Emac will not turn on (lights flash)

eMac G4 1.25ghz 512 mb of ram   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Hi patty b,
A couple of questions to clarify where you stand....
1. I notice that by your computer specs in your topic that you are running 10.0.x Is this correct? It just struck me as odd that an eMac 1.25 Ghz G4 would have 10.0.x installed and not at least 10.2. Jaguar. This can matter when troubleshooting your problem.
2. By your topic it sounds as if you experienced a Kernel Panic when "it said to shut off". When you tried to turn it back on you say that the "littel white light just flashed". Can you clarify? I assume you are referring to the power light on the front of the eMac? Would you say the the light is flashing or pulsing? I ask this as a pulsing light is indicative of the computer sleeping. You topic sounds more as if the light is rapidly flashing?
3. Can you let us know if you had (near the time of this occurence) changed anything in regards to your computer or system software? As well as you can remember can you remember what you were doing with the computer at the time? Such as having multiple/many applications open at one time.
All this info will build a better picture of the state of your computer then/now to help better troubleshoot.
best,

  • 4gen 20g will not turn on, light up, or connect

I recently bought a 4gen 20g iPod and today it was working fine. I took it with me a few places, and was listning to music. I got home, set it on my counter, and now it will not turn on, light up, or connect to a computer. It seems to be 100% dead. I have pushed all the buttons (the reset commands, menu buttons, etc.) my "lock" is not enabled, and the battery was half-way charged (although i have tried to turn it on while plugged in as well). Anyone got any ideas? tomarrow I leave for mexico at 4:30am PST and I'm going to be ****** if my iPod is broken.

    Try these.
    iPod won't turn on.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize the iPod is connected.
iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
When restoring the iPod, it's often useful to put it into disk mode first.

  • Mac Pro will not boot, power light flashes once and then Mac switches off

One of our Mac Pro's will not boot. When pressing the power button the light will come on briefly and the Mac will just turn off again.
I have unplugged the power cable and held down the power button for 10 seconds but this did not help.
Any suggestions for me before I call up Apple?

Most indications from flashing power lights are telling you that there is not enough working memory to start up.

  • 8700 will not start, red light flashes and hourglass comes on and off

I have an 8700g Blackberry phone and I mistakenly downloaded an application that is only supported by software version 4.0 or greater. ( my phone had software version 2.2? ) . I had to replace the battery today and when I put in the new battery, it tried to start up but the red light comes on and the hourglass flashes on and off but after two hours it will still not start up. What should I do?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Hmmm...that sounds very bad. But, let's try some things anyway...a total wipe and reload, using one of the following utilities:

  • Emac will not turn off

Ok so i turned off my emac right befor school and when i came back it was on sleep mode and not turned off just showing the "blue screen with black wheel spinning"? why?

    hi there --
i would pull the /library/preferences/systemconfiguration folder but you will have to reconfigure your settings. i would also do a pmu reset. a diagram should be in your user guide. it is a silver button located beside the battery. make sure computer is completely off and unplug peripherals and the power cord from the back of the machine where it enters the power supply. you will have to lay the computer on something soft on its face and then take off back access panel. then you will have to ground yourself on some metal and then press the button counting "one one thousand" and let go. do not press it twice.

  • EMac will not turn on after downloading updates

    Hey everyone,
Yesterday my wife downloaded some updates for her eMac and now we can't get it to turn on. I've checked the power supply and it is there. When we push the power button it sounds like the monitor is trying to turn on but nothing else happens. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time

    mtntrekker30,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I'd suggest trying a double approach as one operation: reset the power supply and reset OpenFirmware and NVRAM. To do this, with the computer off, unplug everything except the Apple keyboard and mouse, including pulling the power cord from the side of the eMac. This removes the trickle current drawn by modern electronics even when nominally off. Wait 15+ minutes, then reattach the power cord only.
Next, press the power button, then hold down the command-option-o-f keys until you see the message "Welcome to Open Firmware" (black text on a white screen with a command line prompt at the bottom). Type in the following commands and press return after each (case sensitive, no spaces):
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
The Mac should restart after reset-all (if it doesn't, type mac-boot and press Return)
Reesetting NVRAM can be thought of as a superset of resetting PRAM; you may need to change some of your settings in System Preferences afterwards (refer to Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM?)
Be aware that if this works, the startup will take significantly longer than usual at the white screen/Apple logo/spinning wheel stage. Part of this will be due to the updates, most will be due to the system running a silent version of Disk Utility's Repair Disk function before continuing to the OS X startup screen. Give it plenty of time.

  • My hpg61 429wm, will not turn on. it flashes 3 times.

I cant get my laptop to turn on. Help

    Hi,
    Try the following.
With reference to the link below, remove one of your memory modules and then see if the notebook will boot.  If it doesn't, try the same module, but in the other slot.  If is still doesn't boot, try the other memory module in both slots, to see if any combination will allow the notebook to start.
The procedure for removing these modules is detailed starting on Page 56 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

  • Light on iphone4 flash will not turn off even when phone is powered down, now it is overheated and says not usable till cooled, but it won't cool.  I'm afraid it will start a fire.

light on iphone4 flash will not turn off even when phone is powered down, now it is overheated and says not usable till cooled, but it won't cool.  I'm afraid it will start a fire.  Aside from breaking it, putting in in a metal pail in the yard, or putting it in a bucket of water, what can be done to keep it from setting a fire.  It is so hot it burns my skin if i touch it, so bright, it hurts to look at, so hot there is now a warning that it is not usable till it cools down, but there is no way to cool it down.

more info, this happened after update to 7.0.2, and also wifi will no longer turn on since update.  I took it in to apple store, it had one month left on warrenty, and they said that it would have had to get wet for this to happen.  I thought that maybe it got wet through my jeans pocket in the rain or something so I didn't pursue it.  Now of course, it is out of warranty by a month.

There is a hardware problem.  Whether it's worth it to you to have no working phone for 2 months until you can update vs paying for replacement/repair now is a question only you can answer.

  • My iPhone 3gs will not turn on, charge, or allow me to perform a hard reset. iTunes nor my computer recognizes it andthe screen wont light up at all. What can I do to fix this?

I have an iPhone 3gs that is out of warranty. I purchased this phone from AT&T. Last night my phoone went completely dead (battery percentage was at 96% just moments before) and now will not turn back on. I have tried just about everything I have found on discussion boards- trying hard reset, plugging into itunes, charging for15-20 mins then holding down sleep and homebuton..... NOTHING works. This phone will not light up AT ALL. My computer wont even recognize it. Is there anything else I can do?

Make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • HT1430 My 4th Gen iPod touch will not turn, doesnt charge, and i can't reset in computer because it says it is protected by a passcode, but i cant enter pass code because the screen stays black and won't even light up... What do I do

My 4th gen iPod Touch has had a blank screen for about 3-4 weeks now, it will not turn on, sync, or charge. iTunes recognizes its plugged up, but i cant reset it because it says its passcode protected, but i cant enter passcode due to screen not lighting up or working. How do i fix this?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
