Email accounts not synching between MBP

Long time iPad user...new MBP user. I use Gmail and iCloud for my email. I have no issues with my iPad sending/receiving emails but my MBP is sometimes not showing an email I know was sent in either the Drafts or Sent folder, so I don't know if it was sent (unless I send another email asking if it was received) and the accounts aren't syncing. For example, I have a message showing in my Inbox on my iPad but there are none in the Inbox of my MBP.
I have hit Send/Receive many times...synced accounts several times and re-started email and the laptop itself.
Any ideas?

Who's your mail provider?  Is it a POP account?

You need to have a different Apple ID for each of the other devices.

dates are correct, iCloud is on for those applications. etc.

Your profile shows that you are running OS X 10.6.7.  If that's true, you will need to update a iCloud requires OS X 10.7.5 or later.  If you are running a more recent version of OS X and your data still isn't syncing, check to be sure of the following:
That your Mac and iOS devices are signed into the same iCloud account and have Calendars and Contacts turned on in Settings (System Preferences)>iCloud.
That you have selected iCloud as your Default Account for contacts in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars on your iOS devices and in Contacts (Address Book)>Preferences>General on your Macs.

  • IBooks Library not synching between iPad & Macbook Pro

I've loaded PDFs into my iPad and Macbook Pro ibook libraries, but they are not synching between the devices. All synching has been turned on in preferences on my Mac, iTunes and iPad. Any suggestions as to how to get both devices listing same ibook library contents?

  • How do you stop Notes on an iPhone 4S disappearing and ending up in your Yahoo email account Notes?

I have been doubting my sanity! Items held in Notes seem to disappear at random. I have established from the ASC that missing Notes are sometimes moved to the Notes folder of your Yahoo email account and much to my relief I have found them there. Is it possible to stop this happening? If so how do you do it? I cannot see anything in Settings/Notes and when I turn off Notes in Settings/Mail all my Notes disappear!

MobileMe works fine for me but you don't need a MobileMe account. You need an IMAP account.
Although a POP account can be accessed with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. You can't store Sent messages on the server, keep mailboxes synchronized between multiple email clients used to access the account, more than one email client cannot access the incoming mail server for a POP account at the same time or near the same time because the incoming mail server will lock the account's inbox mailbox preventing access for a period of time.
None of this is an issue or problem with an IMAP account which is designed to be accessed with multiple email clients. I keep the Mail.app on my Mac launched and running checking my MM account which has a junk mail filter. Any received message that is automatically marked as junk and is moved to the account's Junk mailbox stored on the server is reflected automatically when checking the account with the iPhone's Mail client since all server stored mailboxes for the account are kept synchronized, which isn't possible with a POP account.

  • When I send messages people are receiving them from my email account not my phone number

When I send an iMessage, people are receiving the message from my email that is attached to my apple account, not my phone number like usual. It will occasionally not allow me to send an iMessage either and will force me to send as SMS. Any ideas on how this can be fixed? In my settings it says all new conversations are started with my phone number, but it still doesn't change any ongoing conversations.

    Hi ATrunner,
Welcome to the Support Communities!   Just so that I can understand your question .... Are you saying that new messages that you send are working correctly with your phone number?  It is just the ongoing conversations that are displaying the email?   If so, I would suggest starting fresh conversations to those contacts. The article below provides troubleshooting steps for the most common issues with Messages:
iOS: Troubleshooting Messages - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS2755
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
Learn how to resolve issues with the Messages app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You'll learn what you need to send messages using SMS, MMS, and iMessage as well as how to resolve issues with each method.
Before you start troubleshooting, learn the difference between SMS, MMS, and iMessage. The first step to resolving an issue with iMessage is to update your iOS software and your carrier settings to the latest versions. If iMessage still has an issue, follow the steps below for your issue.
If you can't activate iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID
See how to troubleshoot iMessage activation. If you're using a China Telecom or au (KDDI) iPhone, you can activate iMessage only on your home network. While traveling internationally, you can't activate iMessage.
If you can't send and receive iMessages
You will need these to send and receive iMessages:
An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    iOS 5.0 or later
A cellular data connection or a Wi-Fi connection
A phone number or Apple ID registered with iMessage in Settings > Messages
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.
If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on each iOS device and make sure that you signed in with your Apple ID. You must use the same Apple ID on each device.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and make sure that you selected each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage.
If you linked a phone number to your Apple ID with iMessage and the phone number hasn't appeared, follow these steps.
Sign out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and Settings > FaceTime on all devices.
If you're linking a phone number to an Apple ID, sign in to iMessage on your iPhone first. Then sign in to the rest of your device one by one with iMessage and FaceTime.
If your iMessages didn't transmit as SMS when iMessage was unavailable for use
Go to Settings > Messages > Send as SMS and turn on Send as SMS.
Select your phone number when Sending iMessages in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start New Conversations From.
Make sure that you can send SMS with Settings > iMessage turned off.
If you want to transfer your SIM card or phone number to a device that doesn't support iMessage
Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage if you plan to transfer your SIM card or phone number from an iPhone to a device that doesn't support iMessage. If you don't, other iOS devices might continue to try to send you messages using iMessage, instead of using SMS or MMS, for up to 45 days.
If you can't send and receive SMS
You will need these to send and receive SMS:
    An iPhone
A strong cellular network connection through a cellular network provider
A domestic SMS plan from your cellular provider (You might need an international messaging plan to send SMS to an international contact. Contact your carrier for more information)
A roaming SMS plan when you use a cellular provider's network that is different from your billing cellular provider's network (Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.)
To resolve issues sending and receiving SMS, follow these steps
Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
Make sure that you have a cellular network signal in the status bar of your iPhone. If there's no signal, learn more about troubleshooting no service.
    Restart your iPhone.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
Remove your SIM card and insert it again.
If you still can't send or receive SMS, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact who's trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that you're using the area code with the contact's phone number. When sending messages internationally, you also need to use the contact's international code.
If you're using a "Pay as you go" SMS plan, make sure it has enough available balance. Contact your carrier if you're unsure of your SMS plan or the available balance.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact from the Contacts app. Send a new message to the contact.
Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process might not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
Contact your carrier to confirm that you're provisioned for sending SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
Contact your carrier to verify there are no blocks or filters placed on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
If you can't send and receive MMS
You will need these to send and receive MMS:
    An iPhone 3G or later
    iOS 3.1 or later
A cellular data connection (MMS isn't available if you're using only Wi-Fi)
A domestic MMS plan from your cellular provider. You might need an international messaging plan to send MMS to an international contact (Contact your carrier for more information.)
A roaming MMS when using a cellular provider's network that is different from your billing cellular provider's network (Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.)
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps
Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you're roaming on a cellular provider network that is different from your billing provider's network.
Make sure that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar of your iPhone.
Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. If you can't send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above. MMS might not be available while you're on a call. Restart your iPhone.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
Remove your SIM card and insert it again.
If you still can't send or receive MMS, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you're sending a group message.
Make sure that you're using the area code with the contact's phone number. When you send messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
If you're using a "Pay as you go" MMS plan, make sure it has enough available balance. If you're unsure of your MMS plan or available balance, contact your carrier.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact from the Contacts app. Send a new message to the new contact.
Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process might not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
Contact your carrier to verify that you're provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
Contact your carrier to verify that there aren't blocks or filters on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
Your carrier might require modified APN settings to use MMS.

