  • Database version for Business Intelligence module

    Hi,
We are considering deploying the business intelligence module of Apps 11ir3.
My question is what versions of discoverer (4i, 9i), what versions of database (8.1.7, 9.0.1, 9.2.0), and what version of OWB (??, 9.02, 9.03, 9.04) can be used to implement this?
Our current DWH runs on DB 9.0.1.3, OWB 9.03, Discoverer 9i, we are thinking about migrating to DB 9.2.0, OWB 9.0.4 fro the extra functionality offered by both.
My concern is: can we then integrate Business Intelligence modules in that combo?
    Thanks for any input,

  • Key Criteria for Business Intelligence Product Vs Hyperion

    Hi !
Can some one share what are the basic criterias for evaluating which product would fit for a customer site - Oracle BI Vs Hyperion?
    Thanks

That's an extremely wide question. Check out these links...they give you a first insight.

Otherwise, check Oracles website for the detailled specs and capabilities:

And here's a link on the evolution of the two:

Generally the decision between the two boils down to the actual customer requirements. And it's not unusual to find both products in use for the same solution.

  • Business Intelligence implementation

    Hello everybody,
I am a new Problem Manager and I hava a very big challange in the upcoming months. I have to prepare/implement a solution for Business Intelligence in my curent company.(we have only SAP in our scoupe but we are also working with other customers and app).
How can I implement a B.I. structure, from my searches and knowlege I should implement Enterprise Reporting, Query, and Analysis.
The problem is that I don't have much experience in SAP and I would like to get some feedback from somebody how had started such a project to give us some ideas...
How can I start with the training, what should I look when I will implement this solution(is this the best way to start?) ?
The problem with the training is that many courses regarding BI are Classes and they start after several months and require several pre-requirements knowledge/courses.
(I would like to set up a connection to all important data and create some tables and graf with SLA, response time, sales, backlog, changes... etc. (something to build on)).
How can I proceed in my adventure?
    Thank you in advanced!

This is the biggest problem. Curently we don´t have any solution for Business Warehouse and something similar.. this is a new position in the company and I should get some ideeas in the team... how I see it and what should we do.
Probably I should start create someting to store the data for later analysis but I should find out what is the best path to follow in the short them - and from thereto develop a long term process...

  • Business Intelligence - Discoverer Viewer

    Hi,
If we have 1 license for Business Intelligence Standard Edition, and we have one user who will use Discoverer Plus and 20 users who will use Discoverer Viewer, do we need to get more licenses for the Viewer or we can have as many users as we want to use the viewer with 1 Business Intelligence license?

    Hi
Discoverer Viewer is licensed the same as Discoverer Plus. If you have 1 Plus user and 20 Viewer users you need to be licensed for 21 users.
You can either buy named users or you can buy an unlimited license. The cutover point is 25 users becauses the last time I looked I believe the per user price was $800 and the perpetual was $20,000 per CPU.
The minimum purchase for named users is 5 so are you absolutely certain that 1 license you have isn't a perpetual license or even perhaps a Discoverer Admin license?
You should discuss this with your Oracle sales rep who may well be able to get you a better price.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Discoverer 10g Business Intelligence Portal Update

    Hi,
We have a Oracle Application Server portal used for Business Intelligence that automatically updates every morning. Sometimes some of the sheets in the portal fail to update and are done manually later in the day. Usually the owner of the portal do this manual refresh. Is there any way we could delegate this task to other user who can do this?

    Anybody with the solution/suggestion?

  • Business Intelligence on iSeries suggestions

Sorry if this is already out here but I guess I'm not forming my queries very well today. Does anyone have any suggestions for Business Intelligence on the iSeries? Our SAP rep has suggested BOBJ Edge but I don't see any iSeries versions of that (Windows and Linux only). Has anyone used any of the BOBJ packages on the iSeries or something like Edge with connectors to the ERP system on the iSeries. I saw a few BW on iSeries threads. Is that the hot setup in iSeries world? What are the differences between BOBJ Edge and BW on iSeries?

    Hi Rick,
I would collect info on "what kinds of reports are most needed for the business" (particular WM orders, costing info, HCM data, etc) and "what frontend reporting formats are expected/accepted", then discuss the options with BOBJ/BW consultants. Note that BW and BOBJ are not mutually exclusive with each other - you could have ERP->BW->BOBJ, in which BW provides predefined data transfer structure from ERP to BW, datacubes, queries, etc and BOBJ provides nice frontend tool for better data presentation. Meanwhile as infocubes/data are not physically in BOBJ side, the database maintenance work is not as demanding as ERP or BW.
Sorry that I am not an expert on BW or BOBJ...
    Best regards,
    Victor

  • SQL Server Data Tools – Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 (SSDT BI) and SSIS on SQL Server 2012

    This great blog entry titled
SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 (SSDT BI), link below, highlights the lack of support for SSIS projects using SQL Server 2012, VS 2013 and SSDT BI for VS 2013. I see there is a new version
on SSDT BI for VS 2013 (12.0.2430.0, File Name: SSDTBI_x86_ENU.exe, Date Published: 10/27/2014) link below.
Does this version support SSIS projects using SQL Server 2012 using VS 2013 and SSDT BI for VS 2013?

