Elements 9 overlay

Hi ,
I am trying to create a circluar overlay in a still picture on the timeline of Premier Elements 9.  I have used the 16 point garbage matte to create a polygon, and this works, but it does not produce the smooth circular edge I would like.  Is this possible in Elements 9, and how is it done?

Thank you Steve I will try this approach. When I was using Roxio Creator 2011 it was possible to crop to shapes other than a rectangle.  I was hoping to find a like effect in Premier Elements 9.  But guess not so will use your suggestion.
Thanks,
Jpakea

  • I no longer get my standard Firefox browser. I am loccked in to a "Elements" overlay and cannot get it removed.

I seem to be locked into to a new Firefox browser. The best I can determine it is called "Elements". Very different from the Firefox browser on my other computers. I am puzzled as to waht this is and if it is a legitimant program of Mozilla. If it is not, how do I get rid of it. I have tried to install a new Firefox program but I still get the same "Elements" browser. Please assist.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
#Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer#w_uninstall-firefox|Uninstall Firefox]] article.
'''IMPORTANT:''' On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do '''not''' check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox [[Profiles|user profile data]] will be removed from your computer.
After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:
    * '''(On 32-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
    * '''(On 64-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox''
#Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
#In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
#Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
#* On 32-bit Windows, double-click the '''Program Files''' folder to open it.
#* On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the '''Program Files (x86)''' folder.
#Look for a '''Mozilla Firefox''' folder. If you find one, right-click it and select ''Delete'' and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Black background in native Display List elements overlayed with Starling

Hello, I'm having an issue in the iPad, where all native DisplayObjects are shown with an opaque black background instead of being transparent while being displayed over Starling graphics using "nativeOverlay". This doesn't happen in the PC, in ADL, only in the iPad. Does anyone know what's causing this?
I also tested in Android, and this doesn't happen. So this is a problem only in iOS. Is this a known problem? Surely someone has tried before to overlay Flash display objects over Starling display objects and had this issue?
Any possible fixes or workarounds for this?
    Thanks!

Hello, I just found the culprit of this annoying bug.
It's StageVideo! If you play any video with StageVideo BEFORE showing any Stage3D/Starling stuff, then you'll get this behaviour (native DisplayObjects with opaque background over Starling).
This is a bug which happens to be almost 1 year old!
Please, check this out and vote to try to get this finally fixed for good!!

  • How do I turn on the GUI controls for the Focus Blur Effect in Final Cut Pro X

I can't find the setting that enables the GUI control overlay to manipulate the parameters of the Focus blur effect in Final Cut Pro X. When I have the clip and the focus effect selected I only get a center element overlay. At one point I had controls for all the other elements of this effect.
anyone know a shortcut or how I can toggle these controls back on?

I don't see any other screen controls either.
Maybe there was a change sometime, or maybe you were using a different effect?

  • Created a PDF brochure using Photoshop/InDesign

Hi, I have created a 6 page brochure.  I layed out the Artwork in Photoshop, then placed the templates into InDesign to add all of my text.
I Export as an Interactive PDF, but when I open the PDF, objects on it seem to load out of sync.  Within a couple of seconds everything is loaded, but I want everything to load instantly and at the same time so everything on the PDF is displayed together.
Any ideas as to why things load after one another?  It seems that the Text of the PDF always loads last.
It's only 1.81 MB so doubt it's anything to do with file size.

Elements on a PDF page are rendered according to the "Reading Order" - this decides which elements overlay which others, so the top ones always appear last. Depending on the complexity of each element, and the presence of transparency, it can take a second or two to complete on a slower machine - especially if there are very large bitmap images involved that need to be uncompressed before rendering.
As you're making an interactive PDF I assume flattening the layers and transparency in InDesign is not an option - that would increase loading speed by removing any need to calculate transparency mixes.

  • How can I add photos to a video without interrupting the sound of the original video?

In PE11, How can I add photos to a video without interrupting the sound of the original video?

    RLHeflin
Thanks for getting your details posted. Good job.
    You further explained
I am simply wanting to “overlay” a new visual element without disturbing the underlying audio.
A classical way to do a Premiere Elements Overlay is to hold down the Ctrl key of the computer main keyboard and drag the new clip over the area of the one you want to replace on the Timeline. That should not do anything but replace one portion of the video on the Timeline. No change in duration video or audio track if you are dealing with video linked to audio.
If you hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard, I am envising a scenario where you want to add to (not replace) some Timeline content.
A just in case note, if you have video on Video 1 and 2 and the video in 2 does not have transparent areas in it, then all you will see is the Video 2 content. I believe that Hunt eluded to that concept as a possible technique for what you might be doing.
Another just in case, if you have not seen the following Adobe documentation on arranging clips, you might be interested in the following link

