PRE_Help,
Thank you for these clarifications. They are most useful, and greatly appreciated.
Regarding the 3rd party Effects, historically, New BlueFX has provided several Effects & Transitions, that are included in PrE. Looking at the New BlueFX Web site, I cannot find mention of 64-bit Effects (for PrE 10-64, and PrPro CS5, or 5.5, and AE CS5, or 5.5). This could be due to the updating of their site's pages, or could be my not finding the right link to follow. In the 64-bit version of PrE 10, are the same New BlueFX Effects (obviously 64-bit versions) included, as with the 32-bit version of PrE 10?
It has taken some time for many suppliers of PrPro & AE Effects/plug-ins, to get the 64-bit versions out, and am just wondering if New BlueFX has released the 64-bit for PrE 10-64 yet.
To date, CineForm, Boris, Red Giant and others, have done pretty well at writing 64-bit versions of their top Effects, but as New BlueFX has worked so closely, and some of their portfolio has been included, I am wondering how far along they are.
In the same vein, I assume that SmartSound Express Tracks is still included in PrE 10. As they do have 64-bit support for their Sonicfire Pro (with a new 64-bit plug-in for PrPro CS5 and 5.5), I would hope so.
If you have a moment to comment on these 3rd party plug-ins, historically included in PrE, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for all of the info that you have provided. It will be greatly helpful to users of PrE 10.

documentation...i use captivate for online tutorials, but from what
i'm hearing the captivate team has been disbanded by adobe and
they've outsourced the 'development' of future releases to india.
    buyer beware.

  • CANNOT OPEN RAW FILES USING NEW CANON EOS 1D MKIII WITH PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 5

Hi, I have recently taken a number of RAW shots with my new Canon EOS 1D MKIII and have found that I am unable to import them into Photoshop Elements version 5 (using Microsoft Windows). Comments generated are: "the file is a format that cannot be included in the organiser" and "cannot open because it is the wrong type of file". The RAW file extension is .CR2 and I have been able to open these type of files taken on my older, and much cheaper, Canon 350D. I have spent hours considering different options but to no effect and am completely baffled. Do the two cameras produce different types of RAW files? Notably, the files do import into the Canon software 'Digital Photo Professional' but I want to undertake the more versatile manipulation in Photoshop Elements. I have managed to become even more baffled about Digital Negative ('DNG') files and wonder if there is some kind of converter I need. Would the solution be to purchase a more advanced Photoshop package like CS2? OR .......... do I need an 'Adobe Camera RAW' update? I have struggled to find the latest version for Photoshop Elements 5 to suit my Canon EOS 1D MKIII. There appears to be a 4.3.1 update but this only applies to Version CS3. Help!

You probably haven't had anyone respond to your question because it has been asked and answered so many times. However, I will try once again.
Adobe Camera Raw must have a profile for every model of every camera for which it supports the camera's raw format. It is not a matter of just supporting a file type such as your CR2 files. ACR needs to know specifically what model you are using. This is a problem that has been created by the different camera makers. They are the ones who are creating these proprietary raw formats. No, they do not cooperate with Adobe. That is why Adobe has to wait for a camera to be available, then obtain a raw file from that camera, and then create the profile so that ACR will recognize that camera. That is also why ACR is updated about four times each year, to provide support for newly released cameras.
In an attempt to create a "common" raw file format, Adobe has developed the DNG (Digital negative) file format. Adobe is providing a free DNG converter. You always want to download and use the latest version of the DNG converter because it will be the one that supports the most cameras. The DNG converter creates a digital negative copy of your raw image. It contains all of the original raw image data. The image data is precisely the same data that was in the original raw image. The difference is that the DNG file has a "standardized" file header that stores as much of the metadata as possible about the image. Metadata is the information that records the changes that you make to your image when you edit it. Some of the image data is proprietary, and is therefore not available to Adobe. Obviously, that information simply has to be ignored by ACR. There are no XMP files associated with the DNG files. The information is stored within the DNG file itself so the XMP sidecar file is not necessary.
If you decide to go the DNG route you want to make sure you are using the latest version of the DNG converter. It will convert raw files from the largest number of cameras. Those DNG files can be opened by any version of Camera Raw from version 2.4 onward. Consequently, someone who is still using Photoshop CS still has the capability of working on their raw files even if they have the most recent up to date camera.
Photoshop Elements will utilize ACR 4.3.1 and any subsequent updates to the ACR 4.x releases. Judging from past experience, there should be another release soon. No one knows for sure. These releases are never announced ahead of time. ACR is not as robust in Photoshop Elements as it is in Photoshop CS3. It is the same plug-in, but a number of options are not available. It will support the same cameras, however.
You don't need to worry about matching the DNG converter version number to your working version of ACR. The only relationship is that matching version numbers will support the same set of cameras. But the DNG files that are created can be used in any version of ACR from 2.4 onward.
Anyone who is involved with digital photography and shooting raw has become a victim of the arrogance of the camera makers. The camera makers want to protect their proprietary format, and they want to promote the use of their software. Some of that software has to be purchased, so it is another way for them to make money. Until such time as everyone agrees on a common raw format, the photographers are the ones who are at the mercy of the camera makers. And there will be a continual ongoing updating process that we will have to wait for.

I have tried to view videos created in premiere elements 10 and I get the following message: "this file type is not supported, or the required codec is  not installed.  When it opens there is a red screen in the monitor panel with Korean writing which also appears in the place of each clip in the video.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling premiere elements 10, but that did not have any effect on the video.  Do you have any suggestions?  I researched codec, but do not understand them at all.

