Elements 8 albums to Elements 10

Can anyone tell me how I can get the albums I have made for PSE8 on one computer to PSE10 on another computer?

Use PSE8 on your old computer to make a full backup of the catalog to an external drive.  This will also backup the media files, so be sure you have plenty of space.
Use PSE10 on your new computer to restore from that backup.  See the Organizer's Help file for more info re:  backing up and restoring.

Question???  When I open up an album in Photoshop Elements and then click on a picture to upsize it, it comes up blurry.  I'm using a Mac.

Make sure Readr is closed. Go to the Applications form, look for the Adobe Reader icon, double click on it, and follow the lead. Restart Reader when finished.

I am working in photshop elements 13 organizer, album view, and would like to resequence (rearrange) the photos shown in the album but am unable to do so.  My understanding is that you can click on the phots that you want to move and drag it to a new location within the same album.  After i select the photo that I want to move and click on the photo, I get a cirlcle with a diagonal throught it and am unable to drag the photo to its new location.  What am I doing wrong?  I know this should be a simple thing to do.  Thanks

    In the Elements Organizer 13
The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

  • Albums disappeared (Elements 11 under Windows 7) - how to search/retrieve?

Completely frustrated, started to rearrange my photos into Albums after the functionality to sort after file name was unexplainably abolished. After having arranged 5 albums over a number of days , all of them have disappeard after start of Elements - is there a system file where they might be hidden? This is extremely frustrating after going through this work due to a missing feature in the new version - now I'm not keen to restart the work from scratch until I understand why and whereto the albums have vanished without visible trace in Organizer. Any hint/help is greatly appreciated.
I am in Folder not Tree view, I have extended the album view (little arrow pointing downwards and I ran a catalogue repair / repair anyway.

    Thanks Jon,
Fair enough, that was my first thought, the question is actually for my father, we are living on different continents, and I'm trying to help him via screen sharing. He is 76 years young and not quite that computer savvy, but he actually checked this first.
I have trouble helping him as he is using Windows 7 with PSE11 and I'm using the latest versions of LR and Photoshop on Mac, at work we are still with Windows XP so I don't know my ways around very well in W7. I have trouble sussing out what W7 and PSE11 don't allow you to do in comparison to the programs I use - e.g. having a safety copy of your folder/pics on import and other things.
I had asked my father a lot of questions of what happened and what he did just before the loss became apparant, there was nothing unusual (e.g. crash of program or PC), so I think this was kind of a freak catalogue thing, I have now instructed my father to save the catalogue on every exit to avoid future frustrations.
    thanks for your considerations

  • I need to uninstall downloaded version of Elements 12 on a computer, then install Elements 12 on the same computer directly from a disk. Elements 11 was previously used on same computer, and the albums and library had been moved to the first installation

I need to uninstall downloaded version of Elements 12 on a computer, then install Elements 12 on the same computer directly from a disk. Elements 11 was previously used on same computer, and the albums and library had been moved to the first installation of 12, which I am removing. How do I correctly unstall the old Elements 12, and install the new elements 12 from disk, and retain all albums and libraries from the old Elements 12?

You're welcome.  It was not an answer, it was a question, and it could lead to being helpful if you explain why you think you need to uninstall.
As far as uninstalling goes, you will uninstall it like you do for any program, which depends on what kind of operating system you have.  If you wish to retain albums and whatnot, maybe the following link can provide some guidance.

  • Upgrading from Elements 10 to Elements 12, and new computer, how do I hook up old albums?

Our old computer stopped working, and i've had to move our photos from the old computer to the new one. The old computer had Elements 10, and the new has Elements 12. I have the old directory structure and catalog intact from a backup, and want to point Elements 12 at the old stuff in a way that it doesn't lose the album structure that my wife had done. And I need it to be on the secondary drive (where it was in the old computer as well) since the primary hard drive is an SSD, and is too small for all of our pictures.
Is there a way to do that? Like enter the folder name of the top of the old hierarchy somewhere in Elements 12? I'm afraid that if I just import the top level folder that the old catalog and album structure will just be ignored, and we'll end up with a big pile of unstructured pictures (like about  13,000 pictures *smile*).
Will importing the pictures the obvious way (when you open a new installed Elements, it asks to import pictures) ignore the album structure, or will it just work within the hierarchy that's been left by Elements 10?
The top level structure is D:\Adobe Element 10 Pictures, and under that is D:\Adobe Element 10 Pictures\My Catalog and D;\Adobe Element 10 Pictures\...\My Pictures.
Any help with this would be really appreciated.
    Thanks.