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42313

    Hi cjrinpdx,
According to the picture, it seems that we can use SSIS 2012 support is not included in SSDT-BI for VS 2013. And based on the previous versions, SSIS always different from SSRS, SSAS.
SSDT-BI for Visual Studio 2012 supports versions of SQL Server as follows:
SSAS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSRS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSIS project can target only SQL 2012
The following blog is for your reference:

  • Oracle Business Intelligence Administration Tool for Windows

I am having issues installing Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Client on Windows 7 32 bit.
This is how we set up our server:
    - OBIEE 11g Server is installed and configured in RHEL 5 64bit.
(We have installed and configured Oracle Database, RCU and the OBIEE)
    - Our users are working on a Windows 7 32 bit and they are the one who will be accessing the BI Server.
I have come across a bunch of information regarding our setup. I am sure that our BI Server is working properly as a matter of fact, we can now use Oracle Warehouse Builder of the BI Server.
According to Metalink Doc Id: 417656.1, OBIEE Tools are only available in Windows platforms. I beleive this is the reason why we only configured OWB in our BI server (which is in RedHat) and we cannot find a way to configure OBIEE Admin Tools. But when I read the doc id, it applies to 10g versions of BI Server, what about 11g? Is there a way to configure and use OBIEE Admin tools from the BI Server in Linux?
Also, according to the official docs:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10539/c4_installing.htm#CEGEHEJF
4.6.1 Installing Oracle Business Intelligence Client Tools
"..If you installed Oracle Business Intelligence on a computer running a Linux, UNIX, or 64-bit Windows operating system, and you want to use Oracle Business Intelligence client tools, you must perform the following additional steps..."
So in my own understanding, this fits our current setup. Is this the correct solution so we can access OWB of the BI Server and use BI Admin tools from our 32 bit windows?
Also, I have read many bloggers and users having issues in Windows 7? Following the official docs i pasted here which has steps 1-3, is Windows 7 supported by Oracle Business Intelligence 11g?
Any help, confirmation (with credible basis) and further questions about this issue will be very much honored. Thanks a lot!

    Hi ,
Oracle BI for CC&B has few Standard(Demo) reports packaged with this software for example CI_CSEOPN (Case by Type and Age), If we need to know the logic of this report where do we find the information as the code for this report is not user friendly which is mainly stored as functions and not understandable, Please let me know if you have any information to get the logic of this report.
    Thanks

  • Unable to install Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012

I have tried and tried to get the templates to show up in Visual Studio. I have tried all the suggestions that could be found from others in 2013. I am down to the "Command Report.NoOp" message when I click on "Sql Server Data Tools for Visual
Studio 2012", under Sql Server 2012 menu.
Can anyone help me get rid of this error message? I can't tell how many times I have uninstalled and reinstalled or repaired 2012 software. I believe I finally have the correct SSDTSetup.exe file and SSDTBI_VS2012_x86.exe file. The versions are 11.0.3402.0
    and 11.1.31203.1.
I have spent 3 days trying to get this working so I can create some SSIS projects. Please someone help me.....
    thanks,
    SMA
    Shawn M Austin

    Hi Shavona,
According to your description, we need to verify if the error message is “Command "Report.NoOp" is not valid” when you install Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012.
If yes, it seems that the BI Templates are not installed properly. Please ensure that you have selected “Perform a new installation of SQL Server 2012” instead of “Add features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2012” when installing the
    update.

  • Looking for Career Change - Business Intelligence?

    Hi All,
I am currently working with an Melbourne based company as IT Support Officer for the last 5.5 Years. My job is to support, maintain and update current systems and network. I have following education
Master of Business in Informaton System (BMIS - Victoria University) - 2004
I am currently enrolled in Master of Business in ERP Systems course from VIctoria University (2012) as a part time student. I am studying following elective unit in first semester.
    Business Intelligence (using SAP Tools)
I only have to do 1 elective and 6 core units as I have recieved 5 credits from previous studies BMIS. I am also planning to prepare for BI certification. I chose BI after I read about it online and compare the reading with environment at my work. This experience inspired and facsinated me to learn BI and get most of it.
Can someone please suggest if I have taken right decision based on my interest?
    How should I move forward?
How can I involve myself with BI more and more?
Should I just learn SAP BI tools or also learn MS BI tools such as Sharepoint?
I shall be highly thankful to you
    Regards
    Angad

    Hi Singh,
Its really good decision being selective of BI. Now a days, if there is no BI there is no SAP. Business Intelligence knowledge is mandatory to any SAP consultant. Keep going.
    Best Regards
    Venkat
