Elements keyword functionality

I have been using Elements 6 and really appreciate the keywording function; in that you can create keywords as top level or nested, drag them to a selection of photos and then just click on the keyword in the same panel and view only the photos with that keyword.  I am disturbed that this functionality does not seem to be available in bridge CS4.  I see that I can create nested keywords in one panel and then click on them to assign them to a selection of photos, and I see that the assigned keywords show up in a list in the filters panel, but are not nested.  I understand that I can click on the keyword in the filter panel and see the photos with that keyword.  This seems cumbersome to me and especially surprising considering that the elements system is so elegant, why it is not used in the supposedly more sophisticated program.  I hope someone can point out to me that I am just missing something.

Elements uses a a table for keywords which makes what you describe easier to acomplish.  With Bridge the keywords are written to each photo.  So it would seem to a non-programer like me what you are asking for would be more difficult.

  • Keyword Functionality

    In Adobe Elements you could find a keyword and only that keyword. For example, assume image 1 had a keyword of baby and image 2 had a keywords of baby and mom.
    There was a way of searching for only baby without anything else...you'd get image 1 but not image 2 in the above example.
    Alas, I can't believe there isn't a way to do this in Bridge (2.1)...but if there is I can't figure it out.
    Can you please add the functionality to Bridge that it's baby brothers Elements have had for about 5 years now?

    I agree that this would be very useful. It could easily be added to the "Filter" panel- clicking once on a keyword would show images with those keywords, and clicking twice would put a little "-" sign next to the keywords and NOT show images with that keyword. You could then mix and match check-marks and minus-signs to get the filtered results you want.
    From the tutorial videos, for example, Filtering for (check) the Sofija keyword and against (minus) the, um, other girl's name would return pictures of ONLY Sofija in the content pane.

  • Use of text element in function module

    hi friends what is the use of text element i.e list headings, selection texts,text symbols in a function module. where a can see these things after giving some text into it and activated.
                                        kumar.

    hi
    <b>Text Symbols</b>
    A text symbol is a named data object that is generated when you start the program from the texts in the text pool of the ABAP program. It always has the data type c. Its field length is that of the text in the text pool.
    Text symbols, along with the program title, list headings, and selection texts, belong to the text elements of a program. Text elements allow you to create language-independent programs. Any text that the program sends to the screen can be stored as a text element in a text pool. Different text pools can be created for different languages. When a text element is changed or translated, there is no need to change the actual program code. Text elements in an ABAP program are stored in the ABAP Editor (see Text Element Maintenance).
    In the text pool, each text symbol is identified by a three-character ID. Text symbols have a content, an occupied length, and a maximum length.
    Examples for text symbols in an ABAP program:
    ID
    Contents
    Occupied length
    Maximum length
    010
    Text symbol 010
    15
    132
    030
    Text symbol 030
    15
    100
    AAA
    Text symbol AAA
    15
    15
    In the program, you can address text symbols using the following form:
    text-###
    This data object contains the text of the text symbol with ID ### in the logon language of the user. Its field length is the same as the maximum length of the text symbol. Unfilled characters are filled up with spaces. You can address text symbols anywhere in a program where it is also possible to address a variable.
    If there is no text symbol ### in the text pool for the logon language, the name text-### addresses the predefined data object space instead.
    You can also address text symbols as follows:
    ... 'textliteral'(###) ...
    If the text symbol ### exists in the text pool for the logon language, this is the same as using text-###. Otherwise, the literal 'textliteral' is used as the contents of the text symbol. This is only possible at positions in the program where a variable can occur. You can create a text symbol for any text literal by double-clicking the literal in the ABAP Editor and replacing the literal with the text symbol.
    You should use text symbols in your program whenever they need to be language-specific - for example, in a WRITEstatement.
    If you program a list whose layout depends on field lengths, you should be careful, since the field length of text symbols will be different in different languages. You should therefore set the maximum field length of the field symbol so that there is enough space to translate it into other languages. For example, the English word 'program' has seven letters, but its equivalent German translation 'Programm' has eight.
    The following example shows the use of text symbols in WRITE statements.
    SET BLANK LINES ON.
    WRITE:   text-010,
           / text-aaa,
           / text-020,
           / 'Default Text 030'(030),
           / 'Default Text 040'(040).
    If the text symbols of the above screen shots are linked to this program, the output looks as follows:
    Text symbols 020 and 040 have no text symbols. For text symbol 020, the system displays a space. This is only displayed in this case because the blank line suppression has been turned off (see Creating Blank Lines).

