Email addresses fromThunderbird to Sony Xperia V

I've recently acquired a Sony Xperia V. I am a novice on smartphones and want to understand more about emails.I set up email via the email app on the phone. Who runs the app - Google? If so is this what is known as Gmail? When I tried to use Xperia transfer to transfer my email addresses from my laptop, it said No contacts were found, and of course when I try to send an email there are no contact addresses. I use Thunderbird on my laptop and have a tiscali.co.uk email address, which is now run by TalkTalk.I do not wish to change or set up any other email account, gmail account or suchlike. Is there any way to transfer the email addresses from Thunderbird directly into the Sony Xperia V, please? I successfully transferred my mobile contacts via an sd card. Can I use this method with email contacts and if so how, or will there be file conflicts?

  • Email app on Sony Xperia Z1 not working

    the previous day, everytime i pressed the email app, a message came up on the screen saying 'sync not working'
    today everytime i press the Email app on the phone, a message comes up with 'Could not open connection to server'
    It will not let me go any further once the message disappears so i am unable to delete the email accounts or have a look at the settings. i have rebooted the phone and tried stopping the email app and exchange services app from the settings. however they still sometimes reappear in the list of apps that are currently running.
    i want to avoid doing a factory reset. can anyone help?

    Hi,
    If an Email account has been added to your phone, you should be able to find it via Settings > Accounts > Email/Exchange ActiveSync > Tap your account > Menu button > Remove account. Try to remove your accounts and configure it again to see if it works.

  • Sony Xperia system upgrade causes BT email issue

    My Sony Xperia mobile phone has just had a system upgrade and now my BT emails are coming up corrupted on it. I contacted my phone provider who tells me BT has changed their popbox codes and I need to go on to my account and enable it for mobile devices. I have had a look with no luck. Any suggestions please.

    I have had this exact experience with my Sony Xperia M2 Aqua phone after downloading new system software about 2 weeks ago. My husband and I have the same type of phones and share the same email account. Fortunately he did not update his phone with the latest Sony software. He still has the previous version on his phone and he has had no problems at all. 
    I have had little joy with Sony other than to ask me to send them screenshots of the problem, to take off and reload my btinternet email account, and to use PC Companion to repair/reload the software. I have done all they ask but to no avail as problem is still the same after doing everything they suggest. They are extremely loathe to accept that the problem stemmed from their software update but are now referring it to a technical department to investigate. Sony say that I can't revert to previous version either as a solution as they can't downgrade a phone again after upgrade had been installed.
    I would welcome any suggestions or advice to fix the problem if anyone can help.

  • Changed my Apple User Name (email address) and home sharing no longer works?, Changed my Apple User Name (email address) and home sharing no longer works?

    I've had the 2nd generation Apple TV since this past October when it was released and it has worked fine until I recently changed my Apple User Name (email address). After changing my user name my Apple TV and iPhone 4 no longer find my shared network. Home sharing is enabled on all devices, including my Sony Vaio Laptop, iPhone4, and Apple TV 2nd generation. Everything else has remained constant, including service provider, router, modem, and internet security (Trend Micro). Also, my library is on a networked hard drive, which didnt seem to make a difference before, but I figured I'd mention it. Any thoughts?

    Thank you for the information.  He confirmed that the ID and password are the same on every device.  This only started happending when he changed his User Name with Apple. 
    --Itunes is running on a Windows Vista Machine (Sony Vaio)

    Can you tell me more about the technologies that apple uses to make "homesharing" work?  Do you think he may need to remove then re-install Bonjour?

  • WHY CANT I PASTE EMAIL ADDRESSES IN THE ADDRESS WINDOW

    Thank you I think I figured it out. I'm working with a Sony BPAV folder among other formats. Apparently if you drop a BPAV folder directly into any main folder, FCPX import will only read the BPAV files/folder and will ignore any other files or folders in the same main folder as if they didn't exist.
    To resolve it I created a new named folder to place the BPAV folder into. Once I did this the other folders reappeared in FCPX import window along with the newly created folder coantaing the BPAV folder.

    I am just getting the hang of my new N73 (great device). I use the email facility quite a bit and have found that when you select a name from the address book it does not show the actual email address. Unfortunately, I have a couple of friends with the same name so I would like to view the email address before hitting send.
    Any ideas / suggestions would be great.

    PS This is my first Nokia and I am baffled why the phone doesn't display the name of someone calling me, when I have the same phone number against two names - surely displaying either would be better than displaying neither. My old (non Nokia) just displayed the first alphabetically.

    Nah - it will never display the name when it's in twice, saves a whole load of confusion lol
    All I can suggest for the email problem is to rename the contacts, so it's more obvious and easier to identify which one's which

    one month ago i bought sony z1 and saw 2 deadpixel on screen,went to sony service center(KLCC,kualalumpur),the regret to help me then said me to go to lowyat plaza same sony shop where i bought the phone,its was sony othourised shop,they also said go to sevice center for assistance,
    i feel like im a pingpong ball and people are sending me here and there,and no one is helping me for my new phone issue,they dont want to replace the phone,any way 20 calls made to call center on helpine of sony,then Miss.Jess (manager) ensure some one call me or help me but no one help me again,
    then i went to another service center infront of timesquare (Ixsun Sdn.Bhd. Lot 1.07 Podium Block,. 1st Floor Plaza Berjaya,. 12 Jalan Imbi,. 55100 Kuala Lumpur),
    This time one lady who helped me to replace my mobile in 7 working days,i got the new z1 atlast,
    i was happy and i thought issue is now resolved.
    just after replacing to new z1 now again got dead pixel on left below of screen,
    This time im now super pissed off by SONY MALAYSIA.
    i dont understand what is my mistake, to switch from samsung to sony for its better camera and waterproof thingy,
    but now i realise that it was my biggest mistake of swiching to SONY.
    any ways this time i wont keep quiet and will escalte this issue,on all social fourms and media.

