Eliminate edge around subject in greenscreen?

Using the Keylight plug-in for FCP7, for greenscreen keying.
Subject is wearing a light-blue shirt and the keyed background graphic is mostly white.
It looks great -- until I add a drop shadow (so the subject will cast a subtle shadow on the white background).
Now, there's a slight "edge" around the subject's body that makes the overall image look fake-ish.  When I toggle drop shadow off (in the Motion tab in the viewer), the edge disappears.
Nothing I do in Keylight fixes this.  So -- what else to do?  Is there another filter I need to apply to make everything look better?

There are no Page Setup options for Print to File, just the real printers and "Any Printer". I've been modifying the settings for "Any Printer" in Page Setup.

  • Help! My phone is not taking the whole screen! (edge around the screen)

I ve only been using my phone for less than a week. Today my phone was frozen so I hold down the home and the power button to do a reset. However, the apple logo appears and it took forever to get in the home menu so I hold down the buttons to reset the phone once again. The phone did get in the home screen after the second reboot but after that the size of the screen got smaller (Not taking the full screen) I turned off my phone and while I was under the sun i noticed that there is an edge around the screen! It is so noticable even I turned off the phone. So I used a full restore on my phone and now the edge is still there! Can anyone please tell me if they have the same problem before and know how to fix it(Like resizing the screen)? Thanks!!

Is it a thick border? or just a couple rows? Mine has that, and a lot of electronics have the same thing... they cut the size they need and only use the pixels they want/need to use.
For example I had a Zune and a new Nano that had the same thing... My Blackberry, and work cell phone... same thing.
If its a thick border, then yes call apple and get it replaced/repaired.

  • Black edge around touchsmart 846t monitior

My touchsmart 846t has a "black edge" of 1 inch on the right and left side of the monitor. This happend while I was gone from my home for several days, when I rturned my internet was not working and my touchsmart screen was frozen.
I did not notice (IF) my screen was goofed-up when I first tried to get on the PC, but the pages were very slow in closing and I'm not sure they were all closed before I finially just rebooted the PC.
When I reboted, after all or most of the pages FINALLY closed...Then I noticed the "Black Edge" around the screen.
I've looked for hardware up-dates, checked the monitior settings, shut the PC down and ungpluged it from the power supply, but nothing has worked..!!

No it is not cut off...everything has been pushed into a smaller area..!!
The only thing that I have notice is that, the cursor will disappear when moved to the far right of the screen, but it stays 100% visible when moved to the far left of the screen.
When moved to the far right only a small edge of the cursor is visible.

    Hello kennethrothchil,
You’re having a problem with a black boarder around the screen.
When you left your computer on, it probably tried to do an update and corrupted.
Try to run a System Restore; this will take the computer back before the problem without affecting any of your files.
Here is a link for a System restore.

  • White jagged edge around masked image in InDesign CS2

I have an image with a black background which I have masked out that I'm placing into a document in InDesign CS2 that has a black background. There is a jagged white "halo" along he masking line that gets worse the farther out you zoom and disappears if you zoom in closely. What can I do to to make the halo go away when I'm zoomed out to a normal distance? I want to feather the edges of the placed photo, but when I do this, it includes the white halo in the feather and creates a grey cloud around the image.

How does it print? That's the important thing. If the preview's really bothering you set the image's display quality to High Resolution. My guess is that InDesing generated a low-resolution preview when the image was placed and in the downsampling, the edge of your mask was antialiased, producing gray pixels at the edge.
You might get acceptable results using a clipping path instead of a mask. That way the edges will not be antialiased because the edges of the image will be hidden by the clipping path.
Make sure the Black in your image matches the CMYK values in the black of the page.

  • Iphone 4s Halo/ White edge around screen

    Please help!!
I replaced the screen on my 4S.
When switched on it works perfectly except a white transparent "halo" around the outside of the screen.
Its like the brightness is too high for 10mm all the way around the edge is the best way of describing it.
Someone must know what the devil is wrong with it....??
    thanks in ainticipation

Your screen in not made to specifications. Something is too thick and the LCD Display is being pressed (smashed). The pressure on the display is giving the halo. Most likely the Front Glass is wrong, too thick. You need entire new Front Screen Assembly, unless you decide the Halo is OK.
Less likely but still possible, some object, ie screw, screwdriver, protection sheet was left in during the replacement process, and needs to be removed.

Draw the arrow on a canvas colored to match the background of
    the page
you will be using it on, then export with Index Transparency.

  • Black edge around canvas footage

A friend of mine has been editing together his showreel on my system. when i came home he asked me why the footage in the canvas viewer was surrounded by a black edge...and I had to tell him: i don't know...
my first inclination was to check all the settings, both for the clips and the sequences, and they were all correct and matching each other.
what i noticed then was that if i put "show image+wireframe" in the canvas, i saw that each piece of footage was completely square, not slightly rectangular as I thought they should be...
the files need constant rendering, sometimes it doesnt want to render as if the files have been corrupted or something, but the play properly.
I am not sure where the files are from or what codec, etc, as my friend didn't know. all he knew whas that they were off a digibeta tape he had gotten from a respectable post-prod place.
I also know that two of the 'films' where originally on dv and the third one on HD.
I cannot make sense of this, anyone elese can?
    -j-

EDIT My turn to be too slow... sorry Andy. END EDIT
Right click on one of his clips in the browser and go to Item Properties > Format.
Get out a note book and write down all the information you see (or do a screen grab or print screen – just make sure you have the information available to you.)
Now click in his time line and hit Command-Zero. Change the setting in the General tab to match the settings of the clips that you wrote down.
This might take a little trial and error especially if you aren't familiar with some of the terms, but you will get there.
When you do, render problems should disappear and the black edges should disappear.
    Let us know.

  • What has changed about the glass edge around FF4 in Win7?

I generally don't have my FF4 (RC1) window maximized so I see the glass trim around the FF window. However, I've noticed that Microsoft tweaks that glass trim by having a lighter shade on towards the top of the sides and a darker shade on the lower part of the sides. That doesn't appear to change on anything that has the glass trim....except as of right now on FF4, it does. The darker shade will move up or move down. I can't tell what triggers it but, the same behavior in other browers does NOT re-produce the problem.
I hope this is clear to understand, lol. Any input would be appreciated.

The aero trim moves when a status message or URL is shown on mouse over in the tooltip style box on the bottom left of the Firefox window. There is a bug report concerning this.

  • Blur background layer without creating "halo" around subject

I have a picture of a baseball player with grandstands and spectators in the background. To focus attention on the subject, I want to blur and slightly darken everything but the player (subject).
So I duplicated the background layer and created a mask over the player. Then I selected the background layer, added lens blur, and darkened it.
The problem is that this step blurs the image of the subject in the background, causing it to extend out beyond the masked image of the subject on the foreground layer, creating a ghostly "halo" effect.
I've tried creating an inverted mask on the background layer, but that doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Photoshop PS6, Windows 7

Chris, I may not be following you. Top layer is masked player (if I turn off all other layers, all I see is the player). Bottom layer is blurred layer. Player on top layer is in focus, and bottom layer is blurred, BUT ... the image of the player on the bottom layer is blurred along with the rest of the image on that bottom layer, and blurred edges of the player extend out beyond the mask on the top layer to create the "halo."
Inverse of that mask on top layer => player blurred and everything else sharp. What am I missing?
Maybe I'm using the terminology wrong ... if all other layers are turned off and the only thing remaining is the player, I referred to that as the "mask." Should I refer to the "mask" as being everything else on that layer OTHER than the player?

  • I have all my clips with an extra edge around the top and bottom I want to remove

As you can see from the image below, I have all my source videos recorded at 1024x820.  I want to, using Premiere clip this to 1024x768 removing some from both the top and bottom.  I'll have hundreds of clips of this shape (1024x820) I will import into premiere.  Is there some kind of transformation I can do that will clip the top and bottom so that my exports come out at 1024x768?  I don't want to shrink the full picture, I want to clip the top and bottom edges cleanly.

All I am doing is the following:
import my mov file that is 1024 x 820
    create a sequence that is 1024 x 768
    export the sequence
I made a video showing the steps (very boring, sorry).
I'm sure there is something simple I'm missing. i'm 99% sure my result is wrong from the looks of it in the movie player.

  • Eliminate margin around Xcontrol

    Hello, all!
I'm trying to create an Xcontrol using a combo box on the Facade.  I would like to adjust the Facade window size so that when I drop the Xcontrol onto a panel, there is no space between the edges of the combo box and the Facade window.  I've tried to adjust the control and window sizes manually, but it's been a frustrating process, to say the least.  No matter what I do, the Xcontrol window is always larger than the combo box.  Any suggestions?

  • Pixel around edge on Chroma key

I have trouble to remove green edge around me. I add spill suprresor green. but it show gray on edge. i have to use soften edge that cause gray on edge.
I don't understand why bad pixels around edge. That cause me struggle to remove gray edge.
    Why pixels?
I use DV on HDV camera but DV setting.
I use chroma keyer, color smoothing-4.1.1, spill supressor-green, FCP 7
I thought I have plenty light but apparently not. 5 lights. 2 dome on green, 2 key lights on me, one back light.
    Thanks

    yep  your far too close
you must have a good separation between the subject and the background
as a rough guide in setting up;    the subjects shadow  coming from the main light should not be able to fall on the background, if it is, move the subject further away.
The chroma keyer in FCP is very basic and needs a very good lighting set up to make it function
good level of illumination, even flat lighting on the back ground,  good 3 point lighting on the subject to separate from the background.

  • White (halo) around gif image on the web

How do I get rid of the thin white border around my transparent gifs?

A tutorial describing the technique can be fond here:
    http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials/transparent/transparent.htm
(Description of problem posted by Mathias Vejerslev)
A GIF only supports 1-bit transparency - either full transparency or full opaque. - Nothing inbetween. So, if your graphics has anti-aliased (fuzzy) edges, Photoshop has to make those semi-transparent pixels either fully transparent or fully opaque (by removing them, or adding an opaque color 'under' the fuzzy edges. This is the Matte.
Creating aliased graphics (no fuzzy edges) eliminates this problem, but you´ll have a harsh-looking graphic.
Ways around this, besides the matte color and aliased graphics, includes copying your HTML background graphic into your transparent file, and make a custom, aliased Matte (edge around your graphic), then place the transparent file pixel-precise on your webpage.

  • Photo Montage Has (white edge) On Some Frames

I use Memories on TV to make picture montages. Some times when I make a opening picture in Photoshop like a title or some thing. I get a white edge around two side of the first image of the slide show. I found a action one time that was to remove that. Does anyone here know where I can get this action or a different way to remove this white edge? Thanks

if it doesn't show in photoshop, then it's not part of the image, i would think, and would be a function of the app you're using for the slideshow.
I didn't find much in google but there seems to be a MOTV function called overlay which can provide borders? maybe its a setting in there...
