Elitebook 8760w - Which batteries are compatible?

HI all,
I have only recently migrated over to HP from Thinkpad and would require bit of guidance from the elitebook experts to kindly help me with these two questions:
1. My battery has gone kaput and I would require replacement. I called up my local retailer and he was not familiar at all with w-series elitebooks. Instead he offered to provide me with batteries of p-series elitebooks or other probooks. I want to know which p-series batteries will work with my 8760w? Can a battery of 8440p be used with 8760w?
2. I have been using Thinkpad since 2002. It had a feature where you could control its charging thresholds. Essentially, you'd constrain the charge to remain between lower and upper limit. This avoided the battery to unnecessary remain charged at 100%. For a workstation notebook, you'd expect AC availability mostly and don't want your battery always charging. So is there any elitebook equivalent which allows setting charge thresholds?
Thanks for your time

These are the batteries you can use:
Battery:
8-cell, Li-ion, 2.8 Ah (75 WHr) 632425-001
8-cell, Li-ion, 2.8 Ah (83 WHr) 632427-001
Here is one on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-8Cell-83Wh-Genuine-Battery-for-HP-EliteBook-8560w-8760w-Laptop-QK641AA-V...
As far as the energy management program, I am also a Thinkpad user from way back and I know what you are talking about. The closest thing HP has is this:
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5071182&sp...
Power Assistant. I do not believe it has the ability to defer charging the battery unless the charge drops below a preset threshold (my Thinkpad is 90%) so as to avoid adding unnecessary charging cycles. But you can look at it a bit closer to double check. If HP has it, it is in that app.

  • Which hdds are compatible with hp pavilion dv6700t cto entertainment notebook pc (out of warranty)

I recently purchased a Seagate momentus as replacement http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148591 thinking it would be compatible but when i tried to replace
the connections(interface) was not compatible with the laptop. Is there an adapter to resolve this problem?
if not which hdds are compatible?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
If you have the original HDD, check that there is not a black plastic adapter that you can pull off the old drive and fit to the new one.

  • Satellite L350-277 - Which cards are compatible?

Nowhere in the documentation does it tell you which 3 cards are compatible. It is the same size as a PCMCIA slot but that does not work.
Anyone know which 3 cards can be used?

    Thank for the reply.
The 3in1 comes from the PC World website :-
Which says "As well as thoughtful connectivity coming in the form of 3 USB ports, a 3-in-1 card reader and built-in WiFi technology for wireless internet connection, the Toshiba Satellite L350-277 also comes with a built-in VGA webcam for "face-to face chatting."
I had never heard of an ExpressCard before so I looked on e-Bay. It looks like it has a 54 slot, not sure about the 34. Not sure how that would work.
    Anyway - thanks.

  • Which cameras are compatible with the capture feature in adobe premiere pro?

My son is making stop motion videos and wants to be able to use the capture feature on adobe premiere pro where you connect your camera via USB and can capture images on your computer through your camera. I'm looking into buying him a camera and am trying to find a list of digital cameras that are compatible with this feature, he has a small fuji camera now that will not let him do so.

What the other users have said is correct. Premiere captures through FireWire or through SDI/HDMI via a 3rd party solution.
For your situation I would say the best bet is to connect you camera to your computer via USB or use a card reader and copy the entire directory to your hard drive and ingest into Premiere via Media Browser.
If you Google 'how to make stop motion in premiere pro' there are tons of great tutorials.

  • Upgrade machine to QuickSilver, which ones are compatible w/ current boards

    Greetings Apple Discussions:
The Sawtooth is freezing, especially with DVD burning and GarageBand or other heavy task. The machine first started freezing every once and a while when I added the video card and started running two monitors at one time. Now it freezes more often. I was wondering if this stock power supply needed upgrading, but most of my additional devices are externally powered. The two cards and two internal hardrive upgrade and additions are internal. Here is a list of the relevant info from the System Profiler. I edited some of it to be direct and simple.
I basically need to know which QuickSilver can except the video and PCI cards I have added.
I would appreciate if someone could help me with this issue.

Thank you for your time and information.
Your saying 133MZ ram will work on 100MZ and 133MZ machines and but 100MZ ram will only work on 100MZ machines?
Is the 133MZ noticebly faster than the 100MZ machines? The Power Macintosh G4 "Digital Audio", tends to be a lower priced (used) machine, than the QuickSilver.
I forgot about the processor. Thanks for pointing that out. I contacted OWC and they gave me these compatible models for this particular processor:
    • Power Macintosh G4 "Sawtooth"

  • Which monitors are compatible?

