Eliminate green download indicator in taskbar

I found a couple of questions posted about this with a search, but there are no useful answers, so here goes again. How can I turn off the green download indicator in the taskbar. I find it unpleasant and intrusive, and I would like to turn it off. Does anyone know of a way to do so? I think rolling back to an older version of Firefox would work, but I keep getting popups telling me that those are unsafe. Am I stuck with this ugly and apparently unchangeable thing on my taskbar unless I switch to a different browser?
I am running Firefox 30.0 in Windows 7, but the taskbar thing has been appearing for a few versions now with no way to turn it off. I had heard that future releases would return control of appearance to the user, but that has not happened the best I can tell.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi SGNichols, if you find it on the "3-bar" menu, you can right-click and Move to Toolbar. However, this will place it at the right end of the toolbar and if you have a lot of buttons, it may end up on the overflow drop-down list (there is a >> button in that case). To drag the arrow to your preferred location, try using the Customize feature. If it can't be found anywhere, you can restore the default toolbar layout using the "Restore Defaults" button in the Customize panel.

  • I want to make the green download arrow to remain grey

i use sanitisminau and selectivecookiedelete to get rid of junk with 2 clicks(i remember, when i googled back then to see if i could actually merge these buttons together..at that time i was slightly disappointed, that i didnt find what i was looking for)
and now, while im happy with the new compact download arrow, in the long run its so annoying with its green color and the color doesnt go back to default after clearing download history via sanitisminau button, which means i need 2 additional clicks - 1 on the green arrow and 1 random click to close the download menu again
so in summary, here i have this browser, that is advertised as "open source" and yet people give me an impression, that some things are not changeable(another example of this was, when i asked people, how i could get rid of 1 newer part of firefox'
    history http://img7.uploadhouse.com/fileuploads/18080/18080177c08a6e2ddf65a917b76fb2746b2f38cc.jpg )
and now i have a 3rd person telling somebody the same thing here
    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2682857
"you can't disable only green arrow."
on the english wikipedia page it says "Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source"
also from wikipedia regarding "Free and open-source software": "That is, anyone is freely licensed to use, copy, study, and change the software in any way, and the source code is openly shared so that people are encouraged to voluntarily improve the design of the software."
well if this thing is open source and it is perfectly legal to modify it to any extent supported by runtime coding language hardware w.e, then WHY CANT WE CHANGE THE COLOR OF A FREAKIN ARROW?!?!?!
i mean this browser gets updates every 1-2 months or w.e, so there should be enough people out there able to deal with a UI issue that molests some users every day..or not??
why are things not as easy in this case as i expect them to be??

You can find the CSS code that is used in this file (look for Main indicator icon):
    *chrome://browser/skin/downloads/downloads.css
You can override the rules with code in userChrome.css
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

In "purchases" while in my App Store, Mountain Lion says, "an error has occurred" and the green 'download' button is grey and I cannot re-start the download. I was abroad when I purchased this app and during download, my internet connection was lost. At the time, Apple was still offering the e-chat, so I did that and the man was very helpful and it was a quick fix, so my download button turned green again, and I was able to begin the download. BUT during the download, I was kicked offline once again, and I decided to wait until I was back in the USA. I will go in to an Apple store and ask assistance, but if there is something I am missing, I'd like to try that first. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • Download indicator doesn't work when downloading from Itunes

Using my Mac OS mountain lion and Firefox ver 31.3 ESR when I download Itunes from https://www.apple.com/ca/confirm/itunes/thankyou.html It appears to go to Apples network 10.x.x.x but does not download and the download indicator shows no visible downloads proceeding.

I placed Firefox 31.3 for the Mac in Safe mode and the same thing occurred. Going to download Itunes from https://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/download/
it goes through the steps for file placement but does not show in the downloads of Firefox and does not appear to download.

  • I have lost the amber/green light indicator on AirPort Express.  How canI get it back?

How can i get the amber/green light indicator on the AirPort Express.  It has stopped working.

If I do a factory reset, will I have to reset the network configuration?
Yes, but based on what you are telling us, I doubt that the device will restart after you try this. You have tested with other AC wall jacks, correct?
I just purchased the unit in April this year, it would be very soon to have to replace it, especially since I don't think I kept the receipt...
Most stores keep a record of purchases. Otherwise, Apple support can look at the serial number and know approximately when the device was sold. You should have no problem getting a replacement, I would imagine.

  • When downloading or updating or installing any app on my iPhone 4S I can't see the download indicator I just see it when it's done , I just ant see the progress anymore .

My problem is , I no longer see my download indicator while installing or updating or downloading any app. , it happened after I installed the ios6 but after a while from installing it.