  • Photoshop (Elements) Keywords to iPhoto Keywords

    I haven't tried it yet, but Rob from osxhints.com has written a new script for getting Photoshop keywords assigned as iPhoto keywords. If you are switching from Windows and have been using the Photoshop Elements Organizer's Tags, you can use this to move your tags to iphoto, too.
    In Elements, first use the Organizer's Write Tags to File command before you move your photos to the Mac, then run this script:
    http://scriptbuilders.net/files/iphotoiptckeywordimportexportutilities1.0.html
    EDIT You can also use it to assign iPhoto Keywords as IPTC metadata keywords for PS and other apps that use those.

    Thanks for the info Barbara!

  • Photoshop Elements Editor Function Won't Work

    After upgrading to Windows 7, the Editior function on my Photoshop Elements 6 program stopped working. I have tried the following: Run as Administrator. No success. Compatibility Troubleshoot. No success. Reinstalling. No Success. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Please try the below solutions-
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
    2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
    3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    4.  Try launching directly from the exe of editor and organizer and see if it gets launches-

  • Elements 10 function

    can elements 10 do perspective function of crop or can it be upgraded to do this function like c3 etc?

    It can do "something close" -- you move the sliders for vertical and horizontal perspective independently to bring the image into alignment with a supplied rectangular reference grid.
    I use a free plugin that works more like what you describe -- place the 4 corners of a reference rectangle on the points of the image that should be a rectangle.

  • Request: Make Keyword 'function' Optional for Parameterless/Void Functions

    Say I have function
    doJob (startThis:function(), whenDone:function()) When I am using this function doJob(), it would be nice to be able to do
    doJob( {code_to_do_something}, {code_to_do_something});
    // instead of
    doJob( function(){code_to_do_something}, function(){code_to_do_something});Or be able to define a parameterless void function as
    var hello = {println ("Hello")}; and invoke that function using form
    hello();This would eliminate some verbosity introduced by the function keyword.

    @PhiLho
    Yes, to you just 10 character is not a big deal. But to the rest of us who have to keep repeating those 10 chars over and over in larger applications it does become a big deal.
    Your example of ar foo = {fooCall("Stuff"}; is misplaced. Why would you trap a non-void function call inside a void fn? If fooCall returns something then obviously the compiler would try to return via the calling function and this is a problem (as you point out) regardless of what the syntax is.
    My suggestion is more toward bringing sensible syntax shortcut/sugar in the language.

  • WBS element hirearchy function module

    Hi All
    Is there any function module in R3 that accepts WBS element as input and gives its hirearchy? I would like to know the function module name that accepts WBS elements in the internal table as input and gives all associated hirearchies as output in the internal table.
    Please advise
    Thanks
    Vennela

    Hi,
    we can see WBS Hierarch from cj20n tcode.
    Can you please give us an idea about what you are trying to do with WBS, extracting into Bi or other use in R/3 itself.

  • Does Photoshop Elements 4 function in Leopard on Intel Mac?

    I am aware that it is not at all supported by Adobe, but has anyone been successfully using Photoshop Elements 4 on Leopard and Intel macs of any sort?
    thank you

    I had PE4 installed and it was painfully slow and laggy that's why I tried pixelmator and I was so surprised at how wonderful it was.
    mcgrover wrote:
    I'm repeating a little from above, but at the Apple store they told me PE4 was the latest and most compatible, but when I called Adobe support, the Adobe guy told me there were compatibility issues with PE4 and Leopard, though note that some posters here seem OK with 4 and Leopard. I suggest talking to Adobe support, but they may tell you PE6 is the fix for Leopard, in which case why does 4 work with Leopard? When I told the Apple store that Adobe said that 4 had problems with Leopard, Apple said that Adobe never communicated that to them. I have no more to offer as I don't have 4 to try it. I can say that 2 is dead in the water. Still looking at Pixelator.

  • Adding Keyword Function To Smart Album?