    Hi,
I have a much loved iMac G3, indigo, 400mhz, slotloader that is suffering unfixable CRT problems...horizontal static lines that jumble 99.9% of the display screen.
To fix it would cost a small fortune. I have a PowerBook G4 that I love, BUT I love working with Photoshop, and the colors are not true on the PowerBook. Just a bare tilt of the screen changes the look of everything so I have no way of checking my work.
I don't want to have to buy a whole new computer. The broken one is only 6 years old...started dying at 3yrs 1mo old...a month after the extended AppleCare expired.
I've been looking all over trying to find out which of the budget priced monitors will be compatible with my iMac so I can use it again. I can't seem to find a list of compatible monitors anywhere. Would anyone here know which monitors will work when I connect it to my disabled iMac?
    Thank you.

This is the iMac Intel forum, therefore you may not get too many replies, although you only need one:)

  • MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-875S - Anyone know which media are compatible with this

    Hi,
I bought the Matshita DVD-RAM US-875S from the PowerBook Guy and installed it in my G4 Pismo. I have corresponded with their support--who reply, but without actually answering. On PowerBook Guy's site, the thing is described as a Superdrive DL DVD-R-RW burner/player. I know this is a very basic question but I need to know if that means it will burn and play ONLY DVD-R and -RW whether DL or regular. I've asked them and they just say "It supports several different media. Ask on the Matsushita site."
Okay, there is probably some Matsushita site with that info, but I can't find it. I've gone through four pages of Google searches and haven't found a Mats site that has it. Panasonic Customer Support--or Parts--doesn't find it after a search.
System Profiler says it will write -R, -RAM, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL. That's great if it does, because +R DLs are much easier to find than -R DLs. But why would PB Guy call it a -R-RW burner/player instead of telling you all the capabilities?
I found one site (CDfreaks.com) that says write speed as follows:
    DVD-R 8 x
    DVD-RW 6 x
    DVD-R DL 4 x
    DVD+R 8 x
    DVD+RW 8 x
    DVD+R DL 4 x
    DVD-RAM 5 x
Note that it give DVD-R DL, which System Profiler does not. And DVD+R DL which PowerBook Guy does not. Does anyone know what the capabilities of this drive are, or where I can find a definitive answer? Thanks for any help you can give. Giles

Okay, for anyone who's interested, here's what I found on a British site called TheBookyard.com.
The Matshita (or Panasonic) UJ-875 slimline (I assume that's what the S means) is a replacement drive for the discontinued UJ-85J, the only difference in the specs being that the newer drive is slightly faster on the DL writing:
    Specifications
    Interface: IDE/ATAPI, Ultra DMA Mode4
    Buffer: Memory 2 MB
    Loading: Method Slot loading
    Dimensions: 5.07” x 5.03” x 0.5”
    Read Speeds: DVD-ROM 8X, CD-ROM 24X
    Write Speeds:DVD-RAM 5x, DVD±R 8X (SL) 6X (DL), DVD-RW 6X, DVD+RW 8X, CD-R 24X, CD-RW 24X
So if it really does all this (haven't had time to test different media) I'm happy. My only question now (except re the error message in a separate post) is: Why does PowerBook Guy call it a DVD-R,-RW?

  • Satellite A30-414: Which CPUs are compatible?

Hello, I have a satellite a30-414 without the cpu and I don't know which cpu is suitable to use.
    Is the socket 478? 479?
    Must I use a P4M 2.4Ghz or I can use also a P4M 2.0 as the SL6CL or 1.6 as the SL5YU?
    Thanks to all.

    Hi
I have investigated in the net for A30 details and it seems that the following CPUs could be compatible.
Intel Celeron CPU up to 2.8GHz (without HTT)
Intel Pentium 4 (NW) CPU up to 3.06GHz (without HTT)
Intel Pentium 4 (NW) CPU up to 3.2GHz (with HTT)
Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott) CPU up to 3.46GHz (with HTT)
But in my knowledge the Toshiba doesnt support any CPU replacement. Therefore you will not get any warranty that the notebook will run stable after CPU replacement.
You should consider the overheating issues after CPU upgrade. The fact is that faster CPUs produce more warmness and therefore the temperature increase.

