Elgato TV Tuner for G4 Powerbook 17"

I have a G4 Powerbook [1.67GHz/1GB RAM running 10.3.9]. Does anyone have first hand experience with the Elgato TV tuner for Mac? Can you get a near, full screen image or is it some mean little window floating on the screen? Thanks for whatever you can contribute.

I've had my ElGato TV tuner for several years. I really like it. It works like a charm on my pb G4. You get three choices of picture size, smalll, medium and full screen.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to connect the pb to the TV. Somehow, I just can't figure out how to connect the S-video and the audio. Or, is it all contained in the S-video? Can anyone explain and/or tell me what kind of cable and connections I need?

Best tv tuner for MacBook

I was looking into getting a tv tuner for my macbook. I have read alot of reviews about a couple products. I have seen both good and bad. Has anyone had success with a certain one? What one do you think is the best?

I use Elgato's Hybrid. Works great, allows you to record, edit and export to various formats. You can also capture the video from VHS/DVDs and burn to DVD with built-in Toast. A little bit bigger then a thumbdrive with a USB plug.

Elgato TV tuner - advice needed?

I know this isn't strictly about AppleTV but I couldn't find the right place to post a topic about Elgato...
Hope someone can help me out here.
Thinking about getting Elgato eyeTV for christmas and I can't work out what's the best solution for me. I want to be able to watch and record TV on my mac, possibly while my kids are watching kids TV on the main television.
I'm in the UK and I've got an iMac OS X.4 and have a set-top cable TV box from Virgin (formerly NTL). Can I connect a Elgato TV tuner to one of these? Is it straight forward?
Or do I need to?
is it easier and better to simply use the tuner?
will this give me digital channels?
if so, do I need a roof aerial as I haven't got one.
If someone can advise me on what to buy that would really help.

Not sure how you would, or even if you could connect to the cable top box you have, if you go the RF route you are most likely to need a roof top Ariel. The tuner does come with a small mobile Ariel but I haven't found them so good (not too bad if you are sat in a field with your laptop though)

Elgato's EyeTV 400, no longer produced, worked with iMac 800 Mhz. Just a note, your machine is a bare minimum for video conversion to compressed formats. You may get choppy video. I would seriously consider upgrading to at least an iMac G5 1.8 Ghz, if not an Intel Core2Duo iMac.

I would like to know how to insure that all track from a CD I rip into i-tunes all go into the same file regardless of the artist on the CD. I was recdently importing an All Time Low CD into i-Tunes for my daughter and because one track featured a guest a

i would like to be able to insure that when i import a CD into i-Tunes that all tracks from that CD go into a single file for that album in their proper order regardless of whether or not there is a featured artist on one or two tracks or whatever. i recentl;y imported an All Time Low CD into i-Tunes for my daughter and because one song featured a guest artist i-Tunes placed that song in a seperate folder and so when i synced my daughters i-Pod Touch that one track is not with the rest of the tracks form the album and has to be listened to seperately. The song is from the same album and should be where it belongs with the rest of that album so she can listen to the entire album with the tracks in the proper order. I am sure that this can be done i just don't know how.

Edit the Name of the problem song to Name [Feat. Guest]
Change the Artist of that song to All Time Low

What you want cannot be done. iTunes has its quirks, and the above is the kind of workaround needed to make the media display sensibly on any device. The article I pointed you to has others that you may find useful in future.

Uncheck all the songs in the playlist. iTunes will then play one song and stop.

I cannot get itunes to work/install on myPC. I am running windows 8 in a 64 bit machine. I also want to purchase books via itunes for my Nook. Are you deliberately excluding PC owners so we cannot use ituens on our computers???? I have selected a community but have no idea what community I should be working with. Can somone explai these communities to me? Also. you don't allow much time to go thru the sign up process. I had to start over SEVERAL times as you kept timing me out. Where can I find a restore disc for a PowerBook G4?

The detailed problem is that I had used the computer for a long time without turning off. I wanted to give it to someone else so I needed to clean the data off. Before deleting anything I switched off then on and the HD seemed to have developed a fault as the start up routine began then when the Hd started the computer crashed and restarted at the begining with the startup routine and I have not been able to go further than this. I changed the HD for an old one that I had replaced previously which had the same software system, Leopard. This worked perfectly but on switching off then on behaved as the other had.
I figured that if I could start with the restore disc I could clean the HD or at least investigate it. Hence the need for a restore disc.
Would this work or is there something in the logic board that is upsetting the HD and what ever I do will not cure the problem.
Any thoughts??

Can an iMAC computer be used as a display for the Powerbook laptop? Could I use the iMac keyboard plugged into the Powerbook and maybe the iMac mouse as well?

Where can I buy an airPort extreme caed for my powerbook? are they even available, if not how can I go wireless ?

eBay is a good source, though as ever, buy wisely and make sure you get the right card for your specific model.
Alternatively there are wireless cards available that go in the card slot. Again eBay is full of them but be sure they're OSX compatible - its a good idea to put this phrase in your search terms.

It just plugged straight in and was recognised as an Airport Card. This is from the UK site but I'm sure you can find the same thing wherever you live, or at that price just have it shipped.

New Draft-N Card for Legacy PowerBook (PPC based)

Any words yet or recommendation on a wireless card for legacy PowerBook (PPC-based) systems? I know the newer systems have the updated AirPort Extreme (using the Draft-N enabler), but what about others who have older PowerBooks with a user-installable card. Will Apple be creating a new wireless card for use in these systems? Or is there a 3rd Party compliant card to use in the PC Slot of the PB G4 that is Draft-N and works with the new AirPort Extreme base station N?

I doubt it.
When Airport was upgraded the last time (from 802.11b to 802.11g), the older hardware was stuck with integrated cards that could not be upgraded.
Is this Apple being mean? Not really.
The new n hardware needs two or three antennas to work. Older laptops with 802.11g have only one antenna built into the case - so you can't simply upgrade the card.
The only way to upgrade is if a third-party manufacturer produces a mac-compatible version. Which could happen. But it would be the sort of card that sticks out of the PC-Card slot.
It's not ideal, but remember that laptops get upgraded all the time, and you can't upgrade the processor or the screen either.

External Monitor for G4 Powerbook

I would like to get a larger (19-23") monitor for my PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz laptop. There is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 built in, so what Apple monitor is compatible? It sounds like the Cinema Displays all need some sort of specific Graphics card that I don't have (can I install one?).

I have a 9700 in my 1.5Ghz PowerBook and it works fine with a 23" and 30" Cinema Displays, I would think that your 9600 would work as well.
