How to edit email accounts on iMAC OSX Mountain Lion - i.e. add or remove accounts.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To add or remove mail accounts in Mountain Lion, first open Mail. Then, go to Mail menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Accounts, where you will be able to change the settings of existing mail accounts, and add or remove mail accounts.
You can also do it in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars

Another option is to create a smart mailbox that includes emails with date received before a desired date.
Then, select one message in the Smart Mailbox and cmd-A to select all. Then delete.

Two iMessage Accounts on OSX Mountain Lion???

Is it possible to have two iMessage accounts on OSX Mountain Lion? My wife and I have our own phones with separate Apple IDs for use in iCloud, etc, but share a computer at home. We would like to be able to use the iMessage functionality in Messages without having to switch between user accounts on the computer. I don't see a way to add a second iMessage acount on the computer version of Messages.
Please let me know if this is possible.

How do I clear the "recent" user account pictures in Mountain Lion?

How do I clear the "recent" user account pictures in Mountain Lion? A friend posted a stupid photo as one of the pictures as a joke and I cant figure out how to remove it from the recent pictures.

To completely remove the files, from the desktop click Go>Go to Folder and type
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ImageKit.RecentPictureService/Data/Library/Images /Recent Pictures/
Then move the files you don't want to trash.
Make sure to empty trash and restart before viewing your recents again, or they will reappear.

Can I backup a single account on my mountain lion macbookpro?

I have a macbook pro with two accounts (me and my wife's), but I now need to separate her account on a different machine because I will take one machine to work.
what is the best way to just backup her account and restore it on a different machine running snow leopard and keep mine on the existing computer?

I would suspect that this would not work to just copy the account, for example, the user folder, and expect it to be backwards compatible with Snow Leopard. SL will not know what to do with some of the ML files.
I would do this in a more manual fashion, that is, mount the SL machine HD on the ML machine with Target Mode OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode, and then transfer her documents, pictures, music, and whatnot over; and recreate her email account in Mail (if that's what you use for her email client); and reenter her Apple ID for iCloud. It may help to make a list first of what's in her account that she wants transferred over to the new computer. Also, some of her documents may not work in SL if they were created in ML-compatible apps.
Another option besides target mode would be to clone your ML drive to an external drive (with something like carbon copy cloner Mac Backup Software - Carbon Copy Cloner ), and then plug the external into the SL machine and transfer the files over.

Old emails not showing in mountain lion mail

I installed mountain lion and now, some of my emails received before the installation do
not show text. They only show the header and in the text area the circle and "loading", but
the text never appears. How can I fix that?

You could try deleteing and re adding your mail account. But make sure your account type is "IMAP" before doing so. If it is a "POP" account, you will loose all of your messages so it is important you make sure the account type is IMAP before deleting and re adding.

Canon iR5050 Job Accounting Error on Mountain Lion - PAHU HELP!

I specifically mentioned the user PAHU because he seems to have all the answers when it comes to this stuff.
I am the lone Mac user using our networked Canon ImageRunner 5050. The printer uses Job Accounting. I have an ID and password, and I even created a second ID and password to test.
BEFORE installing Mountain Lion, I would get a dialog box every time I printed that forced me to type in the ID/Password for the printer. It worked just fine for years.
AFTER installing Mountain Lion, the printer started to freak out. My department ID is, let's say, 299. The dialog box would pop up and I'd enter the ID number as always. However, it would then print 299 copies of whatever it was I was printing.
So, I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it with the newest driver from Canon (which says on the website is UFRII 2.42; however, my Printer Prefs just says "2.0" - see attached image.)
Now that I have the "new" driver, I don't ever get a dialog box. Instead, it always comes up with error # 15513 and says "Incorrect ID or Password. Specify the correct ID and Password.: 15513"
I have used the Printer Utility and have put in every combination of ID/password I could think of -- including, as I said above, a brand new ID and password I created on the printer itself.
I work on a large University campus and no one knows what to do. Tech support told me to call the printer contractor. The printer contractor told me to call the other tech support. The other tech support told me to call the first tech support. I even spent a few hours trying to retrieve my "old" drivers in Time Machine because I was willing to get 300 copies of whatever I wanted to print out.
Does anyone have ANY clue what else I can do?

The new UFR2 driver for Mountain Lion functions differently to the previous versions. With regards to Dept ID (Job Accounting), you no longer have the option to get a pop-up. I don't know why Canon has changed this but they have and you therefore have to change your workflow.
So, with the new driver installed (and you have to use this new version on Mtn Lion) you need to open the Printer Utility to enable Dept ID Management. Otherwise you get the errors you mention. Open Print & Scan and select the iR5050 printer. Then press Options & Supplies followed by Utility and then Open Printer Utility. This will open the Canon UFRII Printer Utility and have a section where you can enable Dept ID and set your ID and password. There is also a Verify button that will let you check that the ID is correct and does communicate with the printer. With the ID/pwd set you can then press Save Settings and quit the utility (you have to click on Canon UFRII Printer Utility in the menubar and select Quit - or use Command Q).
With the Dept ID set in the utility you can now open a document and select to print to the iR5050. If you change the print dialog menu to Special Features, you should now see that Dept ID is enabled and you should be able to print and get a document out of the iR without the previous error.
With regards to using a different ID than that set in the UFRII Utility, you can change the ID via the Special Features menu of the driver. This new ID will be used for that job, and when you print it again, the default will be use unless you open Special Features and set another ID to print with.

