Email address-iCloud issue

I am having an issue with the email address associated with iCloud.
My iCloud is attached to an email address that I no longer use. When I head to iCloud on my phone, it says my Account is Not Verified and to check the email address associated with the cloud to verify. However, it is an old hotmail account I no longer use. While I can still log into this Hotmail account, there is no email there to verify.
I already deleted the account on the phone and tried to "re-do" it with my current Apple ID (a Gmail account) but it still shows as the Hotmail being associated with the iCloud. How can I rectify this?

Change Email Address iCloud

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
For years I have used my university's email address, however after graduating, my Alma Mater turned off my email address, and I had to switch my iCloud email address to a new Yahoo.de based email address. However, within Yosemite it keeps trying to log into iCloud using my old email address, and doesn't give me an option to change it my logon iCloud email address to my new one without deleting my iCloud account off my computer, and adding the same one back with the new email address.
Please help.

From your post I understand that you have changed your Apple ID, but in your system preferences you still see that you are signed in with your previously named Apple ID. Please sign out of iCloud on your Mac, and sign in with your newly renamed Apple ID.
On your Mac, choose Apple Menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.

New iPad, no email address, iCloud?

Just bought an iPad for my octogenarian mother for Christmas. She hates computers and does not have an email address, and I am trying to picture Xmas day and setting up her device. Apple insists that she have an email address to use the device, but I don't see how to create one for her using only apple services. Seriously do I have to set up a gmail or yahoo email account to use an apple service?? Is it just me or does that strike anybody as insane that I have to use a competitors service to make an apple product function straight put of the box?
Have spent about two hours crawling the forums and apple FAQs tonight and am more confused than ever. I want a clean simple experience that morning, and I am not seeing that happening.
Tried to setup a .me account tonight for her,but the site does not offer that as an option.
Have used macs for decades. Have two in house now, 3 iPhones an iPad, apple tv and Airport express network. Not an apple newb. Not stupid. Very frustrated at how poorly apple has implemented iCloud and the PC free iOS experience.

Thanks for responding. When I set up a new iCloud account and an apple Id for her, it will demand an email address. She doesn't have one. It looks like I will have to create one using gmail in order to use an apple product. .me is unavailable to set up a new account. .mac takes you back to apple web site.
Apple has created a situation where you have to have an email to use their hardware, but they assume you already have one. Not one place in their documentation do they provide a mechanism to create one.
Some have suggested that you can create a .me account during the initial set up. I cannot confirm this from apples own FAQ or other support documents pertaining to iCloud.
I am ready to give up and create a gmail address for her, then use that to create her apple Id. My point is this is an absurd situation that apple has created. Customers Forced to use competitors services in order to set up apple hardware.

I can't figure out how to get all my email addresses from Windows Messenger Live into my Razr Maxx. Can anyone help me?

Fantastic question. And good thing this VZW wiz kid is job ready to get you back in the loop with Windows Messenger Live on your Razr Maxx.
Now, you should be able to go to settings > add account > Email > Windows Live > and add your account(s) with ease. Have you gotten this far? If not, please try. If you have however, do you receive an error? Are not all the accounts loading? Please share so we can go further if necessary.

Email Address Link Issues

Ok, I like to think that I am able to understand the basic items in this program. That being said, there are small parts that would make me pull my hair out, if I had hair. I have a form that I have finished up. At the bottom of the form there is a line that says if you have any questions please call or email this address: [email protected] , there is nothing else after the address other then a print button a bit lower on the page. As you know, Adobe reader will automatically change this into a hyperlink to email. The address in the new email that opens is: [email protected] I can not tell where this refunds is coming from. Can anyone provide me any advice on where to look?

ICloud wrong email address, iCloud wrong email address

When using Icloud i noticed that using my Apple ID i could use Adress book, Calendar, Find me, and Iworks but NO Mail. Using my Me.com adress and password i could open the mail all the thers except Iworks.
When i look at the prefrences on the Apple ID i noticed that a letter from my email adress was missing, how can i add teh letter back in to teh adress so that i can use all of teh Icloud function under my Apple ID and not have to open the mail inder my me.com

How to get an iCloud email address?

I want to get an iCloud email address (@icloud.com) for several reasons, among them:
To streamline my iCloud account access so only that email is associated with iCloud & its services.
To provide email between Apple (e.g. Apple Support) and myself
To be able to use Notes
Currently, I am using the same Yahoo email address for both iCloud and iTunes.
However, I wonder if I can give those up and replace them by the iCloud.com email address?
Some details: I got a new-to-me iPhone a few weeks ago, which was reset, and so the only apps
on it are the default iPhone apps. I have not added any apps.Therefore, I don't mind having to do
another reset as long as I save the few photos and some phone number contacts to a Vcard.
Could I create a new iCloud email address and use that exclusively after reseting the iPhone?
I could restore the contacts and photos from the computer.

If you do this, it's vital that you create a 'rescue address' which is a non-Apple address, because if you don't and something goes wrong with the account - for example if you forget your password - Apple can only contact you at the iCloud address which youy can't access.