  • Changed my email address, now my ID won't work

    I incorrectly entered my email address as '.neet', got my computer authorized, then noticed my mistake and fixed my email address to '.net'. Now my Sony won't pick up the ebooks I download using Digital Editions, and when I tried to change my email address back to .neet in Digital Editions (to match my original ID), it said that email address was already in use. Argh! Any ideas?

    Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iCloud on your devices after updating your Apple ID.  I recommend the following steps:
    Symptoms
    iOS 7 may ask for the password to your previous Apple ID when you sign out of iCloud.
    Resolution
    1. Use your current Apple ID password
    Trying using your current Apple ID password. If that doesn't work, continue to the next step.
    2. Sign out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime
    If you are currently signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
    If you are not signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
    3. Change your Apple ID temporarily
    If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't work, try these steps:
    Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
    Tap Settings > iCloud and try to sign out.
    Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
    Tap Settings > iCloud and sign in with the new Apple ID.

  • Any experience with iTunes syncing to Sony Xperia Active?

    I'm considering getting a Sony Xperia Active only becasue it's more durable than an iPhone, but am curious if anyone has any experience with its syncing to Apple software like iTunes, iMovie, Address Book and iCal?

    Not really any of that from reading the software information.  It seems it just does it on a basic file transfer level, not interfacing with any of Apple's actual applications (not surprisingly).  Playlists are actually part of the iTunes library, not the media files.  While you could add a "playlist" to it by dragging the files to the device, it would just be adding a bunch of files and you would then have to figure out how to get them structured into a playlist format the device understands.  There may be third party software packages that go beyond the basic one I linked but you would have to search.
    On the calendars and addressbook, again, no interface with Apple's applications.  You'd have to export the data into some format the device could then import.  Maybe not impossible but certainly not seamless.

  • AdobeID and changing email address

    recently I bought an eReader from Sony, created an AdobeID using an email address I currently use. Furthermore, I also authorized the eReader and the laptop.
    Now let's say I want to change the email address I used to create the AdobeID, let's say from [email protected] to [email protected] . This can easily be done if you sign in to the Adobe website (My Adobe-ID) .
    I suppose there will be no problem with the laptop and the eReader. "Just" deauthorize and authorize them and they will now show the new email address. But, what happens to the already purchased books that are DRM protected? And what is an AdobeID anyway?
    If it is just an email address once that one changes then no previous DRM protected material can be read. If that is the case how does Adobe and those content providers relying on an AdobeID handle cases where the customer changes or has to change his email address ?
    Any thoughts ?

    This question comes up in one form or another at least once a month.
    The answer is somewhat technical.  Your Adobe ID is embedded in your copy
    of Digital Editions when you download and activate the product.  Digital
    Editions uses the ID when it builds keys for ebooks that you download, so
    each ebook is identified to the particular Adobe ID in Digital Editions at
    the time of the download.  Now, let's add the DRM overlay: the rules for
    DRM-protected material require that the user (you) are identified to the
    material specifically (via Digital Editions and its assignment of a key to
    the ebook.  Same thing as non-DRM ebooks.
    The implications are as you've outlined.  You'll be able to read ebooks
    that you downloaded under the Adobe ID that's active at the time you try to
    read them.  If it doesn't match with your ebook's key, you won't be able to
    read it.
    Most of us use our email address as our Adobe ID, but you didn't have to do
    that.  You could have made up an independent string and used it.  But Adobe
    has provided methods for someone who has to change or just changes their
    email address if it's their Adobe ID.  You go through the 'deauthorize'
    process and re-authorize under the Adobe ID you wish to use at the time.
    The ebooks you'll be able to see and access were downloaded under that
    Adobe ID.  The others won't show up.
    AFAIK, there is no 'conversion' capability to take ebooks downloaded under
    one ID and change their key to reflect the new ID.

  • Cannot change the email address where Apple sends "help for resetting info dealing with security questions".  Won't allow change.

    I have forgotten the answer to one of two My Apple ID security questions.  Apple has supplied the solution to that problem online in Edit Your Apple ID.   I would be happy to follow those instructions, except......the only email address the Edit Your Apple ID page will allow me is one that has not been functional for over a year.  There are no options for changing that recovery email address since I only have two security questions, not three, as Apple specifies. Neither can I find an option for switching to the two-stage verification process---although I would rather not do this.  I recently edited my email addresses in My Apple ID on my Sony Vaio laptop in an effort to alleviate the problem, but it didn’t help. I use the Apple ID on an iPad (4th gen Wi-Fi + Cellular MM) and two iPhone 5 (IOS 8).  Does anyone have suggestions? Feel that I've read through all the fine print and cannot locate an answer.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

    Hi, Sony is correct with regards to different accessories being avaible in different countries......with regards to the magnetic charger have you looked at other forms of purchasing it from other retailers for instance Amazon or eBay etc?
    Not 100% sure which online retailers are available where you live but i'm sure there must be some retailers offering it.
