Em new Tablespace with OFA names

Hello,
I created my database with the DBCA and used OFA for the datafiles names. When creating a new Tablespace with the Enterprise Manager, he wants a file name from me. Is there any way to use OFA with the EM ?

I noticed the same behavior of EM also. Didn't care much, because I am a command line addicted :-)
If you create your Database on ASM, though, then EM gives you full support for using OMF conventions together with (default) ASM templates. But the main benefit of ASM is not to lead EM to nice behavior in that particular area, of course.
Short answer is: Not that I am aware of, sorry.

Restore a database in a new instance with different name

Hello, I need restore a database in a different server. I have a backup of 01-Jan-2008 on tape on DataProtector and I need to restore in another server in order to extract some information for a datawarehouse, I need restore with a name different because on that server we have a standby database. The both servers are HP ia64 and have Unix. I have installed Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 EE. I read the Oracle RMAN Advanced but the process is for duplicate the database, I need restore a backup from 01-Jan-2008. Can you help me please. What steps should I run. Thanks for your answer.

Can you check on the target if the backup pieces are still registered in the controlfile?

If no information is available:
1) "I can't use the same name for the database." -> excludes a restore/recover on the standby server.
2) "how can I restore the database whitout catalog in other server" -> excludes a duplication to new name.
If you want to keep it simple find a third HP ia64 machine where you can mirror your production environment and restore the complete backup set and recover the database keeping the name of the target.

Moving DP Content to a New Server With Same Name

We are currently in the middle of a server OS refresh from 2k8 to 2k12 R2. Some of the servers are DPs so I need to move the content from one server to another. The big problem is that the new server must have the same name.
I've read this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1ffcaa47-9bf8-476d-965e-28350a6bef1b/move-content-from-old-dp-to-new-dp-at-same-remote-site?forum=configmanagerapps which kind of covers my issue but I presume this person was going to
a server with a new name.
Has anyone done this? Is it possible?
Unless there is something clever the only way I see to do this is to uninstall the DP role from the current server, remove the current server from the domain, add the new server with the same name, re-install the DP role and then re-distribute all the content
to the new server. I'd rather not do this as the DP is on a remote site so all the content will be going over the WAN.
I am running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3.
Any ideas?

Yes, you could prestage content from the old server to the new server. Prestaged content files could be created from Configuration Manager Administrator Console.

Delete existing RecordStore and then open a newer one with same name

I'm working in J2Me for Nokia S40 DP2.0 SDK 1.0.
I want to delete my existing RecordStore (i. e; Products) and then open a new RecordStore as same name(Products) But
There is an Exception thrown that RecordStore is Open;

I would suggest that in addition to printing the stack trace of any Exception, you could append the Exception.toString() to a Form (or display it in an Alert) to see whether any exceptions are being thrown.

New problem with file name while exporting files

Hi all. Whenever I export files from Crystal, it converts the filename from mixed case to lowercase, i.e. Vendors.pdf or Vendors.csv becomes vendors.pdf or vendors.csv. The destination folder has other files of mixed case, it's not a setting on that side. Since this file is data for an upload, it's a problem. Can't find a setting in Crystal. Is there a fix somewhere?

Hi Robin,
When exporting this is by design, most OS's won't allow the same name so it's mostly not an issue. You could write a small application that exports for you then you can rename it to anything you want.

Can't insert new images with different names

I have a picture file (.jpg) called location1.jpg. I rename the file in finder to map-location-1.jpg. Go to iWeb and delete location1.jp and then insert the renamed file map-location-1.jpg. However it still shows up in iWeb as being the original location1.jpg - The files are the same, they've just been renamed. I've deleted the plist file and restarted my iBook and it still uses the old file name.
There must be some kind of cache right?.
All I can do now is go into photoshop and arbitrarily change or modify the image and save it - then it works.
I don't want to do that as I have a few hundred images that I want to rename.

This did my head in for a good few hours. I did not find a nice way to remove everything to re-publish, but if it is just a couple of images you wish to replace (i.e. a banner) I did the following. Delete the old image. Insert a totally different image which you have named the same as what you intend to change to. Then remove this "false image" and insert the actual image you want. When it publishes to a local folder, the WHATEVER_files will contain your correct image named correctly. Let me know how you go.

