  • WLS 8.1 silent configuration

    In weblogic server 8.1,
When Creating a template for a silent configuration of a domain, is there a way
to change the domain name? I have been able to use the config.sh -mode=silent
command with a configuration script to create a domain and change the server name
and other parameters but not the domain name. I'l like to use the same template
to create multiple domain with the same basic configuration but different names.

I'm sorry to say that I dont have an answer for this, but am interested to see
if you have an answer to a related question ( http://newsgroups.bea.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=article&group=weblogic.developer.interest.81beta.server.install&item=48&utag=
Also on WL 8.1, I'm trying to set username/passwords in the silent_script, but
    the syntax outlined at http://e-docs.bea.com/platform/docs81/confgwiz/silent.html
    doesn't work.
    cheers

  • Silent configuration of FMW 11.1.1.3.0 Forms and Reports only

    Hello everybody,
How to send useconfigure_only.rsp via a command line for silent configuration.
I created a response file via running conifig.bat. Forms Services,Reports services, Forms builder, Reports builder ,ohs, web cache, em only selected(Portal and Dicoverer are not required).
    I tried following ways:
    1. C:\Oracle\Middleware\FRHome\oui\bin> setup.exe -silent -response useconfigure_only.rsp
    2. C:\Oracle\Middleware\FRHome\bin> conifig.bat -silent -response useconfigure_only.rsp
    3. C:\Oracle\Middleware\FRHome\bin> config.bat -mode=silent -silent_script=useconfigure_only.rsp
    Nothing worked for me.
    Details: OS windows XP
Installed wls10.3.3 + ofpd11.1.1.2.0(silint mode with Do Not Configure) + opfd11.1.1.3.0(silint mode with Do Not Configure)

Since it is XP, you should not select ohs,web cache and em. Try again without these and see if it goes through.

  • EPM silent configuration

    Hi,
Does anyone have experience using EPM silent configuration?  I see more value for silent configuration than installation.  It seems very useful since passwords can be changed but wanted to know if any gotha.
    Thanks.

    Hi
I have been using silent installation and configuration and we have semi-automated the process.
You can generate the XML files and use installTool.cmd -silent "RSPfileLoc" and configTool.bat -silent "RSPFileloc"
I did not see any issue major issues but a few issues what I found were as below
    1. Registry lock is not released if the configurator was abruptly closed
    2. Multiple configuration attempts leads to multiple entries in Windows registry
    3. Ensure the WL is on before you start the deploy (This can happen even in GUI based setup)
    4. If you are automating it on windows , I did not see a direct method where one process triggers after the other  . Since they open a new Window .

  • How to run a silent configuration for Forms and Reports 11g ?

    Hi all,
I've run a silent installation for Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 in Windows 7 64 bit.
I made it using a response file called install_only.rsp. Now I want to run the configuration also in silent mode.
How can I do it ?
I know that I can use a template called configure_only.rsp. However, i don't know what is the correct syntax for the command to start configuration.
Should I use the same setup.exe installer and inform configure_only.rsp as response file ?
The command below is the appropriate command for this task:
    setup.exe -silent -response configure_only.rsp
Or is there another way to be followed?
    Thanks a lot.

Alright, I eventually found the answer.
Configuration must be run from directory on windows.
    Command is shown below:
    <FORMS_HOME>/bin/config.bat -silent -response <path-to-response-file>

  • How to do a silent configuration of SQL Server 2005 to a static tcp port ?

    Hello,
I have a SQL server 2005 but after checking the ports of sql server,it is observed that dynamic ports are being used.
I want to install SQL server 2005 and configure SQL serevr to a static TCP port by using silent mode of installation. There are ways to do it using SQL configuration manager and using server network utility but I want it through the silent mode.
Please help to assist how this can be achieved through silent mode of installation.

