EMac won't allow resolution to be changed

On several classroom eMacs we cannot open iMovie because the computer will not allow us to change the resolution. I know what I'm doing regarding how to change the resolution under the Administrator settings login. Is this a known bug? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you're logged on as administrator you should certainly be able to change the resolution. Try gragging Library/ preferences/ com.apple.windowserver.plist to the desktop and restarting, then see if you can change the settings.

Why have colors change in new update? And won't allow me to permanently change back - as they revert on their own?

My iCal calendar colors changed by themself. I have gone to "edit" and "get info" and have changed the colors back. Within minutes, they change back to the wrong color. It has now made these same changes on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini. What's going on? How do I permanently change these colors?

The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'installation test' but essentially I'd like to impart two thoughts.
In addition to the eMac (the hardware) you will also need the Mac OS on CD/DVD (the software)
It is not enough that the only instance of the OS is on the hard drive, for when difficulty strikes you'll need to apply software operations on it, which are enabled by the OS on the CD/DVD.
If you have this disk, then it is best to reinstall a new copy of the OS onto the eMac to give a fresh start to you, the new owner. The initialisation setup will create your email address and account name and password according to how you want it, instead of carrying over from someone else's setup from the past.
So; 1) contact the school to get the OS disk if possible, and
2) use it to install a fresh copy of the OS onto the eMac.

Illustrator CS3 Won't Allow Text Fill Color Changes

Hi All,
I have a copy of Illustrator CS3 and this weekend I was working on a new logo design. For some reason, Illustrator would not accept changes to the text fill color. It was stuck on black. I am stuck after searching for solutions online and working with the Appearance panel.
Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a fix?

Try changing the fill using the Appearance panel. With the Appearance panel you can stack fills and strokes, which often results in the text fill (available when text is highlighted) hidden behind a higher object.level fill.

WRT54G router won't allow me to save changes.

I want to change my wireless security settings from WPA Personal to WEP. However, as soon as I click to save the changes it gives me an error on page message. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

App store keeps asking for old owner's password when I try to download updates, even though I am logged into my Apple account. It won't allow me to change ID to mine.

It won't allow me to change ID to mine, even though I am signed into store with my own account (and this is shown in dropdown menu). How can I make the store recognize my ID for downloads?

It is showing updates because your machine is tied to the original purchase and will remain so until you wipe the drive.
As you purchased it used and the seller obviously did not do what he was supposed to do and that is erase the hard drive and reinstall the original system, you will run in to far more difficult problems when you need to reinstall for whatever reason. The new licensing requirements are that any mac is sold with the original OS - any OS or app obtained at the app store is NOT transferable and the buyer needs to purchase their own license. That means you will not be able to reinstall the OS.
At some point, you will need to try to get either the original install disks (from the seller or Apple) and wipe your drive and reinstall. Then you can download your own licensed copy of Mavericks and any apps you want.

They have gone now and I am attempting to either change the password or delete the user. It won't allow me to choose the user I created. I am logged in as myself and it states that I am an "Admin". The user I'm attempting to change is listed as a "standard" user and there is a white checkmark inside an orange circular background on the user pic in the list of users.
Can someone help me? I am having a hard time believing that OSx will allow me to create users and allow them use of my computer and it's drives, yet it will not allow me to change the password so I can monitor what they might have been doing while logged on? What if this were my child? This guest left under sketchy circumstances, and I'd really like to be able to ensure they were not using my computer to do illegal things or to have illegal communications.
Any help would be appreciated. (It's odd that it was so simple to "create" a user and set a password for them.......but it's complicated or a little known process to reverse.

Dreamweaver CS6: Installation disk won't allow a change in the location of the installation folder

First, I hope the moderators will cut me some slack for making a duplicate posting. The comments below were posted in the "Creative Suites" community. I just noticed that there is a "Dreamweaver" community. I feel the issues I've raised below are more relevant to the latter.
I recently purchased a Dreamweaver CS6 installation disk and have a valid registration code. The Adobe website has recognized this code as valid.
I started-out by having the installation disk install into a folder on a high capacity (0.5 tb) external drive. This was done while my Gateway PC was still working properly. I did a duplicate installation onto this hard drive (into a separate folder) to accommodate any work I wanted to do on a Dell laptop I also own. For a few days things seemed to work ok on both computers. Then the cursor on my Gateway stopped moving. Several changes of mice failed to resolve the problem. I've written-off my Gateway as "dead." However the Dreamweaver CS6 installation MAY (I can't remember) be on a "local" folder on my Gateway and I am concerned I will have trouble installing Dreamweaver on the replacement I've purchased. I understand one is limited to 2 installations. If needed, can I purchase a license for a third installation? And what might that cost?
After turning-off my Gateway I then went to my Dell laptop to try to work with Dreamweaver there. I felt it was best to install on a "local" folder so I deleted all the Dreamweaver software from the folders on my external drive. Unfortunately the installation disk is still "pointed" to the folders on my external drive. To make matters worse I am now getting an error message which indicates I need to install into a folder on the "local" drive of my Dell laptop. But the installation disk won't allow me to change the path. On the installation disk the "path" to my external drive is faded-out and it will not allow me to delete and type-in a new path.
I've spent what, to me, are big bucks on this Dreamweaver disk. It's the only website building software that seemed to get consistently good reviews. However, for me, Dreamweaver is becoming a nightmare! I'm very much of a novice at website building. I don't know how, in the world, I will be able to a) Create something, and then b) Get Dreamweaver to put it onto what is now a blank webpage. I recently got "Dreamweaver CS6 The Missing Manual" and "Dreamweaver CS6 For Dummies." So far I haven't been able to find anything, in either of these two books, which addresses the issues I've raised here.

Have you tried calling Adobe Customer service? They can deactivate one of your installations so that you can install and run on a new system. And perhaps they can help with your other problem, or send you to a tech support rep who can.
With regard to your use of DW, I'd strongly suggest that you take advantage of this downtime by learning as much HTML and CSS as you can absorb. Multiple sittings would be helpful. The more you know about those two, the easier DW will be for you when you eventually get it going.

Cannot download ICloud to Windows 7 - receive admistrator won't allow change. I am the administrator!

I am having trouble installing ICloud on my desktop running Windows 7. An error pops saying that the Administrator has set policies that won't allow this change. Since I am the administrator, I am perplexed. Any ideas?

Check the group policy settings, you are the Administrator so you have priveleges.

If the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