  • Color shift on random pages

    Hi Everyone,
So I've been scouring the internet and the Adobe forums trying to find out a) what caused this and b) how can I fix it.
I'm working on a document that is set in CMYK and uses vector graphics I have created on the Master Page. Every page uses the Master Page, however, for SOME reason, every other page, the color shifts. So far, all of the problems and solutions out there are in regards to color profiles... but how is this possible when it's the images on the Master page that is being altered, and it's random!
On one page, the image is in what appears to be CMYK, then you go to the next page, and it's RGB! Then RGB on the next but then back to CMYK on the next! I've tried converting my profiles, I've even tried enabling pop up with profile mismatch solutions when it's reopened, I've tried changing the transparency settings from CMYK to RGB and back again, and nothing seems to work. It's really irritating and I'm about to scrap this whole document and start a new one and see if it continues to do that. But I really don't want to because we're 95% with the project.
I would think that what ever it is set to in the Master page, it would remain consistent from one page to the next. And then if it was going from CMYK to RGB on ALL the pages, that's fine, I can fix that, but I can't get the pages to be consistent.
    Any help is very appreciative.

Ok, I double checked a lot of things and here is all the info:
The vector file that I am using on the Master page (as a footer graphic) is RGB.
All of the pages have some element overlaying it, some pages only have a text box that drops down to partially cover it (not the color part, a white area), and some have an image. But there is no consistency with this information as it literally just seems to be random pages. If it were text boxes causing the issue, wouldn't it affect all the pages that have text boxes touching this region?
The Transparency blend is set to RGB.
    Here are some screenshots.
Here is page 9 how it looks in InDesign showing all of the element box lines:
And page 9 how it looks in the PDF:
Now, here is page 14 in InDesign:
And page 14 in the PDF:
Thanks for your help Rob and Peter!

  • Fit webpage to screen?

    Hi
I have a webpage that I want to display on an iPad without the user having to zoom out when they first load it.
It's a 1920x1080 page -- that is, it has a jpeg background image 1920x1080 and it has text elements overlayed in various places on it.
It's actually designed to fit on a HDTV (1920x1080) but we want the iPad to show clients what it would look like first.
    I have tried:
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width">
but it didn't make any difference -- it still appeared far too big and needed to be manually zoomed out (e.g. 50%). And when I did that (by squeezing two fingers), it immediately zoomed back to 100% when I released my fingers.
How can I make it fit to width on page load?
    TIA
    Mark

It's pretty obvious that this is a question re. web development, not "Using iPad" as the forum name suggests.
Whichever web development tool you are using, ask other people using it.
Just BTW, keep in mind that it makes little sense for a website or page to be the same size as the native screen resolution, and if only because evry browser has (multiple?) tool bar, perhaps a tab bar (or not), a status bar (or not), eventually also a frame of a few pixels width and/or scroll bars. It takes some tricks to make web content always fit perfectly... size does matter, but not the way you're indicating here.

  • Gradient Overlay in Photoshop Elements 8?

Gradient Overlay in Photoshop Elements 8? On the school laptop it has Photoshop elements 8
I want to do a text style with a gradient overlay like here (in the Bubbly text part) :
    http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-612453/tutorialsipanda-/?pg=0
But every time I do gradient it does the background not the text.
How do I use Gradient overlay on the text?
GoPDA Windows Mobile(Windows Phone) iPhone Android Tips

Edit: I was unable to view the text example you linked.
One way you can do this is to use a clipping mask:
Here is a video which shows how to apply a gradient to text using a clipping mask:
    http://www.pxleyes.com/video-tutorial/photoshop-elements/10901/Versatile-Gradient-Text.htm l
Above video is for PSE 6 but the method is the same. She might call it a clipping group instead of clipping group. (Clipping group = clipping mask; Adobe changed the name not the function.)
Note: Hold in the shift key as you pull the gradient to constrain the gradient so it pulls evenly.

  • New Problem with Premiere Elements 8-Blue overlay over video

I'm still trying to begin using the trial version of Premiere Elements and have a new problem.  When I add video files to the project, they are displayed with a blue coating over the whole video when it is played, or in many cases it is just black with no video.  If I click in the screen, I see
the stopped video as it shoiuld be (clear), but as soon as I start playing the video, then nothing works. I hear the audio but the video is either black or has a blue overlay making it difficult  to even see what is on the screen.  I've tried changing to software rendering during playback with no help.  The program is unusable as it is.  I also have problems adding files to the project when I try to add from files and folders.  I can't select multiple files and when I try to add one at a time, the 2nd file replaces the first instead of being added.  I installed using the compatibility options in Win 7 because the application is listed as being incomaptible (even though Adobe claims it is Win 7 compatible.)  I would really love to have this program work.  Any suggestions.  I  have a fairly powerful computer except for the graphics being Intel integrated rather than a separate card.

To answer my own question, disabling "Enable GPU" seems to eliminate the blue overlay.  I found a reference to it on a page that previously was not available.

  • If I upgrade to photoshop elements 12 from 10, will  I lose all my stored actions and overlays or will I have to reinstall them all?

