Elements changing photo exposure time

I am using PSE 9 on a new Mac but have had a similar but not identical problem using PSE 8 on a PC with Vista. It occurs with 3 different Canon cameras. When I transfer an image from my camera to the organizer it backs up the time the image was taken exactly 1 hour ( for example an image taken at 3:05 appears as 2:05 in the organizer). Then if I move it to the editor and back to the organizer with or without any editing it backs the time up 1 additional hour. The time keeps backing up 1 hour each time the image moves from the organizer to the editor workspace and back. Adobe has been no help and as it has occurred with different cameras and different computer operating systems someone else has to have had this problem. Thoughts and possible solutions would be much appreciated. It drives me nuts when I am told they have not heard of this problem.

I recently got back from Europe and didnt change the time on my camera as I went so when iPhoto sorted the photos it splits the days up by Australian time (the camera was set to this) not the local >time of where I was.
Isthere a way of changing the time stamp to -8 hours from the timestamp?
No that is in the image and could only be modified by an image editor - like photo shop elements
also, can I do an automator action to change the time on all photos by -8 hours to make them correct to where they were taken?
Even easier - select the photos and goto the Photo menu ==> adjust date and time

  • Not allowed to change date and time for some photos; why?

    I have some images that I scanned in of old photos.  I'm trying to change the date and time and location to reflect the time the original photo was taken.  I know how to do it in the menu system, but when I try to change the original data it tells me they are of a file type that won't allow this metadata to be changed.  They are simple JPEG's so I'm not sure what the problem is.  Do I need to convert it to some other format first to be able to do this?  Any ideas would be helpful...

    Hello Toran,
    are trying to change the date and time of the versions only, or are you trying to change the date and time of the masters too? If you are using
         Meta Data -> change date and time
    deselect "also change master file", this causes the problem, the new Aperture version seems not to allow to change the date and time of masters.
    There have been long discussions on this problem, see e.g. this thread; I do not know if somebody has found a solution by now,

  • Why do I get lots of noise in my photos on the D30 at long exposure times with 100 ISO speed? Help!

    So I'm using a Canon D30 (3.1 megapixel). My ISO speed is set to 100, but when take phots at very slow shutter speeds I get a lot of noise. And I mean a lot. Can anybody help?

    Long exposure time is the 2nd main way to get noise in an image.  Not a lot you can do other than post processing.  How long an exposure?  Perhaps a compromise like ISO 200 and a shutter that is half as long (twice as fast) would be slightly better if you played around with it.  Or perhaps that would be even worse.

  • JMF and Webcam - change exposure time settings

    Hello together,
    i have a problem with the JMF. I want to set the exposure time of my Webcam. is this with the JMF possible?
    Or is it possible to set this with DirectShow and use it the in Java with this Settings?
    Platform independence is at the moment not significant!
    Thanks for Help,
    fridl

    If you can do it with the DirecShow API, then you can just write a JNI function that calls some C code that sets the exposure using the DirecShow API to set it for you from Java.
    But otherwise no. That's not something you can modify via JMF, per my knowledge.

  • Photoshop changing photo orientation

    Since getting my new computer (a Dell PC) Photoshop Elements 7 has been changing the orientation of my photos when I import them.
    I always bring my photos from my SD card to my computer using Microsoft Office Windows Manager. I sort through them, decide which ones to keep and change them 'right side up' if needed. Then I use File>Open to import into Elements the pictures I want to edit and go from there. I've been using these programs like this for a couple years on my old computer without a problem. Now, since getting my new computer when I bring the pictures into elements, the photos that were made 'right side up' in Picture Manager are sideways again and have to be righted a second time using Image>Rotate. I have no idea why this would be happening. Is it something in Elements or is this caused by something in Windows Manager? Please help, it's really annoying.

    Unlike the books, calendars do not change the orientation of a frame depending on the orientation of the photo dropped into it.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Sort photos by time created

    I use more than one camera at events and each camera has a specific prefix on the photo numbers (ex. EW1_ and EW2_).  I'd like to be able to sort these photos by time created rather than date created so they are listed in an order of how the event happened.  Right now, the only option I see within the Finder and Automator is to sort them by date, but since the event is only one day it doesn't help me.  You would think that sorting by date would also sort the time, but it doesn't.  Any ideas?

    Really? I'm annoyed that iPhoto for iOS is sorting all my synced pictures in chronological order. They don't appear in the custom order I've put them in iPhoto or Aperture. I don't want them in random order, but most of my iPhoto/Aperture albums on my Mac are in a particular order so they tell a story. While I do my best to to keep them approximately in chronological order, sometimes a later one just looks beter coming before an earlier one. There's no way to change the order once the pictures are in iPhoto for iOS.
    I just sent Apple feedback asking to be able to manuall change the order of pictures in an album in iPhoto for iOS or for it to al least mirror the order they appear on my Mac's photo application.

  • Changing Date and Time

    I have selected both photos and event separately in several attempts to change date and time in Photos/Adjust Date and Time without success. Each time I have attempted to do so another date and time has replaced the previous one but each has been incorrect. Some dates have been inserted dating back several centuries!! The time as well as the date has been incorrect.
    I would appreciate suggestions and help in making the change correct.
    Thanks.
    Vernon

    I also have this problem. One folder in particular is affected; within it after a few times to get it into the 2000's from 1900's, it is currently showing 1539.
    I am at a loss since the batch change roller lets me select the correct year in iphoto.
    I thought it might be a glitch in the older software so upgraded to the '11 iphoto. This made no difference at all.
    This is still an issue unless the original poster got an answer or worked it out him/her self.
    I also use Picasa on the same system but since it gets the photos from iphoto, it gets its errors there too.

