  • Forgot my administrator password to mac book pro retina

I I forgot to write down my chosen administrator password as I went trough the set up process on my new Mac book pro retina 15 inch.
I put the machine to sleep, and now I can not access my own machine.
I made a passwordhint, but having tried some 30-40 word combinations I still haven´t hit the right.
How can I access the machine to make a new password? Since the new Retina models don´t come with an external software CD, I feel pretty lost.

Use Recovery HD to reset password.

Changed my apple id and password but Mac Book Pro keeps trying to contact iCloud with old id.  Of course, the password no longer works because I just changed it.  Help?

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
    The issue your having is with the way Keynote  takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
    Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on  either display,  use application switcher:
press the the  command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command  > tab to return to Keynote.

  • For some reason the guest user on my mac book pro has a password and did not set a password on it how do I remove it?

For some reason there a password on the guest user on my mac book pro when I try to login in to for someone to use, I didn't set the password I try to remove it and try disable the guest user but didn't work so don't know what to do please help

Restart the computer (with Parental Controls off) and try again. If there's no change, see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • I have reset my user ID on app store and iCloud on Mac Book Pro.  How can I change the iCloud user ID on my iPad if I forgot the original password.  My original email address is no longer current.

I need help to delete my icloud account from my iPad.  It has "Find my iPad" on it and won't let me delete without the old password.  I don't want to reset password as it will require reset of Mac Book Pro and 2 iphones.  Help appreciated.

Your description of the problem is a bit confusing.  Do you have ONLY ONE Apple ID or do you have MORE THAN ONE?

I have a new mac book pro (sept 2014) and am suddenly stuck on the log-in screen. Keyboard input is not working to enter my password. Seems to be a log in issue as keyboard works for forced troubleshooting. (And b/c when I first noticed the problem, I was able to enter my log in password but then everything sort of froze. Now, no ability to enter the password.) Already tried a basic restart and a cmmnd/ cntrl/ pwr troubleshoot to no effect.

  • I am not able to enter the password and also can not able to open any application in my Mac Book Pro;to log in I have to force shutdown.

    Hi
My Mac book pro is behaving strangely. I am not able to enter the Password and can't open any application/folder. To log-in I have to give forced shutdown. When ever I try to open any application the screen turns grey (some times) and the window pop up " --------- quit unexpectedly".
I updated the OS too from the available updates but the problem persists. I have reasonable amont of data in it, which definitely I do not want to loose.
Kindly let me know how can I come out of the above scenario?

    Hi Susan,
In that case I will recommend that you consult a local technician/IT team and see if there is some network connectivity issue with your machine.

  • My daughter forgot her Mac book pro password. How can I reset it

My daughter forgot her Mac book pro password. How can I reset it?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.

  • Reformatted Mac Book Pro early 2008 and key chain does not ask to store passwords?

I recently reformatted my early 2008 mac book pro and every thing went great with the new installation but, I noticed that keychain is not asking me to store passwords or auto filling them either. Is there a setting that I am missing.

Run the Keychain First Aid repair utility.

  • Mac Book Pro Password - Husband had a stroke and can't remember

My husband had a stroke, and he can't remember the password on his Mac Book Pro. He'd really like to try to use his computer, and we want him to, as we hope it will help his recovery.

Very sorry to hear that. If you have 10.7 or above (or it's a newish Mac), reboot to the recovery partition - hold down cmd and R as you reboot. From the Utilities menu, choose Terminal, and type
    resetpassword
    and follow the prompts.
If you have 10.6 or earlier, you'll need the install DVD to accomplish the same. Insert  it, reboot and immediately hold down C as it's booting up. Choose the install disk when you're prompted to. Follow the instructions here:
