Emac, tinted screen

I wonder if someone could help me with a question, run a network with several emac units - the older CRT style ones. Some of these has recently been repaired. They had the logic board replaced and apparantly one also required a replacement analogue board. They all went back in with no apparant problems and they had our standard image restored to them using netboot.
This week i have noticed the one that had the analogue board replaced as well as its logic board has a kind of cyan coloured tint to the screen. This is all the time, during boot, in openfirmware, in the OS (10.3.9) so im assuming its not software related though i may be wrong, i have looked at display settings which seem fine. Sadly nobody can be sure if the problem was there when the mac came back from repair. even me when i netbooted :-s
what i want to know is has anyone seen anything like this before? i want to make sure i try everything before i go accusing repair people of breaking it. Any help would be great. Many thanks

psigley,
Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
It's certainly possible that the replacement CRT/analog assembly is itself going out of alignment, or it may simply be that the replacement board wasn't calibrated properly for your geographic area (the difference between northern and souther hemisphere in the earth's magnetic field actually can affect CRT displays). Have you checked the tinted eMac's System Preferences -> Displays -> Color Sync settings? Try different built-in profiles, and if that doesn't resolve the problem, use the Advanced button to create a custom profile and see if you can tweak the tint back to normal.

  • Apple Yellow Tint Screen

    Hi,
I know that this problem been discussed previously here, I bought my iphone from the UK and been using it for a few months and it was perfectly fine. Now I buy a new iphone in Dubai and the screen is yellow tinted!
I am really unsatisfied with the yellow tinted screen. The question I want to ask is, am I entitled to get a new iphone? I went back to the store exactly two hours after I bought it and they refused to replace it for me, claiming that this is Apple Policy
    Thanks,
    Alzaabi

    Hi,
Apple has a warranty that can provide fixtures for any products that are defective and not created by the user through accidental damage.
Technicians use discretion to direct the result of your question with an answer based on the warranty of Apple.
You can always take it to other places such as Consult Mac Dubai, they are the leading in Apple service for Dubai.

  • Brand new, white Verizon iPhone4, has a yellow tinted screen.

I just bought a brand new Verizon (white) iPhone and noticed the color of the screen had a warmer (yellowish) tint to it, comparing it my iPod4 which has a cooler (bluish) tint. I then compared it to a friend's AT&T iPhone4 and noticed he had the cooler  tint to it as well. We both had the brightness turned all the way up.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I really like the bluish look a lot more because the whites look more like whites.
I'm wondering if maybe my iPhone was color calibrated incorrectly or if this was done intentionally.

    Hi
How did it go with Apple customer care? Just wondering because I exchanged my white Verizon iPhone and I see it exactly the same yellowish tint on the screen and compared it to all the black iPhones they had at the store, so I'm just wondering if Apple care was able to do anything??
    Thanks
I haven't called Apple's customer care service but instead brought my iPhone into an official Apple retail store. The employee has never been approached about the yellow tint yet, and assured me there was nothing wrong with it. He also couldn't give me an answer I was looking for either; if it was Apple's intention or not. He himself had a brand new Verizon white iPhone and we compared ours and they both looked the same. I showed him my friends AT&T black iPhone and set it next to mine but he really didn't notice the difference. My friend also had a protective screen over it and the employee said maybe the blue tint I was seeing was from the plastic (which I know is not the cause).
I brought it to Verizon's store and the employee there said he didn't see any real problem with it and since Apple didn't send them a notice about a recall on their iPhone's, there was nothing they could do about it.
So I thought, this is must be what they are doing for all their new iPhone's. Every new one I see, it's tinted yellow. Although when I was in the Apple store and compared it to one of the new iPad2's displays, the iPad had a blue tinted screen.
The mystery over the yellow screen continues!
[However, I've been getting used to the yellow screen and I don't even notice it anymore.]

  • Yellow Tinted Screen?

I just got my Mini, hooked up a ViewSonic VA720 LCD to it, and the screen has a yellow tint to it. I can't get rid of it after calibrating the display. When I connect the display to my other non-Mac computers, it displays in normal color, without the tint. Any ideas? I am using the DVI to VGA connector that came with the Mini. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Tim! When I go to the Apple Store, I'm assuming I should bring the CPU and the adapter...I've tried a few times, plugging things in in different order, and nothing seems to be working. There is also some horizontal 'streakiness', especially after things on the screen that contrast sharply, going from left to right. Hopefully an Apple Genius can get 'er working right soon.

  • Yellow tint screen on my iphone5

would it be possible to claim a new set because my screen is yellow tinted

A yellow tint on a new device's screen is not unexpected; this would be due to the adhesive used within the device. This tint should fade within 1 - 2 weeks.

  • How to restore the blue-ish tinted screen instead of the yellow-ish effect?

Is there an application or a fix to restore the color of the screen? I switch from the 1st generation iPhone to the new 3G iPhone but the Mc Donald look is absolutely horrible. Any clue to fix this ourselves as Apple does not seem to will correcting it?

