EMac restarts on wake from sleep

Question

Lately my eMac has begun to restart when I wake it from sleep. Everything works just fine afterward, but this makes me afraid something worse is coming. Has anyone heard of this problem? Any thoughts? TIA

The computer may respond correctly after a reset of the +power management unit...+
In the eMac computer, the PMU reset button is located in the compartment next to the
Battery and the RAM memory slots, as indicated in the article/link which follows:

While there, if the battery itself has not been replaced in several years, it could be due.
Note the instruction to not press PMU more than once, it will discharge the battery.
If you still have the original software install-restore disc set, note the Apple Hardware
Test on an included disc, and a method usually on the label on how to start from it.
The AHT can be run in a looping or extended mode, to check for hardware issues.
There also may be some Console (utility) logs and messages from about the time
you notice this behavior in the computer; so look into them by Time/Day. These
are rather cryptic in nature, but may tell a tale of what could cause the restart.
The booted version of your OS from its install disc has a Disk Utility there, and it
may be used to check or verify the computer's hard disk drive; the drive could be
on its way out, due to age and wear. So this could be another angle to check into.
