Elements Editor Problem

I just bought Photoshop Elements 11 and am having trouble editing photos.  Sometimes I can click on the editor icon and it works, most of the time nothing happens.  Tried closing and reopening the software with no success.

Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
Solution 1:
Reset all elements preferences. Go to
Win - "C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0\Editor"
Mac - "~Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Settings"
Delete everything present in this folder and then realaunch PSE.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4: Try launching PSE Editor directly from the .exe present in folder  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\".

can anyone help, please? I am new to photoshop elementsand am a bit frustrated. I am trying to do some editing but keep getting the message that the 'editor is busy' -' the command could not be completed because the editor was busy, Please finish the current operation and try again'
However I am not aware that I have any items open in the editor to cause this. Please let me know how I can trace the 'fault' and rectify it so that I can do some more editing
    Many thanks,Dave.

    Hi Dave
I’m assuming you are using Windows.
    1) Press the three keys simultaneously (Crtl+Alt+Delete)
    2) Choose Start task Manager
    3) The Processes tab is the second from the left after Applications - click on it
    4) Look down the list to find any Adobe applications that may be running
    5) Click on the named application to highlight it then hit the button “End Process”
N.B. If you are using a Mac you will need to go toActivity Monitor in Applications.

Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X".
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but get the same error message.

Which version of OS X do you have? It's not clear from your post whether "installed an upgrade" means you just installed PSE 13 as an upgrade or you installed an update to PSE 13, like ACR 9 or 13.1. Please clarify.

  • Aperture 3 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 problems.

I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, which I have setup as plugin for Aperture 3. In Aperture preferences the photos are exported as 8 bit TIFF 300 DPI, no profile and automatically stack new versions selected in general.
I right click on selected image (version) in Aperture and select edit with Elements, this create another version of the same photo in Aperture but increasing size from say 5MB to around 40MB.   The Elements programme opens in Elements editor but the selected image is not there, I can only drag it in from Aperture.   I then edit the image, then click save, it open a box save as and to a wierd folder like Uwvo2vg  etc.   I click save, get message saying it will overwrite file of same name, click save  using a unique name.   When I go back to Aperture, the edited file is not there and when I search for the unique name, nothing comes up.

I had somewhat similar problems running Elements 10 as external editor, but under 10.6.8. The simplest fix is to send .psd's instead of .tiff. You can change that in preferences.
If you must use .tiff (I do, becaues PTLens doesn't like psd) you have to change the file extension to .tiff in the save dialog. Elements saves as .tif and Aperture saves as .tiff. Notice the number of 'f' at end of extension.
Here's what was happening to me, which is a little different:
    • when you send to external editor, Aperture saves a .tiff and opens it in in Elements
    • you do your work and close the file
    • Elements saves as .tif, and so doesn't overwrite the Aperture tiff.
    • Aperture doesn't know the .tif exists so it shows you the un-edited .tiff that if made at the beginning
I get around this at the save dialog in Elements. Basically Elements goes into a Save As kind of dialog, so if I add the extra 'f' at the end, Elements asks if I want to over-write the existing file, and when I say yes the changes show in Aperture.
If you open Elements and go to 'Recent Files' (or something like that), you can see the .tif and .tiff files together. If you delete the .tiff and add the extra 'f' to the Elements .tif, the changes will show in Aperture.
What you shouldn't be doing is changing the name of the file in Elements. For the edits to show in Aperture you need to save the file with the same name and change the extension to .tiff. The file that Elements saves must have exactly the same name as the one Aperture made, because that's the file that Aperture knows about.
If you do a library database repair, Aperture will find these .tifs and add them to the library, but they won't be where they should be. The show up in a recovered file folder at the bottom.
Note that Elements 8 didn't have this kind of trouble. And note that I'm not running Lion, so some of the behaviors I describe may be different that what Lion users see.

