EliteBook 820 - Synaptics smbus touchpad buttons not working. Compatibility issue with Windows 7?

Just bought a new HP EliteBook 820 G1, and because we have standardized on Windows 7 that's what we had installed at the factory, although I believe it was probably engineering for Windows 8, which I believe to be the source of my issue.  The Synaptics smbus touchpad mouse works, but the buttons do not work.  I have tried updating the drivers from Windows Updates, Synaptics, and HP websites, only to go have it not work, or tells me that I have the latest driver.  Is this a compatibility issue with the device and Windows 7, in which I am going to be required to upgrade the device to Windows 8 before I deploy it to the end-user?

Hello @PinkPaper
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP EliteBook 820 G1 is a commercial product. You can do this here Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE
The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime: HP EliteBook 820 G1 Notebook Support.
I hope this helps!

  • Touchpad Buttons Not Working

I purchased this Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5102 last week, I installed Windows 10 last night.  After installing Windows 10 the touchpad did not work.  I have since fixed that issue.  However, now the buttons for the touchpad are not working and I'm unable to find a solution to this issue. I am able to use a wireless mouse for functionality, so that helps, however, this is a very hindersome problem...  Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Hi I´m not sure if this gives any guide but this what I have done to "Win 10 + touchpad problems". I have a Satellite P30 W-B which is brand new. I installed Win 10 yeasterday and my Touchpad didnt work any good after that, I only had the cursor function and a click function working, no right click or so. I checkad all possible solutions here and there and what I finally did was to uninstall the ELAN tocuhpad driver and a ree-start. I thought the touchpad would be dead after that but it works fine! Now its a MS softwere instead automaticly, quite old. Now it works like before. THe ELAN driver came with he Win 10 package. I might have lost some functions incoperated in the ELAN driver like scroll or so but I wont install any new driver unless its working properly with Win 10 so I can wait for that. I hope this can be something for the moment.

  • HP1044NR Touchpad Button not working

I have updated my driver to the lastest driver (1.00C), and the button does not work to de-activate the Touchpad.  Please help.

You would have to replace the whole touchpad as there is a ribbon cable connected.  I feel you on the beer too, dropped a Miller Lite in my Macbook once, opps!

  • Show hiide Buttons not working in andorid OS and windows mobile OS

    Hi,
I made a file in Indesign CS6. This file has a map with dots on it. When a user clicks a dot, an info box pops up giving info about that dot. He clicks the box to make it dissappear and can click another dot for the next info.  I achieved this using the hide and show feature of buttons and exported using interactive Pdf. The file works fine on a windows Pc but it does not work on andorid or windows mobile platform. How can I make it work for both?

I assume that you're talking about Show-Hide Fields in an interactive PDF. It's not likely that it will work given the limitations of most PDF readers on mobile devices.
I'm a user of an iPad and iPhone, and haven't worked with Android or Windows devices but I think the issues are the same on all platforms. Some PDF readers are better than others. You didn't say what PDF reader you were testing on.
Here are two articles I've written about the frustrations of getting interactivity to work on mobile devices, in this case, an iPad:
    http://indesignsecrets.com/for-interactive-pdf-not-all-readers-are-equal.php
    http://indesignsecrets.com/navigation-button-tricks-for-interactive-pdf-on-an-ipad.php
The best PDF reader for iOS devices is PDF Expert, but I don't believe that exists for Android or Windows devices. I can view interactivity that Adobe Reader doesn't support.

  • Open menu button not working from FF 31 on windows 8.1 x64

    hi,
FF doesn't seem to be compatible with windows 8.(1) x64, from 31 on.
i installed v31, 32, 33 and 34 and none of those had a working "open menu".
i search allover the net, and did not find a solution.
i deleted all that i could 10 times to no avail.
i am using version 30 and the button works
i am very sorry not being able to use the latest FF version, i think its the best project and the only privacy respecting option in the browser world.
    thanks

    It's a bug fixed in FF33+.