    After creating a smart album, I click on the magnifier icon which brings up the Smart Settings box. I want to enter some keywords to the keyword section, but it is greyed out. How do I activate it? The Rating and Calendar sections are both available, but Keywords and Import Session are greyed out.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    As far as I can tell Smart Albums populate the
    keywords search information
    based on the Smart Albums location in the library.
    Try clicking on 'Library'
    then creating a smart album at the top level.
    Ah, that's the secret. Thanks. Everything works fine
    when I create a Smart Album at the top level.
    No problem -- After you have the Album created at the top level you should be able to move it to wherever you want it. Not the best design desicision in my opinion.
    This is true for me, too, but a weird way for things
    to work. Seems to me that a better way is to have all
    the keywords available as a selection.
    Yeah I don't like that either, but then I have several other complaints with the search options... perhaps version 1.1 will work a little better.

  • Web Elements Dynamic functionality

    Hello Jamie,
    I am in great hopes that you wil help me overcome my problem in regards to webelements. I've been going through lot of WE samples for crystal and have seen them working well. However I have noticed that most of the examples have hard coded the data within. Currently I am working on a project which has a requirenment to display interactive and dynamic content through crystal, I am using WE functions to achieve the functionality.
    Example: I am trying to build a checkbox which should display dynamic content based on the users promtp selection. Like if a user selects country then the chkbox should display all the countries from the DB. The syntax for the chkbox goes something like this:
    Stringvar values:= "1|2|3|4";
    Stringvar displays:="some values";
    stringvar defaults:=(?user prompt)
    Wecheckbox("user prmpt",values,displays,defaults,rest of the parameters..........)
    In this if i hard code the value the checkbox works fine.
    My questioni is, how do I program this to show me the dynamic content in the report, I've been struggling a lot on this issue but unable to figure out. I want my syntax to be like:
    stringvar values:="|";
    stringvar displays:=({My database table name or formula})
    stringvar defaults:=(?user prompt)
    I have tried doing the above but I receive only one value or rather only the first entry of the database along with few array error messages,
    while declaring the stringvar for values and displays,how should I specify the database entries, I cannot hard code all the country names here and tht too which are dynamic, it could be country today, may be produt tomorrow and so on....Also how would the value variable would know the count of countries
    Please let me know a solution out of this. I have more confusions in regards to WE functions, I would post my rest of the questions on a different thread.
    I would appreciate your help on this.

    hello,
    as you've found out if you put the functions on the report header you get the first record...on the report footer you get the last record. webelements are the same as crystal formulae in that they take the records available to them at that time.
    first off, have a look at the webelementsDCP (dynamic cascading prompt) report...this is an example of a report using dynamic / database driven values for the functions.
    in order to get a list of values from your database, you need to roll them up into a long text string while the report is reading the records from the database. in crystal reports, this happens top to bottom on the report. in the subreports in the DCP report, values are rolled up and then passed to the main report via a shared variable.
    if you put a formula on your report details section that reads something like
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar s1:= s1 + + "|"
    you will see the values roll up.
    if you have a webelements report where you have the option of putting the controls at the report footer, then there's not as much work involved.
    if you need the controls at the top of the page then you can use the technique like in the DCP report. look at the "select..." formulae on the webelementsDCP report and you will see that they use the shared variables created in the subreports.
    cheers,
    jamie

    With a Duo-core Xeon, you should be fine with SD material.
    With the MOD files, this ARTICLE and its links, might prove useful. Be sure to follow all the links to other articles, and especially see the replies in those by Chris at JVC, as he knows those files intimately, and uses PrE to edit them.
    As for OS, Win7 would be the way to go. It seems to have proved to be better than Vista, in almost every instance. The question is then - 32-bit, or 64-bit. Things to think about: PrE is not yet a 64-bit program, so cannot fully take advantage of a 64-bit OS. Win7-64 still seems to have some driver issues, but the people writing the drivers are catching up, and there is hope that by SP1, those will no longer be an issue. Also, one needs more RAM installed, to take advantage of a 64-bit OS, and your MoBo probably cannot take any more RAM. Also, the speed and connection of the RAM can be important, and your BIOS (and MoBo sockets), probably cannot take advantage of this newer RAM. If you are not planning on upgrading the MoBo and your RAM, then you will probably be much happier with a tuned Win7-32-bit OS. However, some programs are being released for 64-bit ONLY, like PrPro CS5. They will not run on a 32-bit OS. With the 32-bit OS, you do lock yourself out of some programs. It becomes a tough call, and only you can make it.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
