Email addresses in Mail into Address Book

Is there a quick way to export all the email addresses from my emails stored in Mail into my Address Book?
Thanks in advance,
Jamie

For addresses you've sent to, you can go to Window - Previous Recipients, then highlight multiple addresses and click "Add to Address Book".
For addresses that have sent mail to you, multiple-highlight the messages, and go to Message - Add Senders to Address Book.

  • Is there a quick way to get email addresses from Mail into Address Book?

I would like to collect the email addresses that pop up when I start to type email addresses into the "To" area and transfer them into my Address Book, but have no idea where they are stored. Is this possible and if so is there a quick way to do it.
    Thank you

I think I figured it out... I went into Apple Mail > Window > Previous Recipients and now im adding the ones not in my address book into my address book.
It seems relatively easy... Apple, this is why I love you.

  • Adding Email Addresses from Mail to Address Book

I send out a lot of emails that I would like to save in my address book. Address Book automatically sorts the address by first name or last name. This makes it virtually impossible to locate daily or hourly all the emails that you saved to your Address Book. Especially when your Address Book has over 3,000 addresses. Is there anyway to save email addresses using Mail directly to a Group in the Address Book?
    Thank you.

    Welcome to the discussions, Big.
If you select an address in an email message you can drag it and drop it onto a group in Address Book, making a new contact and adding it to the group in a single operation. You can't do this from Mail's Previous Recipients window, though you can use the PR window, ordered by date, to see who you sent email to three days ago - but not hourly.

  • How do I import addresses from Word into Address Book?

I have all my addresses formatted as a label document in Word (so I can print on Avery labels). How can I import this information into Address Book?

You will need to convert the file so it appears something like this:
    LastName<tab>FirstName<tab>Address<tab>City<tab>State<tab>Zip
    Aalberg<tab>The<tab>3451 Avon Way<tab>Burbank<tab>CA<tab>91564
    Jones<tab>Sam<tab>11112 First Ave. NW<tab>Atlanta<tab>GA<tab>30022
The above is the general format required. The typical way of doing address labels in Word is to create a mailmerge database that would be formatted like the above. Then you create a mailmerge document in which the fieldnames on the top line of the database are inserted in the desired format. You then create the output file by doing a mailmerge. Apparently you are doing it the brute-force way.
I hope this makes it clearer for you.

  • Transferring emails from mac mail into contacts

I am assembling an email list for a survey.  How do I extract emails from my Mac Mail into Contacts or a .csv file?

I am using Mac Mail via Yahoo.

  • Why Can't I slide email addresses from MAIL to ADDRESS BOOK :-(

    Am I missing something?
Why can't I slide all the email addresses from an email to a group in my Address Boob. I am shocked that this is not easily possible.
Am I missing the easy way to do this?

In addition to the suggestions, [Mails Scripts|http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html] has an applescript that will collect all the addresses in an email and give you the option to select a subset and save to a group or make a new group.

  • Cant add email addresses from mail to address book

I click to add the email to Address Book and and empty new card is started with none of the info.

So apple changed the name of the Address Book. You don't have to be a jerk about it. IT IS ML. Anyone who actually wants to help, try and answer this?

  • How do you add multiple addresses from Mail to Address Book at once?

So let's say I receive an email to myself and 50 other recipients and I want to add those other recipients to my address book. Do I seriously have to go through and select "Add to Address Book" on each of the fifty contacts?! Tried doing a shift click which will highlight all contacts, but then when you right-click to get the "add to address book option" it only displays one single contact at the top of the menu. I know there is a way to add select and add multiple contacts to address book at once because I figured out how to do it once a long time ago and I still have the 67 card group to prove it. I just can't remember how I did it!!! Didn't think it'd be such a hard feature to re-discover. Would love some help on this! Thanks.

there is no built-in way to do this. the only way i know is by using Mail Scripts
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
it has a script "Add addresses" that does just what you want.

