Elitebook 8570p recovery

I purchased my Elitebook 8570p new, from an online retailer, through Best Buy's internet store.  I got a set of disks with the computer that included Windows 7 in 32 bit and 64 bit versions, Windows 8, and the driver and applications disks for each version.
I changed a setting I shouldn't have, rebooted and blue screened. Ended up doing a fresh install that resulted in a bunch of problems (that I have sorted out now).  Imagine my surprise when I found out that all those great disks I received with my machine weren't proper system restore disks.  The process took forever to get through, because I had to search for specific apps to get my fingerprint reader to work and newer drivers...  I was pretty angry.
Anyway...
1.) Why was there no proper HP Restore disk provided with this machine?  I mean, it's great I have all those versions of Windows, but my system was completely hosed for a day and a half while I sorted things out.
2.) Will HP PLEASE send me the correct disk(s) so I can restore this machine to the factory default?
I don't ever want to go through that insane process with failed Windows updates and maddening install/uninstall process to get this thing running again.
Thank you for your help.
Craig

Hi:
There isn't any way that I know of.  Once the clean W7 installation was made, overwriting the HP factory install, the recovery manager no longer works and the recovery partition is pretty much a useless waste of disk space.
You will need to order a set of recovery disks by calling HP technical support for the country you live an at the link below.  Call the number listed for business PC's and notebooks.

  • EliteBook 8570p (B6Q03EA) - no recovery manager

    Hi
about month ago i bought a new EliteBook 8570p (B6Q03EA) with windows 7 pro 64. During first turn on hp was automaticlly installing drivers and restart computer after each one. That was many many times.. to many... so guy from company where I bought that notebook install windows from CD (to speed up installation). After that there were no drivers, and I downloaded it from HP website.
Now in "start" there is no recovery manager and no F11 option after turn on computer (on hard drive is an untouched partition D: HP_RECOVERY). Is there any posibility to back my computer to first use, when I purchased it? Is it possible without recovery discs?

  • EliteBook 8570p Fingerprint Sensor Issue and Windows 8 and 8.1 Built-In Biometric Framework

    Hello there,
i'm currently testing the Preview Build of Windows 8.1 on my HP EliteBook 8570p and have a small Problem using the Fingerprint... but back to start...
In Windows 8 there wheren't any microsoft builtin biometric framework, to get the fingerprint there you have to install the hp security protect manager, and the validity Fingerprint Driver from here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=de&cc=de&prodTypeId=32...
the actual version that the site above state is this: 4.4.228.0 (31 Okt 2012)
the filename of the fingerprint driver should be this: sp59624.exe
exactly this is what i download, but then upon extracting and "older?" SP-Number appears?  -> SP58152 ????
Driver should have Win8 support, but on installing it it just says it supports Win7 max... another hint that the driver packet is wrong packed...
this is the first thing what is very strange, even, the driver won't install automatically... just manuall, this is also a non WBF (Windows Biometric Framework) driver, so ne built-in fingerprint support of win 8.1 does not work.. indeed with the hp security manager... but when using the fingerprint login there i see just ugly Windows Vista branded Loginmasks... not a real choice..
after a bit of google seach i then found a new version of the validty fingerprint driver, but this is not listet in the 8570p Model download page... just found it with the help of google..
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=de&lc=de&dlc=de&softwareitem=ob-109892-1
this one have a newer version:  4.4.234.0 (2012-09-07)
interessting thing about this... newer version, but older release date... ?!
and it is a WBF driver, voila, i thought...
installing the driver via the device manager (VFS451) and Windows 8.1 is able to scan fingers for login or credentials requests... works quite well... until first reboot... sadly after the first reboot, windows just continously means that a finger is getting swyped acrous the fingerprint reader, but it isn't...
after deinstalling the device, and reinstalling it (and driver) the fingerprint reader works again still the next reboot...
any help is appreciated and HP PLEASE do something about all the issues with the fingerprint readers even in Windows 8 (and/or correct the download)

  • HP Elitebook 8570p - No recovery option windows 7

Because I did a fresh install for windows 7, I used a operating disc, meaning I had to download the drivers on here. The problem is, where do I download the option to let me use recovery? Its like a black window prompt the gives me the options. I have home edition. Wheres the link to download.

