Hello all,
I set up a separate email account for most websites I regularly visit and Apple Discussions is no different. This allows me to share the address reasonably publicly but, if spam forces it, ditch the address and start afresh. Similarly, if a bank asks for a email address from me they get theirbankname(at)mrtotes(dot)co.uk. This also alerts me to who compromised my email address to the spammers so I can duly whinge to them.
Here I use the address applediscussions(at)mrtotes co uk and I set this in My Info some time ago (18 Jun 06). Today I noticed that this address had been removed from my public profile and another email address listed for all to view. This address is one I used to use some time ago and is the one I originally signed up to Discussions with. I've now changed it back to the custom one in MyInfo; so it should replicate through in the near future.
Any reason for this slippage of email address? Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks for the reply. I can assure you the only time I've changed my email address in My Info in recent months was to correct this error a few minutes before I posted.
I believe the system changed my address in My Info.
The desired email address has now propagated through the system and I am back in a correct state.
I actually use a different account for Apple Store/iTS etc so I'm a little baffled on this one. Still no real harm done.

New Apple ID using email addresses

I have an iPhone 4 synced to my iMac and an iTunes account. My wife got an iPad 2, and used my Apple ID to buy apps. Now with IOS5, Apple requires an email address for the account name. Since the upgrade on both devices, we can't use imessage or facetime between the phone and ipad since my email address is the account name. It's like sending a message to myself. When I changed the email address on the iPad, Apple thought I was changing my Apple ID.

I thought I was alone in this problem. I have an iPhone 3GS and when I upgraded to the OS5 Apple wouldn't take my e-mail address. In the process of trying to trouble shoot I inadvertently changed my Apple ID (which was not an e-mail address) and now I can't get my old ID back. Apple is forcing me to use my e-mail account instead.
My guess is that this is all intentional, but since Apple hasn't come out and stated "we are now requiring you to change your old Apple ID to an e-mail account" it is frustrating and feels a bit underhanded. Your note confirms that this is actually going on and not just me trying in vain to revive my old Apple ID. Apple has also changed the password format, another thing they sort of just slipped in there. Oh well.

Why am I able to receive an email from my own email address that I never sent?

I get email in my inbox that sends it to my junk email folder sent from my own email address that I never wrote or sent. It is junk mail and I want to stop it, I see no way to stop email with unwanted words like you could in windows xp.

Spammers can forge any "from" name and address they like on a message. Since most users don't block mail sent by themselves, they hope to slip past your spam filter this way.
Unless you see these items in your Sent Items folder, or they list multiple people from your address book, most likely they are not connected to your email account.
That said, it's a good idea to scan your computer for malware, because many users unknowingly get recruited into spamming rings (a bot program on your computer takes commands from the botnet coordinator and sends out the spam, usually without any visible indication). A experience on help chat- Bt email address not as...

This all started when I tried to access BT Wifi, and found my bt email address was not accepted.
I then chose to use chat as I have a problem with my hearing.
then following is my experience:
it seems the email has not been assigned yet to my Broadband line.
It has to be dealt by the Order's Team
Then followed a conversation with a pleasant lady who tried to get my email address assigned to my broadband!
After about 5minutes she told me that it could not be done today as it is Sunday and they are closed.
then she told me that she would ring me tomorrow Monday between 9.30 and 10.30am when the department would be open, and then she could getmy email address assigned to my broadband!
This experience took a total of 45 minutes so far.
is it normal not to assign email address to broadband, or is it a slip-up in order processing?
Will await the promised phone call of tomorrow.

