Finally! elp has arrived.
Apple finally found the bug in the keyboard firmware and posted a patch which only works in Leopard. I suppose those still using Tiger and under warranty should return their computers for a new keyboard with updated firmware. Or maybe Apple will later release a patch for Tiger.

I had the same issue: Aperture 2.1, MBP and external display, color shifting in full screen mode.
Searching on the net, I found the following article on apple web site and applied its fix even if the article is dated from June 2006... It worked for me!
# Open the Color Sync utility, located at /Applications/Utilities.
# Click the Devices icon.
# Click the disclosure triangle next to Displays.
# Select your second display.
# Click the Make Default button.

How do I fix my MacBook Pro that continues to abruptly turn off, no matter what I am doing? Even after deleting items/trying resolution methods?

How can I fix my MacBook Pro? I have a relatively recent model of the MacBook Pro. I’ve been running Mavericks.
For the past few days, it has been randomly clicking off by itself, I guess crashing. I would be online or just doings on it, sometimes nothing at all, and the screen would go black, the computer would turn off. Then, I would proceed to try to turn it back on, and it won’t turn on for several minutes, no matter what buttons you push. I tried doing an SMC reset for myself. It did not help much. I deleted all my personal files, including plug-ins, especially flash player. I thought that helped, but the computer proceeded to turn off minutes later. Then, out of frustration, (as I have done twice or so before since having the computer) I did what may be called a factory reset for my computer. I erased the current operating system information/memory in disk utility, and then went on to reinstall OS X. This was working fine, and then, a few minutes into the downloading process, my computer turned off once again.
Now, I have no system to operate on. I keep turning the computer back on to try to do it again. But now, the computer tries to do a remote or internet recovery, and tries to re-download an operating system using my WiFi. I’m sure this would be successful, but the computer can’t function for more than a minute or two without crashing/turning off.
I am fairly certain that my power button is NOT stuck.
I did earlier notice the fan making noise, before doing the SMC reset.
The computer did seem to say there was no batteries available at one point.
(But all of this was okay after some point, and I was just doing the reset to try to correct the turning off the system was still doing)
A week or two ago, I did have a glitch where my desktop picture was flashing and acting weird, and other functions on my computer keyboard not working, like volume, keyboard brightness, etc. But I did fix it.
I have not ever had much on this Macbook pro. I do not download applications. I do not store nearly any files on the computer. I usually only use the flash player plug-in. This computer is only used for doing work/business, and for personal use online.
I can’t see why I would have so many problems.
Is it possible that erasing the memory twice or so before is causing an error or issue in the drive?
What is the root of this problem, and how can I fix it on my own?
I can’t really make any progress on the computer since it turns off after only a minute or two no matter what you are trying to do.
What do I do now?

if your MacBook Pro doesn’t stay active long enough to perform an OS X Internet Recovery, then you should make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service provider to have them diagnose what’s ailing it.

I see a mention of Google Chrome and VirtualBox in your log. Stop using those and see if the situation changes? From what we know so far, the problem is a software one (Apple's fault), not a hardware problem. Mountain Lion is supposed to fix the issue, which should be out in about a week. So you could wait til then, upgrade to ML, and see if its still crashing or not.

Usually firmware updates are for the hardware itself to fix things and to prepare for features of the next operating system.
You see, I have it too and I'm on 10.6.8 with a Early 2011, the reason I haven't installed it is because it's been constantly changing and causing people issues like this fellow.
EFI 2.1, then 2.2, then 2.3 and now it's 2.7? LOL

Is 10.4.9 safe for Macbook Pro again?

In march 2007 I installed (or at least I tried to..) maxosx 10.4.9 on my Macbook Pro. Like many others I got that red exclamation sign and I couldn't boot it any more...
I haven't been able to use my MBP for two months (problems with obtaining a working boot dvd, mine had scratches on it...), but I've managed to fix it today running 10.4.5.
At this point I'd like to install 10.4.9 again, but I'm just really really afraid it will crash my computer again!
Can anyone tell me if it's safe to install the Mac OSX-updates, or should I just stick to 10.4.8 (which worked for me)??

What do you mean by "again?" The update has not been reissued, so what you installed before will be the same that you install now.
Generally all updates are safe, but when applied to a system that's messed up with directory damage or wrong file persmissions, applying the update will only compound the problem.
The only thing you can do is to make sure you're system is in tip top shape before applying the update.

The normal value of battery capacity for macbook pro

Hi there,
I noticed my battery full charge capacity value is way below the technical specification from Apple.
For macbook pro 15" early 2011 version a 77.5W battery is built-in.
However, so far after 4 cycle, my full charge capacity is 6913mAh.
It seems that I missed something. Though I didn't really notice the initial value when it's brandnew.
Statistically what's the average value of the new battery will be ? around 75W or 7500mAh? Any idea?

When buying HD versions of shows, only the HD copy will automatically download now (probably due to requests from people who don't need/want the SD version and complained about it being forced on them). The SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes, though. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select TV shows. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the shows and be able to download them.

How can I know if my new internal hd for macbook pro is compatible?

I have been trying to upgrade my internal HD for macbook pro early 2008 2.4 and have been having a hard time getting it to boot. Problems with both WD and Seagate. I am wondering if the problem is with Mavericks. I got a good back up from Time Machine to load on the hybrid drive. Then when I try to restart it shows the apply symbol with no chime and then a black screen comes over the blue screen with some code (strange problem I have never seen) I can see that all the data is on the drive. I was able to partitian in disk utility. Anything ringing a bell. I have done several switches like this and this is the first time I have had so much trouble. I reinstalled my old drive just to make sure there was not another hardward issue and everything is fine there. In fact I have a new logic board freshly installed by mac.

Your machine has a SATA 2 interface and I'm sure the new drives are SATA 3. They should still step down and work though. It's possible your SATA cable is marginal and the newer drive is trying to demand more out of it than the old one did. A good test would be to put the new drive in an external enclosure and see if it works ok from there. If so, it's probably the cable.

Those are same as use by Apple in the non-retina macbook Pro, Ive got piles of them, only a Hitachi is better.
Toshiba HD are a hair noisy even by Toshiba own admission, but no big deal.
I would NEVER buy from OWC merely for the reasons that their prices are miserable.

That does not work on model year older then 2010 and really doesn't work on any older then late 2011 models.
You will need a set of original system dvd disc thjat are always sypplied with every mac sold before Lion came out. Systems older then late release early 2011 models.
If you don't have them you kcan order a replacement set from apple by calling them. Have the serial number of you mac handy.
