Elements 9 Edit takes 2 mins to open

I installed Elements 9 on my shinny new HP Touchsmart TM2 and found that it took up to 2 mins (if at all) to open edit. I spoke with Adobe Tech help and they were worse than useless. As soon as they found out that my processor was only 1.2 GHz and didn't meet the spec of 1.6 GHz they didn't want to know. They just keep repeating the same phrase from their crib sheets, with no appreciation of the problem even though I told them I could run Lightroom.
Anyway I found the solution in another part of this forum. Someone was having the same problem with the Organize button, so I tried his solution. On entering the welcome screen press ctl + Alt+ shift at the same time open Organise and keep the keys press until Catalogue manager opens. Select your catalogue and select repair, enven if it says no errors, select repair anyway. This did the trick and my opening times have gone from 2 mins to 10 sec. Result!!

Installed Elements 10 on Win 7 64 bit laptop that is plenty powerful.Created a shortcut to launch Elements directly from the directory it installed in. It can take several minutes to open, if it does. Have tried Run as Admin, no difference. Sometimes nothing happens and I have to try several times to get it open. Once open I went to Preferences and turned off all Media Analysis, and all Third Party things and anything else that might be slowing it. Only imported about 50 files into the album, and it still takes so long to open I can't tell it is even trying.

Tried that...still takes many minutes to open either from the PhotoshopElements10.exe or the Organizer.exe or the Editor.exe. Nothing else on my PC is slow, and I run LOTS of things at the same time without problems. But can't get PSE to launch reliably in a timely manner when it is the only thing running. Takes about 8 min to open Organizer. From there if I launch Editor through Organizer it opens and locks up "Not Responding" for 5 minutes before I can actually do anything. This makes the program useless. With thousands of pictures to deal with..taking so long just to open 1 is nuts

All my desktop files will now only open in the photoshop elements edit page. How can this be corrected?

Now that we have your post in the correct forum, I have a few questions, please:
What is the file format of this "manual?"
What OS version are you running?
If this is Windows (a PC), then what is that file format associated with in File Types? It is likely that the particular format has been associated with PsE. If that is not what you want, the association can be changed from the Control Panel, to link it to the desired program.

Right click > Open with and choose the program to open it.

Orchestration takes more than 30 mins to open

Hi all
We have BizTalk 2013 Server, and our development enviroment is Visual Studio 2013.
Any time a new Orchestration is added to the Project.
It takes more than 30 mins to open the Orchestration
What could be the issue here?

As of now BizTalk 2013 development is supported on visual studio 2012. And it is stated in
Release note that BizTalk 2013 R2 will support Visual studio 2013.
And as far as I know BizTalk 2013 R2 is not released yet.

This issue means there is certain issue with your HOSTS file.
Just navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc on your computer, rename the HOSTS file and try to install. It will install.

Small QT videos takes long to load... oh and 1 min to open the Date & Time!

I just bought the new intel-based iMac (the 3rd choice on 4) and i can't believe how long it can take just to open a QuickTime video. _*The bigger is the file, the longer is the wait*_. I must warn you that I only tried to open .AVI and .WMV files. I installed the codecs in library/quickTime that i downloaded from apple downloads. Is it me or QT should appear instantly right when I double click on the video?
Another thing, it takes at least _*1 MINUTE just to open the DATE & TIME window*_. This is not normal at all. It takes 5 sec on the store's demo!!
I refund the 1st one because i thought maybe something was wrong with it and then the 2nd imac does the same thing. Anybody has that problem also?
Please help, i just switch from PC to mac. I dont want to be dissapointed by mac.

Well, there's a couple ways to handle this imo.
You can not let the door hit yah on the way out and go back to pc's (lol just adding some humor there)
But the best bet would be calling AppleCare and seeing if you can get someone to help troubleshoot. That would be the next step I would take. The resource is there and it beats waiting for someone with more troubleshooting skills than I to post something.
Could be a number of this but more than anything just a fluke since many others iMacs work without this issue or if they had it they aren't posting a fix.
Give AppleCare a call and have them run you though some steps like booting from dvd and performing hardware test, etc.
I hope you can find some resolution. I simply love this machine.

I can't even right-click (Windows) on the picture and choose Open With and specifiy Photoshop Elements 12. I have called Adobe several times (Case No. 185140584) and they keep saying it has been sent up to senior management and they will call me back with a solution - but to no avail! No return calls and I still can't really use the Product I paid for and downloaded. The only way I can open up a picture to edit it is to open Photoshop Elements 12 and then then click "Open" and then search for the picture on my hard drive (which takes a lot more time! I did not experience this difficulty at all with versions 4 or 9!

