Elite XL 1208 work with Dual Core Intel?

I have a GCC Technologies Elite XL 1208 printer that I have used for years with my Mac. I recently got a new desktop 2x2 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon and I can't seem to set up my Elite XL 1208 to work with it. Does anyone know if this printer is compatible with the new Macs?

Hi a s7-
I do not believe that particular printer is supported in OSX, is it? Maybe i am wrong but I thought GCC stopped making printers years ago.
How does it connect? Does it print via AppleTalk? If so, make sure AppleTalk is turned on in your Network Preferences.

  • Fastest Video Card for Mac Pro with Dual-Core Intel Xeon

Can anyone offer advise on whether I can update the video card in my Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon computer? I'm pretty sure i can but I have no idea how to upgrade and what to look for in video cards. I do know that I want something fast, hopefully faster than the current ATI Radeon X1900 XT for use with Aperture 3.0. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • USB Memory Stick won't work on my Dual Core Intel Mac...

Just bought a 4gb memory stick a few days ago - it doesn't seem to like my Dual Core Intel Tower at all. I am plugging it into the USB slot at the front and trying to copy a load of files onto it.
It's got around 1gb on it now and I can't seem to copy another single file onto it. I was copying folders of files, but just trying to copy a single file the finder seems to hang and I can't cancel the copy process - I have to hold the power on button to regain control of my Mac - is this normal??
The stick works perfectly on a PC...
Disk Utility reports no problems, and reformats OK.

Be sure that the memory device is not NTFS formatted. You need to use FAT32 else MacOS Extended for it to work.

  • Will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?

    hi there guys,
will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
I'm not sure if my machine is 64 bit - it is the current model base mac mini.
Many thanks for any help you can offer !

SkiJumptoes is right. 4GB is not enough to comfortably run Logic X.
Your Mac Mini will need DDR3 SODIMM RAM. That website seems incredibly steep though. I guess that's the price of finding it for you. You're better off going to any below:

I Have bought The new MacBook Pro 13-inch:
    2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i7
    Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    750GB 5400-rpm hard drive1
    Intel HD Graphics
My Q: Can I upgrade my memory ram from 8GB to 16GB ?

Sure. Make sure that you buy the RAM specified for your computer - 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMMs - and purchase from a reputable dealer such as Crucial, OWC, etc.
You can go to the Crucial website and use the System Scanner app to get the correct RAM for your unit.

    IS THE SITUATION HOPELESS
I used Target mode to transfer files to a new i7  iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 from an older Dual core Intel machine (EMC 2105) also on 10.6.8. but originally Tiger 10.4. The operation was successful and I ejected the disk icon from the new machine and powered down the old machine. When this was restarted the next day there was a grey screen with flashing Mac symbol alternating with a 'no entry' sign and occasionally a question mark.Keyboard and mouse were unusable so k inserted the original instal disc (No.1 for 10.4. with installer 1.0.4) which came with the machine in 2006 in an attempt to boot from this. The ensuing window said this was not possible and now it cannot be ejected.I have tried everything ! It offers Disk Utility and other options like Terminal but that doesn't work either.I 'repaired disk' and that was pronounced o.k. None of the various keystrokes at start up will work, and the computer will only offer the installer disc continually. The only option would seem to be is to erase the hard drive completely from the disc in the machine.I don't want to do this as there is still material which I need to recover. I think the drive has in some way been corrupted by using it in target mode, and I don't know if there are any other options to try.
Please tell me how to get this disc to eject !

Have you seen this type of problem before? I think it could be a serious issue for anyone in a similar position.
No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
    •  I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive?

  • RAM Update to 8 or even 16GB on MacBook Pro 13-inch 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 mid 2012?

    Hey folks,
i heard and read rumours, that it is possible to update the ram of the MacBook Pro 13" (mid 2012/no retina) to a double 8GB RAM, making it 16GB.
    Which would be great, right?
Apple says on the support website that all the MacBooks 13" are only able to hold two 4GB making it 8.
Currently I only have the standard two times two 4GB.
So i was wondering, since I found this Crucial PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz 8GB SODIMM on the Internet if that's a fit for the rumours.
    It says on the site:
    "Guaranteed compatible with:
    MacBook Pro 13-inch 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 mid 2012
Now, has any one experience with this one?
Maybe this memory will plug both slots and that's why it says compatible?
you find the website here: http://www.macdimms.com/Crucial-PC3-12800-DDR3-1600MHz-8GB-SODIMM_p_123.html
    appreciate the help.