    Standard troubleshooting...
    - Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    - If still a problem restore with your backup.
    - If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
I think your next step is to restore with your backup.  FWIW, I've not seen or heard of this issue.

  • How do i eliminate in downloaded forms "FORMTEXT" so i can print them

How do I eliminate in downloaded forms "FORMTEXT" which is in areas that i would fill in manually by hand. When I print they have that in the space. Thanks

Did you try filling them in with your info ? Maybe FORMTEXT will be eliminated once you make a non-blank entry.

  • How can I turn off the green light indicator on my AirPort Express?

How can I turn off the green light indicator on my AirPort Express? It really annoys me.

    The Zed,
You have two options and you probably won't like any of them.
Using the Airport Utility, click on the AE then "Base Station", then "Options". That will bring up two options for you AE green light, either keep it green at all times or only light up when it is being used.
The second option is put some tape over it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Green download link not showing in Firefox download page , currently using IE 6

I am currently running IE 6 on Windows 2000.
    I want to install Firefox.

The "green download link " is not showing up on this page.
The message bar says " Done with errors"
    Help is much appreciated. Thanks.

    Thank you cor-el.

    but nothing shows.
Something is blocking the download. Prabably because this is an exe file. There is a Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition installated, but I cannot find where the restriction is defined.
I am not that familiar with whether there is a some Windows configuration effecting this restriction
Also I am using Verizon FIOS, I do not suppose this is a source of the problem.

I have Airport Extreme as the base unit and an Express unit in a room separated by a brick wall to improve signal. Express shows a green light indicating signal but my iPad does not perform well. How can I improve other than hardwire ethernet connection?

Other suggestions, and more info about the nature of the problem, may be in this Apple tech note.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1365
For example, you might find that the brick wall is not the only problem. There may be other devices pumping out enough wireless interference to be making things even worse.
I agree with Bob Timmons that Ethernet is best and most reliable. And that powerline (which I use) is easier and potentially faster than wireless...but only if your power lines do not have electrical devices plugged in which produce electrical noise on the line. Powerline will be slower than Gigabit Ethernet.
Ethernet cable is the only way to ensure that the signal goes directly there in a shielded way for a clear fast signal. Wireless and powerline are much slower because of all the other things the signal has to fight past to get to the other device.

  • Green level indicator no longer works in soundvol.exe

    Hi ,
I'm trying to screen capture a game for reporting, but the sound recorder says it has -127 db level set.
The windows soundvol.exe mixer no longer shows the green level indicator either.
The two things I have done recently is ...
    1. installed a Microsoft cordless 800 mouse and key board( I uninstalled the microsoft keyboard and mouse center but it made no difference).
    2. Upgraded the System drive to a SSD drive.
The sound volume seems to be working fine, but I can't capture the speakers output anymore and the level indicators are non existent in the sound mixer app.
Any ideas on what's going on would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Bernhard

    Hi Bernhard,
Run the troubleshooter to see if it could be resolved:
Open the Recording Audio troubleshooter by clicking the Start button, and then clicking
Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click
Troubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click
    Troubleshoot audio recording.
If it doesn't resolve, run SFC /Scannow command to fix the corrupted or missing system file:
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

  • Upload/Download Indicator

Yesterday a new indicator/icon appeared on the status bar area of my MacBook Pro (top right -- sorry, I'm relatively new to Macs so I may not have the right terms). It indicates the upload speed (in red) and the download speed (in green). I replaced an old Linksys wireless router with an Airport Extreme last Friday, so they may be related (which is why I am posting here). Does anyone know where it comes from? It does not appear to 'open' or be configurable in any way.

This indicator is not native to the AirPort software that runs on the Mac. Instead, it sounds like you had either inadvertently installed or launched a utility program. One that comes to mind that provide this type of menu bar indicator is iStat Menus.

  • Next Issue to Resolve: Wi-Fi indicator on Taskbar

Having got my display sorted, I now move on to an issue with the wi-fi indicator on the taskbar. It fluctuates quite frequently, moving between a maximum 5 bars, to 4, and then occasionally indicating to me that it has lost the connection. It then almost immediately, but not quite, picks up the connection again and resumes downloads or whatever. Tech Support tell me it's perhaps an issue with the wi-fi card, and asked my to swap my HD with that from my wife's T500(!), to see if the problem persists. Not sure that I like this idea, as the machine is only 10 days old, and I reckon Lenovo should do it under, not least for warranty reasons. Anyway, the connection was rock solid on my previous computer, a lowish end Samsung, and I'm just wondering if the indicator is very sensitive to fluctuations in wi-fi signal, hence the indicator bar fluctuations.
Any others' experiences would be very welcome, as I don't want to send the machine back unless I really have to.
    TIA

    Hi AlterEgo,
Completely uninstall Access Connections in case you are using it.
    Hope it helps.