You failed to say which Windows system you have - I can get the "Open With" to work on my Windows 7 64bit system.
When you try to set up the "Open With", are you setting the correct target program?
It's the green one (not the red one) in the above image.
Once you have selected that program, make sure you set it as default so that a double click will open the photo in the editor.

*** FCP takes FOREVER to open on just 1 of my projects and a few more probs

This is the weirdest thing. My editors give me external HD's all the time and I plug them in, FCP opens no problem and I can work with the footage. BUT, a recent project on a HD give to me by one of my editors takes about 3-5 mins to open and then when I click on any sequence it takes a few minutes to prepare the video for display. If I click on another sequence, I have to wait more time for the video to display and so on and so on. I literally can't export the footage to Compressor b/c of this. My editor has no idea what she may have done to the settings and I've tried trashing the preferences, render folders etc and it still happens. Does anyone have any clue what's causing this and can suggest a possible fix?

most likely not. You are editing HDV, which has a long conform time when edited. There is probably so much editing done in the file that FCP has to "prepare video for display..." If it is a long sequence, or many sequences this could take some time. Did the person put all the render files on that HD as well? You could try moving the render files to another location, then deleting them from the Render Files folder on the hard drive. Move them to a place that can be ejected from your computer to ensure FCP does not try to relink. Then see if you can open it. If not, put all the render files back so you don't have to worry about losing them. You could also archive them before deleting them.

We have a website where we provide a URL to open a WebI report. But, this report is taking more than 20 mins to open.
When we try to open this report directly via Web-i / Desk-i, the report opens quickly.
As per the our investigation so far->
- Business Objects Reports web app that uses BO SDK to open BO Reports is performing very poorly. Even a simple report (no DB calls) takes 20 mins to open.
-API call report engine.openDocument(<DOC ID>) takes 20 mins.

Above is the application log information captured:
report engine.openDocument(<docId>) api call takes like 20 mins to open for report.
BO SDK openDocument(<doc id>) api call is taking long time.
JVMs for BO on the webserver have been recycled. The report-server is working fine, other report URLs on the website are working fine.
Kindly suggest on resolving this issue.

New information:
When I originally wrote this, the command script worked as advertised. That was yesterday. I've since had to add the following lines just BEFORE the call to start the oidmon.
echo Starting as9inf oidctl >> iasStartup.log
%ORACLE_HOME%\bin\oidctl server=oidldapd configset=0 instance=1 start
Sometimes me thinks that Oracle reconfigures itself at night when I'm not watching.

Elements 11 wont let me open a file?

I bought Elements 11 and a new Macbook Air about a month ago. Everything has been working great until yesterday. When I open Elements it won't let me work on any of the PSD files I've saved. All of the menu options turn light gray and won't let me open or change anything I've saved on my computer. And then eventually I have to command, option, esc to get out of Elements. I deleted and then reinstalled the program, checked for software updates...what else should I try? I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. I'd love to be able to edit my photos and open previous projects. Thank you for your help in advance!

A wacom tablet is a pad that you can draw on with a pen-like stylus instead of using a mouse.
Can you post a screenshot of what is going on? To do that press command+shift+3 and the file will appear on your desktop. To upload it you must come to the forum and start a reply, then click the little camera icon above the message composition area:

Does it open fast when you load the xml file manually in IE (without using it from the ADF / dialog)?
something like http://<host>:<port>/..../xml_original.xml ?

Taking exactly 10 min to open the task list using smartview

We are using hyperion smartview 11.1.2.2
when I connect to hyperion planning task list using smartview it is taking exactly 10 min to open the task but the same is taking only 3 seconds in our Production environment. Can someone help me out.
I have also followed the below but it did not help me out.
It might be that APS is timing out, I assume you are running OHS
if so stop OHS, go to <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\<instance_name>\httpConfig\ohs\config\OHS\ohs_component

When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage, CPU usage, Disk IO.

Click Start
Let it run for 60 secs or more and save the file (it will show you where it is being saved and what the file is called)

Premier elements 13 editor will not open.

Premier elements 13 editor will not open and gives the error A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program. I have reinstalled twice and confirmed my pc meets all the requierments.

It may be a lack of available memory (RAM). Open the Editor and click the menu:
Edit >> Preferences >> Performance
Photoshop Elements >> Preferences >> Performance (on Mac)
You can increase the amount of RAM available to elements, but never go above 90% otherwise you will have nothing left for running other open applications.
You can also allocate other volumes or an external hard drive as scratch disks which elements can then use in place of a shortage of RAM.

It has worked fine. I unimstalled and reinstalled it. Still won't work.