  • Strange problem with auto-fill addresses in mail and address book

There's an entry in my address book (version 4.0.6) that keeps adding a first name to an entry. I keep deleting it and somehow the first name keeps getting added. I suspected that Mail (2.1.3) was using auto-fill or LDAP to take the name it remembered in Mail and put it in Address Book by associating the email address, so I turned off LDAP and auto-fill and the problem still persists.
As an aside, I use mobileme to sync two macs (Address Book) and a pc (Outlook) so I really want to clear up this problem so the phantom entry does not keep getting transfered to all databases.
Should I delete some cache or something? One other problem (unsure if it's related) is that my Mail application always ask for my keychain password on startup - I have tried the keychain repair app and it seemed to work once, though this problem persists, as well.
    Thank you in advance!

Yes. the dot in front makes it invisible.
    Show hidden files...
Open the terminal and type or copy/paste:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
Reverting to the default of NOT showing hidden files:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false
Reboot or Force Finder quit needed for either change to show.
I'd move them both to the Desktop then reboot, if it works fine then you can Trash them.

  • Adding address from Mail to Address Book as a Group

I receive email as part of a group, or multiple email addresses. I want to add everyone to my address book as a group.
Do I have to add each individual and then drag them into the group?
I mean if my church choir director sends email to the choir and it shows all the emails, can I just add al my choir mates to my address book and a new Group in my address book?

OK here is the solution to the fix. I simply deleted the account in address book and set it up again.
    Working like a charm now.

  • Right Click/Ctrl Click Addresses in Mail and Address Book

I used to be able to right click an email address in a mail message to copy just the address - now that action copies the entire entry: "FirstName LastName <[email protected]>" - so this handy feature is now gone.
Rt Click/Ctrl Click on the email address in Address Book used to bring up 'New Message' in a pop-up menu, this feature is gone too.

Terrific! Thanks for the speedy response. Here's the important part of that post, for posterity:
I did some digging and found a very relevant preference setting, AddressesIncludeNameOnPasteboard.
    1) Quit Mail
    2) Go to your Terminal, and copy and paste the following command (all on one line).
defaults write com.apple.mail AddressesIncludeNameOnPasteboard -bool NO
    3) Open Mail
When you open Mail again, copying addresses will be back to the 10.5 behavior.

  • Putting names and address in Mail's address book

Over many years, I'd have to say that I have almost never been able to make changes in the Mail Address Book without outside help. Well, this time is no different, HELP!
How do I add a name and number to Address Book? Don't refer me to Apples's instructions, because they didn't help, first all because I couldn't get to Address Book.

You have the ability to view an Address Panel in Mail, but it just allows you to view your contact, not edit them.
To edit contact you need to open the Contacts app (it's not called Address Book anymore).  If the Contacts app is not in your Dock you should be able to find it in your Applications folder.

  • Best way to import addresses from outook into address book?

is there a way to import a csv file in its entirety?
    thanks!

Address Book can import a tab delimited or CSV text file. Open Address Book, select Address Book Help from the Help menu, search for: import.
Or you can try a third-party utility such as AB Transfer - 2.1a (VersionTracker or MacUpdate) to assist in transferring datafiles.

  • Drag and drop from mail to address book not happening

Hi guys, I can no longer drag email addresses from Mail into Address Book. The address just bounces back. I've repaired permissions, installed the latest security update, repaired permissions again, rebooted twice. Any ideas?
    Mail 4.5. Address Book 5.0.3 (883). Mac OS 10.6.8. MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram, 666MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

Hi mbriscoe, I've since upgraded to Lion and the same downgrade of functionality exists. I can no longer drag and drop an address from Mail into Address Book. I now have to click name, wait for menu, select Add to Address Book, go into Address Book and find the name I just added, then drag the name into the specific group I want it to be in. It used to be very useful, the drag and drop, in an "it just works" kind of way. Now it's not.

  • How do I add bulk emails to a group in Address Book?

I'd love to figure out how to quickly capture a bulk emailing list and add all of them to an Address Book GROUP at once.
This list would be either -
In the TO: field - from an email I received
    - or -
In the TO: field - of an email I am sending (reply all)

Is there ANY WAY to drag and drop individual (or multiple) email addresses from Apple Mail into address book as New Entries into a specific GROUP?
If Apple Mail can't do it - is there any email program that does allow drag and drop new entries into a specific GROUP?
NOTE - There IS Select All/RightClick/AddToAddressBook - but those go into the general directory.

So far, FWIW all I've got is individual AddToAddressBook, then in AB itself, drag and drop one by one from the main list into the desired group.