    Hi AshishB,
According to your description, you want to configure SQL Server to a static TCP port by using silent mode of installation. I recommend you use WMI scripting and the SQL Server WMI provider. After installation, change the TCP/IP port with the script. For
more information about silent installing with fixed TCP port, you can review the following article.
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/914f8b72-3164-47ae-91fb-f7ed6f8ea7e6/silent-install-with-fixed-tcp-port?forum=sqlexpress
There is detail about how to configure that manual by launching the SQL Server configuration manager, enabling TCP/IP connections, specifying the ports from the command line, you can review the following post.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9138172/enable-tcp-ip-remote-connections-to-sql-server-express-already-installed-databas

  • Firefox 27.1 silent install and configuration(homepage, proxys and bookmark)

    Hello,
I am trying to perform a silent install and configuration for Firefox 27.1 but I am not able to get the same results I got with versions 26 and below. For these previous versions I used the method described in this link:
    http://www.mockbox.net/configmgr-sccm/174-install-and-configure-firefox-silently
But for Firefox 27 creating the Mozilla.cfg and the other files doesn't seem to work. Could you please tell me how to silently configure the proxys and homepage on Firefox 27.1 during the install. I also need to add a bookmark during the installation. Could you please tell me how to do that as well? I found some methods saying I had to edit a bookmark.html file but I don't think this file is present on firefox 26 on.
    thank you in advance.
    regards.

thank you for your reply guigs2, unfortunately none of those links were helpful for me. As I mentioned in my question I already tried the silent install method using the Mozilla.cfg file. It worked for the previous versions but it doesn’t work for version 27 anymore. As for the INI file, that doesn’t help me either since I need to configure the homepage, proxies and bookmarks all during the installation, for the INI all I’ve seen is that you can configure INSTALLDIR, shortcuts etc. Configuring proxies, homepage and bookmarks through group policies as one of the solutions said is not an option for me, I need to do that during the silent install of Firefox 27.

Oracle has configured EM for you with the hosname dbu1vip_ssp and that's not found now. So if you are using DHCP, you need to use a static IP for the machine before you next time configure EM for the db.

Check the listener.ora and see what hostname its using. Also compare that with the IP assigned to your machine at the moment.

  • Configuration mail notification in dbconsole (Windows)

    Hi,
I have 10.2.0.4 db running on Windows 2003/64
    Dbconsole also has been installed.
I can not define password for user mail account on the SMTP server. I can define only user name.
My question is how I can configure mail server/account on the SMTP server that give me send emails from dbconsole.
mail server lives on the other site.
Do I need to install local server or something else?
All users on the SMTP server have passwords.
I know that I can add password to the sender emuser in OEM and this field exluded in dbconsole notification configuration page.
    Thanks,
    Oleg

    Hi,
On GC console click on Setup and then on Notification Method which is on teh left side menu. Now you will get a form where you can enter the username , password & email address. On this form there is a button on the top righ hand cornor called Test Mail servers. By clicking on this you can test your email alerts through your smtp server.
    Hope this halps.

  • Cannot start dbconsole in Oracle Personal 11g

I just installed Oracle Personal, but the command emctl start fbconsole will not run - it gives a not found error message.
IT says OC4J Configuration issue followed by a long path and I followed the path to OC4J_DBCONSOLE.
the file not found is referring to that path plus the folder name continues which is in the format my host name : my SID
I have no such folder under OC4J_DBCONSOLE I have 4 folders under it that are spplication-deployments, config, connectors, and META-INF.
Bsaed on the long error message it looks like the last folder in the path is actually "j2ee" and the rest beginning with OC4J_DB_CONSOLE plus hostname plus SID is the missing file name.
Can anyone tell me how to correct this? How does this long file get created?

