EMac wont fully boot from HD and wont allow boot from CD/DVD
I got a eMac the other day knowing something was wrong with it but figured it was probably a Open Firmware issue. I cant get the thing to boot all the way from the HD, it will give the loading screen with the blue bar going accorss then go to a solid blue screen and sit. If I try to boot with option it will ask for a password and has a lock on the boot screen. I tried to reset the PRAM with Option Command P & R and it still just boots to the main HD but stalls like without pressing anything. Im just trying to start from scratch with this computer(No passwords and a fresh install of OSX).
OK, I got the Open Firmware off of it, so it boots from the CD now. Problem is that now it wont install OSX. I have TIger and Panther and have tried both. With Tiger it will boot fine and lets me start the install process and then about 15% into the intall it quits with errors and cant install. With Panther it just wont boot from the CD at all it gives me a circle with line diaganal line through it. Maybe the battery is bad ill check that tonight. Other than that I cant think of what else it could be other than bad ram maybe. Ill change that too and rule that out as well.

I'm trying to boot my G4 AGP (combo drive) from a OSX install DVD and it wont reconise it. It shows up and checks out ok when i'm booted into Tiger. But when i go to boot off the DVD it wont, it does however boot fine off CD's.
When I hold down the option key during boot it doesnt display the DVD, but if i put a CD in instead it shows up fine.
I have tried another Superdrive and it still did the same thing.
I've tried booting off the DVD on a Macbook Pro and an iBook and it worked fine, so the DVD is bootable.

What happens when you change your address in your iTunes account? You also have to have a payment method associated with the USA, For example gift cards are restricted to the country of their purchase.

IBook and eMac wont play nice!
I have an iBook dual usb and an eMac with Nvidia Graphics and they wont file share like they used to. I want my iBook to talk to my eMac so I can pull files off of its hard drive.(This is because the iBook only has a 10 gb HD.) I also reformat my iBook's Hard Drive quite often sadly. so all of my backups are on my eMac. The real problem is that my iBook's Finder fails to recognize that it is an admin and only lists the "/user/clay" directory. The reason I know it is finder is because right now I have to use cyberduck to get all of the files off of my eMac. Cyberduck initally only shows me the "/user/clay" folder but it has the option to go up one folder and can connect to the "/" folder correctly. If anyone can help that would be awesome.

Log into the eMac with the eMac's Admin User's name and Password, not the iBooks Username & PW.

Power mac g5 wont boot from install dvd
i have a g5 power mac i had to replace the hard drive when i try to boot from the disc it freezes on the gray screen with the apple im use the retail dvd for the ppc can anyone help
Hello! You may not be waiting long enough if there's been a new drive installed as the OS on the dvd will be looking at the new drive to see if it's been formatted. It may take 10-15 minutes or longer to fully boot from the install disc. Tom

Stuck at 70% wont fully boot up
Hello everyone, I am currently having an issue with my blackberry not fully booting up. I have read through multiple outdated threads, which refer to a re installation of the OS . I do not get any kind of error or white screen when booting up. My phone starts to booth up as if i did a normal battery pull and just stops at about 75%. I left it for about an 1 hour and nothing, removed the sd card, sim card and nothing. I recall whatsapp being the last app that I downloaded. I really don't want to reinstall the OS as I have not done a backup for quite so time( I know its my fault =[ ). I really hope there is something that can be done to get my phone up and running again.

Hello, I bought my MacBook Pro in June 2011 and I never upgrade to OS X Lion, but I just upgraded to Mountain Lion today, and well now my laptop won't even fully boot up. When I power my laptop on, it shows the Apple logo, and the spinny loading icon and it some times makes it to the login screen, when it then says that my computer had a problem and needs to restart, then it restarts and does the same thing over again. Sometimes it doesn't even make it to the login screen.

In the meantime, try booting into safe mode. Restart holding down the SHIFT key and see if the KPs continue. If so, then it's most likely a hardware issue and a trip to an Apple repair station might be your only option. If no KP, then, most likely a software issue. Check /Library/Logs/PanicReporter/ for KP reports and post the last one. -
My eMac wont start, how can I get all my stuff on the harddrive?