  • MOVED: Microphone not working on P6N Diamond with Windows Vista 32bits Premium

This topic has been moved to Vista problems.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=114047.0

"What a hassle" doesn't do creative's utter uselessness enough justice.
I don't know what to say except you seem to have done all the right things to try and get your mic working. I've just been through hell and back trying to fix mine. Not just my mic either, if I was in-game or just in Team Speak...video files or music files would not play. Other than that If I was in Team Speak and I loaded up Crysis I would get no sound, and get this... If I loaded up Crysis first and alt-tabbed out to join Team Speak It would say I had no playback or recording device. GOD!
Also apparently there are addressing issues with 64bit systems that have 4GB RAM or more, have to read into it a bit more, sure there are threads in these forums about it.
However for whatever reason, after much stuffing around. I have installed the Vista drivers off the CD (although im running w7 64bit) that came with my card and I'm no longer getting the above issues except now my sound is rediculously soft and so is the bass.
    This is what I tried.
. Installed latest drivers from the driver support area.
    2. Installed Dan K's support pack
    3. Tried booting with 2GB of RAM
    4. And lastly which I mentioned worked for some reason...installed vista drivers that came with my card.
Perhaps its worthwhile to install whatever drivers you tried again, but try booting into safemode first and use driver sweeper once you've uninstalled the software/drivers you have at the moment.

  • G505s Touchpad buttons not working properly while gaming?

This is the second time i am posting this due to no replies:
I recently bought a Lenovo G505s about a month ago. Everything is fine with it until i downloaded Steam and downloaded some games. 3 of the games i downloaded are shooters and therefore require the left mouse button. But when i click it to shoot, it doesn't respond sometimes and is very laggy. This is not the fault of the game as i tried it in different ones but the problem is still there. i tried to switch round the buttons (so that the right button is to shoot and the left to aim) and it works fine. I would prefer to have it the usual way around so does anyone have a way to fix this? did this happen to you?
If it is needed here are some specs for the pc:
    AMD A8
    6gb ram
    WIndows 8.1
also the buttons and trackpad work completely fine with everything else except games including Minecraft. it seems that when i am moving with WASD the button doesn't work but the right click button does.
Can someone please give me a reply?

    hi AdreesInator,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
There is a feature on Touchpad software and driver to lessen the touchpad Sensitivity when using the keyboard to prevent touchpad movement when typing,
I believe this is the cause.
First try to open Control Panel and look for Hardware and sound then Mouse
Then you will find a TAB at the top right for your touchpad.
Click that and select Settings or properties, This is how it looks.
Click the settings and once inside look for Palm check Option, This is the feature that changes the sensitivity and response accuracy of the touchpad
If you can't find this Palm check inside the touchpad settings, you might need to uninstall the touchpad driver and just use the WIndows Generic driver as the Driver does not support changing it.
    If this is the case
Open Control Panel and look under Mice and other pointing device and uninstall your Synaptics or ELAN then go Open COntrol Panel / Add remove Programs / Uninstall a program and uninstall Synaptics or Egis tech ELAN.
Then try your Games with the touchpad and it should work fine
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!

  • Touchpad gestures not working properly on Z510 with W8.1

I think that the problem is that if I go to settings/ mouse and touchpad, it does not recognise that I have a precision touchpad so I can't change anything. The major thing that is missing is edge swipe and of course pinch etc.
It used to work ok but suddenly did not.
    Any suggestions?

    Ian_Hibberd wrote:
Thanks for the suggestion and that is exactly what I should have done when I discovered it. Unfortunately, I let it slide (3 months) which is too many updates ago.
You can actually go back to whatever date through restore unless you have done some cleaning up. Another approach is to go to safemode and uninstall the touchpad driver. Then reinstall it.
If the above don't work you can check/repair the system for file corruption by running (without quotation mark) the following: "sfc /scannow & dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth".
If still it can't be solve do a backup of all your personal files. Shutdown the unit. Press the NOVO button and select System Recovery from the menu. Select Restore to Factory condition.