Here is the output I got from running emva...drop & create

  • 100% CPU Usage Overhead running EM DBConsole 11g on OEL-5.2

After upgrading to OEL-5.2 and relinking all Oracle binaries, my old Oracle 11g installation, installed several months before on OEL-5.1, has been working well, including Enterprise Manager Database Console working nicely as always with respectful performance. Unfortunatelly, it lasted just several days.
Yesterday I decided to uninstall the 11g completely and perform new clean installation (software and database) with the same configuration options and settings as before, including EM dbconsole, all configured using dbca. After completing the installation (EM was started automatically by dbca), oracle continued to suck 80-85% CPU time. In further few minutes CPU utilization raised up to 99% due to only one (always the same PID) client process - "oracleorcl (LOCAL=NO)". For first ten minutes I didn't care too much since I always enable Automatic Management in dbca. But after two hours, I started to worry. The process was still running, consuming sustained 99% of CPU power. No other system activity, no database activity, no disks activity at all!
I was really puzzled since I installed and reinstalled the 11g at least 20 times on OEL-5.0 and 5.1, experimenting with ASM, raw devices, loopback devices and various combinations of installation options, but never experienced such a behaviour. It took me 3 minutes to log in to EM dbconsole as it was almost unusable performing too slow. After three hours CPU temperature was nearly 60 degrees celsius. I decided to shutdown EM and after that everything became quiet. Oracle was running normally. Started EM again, the problem was back again. Tracing enabled, it filled a 350 MB trace file in just 20 minutes. Reinstalling the software and database once again didn't help. Whenever EM is up, the CPU usage overhead of 99% persists.
Here is a cca 23 minutes session summary report taken from EM dbconsole's Performance page. The trace file is too big to list it here, but it shows the same.

----------------------------------------Wow!!! Note: no disk, no database activity !
Has anyone experienced this or similar behaviour after clean 11g installation on OEL-5.2? If not, anyone has a clue what the hell is going on?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tommy,
I didn't want to experiment further with already working OEL-5.2, oracle and dbconsole on this machine, specially not after googling the problem and finding out that I am not alone in this world. There are another two threads on OTN forums (Database General) showing the same problem even on 2GB machines:
    DBConsole easting a CPU
11g stuck. 50-100% CPU after fresh install
So, I took another, a smaller free machine I've got at home (1GB RAM, 2.2MHz Pentium4, three 80GB disks), on which I used to experiment with new releases of software (this is the machine on which I installed 11g for the first time when it was released on OEL-5.0, and I can recall that everything was OK with EM). This is what I did:
    1. I installed OEL-5.0 on the machine, adjusted linux and kernel parameters, and performed full 11g installation. Database and EM dbconsole worked nice with acceptable performance. Without activity in the database, %CPU = zero !!! The whole system was perfectly quiet.
    2. Since everything was OK, I shutdown EM and oracle, and performed the full upgrade to OEL-5.2. When the upgrade finished, restarted the system, relinked all oracle binaries, and started oracle and EM dbconsole. Both worked perfectly again, just as before the upgrade. I repeated restarting the database and dbconsole several times, always with the same result - it really rocks. Without database activity, %CPU = zero%.
    3. Using dbca, I dropped the database and created the new one with the same configuration options. Wow! I'm again in trouble. A half an hour after the creation of the database, %CPU raised up to 99%. That's it.
The crucial question here is: what is that in OEL-5.2, not existing in the 5.0, that causes dbca/em scripts to be embarrassed at the time of EM agent configuration?
Here are the outputs you required picked 30 minutes after starting the database and EM dbconsole (sustained 99% CPU utilization). Note that this is just a 1GB machine.

  • Oracle DBconsole service does not start

    Hi,
Db 10g 2 on Win XP pro. When I want start Oracle DBconsole service , it does not start. I receive a message from windows to see the provider and says that error code is 2. When I look at event logs of windows it is said abnormal exit and event code is 4. Cosequently it is impossible to see DB control in Internet Explorer browser.
    Thanks for your help.

Thank you Madrid. I resolved the problem. I had this :
    set ORACLE_SID=ORCL2
C:\Documents and Settings\> emctl stop dbconsole
OC4J Configuration issue. C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2 not found.
Actually I had C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee\LAPTOP-145.b-a-w.com_orcl. Then I should have create OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2.I created that and no more problem.
My question is where emctl look for this name OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2 ? In tnsnames.ora, in sqlnet. ora or some where else ? Thank you.
    can anyone answer please ?

    Hello;
I'm thinking this step was either missed of you have a typo :
Change the entry of .bash_profile file of the oracle user and add following lines:
    vi /home/oracle/.bash_profile
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/home/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATHIf your ORACLE_HOME is set it should find the "emca".
You can test by running these export commands at the Linux prompt.
The which command is your friend
    which emca