  • Email account not active anymore

i think my phone stopped recieving emails when i changed my password on my account, but when i try to re-setup my account on "email settings," it kept telling me i'd entered the wrong username or password.
username is your full email address, right? and password is your email account's password?
    it's not working for me.

    Hi there!
There are two sets of credentials to discuss...and I can't tell for sure which you are referring to, so I'll cover both...
BIS Credentials -- BIS is the service, controlled by your carrier, that functions as the conduit between your email services (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail, etc.) and your BB. BIS has separate credentials of it's own, and stores the credentials for all of the email accounts that you configure. The ID/PWD can be whatever you want them to be.
Email Credentials -- these are your email services (e.g., Yahoo, GMail) and they each have their own credentials. These credentials are what is stored inside of your BIS account.
So, from what you said, it sounds like you changed, at your email server, your email credentials and you need to therefore change what you have stored inside of BIS, but you are unable to log into BIS to do so. Is that correct?
If so, you need to contact your carrier -- they control your BIS account, including the credentials that you created sometime in the past.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Email Account Not Showing Up in Notes Account list

I'm using iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone.  I have an IMAP email account that I have synced on my iPhone, iPad3 & MBP that works fine.  On both the iPhone & iPad I have turned notes on in Settings/Mail.  When I go into Settings/Notes I get an option to choose that account as the default but in the actual Notes app itself, I can't see the account at all.  BTW: On both the iPad & the MBP I can see the notes and they sync just fine.
FYI: I have 2 other IMAP accounts that work fine.
    Thanks for any help.

  • HT4436 How can I transfer my odl family pack email to new iCloud id? Or add a new email account (not an alias) to my main icloud id?

I had a family pack but now I am not able to reach my son's email account. How can I find and transfer it? Or how can I open a new email account for my son through my icloud id. Actually it seems as if there is an oprating email account under his name but e-we cannot receive any emails or cannot reach the account settings...

Each sub-account of a MobileMe Family Pack should have been individually migrated to iCloud before August 1st last. Assuming that you didn't do this, you should be able to reactivate the address (though not retrieve its previous contents) by signing in with it in System Preferences>iCloud and enabling Mail - your son should do this on his own Mac or his own user account if he is using your Mac. It's not clear whether he will be able to reactivate the @me.com version or only get an @icloud.com version. (It would be useful to know, when he tries it.)
If he did migrate the account to iCloud then signing in in the same way should retrieve the contents and the @me.com address should work.
Alternatively he can just create a new Apple ID (for which he will need a new non-Apple email address) if he doesn't already have one, and sign in with that, enabling Mail and choosing a new @icloud.com address.
You should note that in none of these cases does his account have anything to do with yours (there is no need for a Family Pack equivalent in iCloud as it's free at basic level).
You could add an email alias to your account, but it's not a good idea as it will mix his emails up with yours and he won't be able to detach it later.

  • Email Account Not Shown In Notification Center

    Hi,
I have a few email accounts setup on my iPhone 5 iOS6, two Gmail account (business and personal) and two Exchange accounts (college and Gmail). The account that has the issue of not displaying new mail messages in the notification center is my college Exchange account.
I will hear the sound when new mail arrives, but nothing ever shows up. The Mail app even displays that there is an unread message. However, the notification center never shows the message.
Does anyone have this same problem or any suggestions about a resolution?
This account is, or was previously, set to push. I believe my other exchange account is setup the same way.