  • Tecra A6 (PTA60E) - which harddisks are compatible

    Hi,
I have a corrupt 100 GB Hitachi harddisk in my Tecra A6 that I want to replace. Are there any limitations in Bios as to which harddisks I can use as a replacement. I am aware of the size and interface limitations, but I am wondering if there are any hidden limitations in the Bios, and if so, if the impact of these limitations only results in a lower capacity on the harddrive than expected from the specifications of the disk.
    Thanks,
    Per

    Hi perhol,
Tecra A6 already uses SATA HDD controller and that means there are no capacity limits regarding HDD. This was only important on older IDE interface.
So you can buy every SATA 2.5 HDD that you want. For example 320GB models have a good price-performance ratio.
There are a lot of different manufactures like Toshiba, Western Digital, etc. There is no big difference so you can buy what you want. :)

  • Which DVDs are compatible with Mac?

DVD-R or DVD+R?? I've searched the forum discussions & there seem to be conflicting views. I thought it was DVD-R, but I've had some problems burning these. Can anyone advise me which is the best type to get?

It is not so much the type of DVD that matter, but the brand.
Most of here use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Maxell are also OK. Most other brands have poor quality coatings, which is what matters.
Moreover, they should be burned at a slow burn speed of 2x or 4x.
    More information on DVD-R v. DVD+R here:

  • Which phones are compatible with OVI

    1. Should I upgrade to OVI from PC-suite for use with a Nokia 6021 phone?
    2. Can somebody put a list of compatible phones on your OVI web site.  I got a message when starting PC-suite saying I should upgrade to OVI and to go to the web site to check if my phone was compatible but I could not find any link to a list of compatible phones.

Your question might be better answered by turning it around to read "what Nokia phones is OVI compatible with?" The answer is 0. Ovi is garbage software that should be withdrawn and trashed.
The drones at Nokia have completely gone to sleep on this and are not responding to posts. Try going back to the main thread of this forum, scan the posts and attempt to find any satisfied OVI users.
Frankly, I am really **bleep** off with Nokia and I am just here to cane them until my contract runs out and I can move to a competent maker without having to pay an arm and leg to walk. Until then I have a mobile that functions only as a telephone. Not good enough Nokia!!

  • Which browsers are compatible with Cp6?

    Hello,
I have Cp6, Windows XP, and IE8 and am creating Cptx files.  These are just the standard swf files which are SCORM 1.2 enabled.  The files open fine in my IE8 browser.  Some of our employess are using Windows 7 and Chrome for example.  They are unable to open the swf file I provide.
Which Windows and Browswers are recommended for Cp6?  And, are there known issues with using environments other than Cp6, WXP and IE8?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
I have Flash 11.6.602.168.  It's probably the same version on the W7 laptop but I'll double check.
On a different note, I noticed I'm suddenly unable to convert a Word 2010 doc to a PDF.  Well it converts but all of the text shown on the PDF is really small, too small to read, and pushed into the upper left corner of the page.  I'm wondering if that's a Flash issue as well.

  • Replacing SD-R6112 - which drives are compatible for Satellite A30?

    Hi,
I would like to replace my old CD DVD combo drive SD-R6112 installed on a satellite A30 laptop into a newer drive. (another drive which could burn DVD faster and burn DVD double layer if possible.)
Do you know which model I could buy in order to replace my old defect SD-R6112?

    Hello guys
Fact is that you will need a drive with the right master /slave or c-sel settings.
Not compatible drives with wrong settings would be not recognized by BIOS.
You should also know that these settings cannot be changed like on the external drive by switching the jumpers.
Therefore I would really recommend asking the ASP in your country for compatible devices.
I have investigated a little bit in the net and found these:
    - Matsu****a CD-RW/DVD-ROM UJDA740,
    - Matsu****a DVD-RAM UJ-810,
    - Matsu****a DVD-ROM SR-8177
    - TOSHIBA CD-RW/DVD SD-R2212,
    - TOSHIBA DVD-R/-RW SD-R6012
    Hope I could help

  • Which Elements are compatible with mac os 10.6.8?

I have Photoshop Elements_3, which is giving me a licensing message and won't allow use. If I get a newer version, which one would be best? My system is too old to support the newest version, I think.

v11 will work on 10.6.8,  The v12 Editor will work on 10.6.8 but not the Organizer.
