Elitebook 8470p bios administrator password

Question

I just bought a hp 8470p Elitebook laptop from a HP reseller. Now I found out that the bios password was set. When I tried to contact the seller, he said this laptop was part of HP demo program return. The bios password was set up by the user, but not given when it was return to HP. He said I would have to contact HP if I want the password. I though I would  ask if you can help first.

This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as HP Probooks, HP ZBooks, HP Elitebooks or HP Compaq have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.
