Elements 8 crashes on multiple monitors

I've been using Photoshop in it's many incarnations for years but as many in my camera club use elements and they keep asking me "how do you do this" and "how do you do that" I thought it would be a good idea to install a copy of elements 8 on my computer. Bought a copy on line and installed it. The first thing it did was start generating thumbnails of my Photography folder, although there is over 160,000 shots in there it decided it was only going thumbnail 67,000 (which some 2 days later it's still doing, please tell me it doesn't refresh the thumbnails every time it starts up). I thought I would move the PSE8 Organize screen to another monitor while I got on with something else, big mistake! I reduced the size of it with the restore down/maximise button and it just disappeared. I can click on the task bar icon and some times it will come back up, other times it won't. Some times it will pop back up on a monitor it wasn't on in the first place, other times a notice will pop up saying Elements 8 has stopped working do I want to send a report in. Oh! I forgot to mention that when PSE8 starts up it send parts of the other 3 displays grey which can be put back to the correct colour by passing over the corrupted sections with the mouse pointer. I have two systems and each system has two graphics card in them with four monitors connected to each system, one system is intel based with the graphics cards being ATI, the other system is AMD based and has Nvidia cards in it. To check the fault is not specific to to one set up I have now put a copy on the other system and it does exactly the same thing, I have no problem with any other programs including CS4; any one got any ideas on how to cure this?

If I buy a Land Rover Discovery I don't expect the cigarette lighter to pop out every time I go over a bump, I also wouldn't expect Land Rover to ask me to try several different measures to see if "I" can find a solution. I would have expected them to have tested the Discovery under every possible condition to make sure it performed flawlessly every time it was used before they released it to the public. I have limited knowledge of computers and even less time to mess around trying to get a "rogue program" running correctly, the program has been shelved and that's where it will stay, I'll just put it down to experience and make sure I fully test any more Adobe programs "before" I purchase it.
If another forum user hade made the suggestion then I would have been more thankful; but you're an employee (that's what your avatar says anyway) so as the compnies representative I'm afraid you get a different response, please note that my response didn't take two months either!

  • Bizarre crashing with Multiple Monitors in Win 7 64-bit.

I am running InDesign CS 4.0.2 ME (4.0.4 has yet to be released) with 4 monitors running on 2 nvidia cards. I am having the most bizarre behaviour. After rebooting the computer, ID crashes on starting. The only way to get it to work is to first disable the second card, then it loads fine, the reenable the second card. ID will open and close without any problem until I reboot again!
    This is really strange.
I used to have a similar problem on Vista where if ID was maximised on start it wouldn't load so I had to make the preference be that it didn't open full screen (1920 x 1200) and then it would work.
It seems that Adobe would prefer us all to work on XP with a 17" monitor.
On a similar front, in 64-bit Windows 7, the ID icon doesn't show. It's just a blank icon. The book icon works, as does, .idml etc., but an .indd simply doesn't appear in purple. This is unique to 64-bit Win 7, because under 32-bit it works fine.
    Most bizarre and quite irritating!

All I can tell you is that I don't see this issue with the standard version of InDesign.
It sounds to me like a video card/driver issue and that's where I'd be concentrating my efforts.

  • Premiere Elements 9 crashes with multiple NVIDIA graphics cards under Windows 7

I've just installed Premiere Elements 9 and found that it will not run at all with multiple NVIDIA graphics cards active under Windows 7.  Per all the other discussions, I updated the NVIDIA drivers and Quicktime support to the latest versions.  (NVIDIA version 260.99).  I have both a 9400 GT and an 8400 GS installed, to support multiple monitors.  They both use the same driver.  The PRE 9 organizer will run, but as soon as I create or load a project it quickly crashes.
On a long shot I disabled the 8400 GS card in the Device Manager and now I can run PRE 9.  Of course this means giving up one of my monitors.  Any other ideas?

Over in the Premiere Pro area (or maybe it was in the Hardware section... didn't pay a lot of attention 'cause it really didn't matter to me) I read a message about using two nVidia cards with no problems (other than no dual-card SLI support)
I **think** that was with two SAME model nVidia cards
And, of course, PPro is completely different code, so PreEl may simply not work with two nVidia cards

  • Multiple monitors on laptop: iTunes crashes upon display lock

I have a laptop running XP Pro with an external monitor attached as an extended desktop. When I use iTunes (6.0.5.20) and lock my screen for any reason (close lid, screen saver activates, etc.), iTunes freezes and throws up an "Unsupported Display" window - or at least tries to: it appears in the taskbar but can't be viewed, opened, or closed. Only upon killing it (along with iTunes) can I continue to use my computer.
Anyone have a fix? I'm not the first to run into this; see for example:
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?postid=743115
    Thanks.

