Elements 9 collage only one theme - basic only?

I've been attempting to create a collage in elements 9 and am presented with only one theme - basic. Are there other themes available? If so, where are they located? Advanced mode still has only the basic theme, but I can access multiple layouts. Or, is one required to purchase Plus to get more themes? Other items - like greeting cards - have multiple themes

Well, if you just choose the background you want, that will replace the existing one. If you want to remove some of the frames, just delete them, and then target the layers for the existing frames and you can change them to any style you want. With the Advanced mode, you can create any style you want, really.

I am afraid PSE11 has just one theme, ie. Basic.
However you can go to Expert mode, and then create a new image of the size you want, and then insert frames from the Graphics panel. You can insert as many frames as you want.
But Photo Collage will offer you just one theme.

I recently purchased Premiere Elements 8 and downloaded it to my Dell Studio XPS 1340 running Windows Vista. Only one theme is available, the Fun theme. How do I get more?

You say "downloaded," so I assume that you do not mean "installed" there, and that you did download and then install from the downloaded file. There is a second archived file, that must be downloaded, and then installed next. It has all the Functional Content. It should be available on the same Web page, and the name will be a bit too similar to the main program.
Download that, Extract it with full folder structure, and then install. You will then have your functional content.

I try to use the tools in photoshop elements 13, instead of one of the tools I only get the eraser. Whatt can I do?

When I try to one of the tools in photoshop element 13 I get always the eraser. I push the brush. But I het once again the reaser. What can I do to get one of the other tools? Joost van Santen

Premiere Elements 12 will only render some of my footage?

Premiere Elements 12 will only allow me to render some of my footage while it won't render other footage at all. The footage it renders has a green line above it in the work space and no line is above the footage that won't render. I'm using a MacBook Pro and a LaCie external hard drive to import my footage and save my project. Any suggestions? Thank you!

1. Premiere Elements 12 on Mac. Have you updated from 12 to 12.1 yet - Help Menu/Update within a opened project? If not, please do so.

2. What are the properties of what you are putting on the Expert workspace Timeline?
Especially, if at all, how do the properties of the files displaying no Timeline lags and stops compare to the properties of the files that are presenting with Timeline lags and stops.
All of the content is in .mov format
3. What are you or the project setting as the project preset? To confirm, please tell us what you find Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the Editing mode, Timebase, Frame Size, Pixel Aspect Ratio readings, even if they look grayed out?
Editing mode is "HDV 1080i"
Timebase is "29.97 frames/second"
Frame size is "1440 horizontal 1080 vertical"
Pixel Aspect Ratio is "HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.33)"
4. What is the duration of the Timeline when the lags and stops begin....are these lags and stops related to the time on the Timeline or to specific files....if these problem files were moved to another part of the Timeline, would they still be problem files?
The lags and stops begin at approximately 24 seconds of the timeline, but when I move this content to another part of the timeline the lags and stops begin where this first problem file begin. The lags and stops are most likely related to specific files, however that doesn't make sense since some .mov files don't lag/stop while other .mov files do lag/stop. The files are still problem files even when moved to another part of the timeline.
5. Are there transitions applied to the Timeline content? What effects are you adding to clips?
There are no transitions applied to the timeline content. I've only added a fast-forward effect to one clip (a clip that rendered fine and doesn't lag/stop) in my project thus far.

out of 5 disc's, it says only use the 3 and 5 for Mac's, but it only downloaded Premeire

I think each is downloaded seperately. Need to download the Photoshop elements which if you specify Mac should be the same as disc 3.

Just saw your thread, and it looked like a candidate for the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce Roll Back the Driver issue. If your computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card, then the following applies to you. You do not want to update the driver. Rather you want to roll back the driver version, probably to about May 2013. For your convenience I have done a copy/paste of the forum announcement which gives all the details and fix of the matter.

If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.

Why doesn't "Elements 10 Editor only" allow the use of Nik Software plug ins??

