Elements 9 crashes when rendering - every time.

When I try and render a video - I've tried several rendering settings - the progress bar always reaches about 20-40 % completion, then the whole program crashes. The error message is from windows. I have tried freeing hard drive space, updating to 9.01, and it is the only program running at the time. Please help!

Boblimbo
I am strictly and Elements user, intensely Premiere Elements (all versions) and have a good working relationship with Photoshop Elements alone or integrated with Premiere Elements. And, I stick to Premiere Elements answers to Premiere Elements questions. So, not to worry about me throwing you a Premiere Pro answer for a Premiere Elements question.
When you created your title in Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 (Title Menu/New Title/Default Still), the "Titler" workspace open, and your creation of the title is done in the Titler.
Thanks for clarify that your focus is rendering as in exporting the Timeline content to file saved to the computer hard drive or burn to disc rather than Timeline rendering to get the best possible preview of the Timeline content at playback in the Edit area monitor.
For now, please point your Scratch Disks (Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch discs) to Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/9.0 so that they are Local Disk C (assumed with the 484 GB free space).
Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 on Windows 7 64 bit is still a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of the 64 bit system and as such has the limitations of 32 bit system, namely, maximum supported installed RAM = 4 GB of which 3.2 to 3.0 GB or less of that are available. So, computer resource is a good candidate, but we need explore other factors as well.
Was that a misprint 120 GB file? What is its duration in the 18 minute Timeline content? What happens if you remove this file from the project? Do you get a successful export?
But, preliminary questions...what is your export choice...
a. Share/Computer/What with What export settings? Whatever the case, what does the export dialog show for estimated file size and duration at its bottom area?
b. Share/Disc/What.....? If this is the export, what does the burn dialog show in its Quality area for Space Required and Bitrate?
Not to be forgotten...what
9 original files, 1 picture, 3 videos and 5 sound files
What are the formats of those video files...file size, file extension, video compression, audio compression, interlaced or progressive, pixel aspect ratio.
(Brand/Model/Settings of the camera that recorded the videos might give us some or most of that type of information.) What are the pixel dimensions of your one photo? What is the nature of those 5 sound files (.wav, .mp3....music or narration)?
Let us start here. The answers should be in the details above.
We will be watching for your progress when you have time.
Thank you.

Maybe find a local who can translate for you. I don't know what to tell you for dealing in another country for service on your computer.
I can offer you something you can do if you want to give it a try. You'll need a backup of your data in your Home folder because you need to erase the drive. You'll also need a solid, preferably fast, internet connection.
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Speed Grade Crashes when rendering

SpeedGrade crashes on me when I try to render graded footage to an h.264 file.  I have tried both mts footage from the canon xh-a1 that has been converted to quicktime as well as footage straight out of the 5D Mark 2.  I can grade the footage, but every time I try to render the footage I get, 100% render completion and then SpeedGrade crashes.  Also no file is ever created from the output. Very Frustrating.  Any thoughts on what could be the problem.
    Thanks

I have been using the English version and It crashes all the same.

Thank you for sending the crash report. This is a known issue and only affects Italian builds. We have isolated this and working on a fix. Please stay tuned and use an English version of SpeedGrade in the meantime. Thanks

My new iMac with FCPX crashes when rendering complex templates and crashes when exporting with Motion 5
Using Motion 5.0.6 and Final Cut Pro X 10.0.7 on New iMac (December 2012)  Mountain Lion,
    Intel Core i7 quad-core a 3,4GHz, Turbo Boost fino a 3,9GHz
    32GB di SDRAM DDR3 a 1600MHz - 4 x 8GB
    Fusion Drive da 3TB

During the rendering of complex FCPX mac crashes and I have to force a restart.
I also happens when I try to export movies with Motion 5.
Does anyone have the same problem with my new iMac?

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it, then drag or copy it — do not type — into the Terminal window:
    find . $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
Press return. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "35." Please post it in a reply.

  • After Effects crashes when rendering to H264

    Hi,
On one of my computers, After Effects Crashes when rendering to H264. It always chrashes when doing the last frame of a clip. I think its when muxxing the m4a and the m4v together...
Does anyone have a solution? maybe there is some odd codec trash going on?
    Thanks in advance!

In every version of AE that has been capable of exporting h.264 the quality has been significantly lower than exporting with an app that gives you the option of multi-pass rendering. This has always been true for MPEG codecs that use inter frame (temporal) compression. You just can't get the same quality without multi pass compression. This goes back to the first use of MPEG streams.
AE CS6 may have H.264 encoding broken internally, but any pro has never used AE to render highly compressed delivery codecs because AE was never designed to be the right tool for the job.

  • Premiere Pro & Premiere Elements Crash When Open Together?

Anyone have a problem with Premiere Pro & Premiere Elements crashing when open together?
I have PE10 and am doing a trial of Premiere Pro CS6.
Both crash fairly quickly when open together.
    i7 2600K
    Windows 7 64 Bit
    16GB RAM
    GTX 470
    Corsair AT 850 Watt PSU
    Thanks!

The first thiing that comes to my mind is a resources issue. As you have a stout computer, with more than adequate RAM, unless something is failing (like a stick of RAM), or perhaps the GPU, I would not expect to see what you observe. On a much less powerful machine, I have no problem running PrPro, Encore, Photoshop, Illustrator, and a word processor, all at the same time.
I would look into this ARTICLE, which starts with some general tips on setting up one's computer for running PrE, and then goes into system and OS tune-up tips (this is probably where I would start, if the intitial checklist looks OK), and then goes into troubleshooting. I would definitely look here, and especially using Event Viewer to try and track down what is happening, when the crashes occur, and also the one on tools to test RAM, GPU's, etc.).
    Good luck,
    Hunt

My Aperture/Photoshop workflow paged out on my MBP even with 8 GB RAM. Personally I recommend simply upgrading to 16 GB RAM immediately. The limited RAM may or may not be the direct cause of your SBBOD but it is very likey that your MBP is paging out, and paging out is very slow which often does cause problematic operation.
If you want to evaluate whether or not you currently have adequate RAM on board:
Look at the Page Outs number under System Memory on the Activity Monitor app before starting a typical Aperture work session and write the number down. Recheck the Page Outs count after working and write the number down again. If the page outs change (manual calculation of ending page outs number minus starting page outs number) is not zero your workflow is RAM-starved.
Ignore the pie charts and other info in Activity Monitor because they are often misleading regarding RAM usage. For RAM analysis, manually count page outs.
If your test showed that page outs increased during operation you can
    • add RAM, very strongly recommended
    • and/or simply try to run Aperture by itself after restarting, a workaround
    • Restart before Aperture work sessions to clear possible memory leaks
Personally IMO maxxing out RAM to 16 GB from OWC or Crucial is a no-brainer at today's prices. More and more, app and OS designers are (rightfully) designing to take advantage of lots of RAM.
At 60% full your HDD is not overfilled but HDDs slow as they fill so IMO you should replace it with a larger drive SSD/HDD when it gets ~70% full. Also you may want to consider moving to a Referenced-Masters workflow with the Masters on external drives to keep your internal drive from overfilling.

  • Mail crashes at launch every time

    Hi,
Mail crashes at launch every time.`
I'm on OSX Mountain Lion and it worked for a time but, suddenly, Mail began ti crash...
    iMessages crashes too.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Premier pro crashes on startup every time

Premier Pro CC 2014 crashes on startup every time. Operating system is OSX Yosemite 10.10. However, the problem begane with previous OS versions and the update did not fix the issue.