I have a desktop with multiple monitors, and I have had the same sorts of problems. For me, iTunes 6 would display a dialog box that says "Unsupported Display" when I unlock the screens, though I was able to see it and dismiss it and life was good. Now, with iTunes 7, I can see that it tried to display an "Unsupported Display" dialog, but it crashed as well...

  • Surface Pro 3, Remote Desktop, multiple monitors, Windows 8.1 DPI scaling issues

I have been evaluating Surface Pro 3 and once of the attributes is the display. Here is the description of the environment and the remote desktop display issue.
Surface Pro 3 (Windows 8.1 with latest firmware and Windows updates) has 12 inch built-in screen with native resolution 2160x1440. The Surface is docked and an external monitor (native resolution 1920x1080) is connected to the docking stations. The
display configuration doesn't allow for different scaling for each monitor, single scaling value is used for multiple monitors. This is an issue as the recommended scaling of 150% is optimal for small built-in screen of Surface but it is not optimal for
large screens of external monitors. Also this scaling is "inherited" by a remote desktop session which results in objects being too large on the remote desktop sessions or sometimes even blurry/fuzzy.
Can the blurriness/fuzziness of the remote desktop session be resolved?
    Z

    Hi Colin,
Thanks for the response. I installed the latest firmware and patches about a week ago and the scaling issue improved. It is not optimal yet as some graphical elements are still out of proportions but I do not want to spent more resources on this subject
    anymore.
    Best regards,
    Zbysek

  • T410 type 2516-A11 multiple monitor (and cleaning service) question

    Hi guys,
I have the above mentioned model. I want to verify my understanding (from reading the forums) is correct regarding the multiple monitor setup.
This model is NOT capable of  running 2 external displays + 1 internal laptop display  all at the same time. I checked the BIOS and i dont see any mention of  nvidia.  Is there any way i can get 3 monitors all displaying at same time without purchasing a dock-3 ?  I am considering simply buying another laptop (about $300 for a cheap one)  instead of spending money  on the dock. After all, this laptop is getting old and i need to get ready for some kind of  unrecoverable  crash. (I do not backup stuff, for lack of time and stuff is not work related).
The second question is on cleaning this laptop. After running 15 hrs a day,  all days of the week, for past  2 and half  years, this laptop has impressed me with its stability.  But i had to buy a laptop cooler to hold the bottom of the laptop because it started getting hot and crashing on me every 2 days (because i run video intense app for much of the time).  I am planning to take it to local fry's electronics for taking it apart and getting a good internal cleanup done on this.  Is there any precautions i should mention to the fry's  technician ?  I am planning to backup important files, just in case the laptop dies after that.  Would like to hear any stories (good or bad) after a cleaning  service on  T410 model.
Thanks in advance; i am planning to get this machine rejuvinated during this christmas break.

  • Photoshop cs4 and multiple monitors

When i save a document as a jpg on one monitor and then drag the photoshop window to the other monitor and save it the same way, they turn out differently! Whats going on?

    JohnVega
"On the Mac, the Application frame groups all the workspace elements in a single, integrated window that lets you treat the application as a single unit. When you move or resize the Application frame or any of its elements, all the elements within it respond to each other so none overlap. Panels dont disappear when you switch applications or when you accidentally click out of the application. If you work with two or more applications, you can position each application side by side on the screen or on multiple monitors. If you prefer the traditional, free-form user interface of the Mac, you can turn off the Application frame. In Adobe Illustrator®, for example, select Window > Application Frame to toggle it on or off." - Adobe Help "Using Photoshop CS4"
Once you have done that, move the whole block of the Application frame to the Display Tablet. You can then toggle between the monitor 1 and tablet monitor by switching on/off Application frame..

  • Auto-Detect Screen Resolution Does Not Work Across Multiple Monitors With Different Resolutions

    Hi,
The Acrobat Pro DC (15.007.20033.2203) auto-detect screen resolution feature does not work with multiple monitors at different resolutions.  Acrobat looks fine on my hidpi primary laptop display (Razr 14" 2014) but is completely unusable if I drag or extend the application to a standard HD resolution secondary monitor. Dragging Acrobat from my primary desktop display to the secondary display causes the UI elements to become 2x as large as they should be and makes Acrobat unusable.
Is there a way to make Acrobat auto-detect the display that it is currently on?
    Thanks!
    -Donald

To prevent it from happing again, you can
    1. go to the Mouse preference and turn off the scroll zoom feature.
    2. go to the Universal Access preference and disable the zoom features.

  • Mountain lion cannot handle multiple monitors. Why?

Runnig Mountain Lion 10.8.1 on a MacPro Early 2009.
Mountain lion has screwed my multiple monitor life up! With Lion I was able to have 5 multiple monitors rotated 90 degrees running without a hitch. I know... I am a visual learner .  I have 3 Nvidia Geoforce GT 120 512 MB graphics cards. All bought from apple. Why can't mountain lion handle multiple monitors in any rotation? Is there going to be a fix soon? like 10.8.2? Does anyone know if apple is working with Nvidia to correct this?  I am back to just 1 90 degree rotated monitor. This hurts.