After I tried to install the 10.4 update, my eMac wont start up. So is it possible to boot up with another mac, and copy all my stuff to an external harddrive?
Or do I need to fix it in some other way? I just want all my data on the internal harddrivG'day,

Bit hard to tell from this... but if you're happy to toss the eMac in the trash... after getting the HDD contents... there's 2 possibilities:
1) Press the power button, and then press and hold the "t" key. Hopefully the eMac will boot into target disk mode - blue screen with a yellow firewire icon. If this works, then you can just go buy a 6pin to 6pin firewire cable, in order to connect the eMac to another Mac via the firewire port. The eMac's hard drive will appear on the other Mac, and you can copy the data off.
IF this doesn't work... ie the computer wont start up at all... no power...
2) Search google and find the "take apart" or technical manual for your model eMac, and disassemble it to the point you can remove the hard drive physically. Then put it into an external case and get the data off that way...
UNLESS of course, it's the hard drive that's dead...

The earliest eMacs had a problem with an internal video connector that caused video problems but yours is not of that generation. However, some 1.0G and 1.25G machines suffered from logic board problems caused by bad capacitors. Apple had a repair extension program for about three years but it has now expired.
If you have the capacitor problem, you can usually see it by looking through the RAM door at the cylindrical components on the logic boards.Iif their top looks bulged and/or there is brown goo leaking from them, you have a problem. Someone kindly posted this image:

If you do not see any nasty-looking capacitors, you may wish to get the video adaptor in the Apple article I posted and try an external monitor. That would at least give you the opportunity to retrieve files.
If your eMac has a logic board problem, it's probably not cost-effective to get it replaced unless you can find a third-party service facility offering a flat-rate exchange that costs less than a used eMac. -
My iphone 4S wont allow me to restore a bckup of icloud it has just rebooted the os and for over 24 hours i have been trying to fix it i use this phone for my job so i need help. when i try to restore it says "Your iphone could not be activated becuase the activation server is unavailable, If the problom presests goto apple.com/support" It has done this for 27 hours now PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
- Connect the iPod to the computer and see if iTunes sees it. If it sees it try to get the photos off the iPod.
- Next let the battery fully drain. It will likely take days. After charging for at least an hour try again

When i connect my iPhone to iTunes, it says i have to set up my iPhone, and wont allow me to sync any media i have already purchased on it. My phone is not new, so I dont understand? This all came about when i updated the iOS 6 software. I have tried to re-set up my phone but it makes no difference and deletes everything off my phone.

This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone. -
My Ipod touch wont allow me to get into itunes. So I downloaded some apps through istore onto the itunes on my computer, yet it still wont allow me to sync them to my ipod. It doesnt even give me the option to do so. The only things syncing to my ipod are music and pictures. Can anyone please help me??
You need to restore the iPod on the new computer. You can only sync apps (and some other stuff) from different computers/libraries but you can manage music and some other stuff among different computers/libraries.

I am trying to save a doc. to a external hard drive and it wont allow me. I says its read only, any ideas on how to correct it?
Save it on the internal HD then copy it from this safe location to the external device.
iWork applications can't apply their save process on devices which aren't formatted as HFS+.
But it may also be that for some reason, an external device formatted as HFS+ is set to Read Only.
If it's this case, you will have to change de setting before moving the file on it.

I had iTunes installed onto my external hard drive and was having problems with diff things so decided to uninstall itunes and then install it onto my main hard drive. When I attempted this it told me that iTuneshelper.resources was not a valid short file name. After researching it I manually deleted all files that I could find relating to iTunes, Quicktime, iPod etc... at that time it will would not allow me to uninstall or reinstall. I furthered researched and found the file to be located in the startup in msconfig and unchecked it hoping that it would then allow me to uninstall or at least reinstall the program, but again failed. What else can I do? When it makes it to the install portion it says what drive it will be downloaded to and it says (I:) so I attempted to change it, but it has an error and wont allow me to change it to C: so does anyone know what I have to do to fix this thank you

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.) -