Recovery disks are not a downloadable product.
With the original operating system installed, there was an option to create a usb recovery flashdrive or a recovery disk set. When the notebook was first turned on after removal from the box, the setup script asked the original owner if he or she was ready to create recovery media. It appears that you may have inadvertently forgotten that.
If you removed the original partitions  that were on the hard disk you will have to purchase a usb recovery flashdrive or recovery disk set from HP or an HP Partner.

  • Elitebook 8440p - recovery disc creation & booting from an external drive

I have a brand new Elitebook 8440p & I have a couple of issues that I cannot seem to resolve.
    1.  I expected to get some sort of system install, or recovery or repair discs - or the ability to create such disks with this laptop.  Nothing came with it, and I cannot find any place to create some sort of system recovery disks, nor is there anything listed for this laptop on the HP site to acquire them from HP.  I am not comfortable having no way to recover this computer should a hard disk go south.  Any ideas how to create or get an op system disk or recovery discs or something?
    2.  I have an encrypted company/business hard disc inside the laptop for work.  I also have the original hard disk that came with the computer in an external eSata/USB case.  I have configured and installed software on the external drive to include my personal software and programs, leaving the company hard disc inside the laptop for business use only.  However, I cannot make this laptop boot from the external drive if the company drive is inside the laptop.  I have read and tried everything, but if a drive is inside the laptop, it will not boot from the external eSata/USB drive.  If I simply remove the laptop hard drive, it boots perfectly from the external drive via eSata and works fine.  How do I manage to get this laptop to boot from my external drive without having to remove the internal hard drive?
Any help or ideas someone can offer are greatly appreciated.  Thanks very much.

    Hi, Rich:
If you live in the USA or Canada, you can get a set of restore disks from HP for $10. I am surprised you didn't get a set but maybe they only come with the business desktops.
Here is how you order them:
    1.  Write down the part number and serial # on bottom of the computer on the white tag.  The model # is an HP-Compaq 8440p, but the part number will be found on that white tag below the serial #.
    2. Call HP at 1-800-952-7689, option 1 (ordering restore disks is part of the list in the option).
    3. Provide the info asked by the rep that answers the phone. Some just ask for the serial #, some want both, or they will just want the serial number and type of computer (8440p).
    4. Have a Master Card or Visa ready for purchasing. They don't take Discover. You will be charged $10.00.
You will receive the disks by First Class Mail or you can pay an additional $10.00 for FedEx shipping.
Sorry, I can't answer your second question. I assume you have already tried hitting the F9 key at the HP splash screen to select the device to boot from?

  • Hp elitebook not getting ON

    hello everyone
few drops of water just hit on to mi laptop keyboard and now mi laptop is no longer getting ON.i just need our help of where might be the problem and how do i fix it

    Hello Thizo...
While I don't know what model EliteBook you have, for the past couple of years they have included a spill resistant keyboard.  Liquid spilled on the keyboard is channeled to drain out of the system (see attached picture).
Note that spill resistant does not mean waterproof!  It could be that more liquid landed on the keyboard than you thought, and it was not able to drain properly.  And of course, if it wasn't plain water that might cause some separate issues.
Since the system won't start at this point, I think the problem has gone much further than the keyboard.  My recommendation to you would be to have the laptop serviced.  If you contact HP Support for your contry / region, they should be able to assist you with this.
If you want to try repairing it yourself, I would search for your model laptop at hp.com and pull up the Maintenance and Service Guide for your unit (here is an example for an EliteBook 8570p).  That guide will have all of the necessary part numbers for the different keyboards - but like I said, I am guessing that your problem may involve more than just the keyboard.
    Good luck!