10.8.3 DOES NOT WORK for me.
this did NOT solve my problem... I responded too soon.
Yes I am able to have 6 monitors in portrait mode with 3 Nvidia Geoforce GT 120 512MB graphics cards but as of yesterday, my whole system shuts down and reboots. This happened 3 times in the span of about an hour.
I removed all but 2 monitors running on only 1 Nvidia Geoforce GT 120 512MB graphic card and the system crashes stopped.
So I am back to either waiting again for some resolution from apple or looking into buying newer graphics cards.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted... a whole day.
Again, I can't get no satisfaction...

  • Can you have multiple users working off the same Mac pro at the same time with multiple monitors but doing different things?

I'm buying desktops for a start up company and was wondering if I could purchase a single Mac Pro and run multiple monitors to allow multiple users to work on the computer at the same time. These users would be doing different tasks but I would hope to accomplish that on a single desktop. I know that screen sharing is possible but with only one user controlling both of the screens. Thanks in advance, sorry for my apple ignorance!

A lot of companies are buying or leasing laptops to be used at the office by day, and carried home at night.
Some companies are doing "Bring your own device". Bring a device to receive email -- computer/smartphone/tablet you already have, or have an allowance to buy one for your use.
If Capital is short (and when is it not) leasing computers, to be turned in a few years, can be a huge savings because the cost is expensed as incurred. The alternative is laying out cash today, but not being able to expense the cost this year. Instead, the computer expense must be recovered over their useful life (often five years) through depreciation.

  • You cannot shadow a session with multiple monitors enabled in Windows Server 2008 R2

Searching through the forums (and according to KB2484290) it appears that there is no solution to this problem.  We are rolling out thin clients that are using dual monitors exclusively and we were very surprised to find out that we couldn't shadow
sessions with dual monitors (which to us means that we can't shadow ANY sessions).  This now completely changes our approach to managing these devices.
We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with Remote Desktop Services installed.  The thin clients are running Windows Embedded Standard 7 with the latest updates / RDP client. All steps have been followed to ensure that the apropriate settings and
permissions have been set up to allow access into the session.
We tested by unchecking the RDP setting “use all my monitors for the remote session”, with that setting disabled shadowing worked
    Questions:
    1. KB2484290 is from Dec 2010 - It's now April 2012, is there a workaround / hotfix for this issue that will allow us to shadow sessions using the native Microsoft tools?
    2. Are there any recommended alternatives (software)?  Free/Paid - doesn't matter we just need something that will work.  I'm sure there are a few options out there but I am looking for suggestions for what people have used in the past that worked
best for them to help us narrow down the choices.

    Hi,
In my experience, so far, the workaround is Remote Assistance, Remote Assistance supports multiple monitors, and is the presently recommended solution if you need this functionality. Remote Assistance is a Windows Server Feature that must be explicitly installed
on Windows Server 2008 R2; it is already installed with the client versions of the operating system.

  • How to set up multiple monitors

I got a 27" 3.1 gz Imac for Christmas. I need to run multiple monitors on it.
#1 How many monitors will it support?
#2 How do I hook them up to the Imac?
#3 What hardware do I need in order to do this?

  • Wanting to use multiple monitors on HP hpe210Y w-DVI-I and HDMI. Audio: 5.1 Surround

I have a HP Elite hpe210y with only two outputs of which are: 1) DVI-I and 2) HDMI. My  situation is that I have 2 new HP Monitors with VGA Cables. I have an adapter for DVI-I to VGA and also VGA to Dual VGA. I do NOT want the monitors to work as Duplicates however. I want the second monitor to be an extension. I am also interested in getting even 2 more monitors in teh near future for a total of 4.
Is there some way I can get two monitors to work off one DVI-I ?
Will I be able to upgrade to up to 4 monitors?
Is there a part I need?
Wanted to mention that my OS is Win7 Home Premium 64 bit. I use IE9, Chrome and Firefox
I would of never bought this from Best Buy if I had known in advance that there was just the one regular output. I see they have one called a Phoenix which I may look into.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

    >Is there some way I can get two monitors to work off one DVI-I ?
I've not yet seen a solution for that.
You can use a hdmi2vga adapter for the second port.
    >Will I be able to upgrade to up to 4 monitors?
    >Is there a part I need?
you can try one of these:
    http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/100-U2-UV19-TR.pdf
    http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Universal-Multi-Display-Adapter-Black/dp/B002F9NSMQ/ref=pd_cp_e_1
    http://aluratek.com/usb-2-0-high-resolution-vga-adapter
They will use your current graphics device.
If you are looking for a new solution - I've read about DisplayPort version 1.2 that can do 'daisy-chain connection' with multiple monitors. But this you have to 'google' yourself.