  • ISight camera exposure time control for astrophotography

    Does anyone know of a way, or an application that allows you to control the shutter speed/exposure time when taking a photo with an external iSight camera?
    I am trying to adapt an external iSight camera for astro-photography.  There are some excellent tutorials on how to remove the optics to expose the ccd, here.  However for certain imaging you need long exposure shots like one could achieve with a DSLR.  iGlasses is great for some control, but according to their customer support, does not allow control of the exposure time.
    For other webcams there are suggested physical modifications including the use of a soldering iron!  I am hoping that someone will be able to point me in the direction of a more elegant software solution!  Most astronomy forum users recommend getting a netbook; I can't believe that this isn't something that a mac cannot do better!
    Hope that some of you out there who know much more than I do can help out.
    Many thanks,
    Phil

    Not for what you are trying to do.
    I don't use anything like you seek, but http://www.outcastsoft.com/ASCASTROIIDC.html offers OS X software for compatible IIDC cameras (other than external iSight.)  According to their site:
    ... Apple's FireWire iSight will never be supported as it lacks IIDC modes we need and is not capable of doing extended CCD exposure times. ...
    If that is accurate, your Mac/OS X choices include acquiring:
    (1) a supported IIDC camera,
    (2) a UVC webcam that can work with something like
         http://www.phoboslab.org/log/2009/07/uvc-camera-control-for-mac-os-x
    (3) or  a DSLR that offers Mac OS X compatible software for the features you need.
    If none of those are acceptable within your needed timeframe, my only remaining suggestion would be to find software that does what you want and then buy whatever camera and computer is compatible with it.

  • Capture Time Changed by System Time Zone?

    Hi All,
       In Lightroom 1.4, changing the system time in Windows XP changes the capture time!
       This seems crazy...I take photos in different time zones, and have the camera set correctly in that timezone (or adjust it to be correct in Lightroom). I'd rather not change my system timezone to "Bangkok" to correctly see data for photos from Thailand.
       Anyone have a solution or workaround? Is this fixed in LR 2?
    Thanks!
       Alex

    This post seems to explain a lot.
    http://www.lightroomforums.net/index.php?topic=359.msg13336#msg13336
    So I'm stuck having Lightroom adjust times based on the timezone of my OS? Or is there a workaround?...maybe saving and re-importing metadata? (Can't get this to work either, even using some complex procedure I found using Exiftools and a batch file...)
    I can understand the capture time relying on the OS for timezone at the time of import, but Lightroom should not continuously adjust it every time you view...
    Thanks,
       Alex

  • Elements 12 Photo Editor stopped working

    I recently purchased a brand new HP with Windows 8.  I downloaded PS Elements 12 from Amazon last month and a few weeks in, Photoshop Editor stoped working.  I ended up uninstalling it then reinstalling and it worked great for a few days before the Editor crashed again.  This pops up:  "Photoshop Elements 12 Editor has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
    I am beyond frustrated.  I am trying to get a photography career going and I don't have time for this.  I'm not very computer savvy when it comes to issues like this and honestly have no idea what to do.  I obviously can't keep uninstalling it.  I also don't know if this is a Windows issue or Adobe.  Please help!

    I'm replying from my e-mail so I hope this works!  Couldn't figure out how to reply on the Adobe discussion board.  But I checked the updates and it said they're all up-to-date and to answer your questions, yes it crashes every time I try to open a photo.  If I'm in the organizer then right click a photo to open in Editor that notification pops up.  So yes, the organizer works just not the Editor.
    As far as the admin rights, I right-clicked the icon and ran to do so if that's what you're talking about.  Like I mentioned before, I have NO idea what the heck is wrong.  If it's Windows or Adobe...all my friends say I should've gone with an iMac.  Haha.  Sigh

  • Setting exposure time in C

    I am using C to setting exposure time for my Camera Link CCD,exposure time should be 12 microsecond.
    I know there is a function imgSetCameraAttributeNumeric()/imgSetCameraAttributeString(),but which constant refers to exposure time?
    How to set?Plz give me an example.
    Thank u very much!

    Side note, if you're using C99 (you should!), you can include <stdbool> and use bool/true/false.
    Side note #2.  There is no way, in C, to get the size of an array.  You need to use a "trick" to know your size.  Typically, when using code like you have, one does:
    #include <stdbool>
    typedef struct
    char sprite;
    bool walkable;
    } FIELD;
    const static FIELD field_table[] =
    {' ', true},
    {'#', false},
    {0, false}
    And then you loop until my_field.sprite == 0.  Alternatively, you could add a "#define FIELD_TABLE_LENGTH 2" or something, but that adds potential errors if you were to add an entry at a later date and forget to change then length.
    stdbool is a nice hack where you have
    #define true 1
    #define false 0
    as for the size of an array, since it's known at compile time, sizeof will do
    size_t s = sizeof(field_table) / sizeof(FIELD);
    and since we're targeting C99, then proper initialisation of structs looks like this:
    FIELD a = {.sprite = '#', .walkable = true };

  • NI 1772 camera exposure time adjustment resolution

    What is the exposure time adjustment resolution capability for the NI 1772 camera?  I'm getting only 10ms.  Can I get 5 or even 1ms resolution?

    Hi Rob,
    I am unclear what the problem you are seeing is. Vision Builder AI does not appear to impose any restrictions on the granularity of the exposure time. You can put any value with precision down to sub-microsecond levels (no need to go by units of 10 microseconds).
    As for the changes in intensity vs exposure time, keep in mind that image sensors and the hardware that reads them don't necessarilly behave linearly and so you may not see such a linear relationship in the data. While you said that you saw no change in intensity from 70us to 80us, were you looking at a single pixel or an average of the entire sensor? If you average it over the whole sensor I think you'll see the difference (although it might be small and less than a single count).