In case you did not find it, the following is a copy/paste of the Announcement on Premiere Elements 19/NVIDIA GeForce
that appears at the top of this forum.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

  • Premiere elements 11 won't install

Recently purchased online bundle Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11.  No trouble installing Elements but Premiere won't go. Windows XP.  Have tried on Google chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Have had chat help from Adobe but nothing works.  I want Adobe to send a hard copy at no cost but don't know how to reach them by phone and not pay the hefty service charge..  I think they are liable as they failed to announce the availability of Elements 11 when I purchased Elements 10.  When I questioned this they said they would send a comlimentary. copy but only online.  Any ideas?

Because your question is about t Adobe Premiere Elements which has a separate forum.
I recommend that you post this question at

  • Payment model for Adobe Premiere Elements 12

One site announces a one time cost. Is there also a mandatory annual license fee?

    d94pn
If you are referring to Premiere Elements 12, there is no subscription purchasing plan for it that I have heard of.  So, I am not sure where hans-g is coming from with the reply in post 1. This is not Premiere Pro. You need Premiere Elements answer.
With Premiere Elements 12, if you purchase from Adobe direct, there are two different prices, Upgrade one = if you own an earlier version of Premiere Elements and Full one =  where you do not. Same thing, but different prices.
If you buy from other than Adobe, you pay one price at the time of purchase, whatever that authorized reseller is asking.
    To your question
Is there also a mandatory annual license fee?
No. You buy Premiere Elements (one time purchase price) as per the Adobe Licensing Agreement. That is it.
There is no mandatory annual license fee associated with Premiere Elements.
Please let us know if that targets your question. Remember this is Premiere Elements and not Premiere CC (pro version).
    Thank you.

  • Some text elements are missing

    Hi there!
From some time (I didn't noticed exactly) some text elements disappered in collaboration iviews.
For example if I try to go to some info-site collaboration room and add announcement, new window is opened with no texts, but only input fields to be filled. There's also no text on 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons. So it's hard to understand what input field is for what purpose :o)
    Why could it happen?
We're on SAP EP SP13 on WebAS 6.40, KM and Coll are also SP13.
    Thanks in advance,
    DK

    Hi once again!
I managed to regenerate projects. There's some bug with java on my notebook, but I did it directly on portal server maschine.
But the problem still persist. I even tried to restart servlet engine, no luck ;o(

  • Adobe abandons Mac users with PS Elements 4?

Adobe announced a new version of Photoshop Elements (4.0), but it won't be available for Mac users.
What other programs do people here use with iPhoto to edit their photos?

    Barbara,
Yes, it's me. I posted this before that information came out.
It still seems very odd, though. Why the Big Secret? Will it work with some unannounced product? That's my best guess at the moment.
Well I probably won't upgrade in any case--just not enough difference from PSE 3.0.
Now this product sounds interesting (you'll need to install Macromedia's Flash player 8.0 to view the video demo), depending on price of course:

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 10 not starting up.

When ever I start up Premiere it opens up with a message that says:
Premiere Elements 10.0 has encountered an error
    [..\..\Src\EMS\WSEMUtil.cpp-715]

    xpcm
Thanks for the reply. We may have our answer in your Premiere Elements 10 running on a computer that uses a NVIDIA GeForce card. There is a known issue relating
to Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce with the solution being roll back of the driver version to about May 2013. But, I have not seen it reported before in association
    with the particular error message
    [..\..\Src\EMS\WSEMUtil.cpp-715]
But because of the history on this matter in
the Announcement at the top of this forum
    and
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE10: NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
we do need to rule this factor in or out.
Go to the following site for older version NVIDIA GeForce and plug in your information to download and install the May 2013 driver version
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
It is the Driver GeForce 320.18 Driver........320.18.......May 23, 2013 that you want.
Are you working with SD or HD projects?
Please review and consider and then let us know the outcome. The references cited with give you a
comprehensive view of the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA situation.
    Thank you.

  • Photos Not as Sharp as Preview or Photoshop Elements

I've noticed in iPhoto 5.0.4 my photos don't appear to be presented as sharp as they do when I open the same photo in Photoshop Elments 2 or in Preview. In iPhoto 5 I double click the photo to go to edit mode. I have the same photo open in the other applications and when comparing them I notice iPhoto is a tad blurry. Photoshop Elements and Preview look the same when compared.
Is this the same issue in iPhoto 6? I've been thinking of upgrading to iLife 6.
I'll probably wait until after Macworld to see if a new version of iLife is announced.
    Thanks for any advice
    Kelvin
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Kevin:
The problem with V5 is that the the anti aliasing of the image smoothed out the sharpness unless it was view at 100% (use the Edit in separate window option and set the size to 100%). You'll find that the sharpness is there.
V6 does a better job of that along with Tiger and the newest Quicktime.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

It costs me $125 Canadian to purchase the "upgrade" from the Adobe site. (Including taxes and shipping). (talk about gouging at the gas pumps!!). I have only just finished upgrading my CS but have been caught in the Adobe web by having switched over from ACDSee to PSA to manage my pictures. Then they upgraded PSA and put the Organizer in PSE which made it necessary to spend even more money. Then they did NOT put the Organizer in CS so I am now in the position that if I want to keep my Organizer upgraded I am forced into spending more money. If I didn't have so much money and time tied up in books, etc for my Adobe products I would be seriously considering an alternative. I wonder if magazines like PC World look at the yearly costs of upgrading when they advertise how inexpensive PSE is at $99 US!!!! It is nearly an insult offering $20 off a program that we just paid full price for less than a year ago!
