Elements editor isn't working

Why would I buy this product when during the trial the editor isn't working?

Hi MegJT,
Sorry for the trouble.
If you are working on Windows
Please follow these steps:
Try to rename SLCache to Slcache.old in the following location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
and
SLStore to Slstore.old
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
and Right Click on the Photoshop Elements 12 icon and run as administrator.
Let us know if this works.

  • Elements Editor 7 stopped working...Help...(possibly visual runtime c++)

I have Windows Vista 64 bit with 4.00 GB RAM (If that matters) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.  It had worked perfectly fine since I bought it in March of 2009 until about 3 weeks ago (Only the Editor stopped working - the Organizer still works fine).  It was working fine one day, and then the next day, I tried to load the Editor and I got this message:  "Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has stopped working....A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  (Of course, no notifications of any solutions have magically appeared from the solution fairy.)  I can't think of anything that changed on my system between the two days.  As far as I know, I don't have any viruses.  There may have been a Windows update, but I really don't know since all of that is automatic.  I had been working on creating a card for which I had been using some clip art that I had downloaded, but I don't see how that could be a problem...
Anyway, I started searching for a solution and couldn't find anything definitive.  Over the course of a few days, as I kept trying to load the Editor in the hopes that I had been visited by the magical solution fairy and all was fixed, I got another message a couple of times.  I don't have the exact message because it only appeared a couple of times and then it went back to that generic message.  The new message was something having to do with a Microsoft visual runtime c++ error.  I did find a solution that mentioned that error, but it had to do with uninstalling the visual runtime c++ program and reinstalling it.  Let me just say right here that I am not all that computer savvy.  I can follow directions as well as the next guy, and any success I have ever had in fixing my own computer problems came because I am stubborn and I don't like to leave problems unresolved.  However, I do NOT like to delete programs.  The thought of deleting and changing things on my computer gives me nightmares. ( I almost bought a Mac because I was told that I wouldn't have to fix things as much and fiddle with programming and such.)  Anyway, so I haven't tried to uninstall the runtime c++ thingy because I don't know what it is.
So, my next step was to contact Adobe.  Boy wasn't that a disappointment!!  $30 for phone support??!! When I can barely understand the person I'm speaking with?!  No thank you!!  I am very disappointed in Adobe customer service right now.  I could even understand maybe $10, but I am not a wealthy person and I have to be mindful of every dollar I spend.  When I could buy PSE 8 for $50 (with rebates) on Amazon right now, why would I spend $30 for support and not even be sure that they could fix the problem....
Anyway, so here I am.  I am asking for help.  Yes, they directed me to the troubleshooting page which has 25 solutions (+ #26 which is paying the $30 for support).  I tried a couple of things, but frankly, I am right back to the issue of being terrified about changing or deleting anything on my system.  Plus, that solution list looks like it would take forever!  I don't have that kind of time.  I live on a very busy large farm and I am a homeschooling mom to three young children.  I don't have time to be fooling around with a program that should be working just fine.  Why can't these things be more simple??
So, what should I do?  Is there a solution?  Or do I have to do the troubleshooting 25-step program? (Just sign me up for AA, too.  I'm sure I'll need it after all this.)  If that is the only thing I can try (other than the $30 support), should I just buy PSE 8?  I wonder if I would have the same problem with it.  I was led to believe that support for PSE 8 would be free (since it is a newer version).  Is that just an assumption on my part?
So, any solutions or ideas??  (By the way, I wouldn't mind trying some of those 25 steps if someone could just tell me that they weren't going to totally mess up my system.)
    Thanks!

  • "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"...message

I am very very very new to this...and have had so much trouble I'm ready to ask for a refund!  After installing and watching tutorials and not being able to load any pictures to the 'organizer'...(my autoplay does not show the "Organize and Edit Photos" or show the Photo Downloader...I finally called Customer Service.  He told me I needed to uninstal and reinstall.  Ok..I've done that.  But it's still not on Autoplay.  At least he showed me where the file menu is on the 'organizer', so I could get some pictures in there.  But when I click on 'Edit Photos', I get the pop-up message, "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"....It never HAS worked....This thing just came out of the box today and has too many problems for a newby like me.  What is the problem?  Actually, there are the two problems.  HELP!

On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works. Let me know if you have any comments.
    Thanks

  • Error message - photoshop elements editor has stopped working

Hi - I've installed photoshop elements 8 twice, and I still get the error message "photoshop elements editor has stopped working" .  I can't seem to get beyond this point.  My system is Windows Vista.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

I suddenly started getting the same error message and was reaching my wits end in trying to find a solution.
This may sound bizarre, and you may not have the same situation as I found, but check your system/Windows date setting.
Somehow, the year on my system had become 2096. I corrected it, and bingo! PSE 8 Editor works again.

  • Vista 64-bit issues "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"

I recently purchased Elements 8 and to this point have been unable to use the editor function.  I can "Organize" without complaint but when I attempt to edit a photo I get a message telling me that "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working."  I have attempted to uninstall and re-install and the result has been the same.  While researching online I see that there are a number of people that have this issue but have been unable to find any real solution.  Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Editor_cra shes
It's very likely that your issues are unrelated to the fact that you're running on 64-bit Vista as opposed to 32-bit Vista.

