  • Do I need license to patch agent through grid control deployment wizard

In grid control, we have license to use database diagnostics pack and database tuning pack.
I know wihtout license for provision pack, I cannot patch database homes using grid control deployment tab. But I'm wondering if I can patch grid control agent through deployment page without license for the prvision pack.
    thanks

There is no management pack license needed for patching the agent. You can get clear details what link needs what packs when you click on '+' symbol (Show Management Pack Information) right to the "About Oracle Enterprise Manager" at the extreme down on OEM screen.
When you click on "Show Management Pack Information", it will show what pack needed next to every link in paranthesis. If there is no pack information mentioned next to link means, there is no license needed for that link.

  • Grid control pugin for PostgreSql Plugin ?

I don't find Grid control plugin for PostgreSQL plugin.
Can we manage PostgreSQL database with Oracle Grid Control 11g without plugin ?

    Dominik,
You can't find a plugin for monitoring/managing PostgreSQL because it is not available (yet?). Here you can find all the plugins currently available: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/extensions/index.html

  • Deploying oem grid control to e bussiness suites

We have installation of EBS R12, the AMP pack for EBS system is installed on the and already running. Now we want to use oem grid control to manage the EBS suites.
We have installed the eom 11G grid control and installed the application management pack patche (p8333939). How do we now deploy the enterprise manager grid control to EBS.
The documentation says agent needs to installed on the database tier and application tier and then discovered by the oem
Any idea on how to install the agent on the tier?

The platform is solaris 10. I have deploying to the database tier and the following errors is received

  • JBOSS Plugin for Grid Control 10.2.0.5

    Hi,
I have configured two 4.2.2 JBOSS instances in our 10.2.0.5 grid control. In one JBOSS instance the application is deployed as an EAR file and in the second the application is deployed as a WAR file. The JBOSS instance using the EAR file does not show our EAR file under the Applications link in Grid Control, whereas the JBOSS instance with the WAR file correctly shows our WAR file in the applications link.
Are there any restrictions with the JBOSS plugin and EAR files?
    Thanks
    Mark

If you have DNS to resolve the host name and ip-address of the OMS server from the agent server thats ok. And the same goes for resolving the host name and ip-address of the OMS server from the server where the agent is installed.
You say it works now. So you have DNS working, and the OMS - agent connections work fine? Right? No need to add extra entries in the hosts files.
The note should probably say: if you don't use DNS then you should add the entries in the hosts file.

  • Microsoft plug in deployment errors on grid control

    Hi,
I keep getting errors when deploy microsoft_sqlserver_Databse plug in to grid control server.
"The preferred credentials are not set for "server name"".
I set the credential for microsoft SQL server on preference page, however, i still get same error.
Have anyone encountered the same problem? Is there a better guide for Microsoft plus in deployment?
    Thanks for your help,
    ~Amy

  • Got warnning in Grid control agent deployment

I met the the error message '
PROBLEM : The host name in /etc/hosts is not proper.
WARNING : Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
RECOMMENDATION : Please verify the hostname is /etc/hosts and the start the installation. '
while I deploy Grid Control agent.
    My /etc/hosts
    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    192.168.0.191 ms191.ranfone.com ms191
    192.168.0.153 main
ms191 is my OMS SERVER host. main is the target that I want to deploy agent.
I know the hosts should be configured like this .
    ip hostname.domain host
however I don't have a domain name . is it neccessary?
    Thanks for your kind help.

I have modified my /etc/hosts file and the problem is solved.
and I don't think the localhost.domain line should be commented.
if so, the listener can't start successfully.
    anyway. thanks for you reply.

    Hi.

  • Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Manager Plugin Installation on oem grid control 12c facing error

    Hi Friends,
I am planning to monitor Peoplesoft 8.52 HRMS application through oem 12c grid control. First I have installed 12c grid control successfully. Followed by I am installing the Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Manager Plugin in 12c oem repository containing 11g database. I am facing configuration assistant error message as below
OUI-25031 some of configuration assistance failed.
Configuration assistant "PeopleSoft Environment Management Repository Plug-in" failed
The "/u01/oracle/cloudcontrol/middleware/oms/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please assist me how shall I proceed further...

    Hi,
I just came across the same problem.
In my case, I hit this issue while trying to reinstall Oracle EMCC 12g.
Since previous installation failed, I decided to start from the beginning again but I am now hitting this.
Before trying to reinstal, I dropped SYSMAN and a few other users created on the provided DB.
    Did you solve this issue?
I believe I may have not "clean up" the database properly. Which would be the right way of wiping out the DB without actually rebuild it again?
    Thanks
    Angel

  • Patch Deployment with Grid Control

    Hello *,
i tried to move a patch to a 9i database. My grid-control is installed on a laptop with w2k and is running fine. The patch should be deployed to another laptop with an installed 9.2.0.4 database. The job is starting and creates the new directory and subdirectory on the target host but then the job failed with the following message.
java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host: connect
I found nothing in metalink, so where is the problem?
    Greetz
    Ulli

I think this is a windows related problem. It's not so easy to transfer files to a windows workstation, ftp normally does not work, unless a ftp server is running. The formal explanation of this error says, the target host cannot be reached because of router or firewall problems, but this may be misleading in this case. If you have a support contract (hopefully), you should open a TAR.

  • OEM Grid Control 10g Deployment

    Hi,
We are planning to deploy OEM Grid Control 10g (with Diagnostics and Performance Management packs) for management and monitoring of following targets:
    Oracle Databases (9.2.x, 10.x) - 12
    Oracle Application Servers 10g - 6
OEM documentation states that for smaller deployments (targets < 100); following h/w specs would be sufficient:
    CPU: 1 (3GHz)
Memory: 4 GB (2GB for OMS, 2GB for OMR)
Disk Storage: 12 GB (2GB for OMS, 10GB for OMR)
    I want to know:
    i) Will that amount of disk storage will be sufficient?
ii) What would be the growth rate of OMR (Oracle Management Repository)?
iii) What other factors should be considered?
    All suggestions are welcome.
    Regards,
    Preet

    Hi Preet,
We had a 200+ (now 700+) target install in a major Telco and at that time
the repository database size was just 25 GB. So 10 GB for the database
itself should be ok. However sounds like you are crunched for space.
Bear in mind you need space for the installation of the EM10g OMS home,
the Agent Home and the Database home. So I dont think 12 GB is enough
for you. Try it out in test.
    Regards,
    Porus.

  • Deploying Apache_fop war file  -- no OEM Grid Control

    Hi
Does anyone know how I would go about deploying the Apache_fop war file on a machine where OEMgridControl is not installed, eg An XE Database upgraded to Apex 3.0.1 or any other database without Grid contol.
The instructions for deployment all assume OEM Grid control is installed.

I copied an existing working structure and this worked for me.

  • Version of agents that can be deployed for grid control 10.1.0.2 on Win2k

We have the 10.1.0.2 grid control installed on a AIX 5.2 server.
We would like to manage targets residing on windows 2000 platforms with this grid control installation.
I would like to understand which version of agent should we be installing on the windows platforms, for them to be managed by the grid control. Does the version of the agent have to be the same as the grid control installation?

Thanks for the update. I checked the other thread, but my question was more about exact 10g versions of the agent and the grid console.
I want to know if a 10.1.0.4 or 10.1.0.3 agent will be able to talk to a 10.1.0.2 grid console.
I had one more question about the downloadable 10g agent for Windows 2000. As of now under http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agentsoft.html
I see the downloadable agent only for Windows NT. Does this work for Windows 2000 as well.
I would appreciate if anyone could throw a light on this.