Automator and applescript to copy new files in a folder with same name as parent folder

I have an iMac with a pictures folder (Finder folder) containing several subfolders with pictures. As per now, all these subfolders are imported into an iPhoto library (and the structure of the Finder pictures folder is thus maintained: The iPhoto events are named the same as the Finder subfolder). I.e. I have not created any albums in iPhoto.
I have also set up a workflow, where new iPhone photos are automatically being synced to specified Finder folders within the iMac pictures folder. So what I want to do is to make a workflow to import potential new photos from week to week into the existing iPhoto structure. I know iPhoto has this Autoimport folder, so this one is unpacked and "mapped". So, this is what I´m hoping to do:
Automator (iCal - want to do this on a weekly basis):
- Get specified Finder items -- set to target folder = iMac pictures folder
- Get folder content (with subfolders)
- Filter Finder items
     - Items from the last 7 days (which then would be any new files created last week)
- Applescript/shell script loop(?)
     - Get folder name for each file´s (from previous step) parent folder
     - Create new folder with same name as the file´s parent folder (if not already existing) under the iPhoto Autoimport folder
     - Copy the given file into the folder from above
- Run iPhoto application (Automator task), which then should just auto import the new photos according to the Finder folder structure
Whith the workflow above, I aim to maintain the existing iPhoto structure, and just import new photos into the existing structure. Creating folder names under the Autoimport, similar as the existing Finder folder names / iPhoto events should make it possible to have the new files imported under the existing event, right?

I have now switched to Aperture (from iPhoto) due to Aperture´s capability to handle Finder folder structure, and due to the possibility of having the pictures within Aperture as referenced files to the pictures within the Finder folders (i.e. possibility to delete pictures from both library and Finder folder at the same time).
So I have a superior Finder folder called "Album". Within "Album" I have several subfolders (sub albums) containing pictures. The "Album" folder with subfolders are imported into Aperture as "Projects and albums", and the pictures are uploaded within the Aperture structure as referenced files. So for now the Aperture structure is more or less a direct mirror of the Finder folder structure, whereas "Album" is the project.
And this is my current workflow in Automator, but I´m searching help with my Applescript:
- Get specified Finder items (target folder = the superior Finder folder "Album")
- Get Folder content
- Filter Finder items (to look for potential new files to import into Aperture)
     - Kind is not folder
     - Date created last X days

SharePoint 2013 unable to create new column with existing column name

I'm currently having a problem in creating my first custom list in my SharePoint site. When I tried to create a new columns with existing name, e. g "date reported" = Date/Time , "Due Date" =
Date/Time
It's prompt the error like this " The page at sharepoint.itechdomain.com says: The Column name that you entered is already in use or reserved. Choose another name." I've read some forum, someone say's they need javascript command
to fixs the problem. If these the solution for my problem, I'm not familiar on how to used javascript in my sharepoint.
Kindly help me how to fixs my problem as soon as possible.

How to instantiate MovieClips with sequence names

Hi all,
I'm rewriting a game that came from AS2, and passing it to
AS3.
The problem is that I have several different MovieClips in
the Library, with a sequence name ("s_0", "s_1,...).
The question is... how can I use the addChild to instantiate
these movieclips, using these names, sequencially, using a FOR
loop?
I'm trying to get a way, that I don't have the remake all
movieclips, or else I'll be stuck on the desk for a week :P

You have to dinamically make new MovieClips, with a name that
can be a dynamic String.
So the result is the following code.

Unable to copy database with different name in the same instance

I had a huge database and wanted to try some change optimization changes.
So wanted to make a copy of the database along with data in the same instance.
I have tried copy database wizard several times but always see the error as in attachment.
Can someone let me know how to troubleshoot further?
If this is not the correct way please suggest how do i copy a database with different name in the same instance along with data.

From the screenshot, the error 1813 happens when corrupt database log is attempted to attach to the SQL Server. To work around this issue, please preform the following steps, for more details, please review this
blog.
1. Create a new database with same name which you want to recover. Make sure that the MDF file and LDF file have same name with previous database data and log file.
2. Stop SQL Server. Move original MDF file from old location to new location by replacing just created MDF file. Delete the LDF file of new location just created.
3. Start SQL Server. At this point, the database is in suspect status.
4. Make sure that system tables of Master database allows to update the values. Please note that you will be performing this in query window.
Use Master

reconfigure with override
go
5. Change database mode to emergency mode.
SELECT *
FROM sysdatabases
WHERE name = 'DatabaseName'

Make sure that you have done all the steps in order and restarted SQL Server where it is mentioned. Also run SQL Server Management Studio as administrator.(Right click-> Run as Administrator)

Srvrmgr syntax: how can I create Named Subsystem with both Name and Description values?