It won't plug both spots. To get 16 GB you will have to buy 2 sticks, one for each slot.
Apple only recommends and will suport 8 and recommends installing in pairs - so 2 slots of 4 GB each. You can always try the 2 slots of 8 and see if they will work. I would recommend ordering from crucial direct. They are one of the better memory companies around and have a website at crucial.com.
You shouldn't have any issues as the maximum non-Apple supported config is 16 GB.
    Good luck.

  • 2.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 vs 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7

I can't decide which Mac Mini should buy, Mini with 2.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 or the server version 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, of course I'll upgrade it with 8 GB memory and SSD drive.
So what are you guys thinking of 2.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 or 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7?
    cheers

my dilemma is if i go 2.7ghz i5 with 8gb of ram and the 750gb (7200rpd), after i buy the magic mouse and the keyboard, i'm already into $1367.00....
where as if i got a imac for $1399.00 i'm looking at a 2.5ghz i5 quad core with 8gb ram and a 500gb hard drive, with the amd graphic chip. plus i'm also getting a 21.5" led screen. where as with the mini i would have to hook it up to my existing monitor or even share it with my existing computer.
i love the look of the mini, but it is really hard for me to justify spending that much money having to buy all the "extra's", just have a working computer. when i can just pony up $32.00 more and get a whole sytem...
please help me to justify buying a mac mini.

  • System crashes when attempting to install 10.6.  Keeps asking to restart.  Computer is a Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor and 2 GB Memory.

I have tried to install 10.6 and when install is complete it says restart.  The computer restarts but keeps coming to a gray screen with a small black box that says to restart.  The processor is 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon with 2 GB of memory.  This should be more than adequate.  Any ideas?  Has anyone encountered this before?  I had to restore 10.5 from Time Machine.

Your sig line says iMac, but TMK no iMacs were ever made with 2x2.66 GHz processors. Is this a Mac Pro you are installing on? Are you using a retail Snow Leopaard DVD?

  • G5 Dual Core Intel DVD Drive Crashes Computer

Having some odd problems with my DVD drive in my G5 2x2.66 GHz Dual Core.
If I put a DVD in the tray the DVD player launches and the DVD window is completely screwed up. It perspective is screwy and the image is mangled as well. It also stall my OS so I get the spinning beach ball of death. To get a DVD to load I have to put it in the drive and then do a crash restart using the power button.
    What gives? Any ideas?

    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
Processor Name: Dual Core Intel Xeon
Guess I didn't realize there was a difference. I'll repost.

  • Running 10.6.8 on Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66GHz processors.  Can I upgrade to Lion 10.7

I've just upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intell Xeon, 2.66GHz.   Is it possilbe to upgrade to Lion 10.7 with my Mac Pro Dual Core or have I just hit my ceiling on 10.6.8 update ?

Mac Pros are not PowerMacs.    In 2006, Apple changed all its cheesegrater enclosure Macs to have the Xeon chip installed, and changed the name to Mac Pro at that that time from PowerMac G5.  That said, all Mac Pros can upgrade to a minimum of 10.7.5.   Only the earliest ones can't upgrade to 10.8 and above.   10.7 and later do not have Rosetta, the ability to run PowerPC (pre-2006) applications natively.  For other pitfalls, read this tip.

  • 2 Dual core intel xeon vs quad core. Whats the difference??

I came across someone who's selling his mac pro 1.1 (aprox 2-3 years old machine) which hosts 2 dual core intel xeon processors 2.66 Ghz (4 total cores) with an L2 cache of 4 MB per processor and 3 gb of RAM. He is asking for 1200.00
    I wonder:
    1. is there a significant difference between the machine described above and the new 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3500 series processor machines Apple offers?
    2. Is 1200 a good deal considering its a 2-3 year old machine? how much would it cost me brand new?
    3. I am planning to purchase the machine to use Logic Pro 8 (considering to upgrade to 9) which I currently run on my mac book intel core duo 1.8 GHZ. Which of the two machines will be optimal for it?
Thanks in advance for your time!

Using the scores on the GeekBench site, I show that a Mac Pro 1,1 2.66GHz gets a score of 4544.
    http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/218641
The Mac Pro 4,1 Quad Core 2.66GHz with all its Nehalem glory gets a score of 9256.

Benchmark tests versus real-world performance, along with your mileage, may vary. But that should give you an idea of what kind of what you're getting.