I was very excited yesterday when I noticed in the Apple App store that a version of Elements called "Elements 10 Editor only" was for sale. Since I never use the Organizer this is perfect for me. Unfortunately, it will not allow Nik software plugins to be installed. There is no "plugins folder" included. In every other way the "Elements 10 Editor only" version is wonderful. Loads fast, runs clean and fast and is just a wonderful product, and something I've been hoping would come along for years. I can't believe Adobe didn't allow for the use of plug-ins. Looks like I just wasted $80.
Any suggestions or work-arounds to allow plug ins to be used?

Thank you, Barbara! I spent considerable time today on the phone with Nik Software. Both Viveza and Color Efex will work on the full version of Elements 10. NOT on the version "Elements 10 EDITOR ONLY". The reason is because Adobe did not include a plug in folder when they released Elements 10 EDITOR ONLY. Thanks, Barbara for the screen shot..however, the Editor only version has no folders at all!!! It's really strange. Why would Adobe release an Editor Only version of Elements that doesn't work with plug ins? I allowed Nik Software techs remote access to my Mac, and while version 9 has the same folder breakdown you provided, this Editor Only version of 10 has nothing except the application icon! You have been wonderfully helpful as usual, Barbara, thank you very much. It looks, though that I just wasted $80. Oh well, back to PSE9 !
Here's an update....using your method..I was able to find a folder for plug-ins within the program file. Used it to try and install Viveza and Color Efex, but Adobe says it "does not accept that type of file".

In PSE11 Adobe moved most of the backgrounds, frames, graphics and themes online. That's why you are not able to see those themes, as those are still not downloaded in your machine.
You will have to keep your Editor launched (with internet connection on) for sometime, in order to see the thumbnails.The online content is differentiated by a blue ribbon on them. Double click on the blue ribboned thumbnail to download the actual content.
Adobe did this to save lot of amout of space on your machine, and make installtion process faster.

This is not Adobe, rather user to user.
Premiere Elements is applicable to personal use or company use.
The program and its required QuickTime need to be run with Administrative permissions which typically involved running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges and sometimes also with Run As Administrator applied.
Volume licensing, your company security demands, and your company network matters should be directed to Adobe Sales and the Adobe Volume licensing groups.
Definitely go the free 30 day tryout from Adobe before purchase.

IPhoto 08 vsn 7.1.5 software issue. Can't print a photo. When I select print it comes up with the error message "No available themes" There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable. ugh

YOu need to reinstall iPhoto.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

One very basic doubt regarding J2EE

I want to clarify one very basic point regarding J2EE. As per to my understanding a J2EE is a 3 tier system, proposed by Sun for dvelopment and deployment of component based distributed applications. A J2EE based system requires application server as a middle tier, where business logic runs. So far so good.
Suppose i have a system which uses only JSPs and/or Servlets (No more EJBs and Application server). This system is also 3 tier system,(Client tier, Web-Server Tier and DB tier). In this case there is Web Server and no Application Server. So my doubt here is===== Can I call this as a J2EE based solution. (Assuming both the systems are performing the same task).??

A bit of elaboration and clarification. (AKA, the long answer)
The "3-tier" phrase should avoid any technological implication, thus be defined as Presentation Tier, Business Tier, Data Tier. It's meant to convey the clear separation of responsibility. A JSP/Servlet/DAO system, could constitute a 3-tier system, if applied correctly.
The J2EE platform encompases a number of technologies, JSP, Servlet, EJB, etc.
A J2EE compliant application server (i.e. JBoss) supports all the features of J2EE
A Servlet engine (i.e. Tomcat) only supports a sub-set of those technologies, thus it would not correctly be called a J2EE app server.
Calling something a "J2EE Application" really doesn't mean much, since many projects don't use every piece of J2EE technology available. Though I will agree that use of EJB is a key indicator. If it makes some manager feel better to call a JSP/Servlet app a "J2EE Application", fine.
Calling yourself (not you, just the general "you") a J2EE developer, should mean you have experience with developing the breadth of J2EE, so having hacked out some JSPs doesn't count :)
