS beyond 10.6. Any help will be appreciated!

You can select what you want included in a list format. In the Print command from Contacts, click the Show Details button. Then in the Style pulldown menu select "Lists" and there you'll be able to select what you want included. You can also select what you wish included if you select the Pocket Address Book style.
If neither of those options will work for you, then you will need to look to third-party software. Here's one possibility that seems to get good reviews:

I haven't done more than try it to make sure that it works with OS X 10.9's Contacts, which it does, but you can download their demo and try it yourself.

How do I print or export only selected cells in Numbers?

Does anyone know how to do this in Numbers? I have been trying to do this for well over an hour...... I have looked at other posters' questions first, all the way back to 2008 in fact. The closest I have seen to an answer (and it is a workaround, not a true answer) is copy the selected cells into a new sheet. I have been using software spreadsheets (Lotus 123 and later Excel) going back to the mid-1980's. I cannot remember the last time I could not do this.
Friends, I do realize that many of the workarounds would have taken far less time than what I have invested, please do not feel the need to point that out. I am heading for a workaround right now as I have run out of time to devote to this task. Also, please do not suggest that I should "capture" the data by copying a screen shot to the clipboard or have it dump a .png on my desktop. Most of us here should know how to do that by now but that does not address the underlying issue of how to provide only a select piece of a spreadsheet to a 3rd party in a professional looking format. Well, off to copy and paste........

Update (15 min later):
Boy, I hope one of you out there knows the solution to this. Copy and paste the selected area does not work either. You lose (this was an "Oh, duh!" sort of moment BTW) any figures populated by calculations not in the selection area.
Need to go eat, will try to feed the values in the new table from the same calculations in the first table. I can do that easily in Excel, I just have not tried it yet in Numbers. I am optomistic that it will work.

I made a test which gave a funny result.
Given a Numbers document with a chart.
I selected the chart, the title and the legends
then I grouped these objects.
Select all
copy
run the script
I pasted in the sheet to be able to take a screenshot.
It's a bit inconsistent.
Text values are passed when they are in cells
They are passed when they are used as value labels in the chart
but they aren't passed when they are chart's title or legend's components.
Funny behavior, the graphic symbols are moved in the process to the location where they would be if the text components were nil strings.
No comment upon a table's title which can't be selected with the table itself.

In printing only a specific selected section, the top line or 2 of the printout is not printing. This only happened since the last update. It does not happen when I use internet explorer.

I read many financial documents during the day. I sometimes print only a selected segment of an article or a financial statement. When I print selected only, the top line or 2 lines is omitted from the print document. It does not happen in explorer.
I used Firefox for years, and this just started in the last 3 weeks or so. I can get around it by just selecting 2 lines above what I want to print. But, it is annoying.