created by Barbara B. in Photoshop Elements - View the full discussionIf the problem is with the Graphic Novel or Comic filter, those don't work in PSE 11 any version of OS X after 10.7, IIRC. For other filters, did you delete all your existing preferences on upgrading to 10.10? • Photoshop Element Editor 12 does not start

Few days ago I installed Photoshop Elements 12. It worked fine, however today I decided to re-roll my system to the version prior to PSE installation. After reinstalling PSE12 I couldn't launch Editor - Organiser works fine.
Editor doesn't start if I try to opent it directly from .exe file, from Organiser or from Welcome screen. In Task Manager Photoshop Elements Editor program appears for a few seconds, later PDapp.exe appears and nothing happens.
I tried to reinstall the program removing all folders (also from "AppData" folder) but it hasn't helped.
Any idea how to solve the problem?

I decided to restore system because of some strange short (1-3s.) hang-ups.They started after installing last windows update.
I am using Win 7. I tried normal normal uninstaller.
Finally, I deleted some folders in CommonFiles/Adobe connected with PSE12 and with licence manager and then after reinstalling PSE I need to sign in to my Adobe account and everything works fine now.

  • Elements Editor 7 stopped working...Help...(possibly visual runtime c++)

I have Windows Vista 64 bit with 4.00 GB RAM (If that matters) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.  It had worked perfectly fine since I bought it in March of 2009 until about 3 weeks ago (Only the Editor stopped working - the Organizer still works fine).  It was working fine one day, and then the next day, I tried to load the Editor and I got this message:  "Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has stopped working....A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  (Of course, no notifications of any solutions have magically appeared from the solution fairy.)  I can't think of anything that changed on my system between the two days.  As far as I know, I don't have any viruses.  There may have been a Windows update, but I really don't know since all of that is automatic.  I had been working on creating a card for which I had been using some clip art that I had downloaded, but I don't see how that could be a problem...
Anyway, I started searching for a solution and couldn't find anything definitive.  Over the course of a few days, as I kept trying to load the Editor in the hopes that I had been visited by the magical solution fairy and all was fixed, I got another message a couple of times.  I don't have the exact message because it only appeared a couple of times and then it went back to that generic message.  The new message was something having to do with a Microsoft visual runtime c++ error.  I did find a solution that mentioned that error, but it had to do with uninstalling the visual runtime c++ program and reinstalling it.  Let me just say right here that I am not all that computer savvy.  I can follow directions as well as the next guy, and any success I have ever had in fixing my own computer problems came because I am stubborn and I don't like to leave problems unresolved.  However, I do NOT like to delete programs.  The thought of deleting and changing things on my computer gives me nightmares. ( I almost bought a Mac because I was told that I wouldn't have to fix things as much and fiddle with programming and such.)  Anyway, so I haven't tried to uninstall the runtime c++ thingy because I don't know what it is.
So, my next step was to contact Adobe.  Boy wasn't that a disappointment!!  $30 for phone support??!! When I can barely understand the person I'm speaking with?!  No thank you!!  I am very disappointed in Adobe customer service right now.  I could even understand maybe $10, but I am not a wealthy person and I have to be mindful of every dollar I spend.  When I could buy PSE 8 for $50 (with rebates) on Amazon right now, why would I spend $30 for support and not even be sure that they could fix the problem....
Anyway, so here I am.  I am asking for help.  Yes, they directed me to the troubleshooting page which has 25 solutions (+ #26 which is paying the $30 for support).  I tried a couple of things, but frankly, I am right back to the issue of being terrified about changing or deleting anything on my system.  Plus, that solution list looks like it would take forever!  I don't have that kind of time.  I live on a very busy large farm and I am a homeschooling mom to three young children.  I don't have time to be fooling around with a program that should be working just fine.  Why can't these things be more simple??
So, what should I do?  Is there a solution?  Or do I have to do the troubleshooting 25-step program? (Just sign me up for AA, too.  I'm sure I'll need it after all this.)  If that is the only thing I can try (other than the $30 support), should I just buy PSE 8?  I wonder if I would have the same problem with it.  I was led to believe that support for PSE 8 would be free (since it is a newer version).  Is that just an assumption on my part?
So, any solutions or ideas??  (By the way, I wouldn't mind trying some of those 25 steps if someone could just tell me that they weren't going to totally mess up my system.)
    Thanks!