  • My adobe premiere elements editor doesn't work

I recently purchased Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements as a package. My Photoshop works fine, but my premiere isn't working. The organizer allows me to import photos and videos, but it won't allow me to do any edits. I have windows 8.1 with my PC. Any ideas as to what i can do to let the editor for premiere work?
    Thanks

Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
How far do you get into Premiere Elements 13....Can you Sign In and see the Welcome Screen and/or one of the workspaces?
    a. Do you import source media into the Premiere Elements Editor, and the program freezes and crashes when you try to do that
(if so, what are the properties of your source media?)
    or
    b. Is it that you cannot import any file into the Premiere Elements Editor- you cannot get beyond Video and New Project in the Welcome Screen
    or
    c. Is it that you can import source media into the Premiere Elements Editor, you start to edit the source media on the Timeline, then the program freezes or crashes
(if this is the case, what are you doing in the Timeline when this happens?)
Above I have taken for granted that you are importing into the Premiere Elements Editor with one of the Add Media choices like Files and Folders. Are you instead importing into Elements Organizer 13 and trying to switch from there to the Premiere Elements workspace for video editing?
For whatever is happening, are there any error messages associated with the event? Have you checked the Computer/Manage/Event Viewer/Windows Logs and its Applications for error or warning messages?
Bottom line, please supply more details so that we can plan troubleshooting strategy for your issue.
    Thank you.

  • Elements (Editor) has stopped working...

    Hello all,
I installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 on my Windows Vista Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop last month and everything worked fine. Then suddenly, when I tried to open it today, the following error shows up:
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 (Editor) has stopped working.
I have scanned through the forums and have only noticed people complaining about the 'Organizer' not working. Has anyone seen this error?? Elements does not even start anymore. Right when double-click on the icon, a window pops up with the error above. Anyone have any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

  • How come my adobe premiere elements 11 isn't working?

I keep getting an error code and i dont know why. It says there is a problem with licencing or something

    etan07
We would like to help you but you do not present the information to help us to help you.
Please consider posting the following information
    1. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running on?
    2. What error code are you getting and what are you doing with the program when you get that message?
"Licensing or something" is not going to do for a description.
Has the program worked for you and suddenly will not? Or, are you just starting to use the program?
We just had a success story dealing with a Premiere Elements licensing issue within the past 24 hours.
The solution might work for you also. But we need to know at least the above information before we can
    marching into a licensing issue.
We will be watching for your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop Elements download isn't working

I'm a longtime Photoshop/mac user and am trying to download a trial version of Photoshop Elements so that I can figure out and then show a client how to do something with it. The download assistant has been hung at "less than a minute" for some time. Is there another way to download Photoshop Elements directly?

You can directly download the trial version thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • My serial number for my PS elements 7 isn't working?

I have had it for a really long time now. It had it on my old desktop and my old laptop but those both broke a while back. I figured out how to install it to my new computer but it keeps telling me that my serial number is wrong, any ideas?

You need to contact Adobe directly using the link below. Use the dropdown menu for boxes (1) & (2) to scroll down the list and choose:
    1. Adobe Photoshop Elements
    2. Adobe ID, and signing-in
    3. Click on the blue button: Still need help? Contact us – then click the area marked chat 24/7, then click “start chat ”
It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get the problem fixed right away. Have your serial number available. The agent can directly troubleshoot your system if you agree to activate the Adobe Connect add-on.

  • My serial number for PS Elements 7 isn't working. I purchased it in 2011 and the computer that I was using it on broke. I finally got the download link from tech support but it keeps telling me my serial number isn't valid, now what?

I've been trying to figure this out for a long *** time now and it's getting seriously old. Anyone have any advice?

    Hi,
Did you buy PSE 7 as a download or as a set of discs?
PSE 9 was available in 2011 so I suspect you might have the disc set as I doubt Adobe would be selling older versions.
I believe that in the days of PSE 7, the download version and disc version had a different range of serial numbers and the two could not be interchanged.
If your serial number is for a disc version, then you need the installation discs to install it on your new system.

  • Elements 7 editor has stopped working

Dear elements 7 community, I have using elements 7 for four years on my windows 7 computer with very little problem. It seemed a very stable program. This program came free. I also use Lightroom 4
However now my elements editor has stopped working. Either a windows dialogue box appears stating that elements is not responding and it is looking for solutions. Or more often you try and launch one of the editing suites like "guided edits" and it starts to load for a second and then reverts back to the fix page. An edit in progress message appears across the loaded image even though nothing was achieved.
Could any of you accomplished users tell me the problem. Feel free to ask for more information. Thank you

No. It would have fixed it if that were the issue.
Did you make sure you have enough virtual memory allocated for Photoshop Elements to use when you went through the troubleshooting. I have a DELL. I had to change my virtual memory setting to get Photoshop CS3 to run.  With the factory Page File setting, Photoshop would crash immediately with the generic Windows message about Photoshop needing to close and Windows is looking for a solution.
    See this document for specifics.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404939.html
On the Vista machine: Unless you have UAC (Vista's User Account Control) turned off,  you'll have to be the administrator and give permission to yourself to do this. Not sure about your Windows 7 machine...
Step 4 in the above is a bit vague. They want you to click under System on the sentence that says "See the name of this computer". In the screen that pops up, look in the left hand pane for "Advanced System Settings" and click it. In the dialog that pops up select the "Advanced tab". In the box that is headed by Performance, click Settings. Next go to the "Advanced" tab that comes up in this dialog. Next to the word Virtual Memory click the change button. Change to desired custom size on this screen.
Here's a tut with screen shots:
    http://www.windowsreference.com/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory-page-file- size-in-vista/
If you don't know the amount of RAM, your computer has:  Click the Vista start icon; then right click the word computer in the right hand pane; select Properties. A screen displaying all of your computer specs including amount of RAM installed will come up.