  • Elitebook 8560p Drivers (Win 8.1 & Win 10)

Hello, I just did a fresh Win 10 install on my Elitebook 8560p. I am struggling a bit wit the drivers. I am combinig some Win8, Win8.1 drivers and also drivers from Elitebook 8570p.Last year I have installed Win 8.1 on the laptop and everything worked. Now I want to try the same with the Win10 but there are allot of drivers missing from the download page (that were there, but are now gone). What happened to them?!I am missing:  - Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver
    - Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver (International)
    - Synaptics TouchPad Driver (International)
    - Alcor Micro Smart Card Reader Driver (International)
    - HP 3D DriveGuard Software
    - JMicron Media Card Reader Driver
    - Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
    - HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
    - HP UEFI Support Environment (International) I can manage without the graphics card driver, Intel Chipset driver, those I can get from the manufacturers website. Also there are some drivers that were installed with the Windows Update. But I am still missing allot of drivers that are needed for proper functionality... Can anyone please shed some light on the situation? What is the HP policy with the support for the later hardware and the new OS (Win10)? Best regards,Vedro

Hi: The product specs for your PC indicate that it comes with wireless networking only without bluetooth. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-p6-2300-Desktop-PC-series/5295969/model/5296959/document/c03500805/ If you have the wireless card pictured on the above link (RT5390) that card is not a combination wireless/bluetooth card.

  • I accidentally deleted my windows 8 partition.

    Hi.
As the title states, i accidentally deleted and reformatted the partition that windows 8 was installed on, on my EliteBook 8570p, and now the recovery tool states that it is unable to restore because of a said missing partition. I was wondering if there was any way i could restore or format back the partition in question.
    Many Thanks.

I guess i should state that this happened during a botched install of windows 7. Right now, i just want to see if i can restore windows 8 in it's original setting to this computer.

  • Hard disk 1 (301)

    Hi,
When my laptop start it appears on screen that your Hard Disk 1 smart (301).The system hard Disk has detected an imminent failure to ensure no data loss please backup the contents immediately
After this error i also run the System Diagnostic quick and comprehensive hard disk test and failed. the error message appears at startup of the windows...
i have important data and hard disk is of 500 GB but the laptop is not under warranty.
Model of my PC is HP Elitebook 8570p Notebook pc.
Can any one help me to make me out of it ,please ???????

You can put the hard disk in an external enclosure and attempt to copy data from it.
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that it will work.  That is why it is important to save any data that is important to an external storage of some sort or other.
I wish I had better news for you on this, but hard disks do fail. Replace the hard disk with a new one of the same mobile hard disk type and use the recovery media. That will enable you to restore the operating system and drivers to make the notebook useful again.
Your notebook uses mobile SATA hard disk.   SSD disks are also compatible with your notebook and are a viable performance upgrade.

  • How to set "display mode" from external keyboard

I have an EliteBook 8570p in a docking station, with an external monitor and keyboard attached.
I typically have my display mode as "duplicate", with the same thing  showing on both my laptop screen and external monitor.  I use the external monitor as the main screen. This might be uncommon, but I prefer it this way.  I've been working this way for quite a while.
I very recently started using MS PowerPoint 2013.  Today I discovered an annoying bug with this combination.  I was in "slideshow mode" for a pptx I was working on, and I pressed ESC to get back to editing the doc.  What happened was that the external monitor just showed my background wallpaper, and the laptop screen showed the normal display, along with my background wallpaper.  I then had to slide over to my laptop keyboard and press Fn-F4 and set it to "Duplicate", and that restored my external monitor display.
I'm definitely going to pursue this weird behavior with PowerPoint, but I'm going to assume out of the box that this will be difficult to change.  What I'd like to get from this forum is simply a quicker way to restore the "Duplicate" display mode.  Is there a keyboard shortcut I can use from my external keyboard to change the display mode?  There's no "Fn" key.

Although I'd still like to get an answer to this, my original problem has been solved, as I was able to disable the feature in PowerPoint 2013 that mucked with my display mode (turn off "Use Presenter View").

  • Screen brightness no longer works

never mind... glitch in Windows. Closing the screen and reopening solved it.
Originally I posted a question about why my screen brightness wasn't responding any more. The HP service responded to my Fn+ key strokes by showing the brightness bar on the screen, but it stayed on the minimum. After having the laptop (EliteBook 8570p) almost a year, it always has worked flawlessly. I also used it last weekend, even after having already rebooted after Windows updates (I have also looked at the updates and none of the descriptions came close to anything having to do with dimming the screen).
