Elements vs. Photoshop

Since upgrading to Lion my version of Photoshop no longer works. At present I'm using it on an older laptop but that's a pain. Here's the thing, I do 99.9% of my work in Illustrator. I mainly use Photoshop for:
Scanning and importing images
Sharpening and cleaning the images and sometimes adding special effects
Cropping and resizing
Saving as a GIF with transparent areas for use in Illustrator and web sites
So the question is... do I really need to spend $600+ to AGAIN buy Photoshop or would Elements (or other program) serve my purpose just as well?

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 & Photoshop Elements 11 Errors, Downloading Problems, Uninstalling probs

On May 8, 2013 I ordered Adobe Premiere Elements 11 & Photoshop Elements 11. To this day they do not work properly, did not download properly, nor can I get them uninstalled properly to reinstall properly. I have not been able to contact Adobe all these months, & now they tell me I have to pay $39.00 more just to speak to them. I refuse to give them anymore money than I have already gave them! Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue? I currently have Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 & Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0. I was upgrading.

Thank you so much for replying. But I sort of solved the problem, yet I didn't solve the problem. I am running Windows 7 on my computer. When I purchased Elements & Premiere 11, I purchased a 1 time download from Adobe. Upgrading from 7.0. When I went to download it, then install it, it told me that through an error message, that it was not downloaded or installed correctly, so I would have to uninstall the whole thing & start from scratch, basically. So, I went into the control panel to delete the program. Hit uninstall, & it told me after it was done, that everything was not uninstalled & had uninstalled incorrectly. Now it was missing from the Control Panel, & I could not find the remains anywhere, I thought I would try to redownload it again. So, going through the process, it would let me download it, but it would not install due to the remains of the previous installation. I tried everything. And when I tried to go straight to Adobe, it was a no go. I put it on the back burner for months & used my 7.0 occassionally. Today I decided I wanted it fixed. I went to Adobe...my licenses are still in my account. But no matter what I did, it would not accept my old licenses. With the help of a previous poster, maybe on a different thread, I was able to uninstall the old program remnants. But I could still not download 11. I just decided to cut my loses, & purchased 12. I bought the trials, downloaded them, they worked great, & I purchased them. So, all's well that ends well. Of course, I am $170-some dollars in the hole, but whatever it takes. Again thank you for your reply to my delima.

I can not find any way to send images to Photoshop for editing - all I can do is send them to elements editor or the premier editor. Can someone tell me how to send them to Photoshop? Thanks!

The D810 requires Camera Raw 8.6 or later - the latest version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 is Camera Raw 8.5 as far as I can see.
You need to either buy a new version of Photoshop Elements or use the free Adobe DNG converter.

It is not clear if your Premiere Elements 10 was a downloaded purchase from Adobe or from an authorized reseller.
However, do you have a purchased serial number for the product?
If you have the purchased serial number, you can download Premiere Elements 10 tryout files from the following web site
and insert your purchased serial number in them during installation to make them your own.

It is important to read and carry out carefully that web site's "Note: Very Important Instructions" in order to avoid an Access Denied message.
Just in case message....
But there could be a complication with regard to files from any source.
Adobe allows you to have the purchased activated serial number on no more than 2 of your computers.
If your failed computer has Premiere Elements trapped on it representing 1 purchased serial number, you will be able to installed
the purchased serial number on only one more computer. If you have the purchased activated serial number trapped on 2 failed
computers, then you will not be able to use that purchased serial number on another computer until you deactivate at least one
on one of the other two computers. In this case, it is only Adobe who might be able to help you. None of this may apply to you. I mention
it as a just in case caution.

Premiere elements 10/photoshop 9

hello,
i just completed a slide show in photoshop 9 and was able to burn a dvd in the premiere elements 9 trial - it had the "trial version" across the screen though - so i purchased premiere elements 10 and can't get photoshop 9 to recognize it. I tweaked the slide show a bit and went to send to premiere elements 10 to burn the dvd and it is telling me to download the free trial offer for premiere elements 9.... and when i try to go through the premiere elements 10 and "get media" it says my file isn't right. any advise would greatly be appreciated - this is the first time i have tried this and i finally - after hours - thought i had it finished -

can't export any albums or folders and it is doing something weird when i

Photoshop Elements or Photoshop Premiere - 9

Which one would be better to create slideshows with?
I've been told either one will do, even getting both would be better.
What I'm really looking for is the ability to select "Random Transitions".
Something similar to PowerPoint. I've tried the trial version of Microsoft Office & PowerPoint has a plethora of transitions to choose from.
I would like to have that option of choosing from many different transitions.
I would just like to get some feedback about Photoshop Elements and Photoshop Premiere.
Anything would be helpful.

For pan and zoom,
the Elements Organizer Slide Show Editor (avaiable when using only Photoshop Elements) is simpler for specifying pan and zoom: you can draw a box for the startng point and a second box for the ending point of the pan or the zoom.

Do you know what video formats are acceptable for posting a slide show video to Facebook ?
You can write a WMV video file output of your slide show from the Elements Organizer Slide Show Editor, but I don't know if that will work for Facebook.

Soon after starting the Organizer in either Premier Elements or Photoshop Essentials 8, it crashes, with a crash report to send to Adobe. I am using Wwindows 7. Microsoft says the program is incompatible. It worked fine until Adobe did an update to it. This happened some time ago, but I have just been putting up with not using the Organizer. I would like to have it fixed. Any suggestions?

Setting up Premiere Elements 13 & Photoshop Elements 13

I have this configuration :
- PC Sony Vaio VGN-AW11Z / B with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bits
- Intel Core ™ 2 Duo CPU T9400 2,53 Ghz
- 4 Go RAM
- NVidia GeForce 9600M GT
I bought Premiere Elements 13 & Photoshop Elements 13.
The downloading of the files is ok.
Now, when I click on the file Set-up.exe the set-up of the installation software starts.
After that I have a Welcome screen who asks me if I want to install or to test. I click on "Install - I have bougth the software"
After that I have a screen where I have to connect me with my ID Adobe in order to be able to install the software.
OK, I fill the fields with my ID and my password and I valid.
But, after that I stay on this screen and the set-up doesn't start.
Do you have a solution ?

They are two entirely different and separate applications, each one with its own separate and independent development and engineering teams.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve. It has a bunch of features that are absent in Elements.
Elements, on the other hand, is a simplified application lacking much of the power and refinements of Photoshop proper, but it has hand-holding features designed to appeal to amateurs and beginners.
If your needs are not complicated, Elements may just be the ticket for you.
Please realize that you are not addressing Adobe here in these user forums. We are users just like you. Personally, I have no connection to Adobe.

When Lightroom (Potoshop Elements and Photoshop CC) can open RAW-pictures taken by Canon G7X-camera?

That is a new camera and you'll just have to wait and see when support is added. There's never any announcement ahead of time.
In the meantime you can either shoot RAW+JPG and import those, or convert to TIF using DPP and import those to Lightroom.

Elements 12 photoshop

I just brought elements 12 photoshop and it won't let me sign in. everytime I try to sign in it just goes back to the sign in screen.

Element 10 Photoshop "Guided"

Ive just purchased the Element Suite (Photoshop & Premiere) but when I open the Photoshop I do not have anything in my "Guided" section. I wanted to do some editing on depth of field but there is nothing in the listing. I've downloaded disk 2 and 4 and re-started my computer and still do not have any listing.
Could someone advise me how I can get the list including depth of field.

Deze beide programma's kon ik op zowel mijn laptop (windows 8.1) en hoofdcomputer (windows 7) installeren.
Ik wil nu opnieuw versie 13 van de beide programma's aanschaffen.
Kan ik ook met versie 13 dit op beide computers doen?
I did buy, some years ago, a combination windows version of premiere elements 9 and Photoshop elements 9.
Both programs I could install both on my laptop computer (windows 8 or now 8.1) and my main computer (windows7).
I like to buy now again premiere elements 13 and photoshop elements 13 in one buy combination).
Is it possible to install both programs versie 13 again on both above mentioned computers?
