Email accounts won't retain password

Since updating to Snow Leopard, I am constantly getting the dialogue box asking me for the password for 2 of my email accounts (neither of them are gmail, which works fine). Literally, I will enter my password, it will check my email, and 3 minutes later it will prompt me for my password again.
I have gone into preferences many times, and re-entered the appropriate password, and have also checked the option to have it saved in the Keychain.
This didn't happen prior to the Snow Leopard update and it is driving me crazy.
Any suggestions??

I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.2, and I'm having the problem too. I tried the suggestions posted here -- re-entering and saving the passwords for accounts in the Mail app and locking and unlocking the Keychain Access app. It seemed to help for a while, but I just had Mail ask again for the keychain password.
We need a way to fix this. And of course it isn't the only problem being reported with Mail under Snow Leopard.

My iCloud email account won't sign in. Every time i try to long on it say "Unable to verify account name or password". I just reset the password to what i thought was my iCloud account, but ended up just being my apple ID. It signs in on my iphone with the password i try to type in to my Mac but it says it's wrong, help??

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

Safari 3 Won't Retain Passwords

Ever since I upgraded to OSX 10.4.11, the new version of Safari -- Safari 3 -- won't retain passwords for secure sites -- e.g., my online banking. Each time, I need to go through a "challenge question" on the site to gain access to my accounts, where with Safari 2, I was able to type in my password and access immediately. I've deleted "secureinternetbank.com" files in library/#shared objects, but still have to sign on as though I were first accessing the site. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Depends what you upgraded from.
Earlier versions (don't ask me which) of OSX did not support the autofill suppression that most banking sites require to allow them to be reasonably sure that it is actually you logging on with your password and not someone else sitting at your computer. The banking industry complained to Apple about that and Apple fixed it (around about Tiger I think). I suspect that's what you are seeing.

Hi Go to settings Email Accounts Delete Email Account then Re add acount back again If you have more than one Email Account do this with each one. Cheers Brian

Having the email address is not necessary. It is just the username for the device. All you need is that Apple ID and password. Now, if you forgotten the password, then you have more work to do. Since that email is no longer active, you would need to send the reset to your rescue email, if you remember that. Or you will need to contact Apple Security for help. Assuming that in this day and age you want security.
Setting up a new email account on mail, the password is entered for connecting to the in & outgoing servers before SSL is set. Before you can set SSL, mail connects to the servers so email password is transmitted unencrypted?
This seems a very obvious quirk/bug and something that I have always felt uncomfortable about.
Anyone else think this is not a good thing?

Actually it look like all apple devices have the same mail setup procedure, so are your email passwords all being sent over the network in plain text before you get the chance to set the SSL option?
Any security experts care to comment.

I have deleted the account and re activated it again with success until restarting and the same error message appears again and again. This is happening on two AOL accounts. Try going to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access and deleting the password there. While there, run Keychain First Aid.

Apple mail says pop account won't accept password.

I get this error message periodically and I type in my password and it's fine. This time I keep getting the error message. I even went on ATT's site to reset the password on my email account there and it still won't take it; still just getting the error message.

Nevermind, seems to be working now, after typing in the password about 50 times.

I assume that you updated the existing account id rather that creating a new one, if so then you can log out of the currently logged in account by tapping on it in Settings > Store and you can then log back in with the updated id. If you created a new account then any content that is on the iPad will remain linked to that old account

MobileMe is closed (as was announced over a year ago). You need to migrate your account to iCloud while you still can - go to http://me.com and follow the link to migrate. You should do this as soon as possible.
Then sign in in System Preferences>iCloud (Lion required) and enable Mail in the checklist there.

Email account won't send from iphone

I just switched from a blackberry to iphone 4. I have set up all of my email accounts but my work account won't send emails to any accounts that are not from our server. I never had this problem with my blackberry so I know it can be done. The message always says "email address rejected by server". Anyone else have this problem?

Sorry no answer, just to say i am getting the same message when trying to send mail from my yahoo account. I have a Microsoft exchange account for work which seems to be fine.

GoDaddy-hosted email account won't add to or work on my iPhone 6

I recently started working for a company that uses a GoDaddy.com-hosted email client/server. I followed GoDaddy's extensive online instructions for adding their account as a new email account to my iPhone 6 but it simply won't work.
I have made sure to double check the information I've entered for spelling errors.
Apple support talked me through the issues by phone and we made multiple attempts, but nothing worked. They said perhaps a user on this forum has more experience with GoDaddy specifically, same with GoDaddy
On one attempt to add the new account, I did get the account added and emails started to load, but none would send. It said it couldn't connect to the server. So, we deleted the account and tried to start over but now it will never progress beyond "verifying"
I am not using Outlook Exchange or 365, just a regular account
So, I am back to the point where I need to add this account to my list of email account options and also a solution for sending emails once it does acknowledge.
This is as far as I have gotten. Do you have any hacks?

I Have the same issue with my iPhone 6 , but in addition I can't make calls , send sms or access internet ,displaying no service or full signal, it stays like that till I retart my iPhone , i bought it on 22/12/2014 from Vodafone store, I went there and they recieved it , ereased the phone , then installed new software , changed the nano-sim with a new one , I started use it but nothing get better , really don't know what to do , very disappointed and about to throw my brand-new handset.