I recently purchased a NIkon D4s and my photoshop elements 10 will not accept the RAW files from it.  Someone from this community told me to upgrade to 12 and it will.  If I do so, will I lose my actions and overlays or will they simply transfer to the new 12?  I don't want to reinstall all of them.  It is a pain!!!

Yes, you will need to reinstall everything.

  • 3D: Create Painting Overlay for a single element?

This relates to the 3D painting tools. Specifically it relates to cases in which the model file has one material assigned to many individual elements.
I see that I can create a template for the file as a whole (all elements listed in the 3D tab) using the "Create Painting Overlay" feature. However I do not see a way to create a template for individual elements.
Just so you understand where I'm coming from, the way I normally do this is by rendering a separate UVW Template in 3D Studio Max for each element. And then using Bridge to import into Photoshop (CS6) as a layers.
    Thanks for any help.

Well thanks for the reply at least. I think with the number of views on this topic that someone would have answered if it were possible. Hopefully it's a feature that will be added in the future.

  • Video overlay issue after I moved from trial to purchased premiere elements

I was using the trial version of premiere elements and was happy with the product. So I decided to buy it. When I did this and put in the serial number I noticed all my video / title overlays are now black. places in my video where I dont have overlay there isnt a problem.
Why did this happen when I switched from trial to purchased product? How do I fix it?

Though I have never read of such problems, let's look at a few possibilities.
You mention "Opacity," and that got me to thinking. Select one of the Clips, that displays as black - click on it. Go to Effects>Edit Effects, to get the Effects Control Panel. Check the Opacity setting (one of the Fixed Effects on every Video Clip). What is that set to?
Test 02 - Dbl-click on one of those offending Clips, to open it in the Source Monitor. Does it play properly there? As that is accessing the physical file on the HDD, and not the editable version on the Timeline, that might tell us something about the file.
Also, what are the specs. of the files, that are not displaying? The reason that I ask is that there are/were a few limitations of the trial (think that the message might still be a sticky at the top of the main forum - not the discussions page - and that it alternates to one about Macs. Wait for it to display, and click on "See Details," to see if maybe there is something there. There are modules in PrE, that require "activation," when one goes to the full-paid version. This activation is usually done transparently, and the user is seldom aware that it has taken place. For it to take place, that computer WILL need to be connected to the Internet.
In your Timeline, do you have red lines over your problem Clips? If so, hit Enter/Return to Render the Timeline for best quality playback. Does that help?
Last, I would check my video driver, and update to the latest one available. My thinking here is that though a video display issue should be rather global for the display/playback in PrE, perhaps it's having problems, where you have two Video Tracks (that does require a bit more power, than just a single Video Track), and perhaps an OS update has rendered that video driver obsolete. That does usually affect the full display of the GUI and also all playback, but again, what you describe is not normal, so if we eliminate all possibilities, we might be able to zero in on the issue.
As you can see, I am just thinking aloud here, as I do not recall this issue ever being posted before. Also, just because something should happen (like PrE easily going from trial to full-paid, with just the S/N), does not mean that it will always happen, as it should.
Good luck, and wish that I had more for you.

  • Installing elements for 10.6.8 and overlaying logo on video?

    Hi,
Just downloaded the trial of Premiere Elements, but it won't work as I am on a 32bit mac about 6 years old - running 10.6.8.
Please can someone tell me where I can get the right trial version for my OS?
    Thanks so much!
Also - this is the ONLY thing I am trying to do here:
I need to make videos with a logo overlaid in them. Either mooving image with my log on top or a slideshow of still photos, also with my logo on top.
Can Premiere Elements do this? if so, how? or please could you give me a link to where I can find instructions that are easy to undertand for a video novie like me?? :-)
I have tried iMovie and all sorts of other free mac video editors. In all the versions, my .png file is being imported with either a solid white or solid black background - even though I saved as a PNG 24 with transparency - and saving in exactly the same way for web graphics, works GREAT... (with the correct transparency) I also tried using psd files and tiffs (transparent tiffs) and got the same problems.
In fact in iMovie my png file gets imported with the graphics bleeding WAY beyond how it looks in my image editor... never seen that before, its really weird - anyone know why this is happening and how to fix?
Please can someone help me - if I need the full version of Premiere then I will have to look for anoher solution but I don't mind buying Elements if it works how I want and is EASY to do what I need.
    Thanks a lot! Clare :-)

Hi thanks for all the replies everyone. I am amazed that something this simple can take so many people so much time to not solve it though.
The first thing I posted was as clear as possible, do you really not understand what I am asking here?!

Not that far up - there has only been a few replies. The download manager did NOT let me choose my OS, and when I tried to use what I spent nearly 4 hours downloading, it told me it would only work on 64 bit systems therefore I presumed mine must not be that.
The intel core due thing is what I copied from my 'about this mac' area.
Hope you can still help me. Thanks.