Yes, no fix but remember that when people answer you they might think that you have the tint that comes with a normaly calibrated iPhone 3G. There are better and worse versions out there. I had three various iPhone 3G with same firmware, and two of them were so yellow I had to Change them. Now its normal, slightly warm but with white whites. I wrote about this earlier but my topic was canceled. Good Luck!

  • Why some ipad 2 have yellow tinted screen? Can Apple give us an explanation?

    It's so obvious.
Every ipad2 showed to us in the stores has cool screen.
Yet what we got have warm ones with yellow tint.
This also happens on iphone 4 and 4s.
Is it quality issues or something else.
    Apple owe us an explanation.

Seeing as how Apple will have to answer your question, instead of posting it here on the user to user forum you really should post on it on the Apple feedback site,

  • Does anyone else have a yellow tinted screen on there ip4

I bought the iphone 4 3 weeks ago i had it switched out 3 times and my screen still has a yellowish tint to it compared to everyone else i know that has an iphone theres is clear and bright white. Anyone else having this issue?

When you say turn on the phone, do you mean just unlocking the phone to get to your home screen ( icons)?

  • Who has a yellow tinted screen?

Finally was able to get my sister a replacement, and the first thing I even noticed without hearing or reading of the issue was the retina display seemed kinda yellowish. So I looked it up and compared, and the phone has a yellow tint on the entire screen. I can only take pics using an iPhone 3G so it would look fuzzy though.

    How is your phone?
Also, the battery is already half gone and its had 2 hours usage. of Facebook, and some twitter. WIFI OFF too. 3G on
My screen is just fine. I don't see any yellow tinted on it.
I find that the battery lasts longer when connected to wi-fi then using just 3G. If I were to use just 3G, I'd probably get around where you are, as in 2 hours -3 hours of usage.

  • Not Liking The Yellow Tinted Screen

I'm kind of disappointed that Apple decided to put a cheaper screen in the new phones. Hopefully I'm wrong and that it's not a screen and can be fixed through an update or something, or I can return this phone in a month or so and they'll have the newer shipment of phones with old iPhone lighting on the screens. I'm currently doing a restore on my phone to see if it fixes the lighting at all, because I read somewhere that a restore makes it less yellow tint-ish. Also not liking the 1 bar I'm getting at my house with 3G on, not cool.
Now I got a question. I don't know much about MobileMe but I don't have it. I also don't know anything about Push and if it has anything to do with MobileMe. I have 2 Gmail accounts loaded on my iPhone, should I keep Push on? And does it have any effect on battery usage with it on?

    This is the partial breakdown:
    1st Gen iPhone had a white point of 8300K;
iPhone 3G has white point between 6800K - 7300K by design, intentional.
Native white point for a Mac monitor is 6500K (D65)
Mac monitors are usually at Gamma 1.8 (subtly blu-ish IMO), and PC monitors are at Gamma 2.2 (slightly fluorescent yellowish)
What is the Gamma of the screen of the 3G iPhone?
Because if a future adjustment is available to screen settings of 3G iPhone, then I would try to set it to 6500K and a Gamma of 1.8 to most nearly emulate a Mac monitor.
So I wonder if Apple changed to a yellowish 2.2 Gamma, to slightly cater to the larger PC user base , who is used to seeing screens at Gamma 2.2, with its inherent yellowness?
Either way, I don't think I'll have a problem with new screen, cuz I got an idea of why it was chosen.

  • Yellow Tinted Screen on iPhone 4 CDMA

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 and i got it switched out at my local apple store because of a faulty home button. They gave me a replacement, but it had a yellowish tint and clearish (scan/interlacing) lines going horizontally across the screen. Of course, I took it back and the guy didn't notice the problem but he said since i was not happy with it he would switch it out. When i got home i realized the phone they gave me had the same problem but with a more yellowish tint to the screen! The lines aren't that bad but i want what i paid for in the first place. Has anyone else had this Problem? Did you get a new fixed one? What did you do?
P.S. I'm not talking about the yellow blotches from the glue the whole screen is yellowish.

I have been through this for months now with iPhone4 (non-CDMA). My first unit didn't have the problem (that I remember) but it suffered an early demise. Second unit had it and I noticed it the first day. It is a transient horizontal interlace pattern, it comes and goes. It's a lot like fine scanlines on a CRT, not sure how iPhone 4 screen manages that. As others have said it's most noticeable on blue or grey bars/buttons - the camera button on the home screen shows it well. Tilting the screen side to side shows it more clearly.
I've been through several replacement units now (up to #4!) and in the end had to actually photograph the issue to show Apple what I was talking about. Apple have been very supportive, 4 replacement units is amazing service, but there's clearly a real issue somewhere.
I'm really not sure how to get to the bottom of it, it's not something such an expensive phone should be doing!