  • Lightroom open in elements editor raw question.

I have just got lightroom 3.3 and it imports my .dng raw files no problem. if I use the save metadata  to file  and try to open in elements editor it open the file as a .tiff. instead of opening it as a raw file with ACR. I think the roblem is the metadata is not being stored in the same directory as the image file but I can't see where to check/change this. I assume that is what is causing this to happen.

  • "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"...message

I am very very very new to this...and have had so much trouble I'm ready to ask for a refund!  After installing and watching tutorials and not being able to load any pictures to the 'organizer'...(my autoplay does not show the "Organize and Edit Photos" or show the Photo Downloader...I finally called Customer Service.  He told me I needed to uninstal and reinstall.  Ok..I've done that.  But it's still not on Autoplay.  At least he showed me where the file menu is on the 'organizer', so I could get some pictures in there.  But when I click on 'Edit Photos', I get the pop-up message, "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"....It never HAS worked....This thing just came out of the box today and has too many problems for a newby like me.  What is the problem?  Actually, there are the two problems.  HELP!

On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works. Let me know if you have any comments.
    Thanks

  • Photoshop Elements editor does not open from Lightroom edit command

I have PSE 12 and LR 4.4 on iMac 10.9.5.  My LR preference is set to PSE Editor and was done so by LR, I cannot change it.  When I try to edit in PSE, an 8 bit Tiff is created then I get the error message that "there was a problem.......".  In the details is this line:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/AdobeLinguistic.framework/Versions/3/AdobeLinguistic
Referenced from: /Volumes/VOLUME/*/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor
      Reason: image not found
I do not understand this, but the problems seems related to the Library, which, I don't know.  I had PSE 12.1, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled PSE 12.0.  It made no difference, same error message.

Before anybody asks, no the editor won't open from the startup screen nor from the right click menu when displaying a folder with pictures.

  • Vista 64-bit issues "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"

I recently purchased Elements 8 and to this point have been unable to use the editor function.  I can "Organize" without complaint but when I attempt to edit a photo I get a message telling me that "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working."  I have attempted to uninstall and re-install and the result has been the same.  While researching online I see that there are a number of people that have this issue but have been unable to find any real solution.  Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Editor_cra shes
It's very likely that your issues are unrelated to the fact that you're running on 64-bit Vista as opposed to 32-bit Vista.

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)

  • Photoshop Elements Editor 11 only wants to open once

My problem is as follows: 1) I use Photoshop Elements (11) Organisor, 2) then open the Editor to edit a specific photo, 3) close the Editor and return to the Organiser, 4) after a while I want to edit a second photo, and give the command to open the Editor; 6) the Editor doesn't want to start anymore. If I close the Organiser as well and then restart Photoshop Elements in order to open the Editor, this won't help: I have to restart my computer in order to be able to open the Photoshop Elements Editor!
I use Photoshop Elements since March 2013. This problem occurs since a few weeks. How can I solve this problem?

The File->Open Recent files show recent files list. If you are talking about files automatically reopens in PSE then there is an option on Mac under Settings->general which says "Restore..."

  • Opening Elements 12 problem

I am running Windows 7. When I tried to access Photoshop Elements12 it looked as though it was starting to open, the icon was going round but then nothing. The same happened with Premiere Elements 12where it opened as far as the opening page but again when Organiser was selected the loading 'bar' rotated and then nothing else happened. I tried Adobe support who tried a variety of solutions including loading Application Manager and logging in under a new user name but that failed also.