Issue when changing primary email address of Apple ID

I consider this mail as bug report of how Apple handles multiple email addresses on Apple ID.
Pre setup:
Primary email: "email address"
Additional address: "email address 2"
Iphone installed with "email address" and
Steps to do on appleid web page:
1 - Change password (was forced)
2 - Remove "email address 2" from additional mail addresses list
3 - Change apple ID primary "email address" to -> "email address 2"
4 - Add "email address" to additional addresses list
Result:
Primary email: "email address 2"
Addidional address: "email address"
When you try use iPhone, it asks login to iCloud (correct behavior, password has been changed). But iPhone does not ask for login, it asks password for "email address".
If you try remove "email address" iCloud account, iPhone asks password for "email address" to remove "Find my phone". Device cannot be removed from iCloud web page so iPhone is "locked" to "email address", and this cannot be changed.
Alternative Apple ID "[email protected]", also listed on additional email addresses list. You CAN'T change alternate Apple ID, but you CAN remove "[email protected]" from additional mail list. This must be bug!
Another bug: You CAN'T select primary email address from 'additional mail addresses' list, you MUST remove address from list first, then you can change primary address to that removed address. You should able to use own verified address as primary apple id address.
Also removed addresses must be re-verified every time after removing.

I had a similar problem, which prevented me changing my personal data on iCloud/apple etc. I found the answer on the apple web-site, "appleid.apple.com".
This site lets you change your primary country, and so lets you use the app store.

ICloud won't accept my email address in "set up"

I'm trying to set up iCloud and it requires that my apple ID must be an email address.My old ID wasn't an email address and when I try to replace it with my regular email address iCloud refuses it because it won't accept primary or recovery addresses.I'm planning to get an iCloud address once I have iCloud set up. How do I get past this catch 22?

You only have one e-mail? You unhappy because you may need to create e-mail with less characters? To be honest you surprised me, I have never seen that message, I suppose if you tell us how many characters the least we (users like you) can do is to say if we have seen or not longer e-mail addresses.

Depending on when you originally set up your Apple ID, you may have @mac.com, @me.com, and @icloud.com email addresses associated with your account, but all mail sent to those addresses should still come in to the same iCloud account (you can test this to make sure by sending yourself emails at those addresses). iCloud handles only its own email addresses - @icloud.com only for new accounts, and @mac.com and @me.com for people who already have them. It doesn't interact with other email accounts.
What you can do is to set up forwarding at the other account so that messages are forwarded to iCloud (I should set it also to retain the messages on the server if I were you). This will enable you to check the messages using your iCloud account, though there is only any point in all this if you are doing it online at icloud.com because you are away from home. If you are at home you can more easily just receive the messages straight from the account.
However you should note that in replying to messages received on iCloud you cannot respond using the other account's address as the 'From' address - you can only use the iCloud address.

I need to change the default email address that gets sent from Firefox.

When sending emails from an important web app (Highrise) for my business, it defaults to my home email, when my default in Outlook is clearly my work email. I believe this is the fault of Firefox, since every app (Highrise and Outlook) has my default as [email protected], but when sending an email it goes to [email protected] Any ideas?

Could you be more specific about the steps you are taking to change the Adobe ID? I was able to change one of my accounts to a .ca email address without issue. Also, information on Browser version and OS may be helpful. I am assuming that you are doing this in a Browser and not the FormsCentral AIR application, is this correct?

I changed my apple id email address last week, not a problem I just entered the correct info on my 6 apple devices for FaceTime, AppStore and iTunes.
The issue now, is that I have changed my appleid password so that the kids couldn't install any apps and charge my credit card.
Now I am getting an icloud authorisation error, it is telling me that the account (old apple id) or password are incorrect.
What have I done and how can I fix it?
Do I have to 'delete account' on my iphone and add a new one? I have just paid for the max icloud storage plan as well.

I FOUND THE SOLUTION!
I had the same exact problem. I had my old apple ID connected to a school email which did not exist anymore. My ipad was prompting me to put the password in for that ID and I could not delete it from my ipad because the "Find My Ipad" was turned on, once again prompting for password. I called apple and they said this Apple no longer exists and is not in there system, which I knew already. After hours on the phone nobody could help me. Try this.
-Go to create a new Apple ID and use the same email address as the old apple ID which is locked in on your ipad
-Create a new password and all that, it will say it send a verification link to your email, in my case my email no longer exists so I could not do this
- I called Apple to explain this problem and I asked if they could verify it for me, which they did after I convinced them it was worth a try. The guy told me that the verification shouldnt matter and should still be able to login but he did it anyway. You can try skipping this step but if it doesn't work then go ahead.
-Go to ICloud and click on your account, the email should be grayed out but it should allow you to change that password, put in the new password which you just created.
-This allowed me to sign in to accept the new terms and conditions but it said "unable to conncet to server" so I just backed out and went to "Delete Account" and it worked!
The whole idea is to re-create your old apple ID into Apple's system and then use that new password. The guy at Apple said tons of people called about this problem and nobody could solve it. I thanked him for helping me and he thanked me for helping him. I hope this helps you!

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