Why haven't i got my email from apple on mountain lion

i got the free mountain lion deal and now im waiting for in email after filling out a page of questions on ther web site and the said they would send me an email with a code so i could get it but no email has come

The servers are currently backed up with requests. As of today, reps are quoting a possible wait time of up to 72 hours, but with Lion they stretched up to two weeks. Just got to be patient, or buy it if you're eager.

Switch icloud accounts on OSX mountain lion

I would like to switch Icloud accounts on my IMac.
I'm currently using my personal icloud account, which is linked to all my personal documents and e-mail- and which is really only intended for my home, but would like to disconnect it, and start using the computer with another icloud account (which is linked to my WORK e-mail, documents).
When I got the new IMac I logged in with my persoanl icloud account (just out of habit) but I really should have used the Icloud from work.
When I now go to the Icloud tab in my system preferences to switch accounts and click "log out" the little wheel starts spinning and my computer starts running exteremely slow. Note that I'm running the 3.2 27" Imac with 16GB of ram and OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2- so I'm pretty sure my system should be more than qualified to handle such a task... (If this machine isn't - good luck to anyone with a slower model...)
The first time I tried this I left it running over night, only to find my mac was frozen the next morning- After a reboot it hadn't logged out from the icloud account.
The 2nd time I tried this, the machine kept spinning for 2 hours, only to come up with a notification that the startup disk didn't have enough resources for program files, and it suggested closing all apps and removing unnecesary files. - My machine is only about 1 month old and has about 970GB of free space...
The 3rd time I tried to log out, nothing happened at all- the wheel just kept spinning and spinning- and after 4 hours i rebooted the system, because I couldn't do anything with the machine anymore...
So here's my question: How can I log out from one icloud account, and log back in with another ( already existing account) without my machine crashing...

If you want to use two iCloud accounts, I recommend you to create another user for that Apple ID because you could have problems with your information

I can not share any document as Email Attachment in OSX Mountain Lion

Since the time I have installed OSx Mountain Lion. I am having this problem. I can not share any file, like a word file or pdf file as Email Attachment.
I could do in in Lion earlier.
I open a file > share > as Email attachment. It is not working
Anyone having the same problem.

1. Now if I go to file>share>Email as attachemnt can be selected but still share> Email as link is not selectable
2. I had one more issue, when I compose Email, I go to attach>select pdf file> choose file and try and send pdf attachment in Email from apple mail, the reciver does not get the pdf attachment, just get the plain Email. . But if I try and attach word or excel file, it goes well.
Now if I open gmail in my browser and attache pdf file, it goes well to the receiver.
Please see if you have any solution to this.

One email account stops working in Lion, despite same functioning settings on iPad and iPhone

here's to hoping someone out there can help.
Since the Lion install, one email account in Mail does not work. I tried deleting and re-installing the account and (with the help of tech support) toggling SSL settings and ports, but it still would not work. Interestingly, the account still works on iPad and iPhone. But the same settings do not work on the desktop Mail. Sending email to the account is received on mobile devices sans problem.
I'm afraid at this point to sync the macbook with iPad and iPhone for fear the devices will automatically stop receiving mail as well. What gives?

here is what I did to resolve the problem. In Mail/preferences/accounts/account information/ and at the bottom of the box there is a toggle arrow up and down to edit the outgoing mail server, check the box "use only this server" and hit this toggle button and select "edit SMTP Server List" at the very bottom of the email names. Be sure to select OK each time to get the passwords to hold! Some changes won't hold unless you click OK before you move on.
Select Advanced tab. Correct and/or add usernames and passwords as needed for each email account. It seems the passwords are not holding.
To test: Window/activity (a little windows will pop up showing activity bars) and then "get mail" button. This should show any problems

This will fix both pop and imap. so far it worked on yahoo, mobile me, gmail, hotmail, and others. Of course, you will need to know the incoming and outgoing mail server info, user name, and passwords.
Too bad we have to go though hoops to use an email program that used to work well.

Calender reminders / alerts to email not working with Mountain Lion

I installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on my macbook. Then all my calendar reminders which are set to email me at set times of the day / week / month / year failed to work. I've tried all the advice in all the forums but nothing can make my calendar send me an email to alert me to do what I've set in my calendar.
I've tried everything over a 3 week period and nothing gives me back the functionality I had with the previous version of Calendar sending me emails to remind me to do things.
Even the geniuses at Genius Bar at Apple were not able to make it work.
Can any geniuses out there help me?

Since I have no way of knowing what you've already done, I have to assume you've done nothing.
From the Calendar menu bar, select
Calendar ▹ Preferences ▹ Alerts
and uncheck the box marked
Turn off shared calendar messages in Notification Center
if it's checked.

Using Tally Accounting software under Mountain Lion

Hi,
I have tried using tally under parallels in Windows 8 on an Imac running mountain lion. The software connects to the network but asks for a license. I am not able to use it. Gautam H seems to have had success but I dont know how. Does anyone have a solution?

Email signatures gone in Mountain lion

My old email signatures list shows up in Mountian Lion, but when I click on one, they're blank. Is there a way to restore my old signature files?