Okay, found my own answer, finally. Ran across a posting including this line:
You can test that the catalog copy is ok by double clicking (or the Mac equivalent) on the file : catalog.pse10db. That should open the organizer with the catalog copy.
which gave me the idea to find that catalog.pse10db file. Found it, double clicked on it, and the organizer came up with all of our pictures, albums, etc. and has apparently decided that this is what we want *smile*.
So all's well that ends well.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer catalog conversion

I'm having trouble converting Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 catalog to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer.  I get a Conversion Failed error which tells me to repair with the program that created it.  I have tried several things including deleting all .avi files from the catalog, deleting references to missing files and backing up then trying to convert from an external HD.  I'm running Vista Home Premium on a HP laptop.  The Organizer optimize and repair don't seem to help in this case.
Does anyone have any history with this or advice?

Please refer to following KB article which deals with catalog conversion failures:-

  • Photoshop Album to Photoshop elements File size issue

I have used album v2 for a few years, and only import proxy files from off-line media (CD/DVD) to keep the backup file small which makes it easier to keep 2 computers on the same page..(15000 image files = 6GB) I make a backup to a portable drive monthly, and restore to 2nd pc.. etc
I have converted the catalogue into elements 9 succesfully, and it correctly points to the relevent discs if I need the full res files.
My question is.. Can I do this sort of import in Photoshop Elements 9? In album there was a check box for keeping the files off-line during import and to name the disc for reference , but I cant see this in elements... Perhaps I am missing something obvious..
Looking through the dialoge boxes, I wonder if you import the full res file, then move/copy to disc leaving behind the proxy...
I am on the trial, and dont want to buy if its not what I want..
Apologies if this topic is listed elsewhere.. I have looked, but cant find one..
    Thanks for any pointers,

I'm not sure but it sounds a lot like the question I posed to the forum a little later today.  It may be that the newer versions of PSE are not compatible with transfering all the Categories, Sub Categories and Tags from versions up to PSE 10.  I am presently using PSE 10 because I couldn't figure out how to save all the organization I have put into Elements over the past 10 years or so.
I'm hoping for an answer to my question.

  • Convert photoshop album SE 3.2 to Photoshop elements

    It seems simple enough.
I have photoshop album SE 3.2 and it is working well with 8400 photos all tagged is various groups.  I downloaded Photoshop elements 8 and installed it(succesfully). I then tried to convert the database over.  It does 2% then comes up with:
"The conversion operation failed.  Try repairing the catalog with the software that created it and retry conversion"
I have checked every photo, hit the "reconnect all missing files" option under the file tab.  held the cntl key upon startup, used the oprimize and repair tabs in photoshop elements and nothing shows any errors but it still will not convert.
Is there something obvious I am missing ?
I have about 20 days left on my trial and I want to make sure it works before I buy it.
    Thanking you in advance.

Thanks.  I can see a couple of messages that look like errors but do not know how to handle them.

  • Can't select albums with photoshop elements 10 with iTunes 10.6

I first upgraded Itunesvto 10.6 and the downloaded the trial version of adobe photoshop elements 10, never had any previous photoshop versions.  When I go into iTunes and go under the sync photos tab and select the photoshop elements for "sync from" I can't select albums, only all photos.  I have only two "smart" albums in elements, but I figured they should be seen.
I tried a solution from another forum, but it did not work.  It was:
    1. Open catalogue in elements
    2. Rename catalogue
    3. Optimize renamed catalogue
    4. Restart iTunes
    This did not work.
I'd like to avoid manually updating the folders as I really only want to have the previous 3 or 6 months worth of photos on my iPad
    Thanks.

I solved the mystery. It had to do with the file metadata in the Photoshop Elements catalog. When I moved the catalog (pictures) from my old machine to the new machine, the path (folder location) of the images changed. So, although the catalog had cached thumbnails of the photos to display in Photoshop Elements (which tricked me into thinking that the path to the images was correct), the paths were actually wrong. All I had to do was “reconnect” the missing images (a feature in Photoshop Elements which corrects missing/wrong paths to images) and now everything works correctly (sync in iTunes).

  • Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 and Photoshop Elements 11

Is Photoshop Album 2.0 compatible with Photoshop Elements 11?
At present I am running this old software on Windows 7 and sometimes it tells me to reinstall the software.  If I buy Elements 11 will I still be able to access my old photos which are stored in a photowell in Album 2?

    Good day!
Maybe you could post on the Photoshop Elements Forum, this Forum is dedicated to Photoshop for beginners.

  • Mobil photos album in Photoshop Elements 12 show up in Revel albums with titles but are blank.  No photos!

I am using Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer for Mac.  I have moved several local albums to the mobil albums area in the left panel of the Org
anizer screen.  I am signed in to Revel.  The albums with titles show up in Revel, but they are empty.  None of the photos show up.  I can see the photos in the library section of Revel, but not in the album view.  Also, when I try to share the albums with Album Web Share, the link that is generated takes me to the album webpage where I see a message "There are no photos or videos in this album".
Why are the albums coming up blank!  What have I down wrong??  I can see the photos in the albums in the Photoshop Organizer window, but nothing in the Revel albums.

  • How do I upload my albums in Photoshop Elements 10 to Revel?

My computer was stolen a couple of years ago and I thought all of the photos on Elements 10 were just gone.  Recently I found the purchaseof PS Elements 10
on amazon.com and was able to re-download the program to my new computer.  I found some of my pictures had been moved to Adobe Revel.  I am in the process of transferring all of my pictures from various CDs and jumpdrives into Elements 10.  I have quite a library already.  I would like to transfer my albums from Elements 10 to Revel to start sharing with my family, but I don't know how.  Any help would be appreciated.

You can try catalog conversion for your pse5 catalog to pse8 catalog.
But vefore doing that, perform a reconnect for all missing files on your pse5 catalog. For this, click File >> Reconnect >> All Missing Files in PSE5 catalog. As one more step, repair and optimize the catalog using File >> Catalog >> highlight your catalog and use the repair and optimize buttons.
Now once done, launch PSE8 and click File >> Catalog >> Convert and select your pse5 catalog from those listed in there and get it converted to a PSE8 catalog.
This is the usual way we upgrade our previous version catalogs to newer ones so you shouldn't have an issue with it. Once this is done, you can import more media (new images which need to fix) right away into this PSE8 catalog.
Do let me know if you face any issue in doing so...

  • Photoshop elements 11 albums won't sync

Photoshop Elements 11 albums won't sync with ipad using iTunes.
I was using PE10 and synced my albums using iTunes to my iPad 3 iOS 6.0 and 5.1 just fine. (itunes 10.7.0.21) I upgraded to PE11 and it goes into perpetual sync when albums are selected. I deleted some albums and added test albums in PE11 and those changes are not reflected in iTunes.
I worked with Apple Care for about 2 hours uninstalling all of the Apple software (iTunes, etc) and reinstalling. That did not fix it. Apple declared it an Adobe problem and suggested I call them.
I worked with Adobe about 45 minutes before they declared it an iTunes problem.
    Any ideas out there?

I solved the mystery. It had to do with the file metadata in the Photoshop Elements catalog. When I moved the catalog (pictures) from my old machine to the new machine, the path (folder location) of the images changed. So, although the catalog had cached thumbnails of the photos to display in Photoshop Elements (which tricked me into thinking that the path to the images was correct), the paths were actually wrong. All I had to do was “reconnect” the missing images (a feature in Photoshop Elements which corrects missing/wrong paths to images) and now everything works correctly (sync in iTunes).

What software is required to view an Elements slide show on a computer without Elements? Will Acrobat Viewer work?

  • Transfer Album 2.0 (XP) to Elements 8 (Windows 7)?

I have been using Photoshop Album 2.0 in Windows XP for quite awhile.  My new laptop runs Windows 7.  I was able to copy my Photoshop Album 2.0 into the Virtual XP portion of my new laptop.  I am considering upgrading to Elements 8 on the Windows 7 portion of my laptop.   How can I get all the info from 2.0 into Elements 8?   My husband has Elements 8 on his computer and I tried doing a backup of 2.0 and restoring it to his Elements 8.  The photos came through, but I lost all my tags and collections.   I thought I might have better luck if I download Elements 8 on my laptop, but I don't think Elements 8 will be able to detect 2.0 since it is in the Virtual XP portion of my laptop.  Any suggestions?   I hate the thought of re-tagging everything.