7 days have past, where are we?
1, My HH5 is now pushing out BT-Fon which it didn't before =Good
2, I can't use bt-fon though, Nexus 7 reports, "sorry there has been a problem logging you in,etc"
3, With Nexus 7, If i force a connection to BTWiFi-with-FON, which can be achieved , get "Network communication issues" when trying to access the internet. When using the wifi app I am faced with "Please use 3G to proceed with Opt-in" How? this is wifi only tablet.
3a, With iPad air, forgetting the secure connection to hh5 it automatically logs onto BTWiFi-with-FON, and can use internet, However using the BT-WiFi app says, Setup "Sorry, there has been aproblem logging you in, we will try again next time," as androids will not accept email address etc
3b, With Sony phone, connects to BTWiFi-with-FON, and automatically goes btwifi.purchases page, asks me login, after entering details correctly i am confronted by "Email address error.Please use another email address and try again" as I thought bt were always requiring the primary email address for logging on, is this correct?
4, I rang the exeter No. i had been given, spoke in length to a helpful man, who said that he had been looking into the matter, and informed me that bt had issues with the wifi apps especially for android, and are working to resolve, Ok end of conversation. but he did tell he would let me know outcome! and asked me to use the setting in the app to forward info to the development team, when i said but i cant, because the app wont allow me to pass through the first screen, !!!
5, Now its Monday, now I am thinking it must be my email address!

Bt-Fon rejects it, (my assumption is that they should be the same?)as i only have one
At Bt-fon it offers forgotten password / username, so we use this. forwards me to BT Yahoo rest your password.
Enter my password with @btinternet.com selected, press next,
Please enter valid email address.Please double check it and make sure there are no spaces or unusual characters.
Stumped again!!!!
So when we started this, via chat, and i was informed that my
email address has not been assigned to my Broadband line
It would still appear to be true. or am i wrong, and where can i go to sort it.

FAQ: Validating Email Addresses before sending

Hi All!
Recently I've been developing a servlet to allow our users to change their email address. The problem with this, of course, is that the user can easily enter an invalid address or simply make an error typing their address. Obviously it's not possible to catch every error, but it is possible to at least verify that the address entered is of a valid format, i.e. [email protected]
The JavaMail API provides some validation in InternetAddress, but again allows some things to slip through the cracks. Here's the code that I've come up with to at least ensure the proper email address format:

On the other hand, the only time this map should grow is when an email address gets changed, and the address is moved to a previously unknown domain. Hopefully, the memory requirements should not become unbearable during the expected uptime for the JVM.

I have never needed to answer my security questions, so the correct information slipped my mind. But my dilemma is the fact that the verification email address is no longer valid and I'm not sure how to get my verification.

Ok so you are unable to remember your security questions and the verified rescue email is no longer active.

Email salary slips

I have generated a single PDF file from oracle reports containing salary slip of about 10,000 employees of our company. Salary slip for each employee is of one page(fixed) which means that if we have 10,000 employees then generated PDF file will be of 10,000 pages.
I want to email each employee his salary slip. I have record for each employee with his details and email address in a database table. How can I work with page setup and how can I manage this during runtime that which page I have traveresed at current position.

If I understand you correct you have PDF file contiaining of 10.000 pages, each employees salary slip is already part of this huge pdf file.
Furthermore I think you try to send the whole PDF to each employee whicht itself has only access to its particular page within the PDF file...
To my limited knowledge this approach probably won´t work but Ia m no PDF expert... even if there is a way of allocating a particular page within the PDF file as a whole to a single employee this approach is probably not advisible ...
Besides of probably existing security concernes it is probably better to sending 10.000 times a small PDF file (consisting only of a particular employee salary slip) rather than then sending 10.000 times a huge PDF document...
Due to the huge amount of email sending requests I would recommend a database driven approach.
In the first step create the report in that way that it receives the employees "account" number / unique id as a parameter.
In that way you would create 10.000 "small" PDF file donsisting only of one page each (for each employee).
Next, build a database procedure which is processing a certain loop to a table (for each employee....)
By fetching through this table, call the oracle report with the employee id as a parameter from within the database using the SRW package and process it as an email...
Even though this procedure will work I would recommend thinking about a different solution rather than oracle reports for such a huge amount of printing requests, due to the fact that it is hardly possible to recieve a feedback whether the email has been transferred or not. If there is no workaround I would create a dedicated Reports server instance on the application server for this purpose...

Email address change--how does this affect laptop and nook?