  • [T440p] TrackPoint buttons not working

    Hi,
I have a weird problem with my T440p's TrackPoint (running Windows 7 Pro, x86) using out-of-the-box settings. Basically, it seems that its buttons do not work at all - the designated upper regions of the TouchPad (which should supposedly function as TrackPoint dedicated buttons) produce no effect upon clicking. Also, if I disable the TouchPad in the Mouse control panel module (ThinkPad tab), I can no longer click anything and have to resort to keyboard navigation to restore mouse functionality.
What is interesting is that this is the second T440p unit I have tried to use the TrackPoint on and failed. The first one was also running Windows 7, but had a different screen (HD+, while the current one is Full HD) and CPU (2-core i5 vs. current 4-core i7).
How do I use the TrackPoint buttons, again? Cause it's obvious by now that it does not work the same way as on my trusty X220 machine...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    FOLLOW UP;
when ultranav driver is installed then i do not seem to have issues with the trackpoint movements, until I start clicking buttons. For example this is a standard event. I am in window , like in  a multipage word document, and i want to scroll down using the slider on the left frame of the window. If I do it by keeping the button pressed and moving the trackpoint - all works fine; but if I want to do it by simply multiple clicks at the bottom part of that slider part of windoe frame (left frame) then after 3 clicks (always ) the track point and buttns freeze forever, or sometimg can be unfreezed by external mouse movements, or by quikcly moving my hand over the touchpad...
As if quick succession of button clicks created the problem
When no ultranav driver is installed (and touch pad disabled in BIOS) then occasionally the button do not work and in general harder clicks are needed, and occasionally succesion of clicks also freezes the track point and buttons...some time can be "woken up" by external mouse movements and sometimes not.
thanks for any help or pointing to a place on www where I can find solution..
by the way anybody heard of physically putting the old trakcpoint system (like e.g. in T60) to t440. ???

  • Re: Satellite L500D - Touchpad "touch" not working

    Hi everyone,
my touchpad's touch function (to emulate left-clik by tapping the touchpad) is not working any more. I can move the mouse with the pad.
Also the left button below the pad is not working - the right one is.
    I've already tried :
    -Updating the driver
    -Fn+F9
-The touchpad settings - the "touch" function is enabled
-The Toshiba hardware test - passed
    but with no success.
Not sure whether it's a software issue or a hardware one.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank,
    Andres

    Hi
As far as I know the option is called Tap to Click
You should check if this enabled in the touchpad settings.
    >Also the left button below the pad is not working - the right one is.
Maybe this has something to do with the fact that the left click by taping is not working
Its hard to say what could cause this
As I said; the options should be checked once again in control panel -> mouse -> device settings -> settings (or properties)
If all the settings would be ok, then a touchpad hardware issue might be possible

  • HP G62 touchpad scroll not working after Windows 10 update

Hello, As many, I am having a problem with my touchpad scroll. It stopped working after upgrade to Windows 10.  I have an HP G62 Laptop and the touchpad listed is Synaptics PS-2 port.  Can you please provide information on how to fix? Best,

Hi there ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I have read your post on the HP Support Forums. I understand that your TouchPad is not working correctly since you upgraded to Windows 10.  I did some research and came up with a couple different documents that may help you with the TouchPad.
     1. HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)). 2. Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8): You can customize and adjust how you scroll using one finger or two fingers and how the TouchPad or ClickPad responds to gestures near the edge. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. The Windows 10 drivers will become available on the HP Drivers and Downloads Page for your product as they become available to HP. There are some drivers available there currently.  Have a great day!

    that's odd..
does the touchpad works on login screen?
(mine did it there, but no in the desktop)
is it enabled in Bios option?
did you try erasing and re-installing xf86-input-synaptics?
pacman -Rsn xf86-input-synaptics, and then pacman -S xf86-input-synaptics
just giving you ideas.. 'cause i don't know what can be the cause
ps: did you read this wiki? http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics
