EliteBook 2530p touchpad sending random commands - even when disabled

On my brand new 2530p running 64-bit windows 7 the touchpad is causing issues. If I touch it, then the cursor flies all over the screen and random commands are sent. For example, Visual Studio seems to be recognizing an F5 being sent it there as it tries to debug my current project.
On the laptop itself there's a little button that I can touch to disable the touchpad. That light goes orange and a little window appears temporarily saying the touchpad status is now off. Touching the pad at this point still does the exact same thing....so even shutting it off isn't making a difference.

Hi - Not sure if you have been told as yet, but the driver supplied by HP is currently incorrect. We have been rolling out Windows 7 onto these machines, and have discovered the same issue.
You will need to uninstall the existing synaptics driver from control panel > uninstall a Program, and then install the new driver on www.synaptics.com
This appears to fix not only the issue with the skittish touchpad, but also the issue with the touchpad not disabling when pressing the disable button on the touchbar.

When working mouse will randomly move even when I'm not moving it

When working on my computer my mouse will randomly move even when I'm not moving it. It is like I have a ghost mouse that is moving across the screen by itself. I checked and made sure screen sharing isn't on. It occurs randomly from what I can tell. It happened twice tonight where I'm on a window with my hand on the mouse and the cursor will move up to the top of the screen and then to the very left (which will turn on my screen saver). I will make me feel better if someone has seen this to. It happens very quickly and I can get control of my mouse. I have seen this off and on for a while. Anyone else?

I have the same issue.
It is a wired Mighty Mouse on a 24" iMac. My Macbook Pro with Wireless Mighty Mouse has never had an issue that I can recall, only the desktop.
It's pretty **** annoying to be fencing something in on Photoshop and suddenly your mouse is up in the corner of the screen and you've selected half your picture.
Anyone have any thoughts? What are the common denominators here?

Router still show ISDN up on "sh isdn ac" command even when ISDN down.

Hi experts,
I encounter a situation where my router still showing the isdn is up (in "sh isdn ac" command) even when the ISDN is down (I shut it down). Is it an IOS bug?
My router is Cisco 3640 with IOS Version 12.3(21). The IOS are currently upgrade from Version 12.2(6a).
The ISDN is a backup for leased line to MPLS. It will first call to MPLS nearest node LAC router, and if that failed, it will call to HQ as a last result.

This has to be a bug. Please check the bug navigator. Also, the show isdn status is showing the clear picture. The layer 3 status is showing as 0 active calls. That means it is not able to clear the isdn call history data.

11.0.0.4 Update still promting for update at clock even when disabled via GPO customization wizard

I have custiomized the Adobe Reader 11.0.0.4 msi to disable any updating feature available . This is the same as the previous versions which have worked faultlessly. This time when i have deployed 11.0.0.4 it does install on the windows machine but still prompts beside the clock with an icon and message saying would you like to install the update? if i click it it then fails as its already installed. i do not want any user to see this message especaily when that version is already running on the machine! Please see below for further informaiton, Appriciate any help resolving this issue.

Silent Install Adds IE Plugin even when disabled

I'm trying to do a silent install of the JRE 1.4.0 & even when I disable the IE plugin option, it still gets installed when running from the script. Here's my .iss file:

the "SdAskOptions" section with a component count of 0 should skip the IE plugin option, but it's not.
The interesting thing is that when I did the manual install to generate this script, the plugin was not installed...it behaves differently when I run the install from the generated script!
Does anyone know what's wrong here?

I had the same problems with the silent installation of JRE 1.4.0_01 on Windows XP. The only chance to correct the unwanted Plug-In activation in IE is to modify the registry.
With the following commands you can patch the registry after the silent install:
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java Plug-in\1.4.0_01" /v UseJava2IExplorer /f
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\JAVA_SUN" /f

But be aware of the fact, that any change in the registry is a kind of operation on the open heart.

Button label - want to look enabled even when disabled

I have a button that I want to be clickable sometimes, and not at other times.
When it's NOT clickable, I want othe button skin to disappear, leaving only
the label. I'm not using an icon.
To make it not-clickable, I set the "enabled" property to false in code,
and using the "disabledSkin" style to specify a transparent image.This
works fine. But the button's label is grey, not black (as you'd expect).
I want it to be black even when "enabled" is false.
Is there a style that pertains to this that I can control?

never mind, I found that using the "disabledColor" style on my button

Embedded Image triggers action even when disabled - Agentry

Hi;
I am working on SAP Work Manager 6.0 customising, using Agentry 6.1.3. I have created these embedded images for triggering actions that act on the current selected object on the current screen. The embedded images have rules to display the enabled image when particular conditions are met and rules to display the disabled image when not met. To my suprise, the buttons still seem to trigger the underlying action even when the button is showing the disabled image. Is this standard Agentry behaviour or there is a particular way I have to implement the underlying action to avoid this?

Tm2 touchpad is completely unusuable even when working perfectly due to drivers

It seems there is a flaw in the touchpad drivers. If you use two hands on the touch pad, one to move the mouse and another to click the buttons, it becomes unusable.
This touchpad has physical click buttons that double as part of the touch area. If you leave one finger physically resting on a button, it messes with another finger trying to move the mouse. Worse yet, even if you change the way you use it so you use one finger to move the mouse and touch the buttons only when lifting this finger, it becomes impossible to highlight text.
Since in order to highlight text, you have to keep the physical button pushed in while trying to move the mouse. The pad basically sees this as a tap or something and breaks the dragging so the highlight area stops growing as you move the mouse.
It would seem the drivers need to have a setting to either virtually shrink the area of the pad that is used for mouse movements so any area outside of this area is not used. Or needs to be self aware of physical buttons and have a toggle to not activate the touch area above the buttons.
I have tried to see if I could maybe set a scroll area or any other area over the area of the buttons to help alleiviate this problem, but none of these attempted tricks have worked. Using one finger to move and another to touch the physical buttons just breaks everything and makes the pad unusuable.

What makes it worse is that the user made linux touchpad drivers for synaptic touchpads does let you define the phyiscal touch area. So in linux you could easily shrink the area so the touch area does not include the buttons.
There is no technical reason why the windows driver cannot support this. Just add a tab to the menu for touch area and let people define it with a box just like the current driver allows you to set touch zones. Then the feature is universal and it would work for any future variation of physical buttons and touchpad area.
I personally am in awe of how they could make a touch pad where the physical buttons double as touch area and not notice that you need a way to exclude the buttons from the touch area if you actually want to use them. Why did they make physical buttons that you cannot use? Do they not test this stuff?

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup
- Restore the iPod to factoery defaults.
If still problem you likely have a hardwareware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Iphone 5c dies at random times even when completely charged.

I bought my iPhone 5c in September. Last week my iphone randomly died once i returned inside frim making a call on the phone even though it had well over 30%. I immediatly thought the cold weather got to my phone and caused it to shut down. I wrapped it in a blanket and put it on the charger to warm faster. My phone stayed off for 30 more minutes. Today it shut off once again. But while i was holding my home and lock button the apple logo appeared as normal. But the screen began to glitch and look static like. The screen then went black and didnt turn back on. Once again i held the lock button and home button. My lockscreen appeared. As i slide the screen to unlock my phone the entire screen went blue and shut back off.
I didnt drop my phone or get it wet, this just randomly started. I even reset my phone settings as recommended by other which did not help.
Whats wrong with my phone?

This feature only works with people who have iMessage on their iPhone. If you are sending a text to someone with a blackberry etc, you will not get the delivery messages.

That can't be it if it is working intermitently.
Actually, more often than not, this is caused by duplicate entries in either Mail's Outgoing SMTP servers, or in Keychain.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it/them, or delete it/them and start over.

If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )

2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the Steps in this article to force the device into Recovery Mode.

Crashing on start up, auto-updating even when disabled & not allowing a safe toolbar add-on to download

I have followed all of the steps in all of the relevant help articles (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash), and nothing has fixed this problem.
I was running v17, and yesterday it auto-updated to v18 when I opened firefox. As soon as it updated it crashed, pressing 'restart firefox' did nothing, I could only quit. So I found an old install file, went back to v17, checked the option to ask permission before updating, run malwarebytes and spybot, so my PC is clean. This morning, same thing happened - auto update with no warning or permission given. Crashed. Repeatedly, restarted, closed everything else that was running, uninstalled and reinstalled the older stable version. Both times I spent a long time reinstalling add ons and themes. On top of that my goodapp toolbar from goodsearch will no longer be installed by firefox because 'it can't modify the necessary files'. All other add ons work fine, and I was using this toolbar with no issues in v17 only yesterday.
The second reinstall I clicked the option 'never check for updates'. But tonight, when I opened firefox, it updated without warning to v18 again and I was ready to switch to chrome after a decade of using this browser. There was no Firefox (safe mode) to run from my program files, and since I couldn't open the browser at all before it crashed, all I could do was uninstall and reinstall v17 for the third time in 24 hours and as you can imagine I am not very happy that your so-called stable release is anything but that. I think with the number of people having problems that you should stop work on v20 and actually accept there is a problem with this release instead of trying to blame it on malware.

This crash is usually caused by to malware and the involved randomly named file in your case is astktkra.dll as you can see in the modules list of the crash report.
Try to use MSConfig and disable that file to prevent it from getting started.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that allows to locate and remove the file either manually or with a malware scanner.
You will have to search the Windows registry (Ctrl+F) for references to that file and export and remove involved keys to avoid startup issues with missing files or alternatively use a registry cleaner like CCleaner.
If you are not comfortable with editing the registry then it is best to skip this step.

Blocking popup windows even when disabling the popup blocker

For quite some time now, Firefox has been blocking essential popup windows on my computer. It's not just those annoying ones, even those when I am trying to write an email and similar things. I have disabled the popup blocker and it does not change anything at all. It does not alert me that it has blocked anything either, it is simply as if I never clicked anything in the first place. I have tried adding exceptions to my popup blocker, and this does not work either. This is really frustrating and is interfering with my daily use of firefox, and forces me to use crappy explorer which does not block things. What can I do?