I use my Adobe ID only to authorize my laptop and Nook. I need to change my email address which seems easy on the FAQs, but how do I then reauthorize my laptop and Nook? And, if I do this, are all my existing library books unreadable since they were downloaded by what the Nook thinks is a different user? I'm almost sure I won't be able to return any books in ADE on my laptop, but I can live with that if I can still read the books on the Nook.

The sync process with iTunes transfers the email account settings (for your chosen accounts via your iPhone sync preferences) from the Mail application on your Mac to the iPhone's email application.

I am trying to use eprint and when I login it says my email address isnt registered

I would guess this is an AIM valid Screen Name such as an Apple issued @mac.com account.
I would also guess you travel to other countries.
There have been several posts about @mac.com names and people who travel and use their Screen Name elsewhere having the name Suspended.
Can you Log in here https://settings.aim.com/ ?
Is this where you saw the Suspended message ?
For AIM issued name the answer is to change your Password as this tends to prove you own the account.
This does not work for Apple IDs used as AIM Valid Screen Names as AIM can't tell when the password is changed (They can only see it when you log in)
AIM's Suspended Account page has an email ([email protected]) on it to contact if your account remains Suspended.
However you need to be very clear that you have an Apple Issued Name and that you know that resetting the password that works for AIM Names and that you would like them to reset the account.
More recently this has been a sticking point. It seems the Contact you get does not always know about the agreement that AIM recognises Apple Issued IDs as Valid Screen Names and that the AIM servers can only view the passwords at specific times (or at least confirm them) so you changing it will make no difference and that they have to step in manually.

I am trying to change or add the email address which is attached to my itunes account. I keep getting a notice saying email address is already verified for another Apple ID. Im sure its one of my devices. How can I get my current email address added?

My itunes account is attached to an email account that I no longer have and cannot retrieve. I have been having trouble with purchases made to my itunes account and want to view my purchases. The support center said that they would email me the purchase history. However, I don't have that email address. When I go to change my email address to my current one, I get a message in red saying that "the email address is already verified for another Apple I.D." I'm sure it is one of my devices as we have 4 ipods and 2 iphones. How can I get my account to use my current email address? If one of my devices was registered using my current email address as it apparently was, do I need to figure out which device that is and remove the email address from that account? I'm so confused. I just want ALL my devices to use my current email address. I need to replace the old email address with my current one. How do I do that?

Your best bet would be to try resetting the password to the account that you would like to use via iForgot
Once you log in to that account change the email address to anything, it can even be fake its just a placeholder
After you do that you will be free to change your old email address on your appleID to the new one that is now free to be used as it is no longer attached to the other account.

In Thunderbird, I cannot send email. I am asked to enter an email address in Mail and Newsgroup Account settings but when I click on this option, nothing opens.

I can connect to Thunderbird and receive email. However, I cannot send emails. When I press send (either from replying to an email or entering an email address manually) I get the following error message:
Sending of message failed.

When I click on the menu option within the email message Tools/Mail & Newsgroup, the message minimises and the programme returns me to my inbox. There is no Mail & Newsgroup setting on the mail programme.

You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.

Depending on what you're asking...
There is no means to merge Apple IDs. You can change the mail address assocaited with your Apple ID, so you might switch to using and purchasing from one email address, and using the second as a backup. (There's no means to merge the purchases, and related baggage.)
While I'm guessing this was about Apple IDs, for completeness... Combining the mail messages involving multiple email addresses is separate from the Apple ID; that is usually done with some combination of notifying the senders or with the forwarding of messages from one mail server to the preferred server. Or running multiple mail accounts in parallel, depending on what you are up to.

Help. My old @us.army.mil email address was terminated by the army. I used that address to register my first apple id account on my iPad. I can't remember my original Apple ID number and if I ask to reset my password, Apple sends the reset link to my old non-working email address. I have a new gmail address and a new Apple ID number associated with that address. How do I get my iPad to use my new gmail address and new apple ID number? Remember, I can't log out of my old account because I can't remember the password. Amd Apple will only reset the password by sending a link to my old, non functioning army email account.