In looking through bookshelf, there is no syntax discussed that allows you to include both the Name value and the Description value for a Named Subsystem/Profile Configuration. In the screenshot, the circled values were created with the server manager command-line.
In contrast, you can create a component definition with a Name (full name) and Description.
For CompDef, this works:
create component definition CompDefTest1_enu for component type AppObjMgr component group Fins run mode Interactive full name "Test Comp Def Test 1" description "Test 1 Object Manager CompDef"
For Named Subsytem, this does NOT work:
create named subsystem Test5 for subsystem EAITransportDataHandlingSubsys full name "Test 5" description 'Test 5 Description'
Can anyone tell me if, for a Named Subsytem, there is a proper syntax to include both the Name and Description values in the command-line, or is the only way to manually create it in the UI?

I have reviewed the help for create command in srvrmgr, it does not give the full name and description as parameters for subsystem creation. However, as you indicated these parameters are available for component definition creation:

In this case I suggest you to create a ticket on My Oracle Support to confirm that srvrmgr does not support creating a new subsystem with full name and description parameters, and request an enhancement request for these parameters to be included in create statement for new subsystems when using srvrmgr.

Relocating objects into new tablespace?

I was looking for an easy way to relocate all objects from one table space to another table space? Is there a utility or any way to have all objects in one table space move to a new tablespace with out have to either move or rebuild each object one at a time.
We have a tablespace that is 50 gig but is only 2% utilized so I am looking to shrink the overall db size by relocating the objects, and the dropping the 50 gig table space.
I am trying to avoid extracting all of the ddl for all of the objects as well as the ddl to rebuild all of the indexes as there are over 200 objects that need relocating?

To relocate the tables into another tablespace you can spool the output of below query and run it.
select 'alter table '||owner||'.'||table_name||' move tablespace new_tbs_name parallel N;' from dba_tables where tablespace_name='XXX';
Note:- N = cpu_count-1
parallel --> to fasten the activity
After its done,
Rebuild the indexes of these tables:-
select 'alter index '||owner||'.'||index_name||' rebuild parallel N;' from dba_indexes where table_name in (select table_name from dba_tables where tablespace_name='XXX');
Then change the degree back:--
select 'alter table '||owner||'.'||table_name||' parallel (degree 1);' from dba_tables where degree > 1;
select 'alter index '||owner||'.'||index_name||' parallel (degree 1);' from dba_indexes where degree > 1;
If on 10g
select 'alter table '||owner||'.'||table_name||' parallel (degree 1);' from dba_tables where degree > '1';

Agent install with replacement machine with same name

we replace old workstations with new ones with same name, SCCM does not update, it still shows the machine with an active agent, but it never gets installed on the new machine. what do I need to do to get the agent on the new machines?

If you are trying to use autimatic client push it will not install the client that scenario as the computername is already active in SCCM. You could use a startup script in a GPO to always make sure that the client is installed on all computers, Jason Sandys
has written a great one, you can find it here..

In the scenario above you also risk getting a duplicate in SCCM as the new computer with the old name has new hardware.

How do I sync a playlist with no name to iTunes?

I created a playlist on the iPad itself and when the window came up to enter a name for the playlist, I hit down without typing anything. When I synced my iPad to iTunes, the unnamed playlist did not show up. Is there a way to rename this playlist or somehow get it to iTunes, or copy its content into a new playlist with a name?

How to fix AppleEvent handler failed error with command "make new mailbox with properties"

Below is the script I am running to create a hiearchy of new mailboxes inside "ON MY MAC" folder area.

When I execute this the first mailbox is excuted fine but right afterwards I get the following error:
error "Mail got an error: AppleEvent handler failed." number -10000
I have tried adding delays but this does not work either. Code:

However rerunning the script and skipping over the make command if the folder already exit, causes the next exuction time to create one more folder.

The processors are different archiectures and you can not use binaries from one architecture to work on the other.
Library name suffix differences is an example of the importance of this. Tuxedo 6.5 was separately built for each of those architectures and
is available on the PeopleSoft distribution as distinct binaries. If your migration was purely from HPUX11.11 to HPUX11.23 you might have
succeeded but the processor difference will not work for you and a core dump would not be unexpected.

Tuxedo 6.5 is end-of-lifed and, since it's EOL has passed the stage for extended support possibility, no new patches will
be created for it by engineering. You should look to migrate to a newer version of Tuxedo/Peoplesoft at the earliest
possiblity.
