Email and BBM not working

Hi,
My email services and Blackberry messenger are still not working, despite the fact that the disruptions of last week have apparently been fixed. However, I am able to access the internet.
On the setup menu it says that there are two email accounts, but when I click on it, it says that there are no activated accounts and there is only the option for enterprise activation. The Blackberry and 3G sign at the top of the screen are present and in capitals. I have tried pulling out the battery and rebooting. I have re-registered with the host routing table. I have also called my carrier (t-mobile), who have said it is not a problem with them.
It's been over a week now that my phone hasn't been functioning properly. Can someone please help?
Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! But, I am distressed by one thing...

For them to successfully fob you off that way is, IMHO, inexcusable. Regardless of where the root of the problem is (e.g., the RIM network or the carrier network), your carrier remains responsible for ALL of your services and support. After all, you pay them every month for your services...they are not delivering those services. Only they have the ability to seek for you any support from RIM...you have no direct channel to RIM...only via escalation from TM can you get support from RIM. It is so sad that so many CSR's at carriers are responding like this and fobbing their paying customers off. I encourage you to ring them back up and impress upon them that your service and support contract is with them...and they are responsible for providing that support and service, including escalation into RIM if necessary.
Good luck!

My blackberry was bought in October 2010 so its not old, from an o2 shop, it was working completely fine and great up until about 1 month ago.
i was trying to get onto the internet and a message came up saying 'unable to connect to server please contact service provider or try again later' or something similar to that.
from this appeared my phone is no longer receiving or sending any emails from or to anyone at all and my blackberry messenger has also stopped working.

my phone says its connected to the internet and wifi, at the top of the screen the signal is full and it says EDGE most of the time or sometimes GPRS. i dont know what's wrong but its so annoying

Hi, I'd recommend checking to make sure that you still have a Blackberry Data Plan by contacting your Network Provider (i.e O2)

  • Curve 8520- email and bbm not working

    Hello,
Over a month ago i started having this problem with my blackberry curve. My bbm wont send or receive messages, at all. So I deleted my only contact which was hubby, and tried to add him again, but the request is just pending and he hasnt gotten a message to accept me at all. Soon after my emails stopped working as well as facebook. I could not send nor receive emails. I might also mention that I have a wi-fi conection working, i can use the browser and all, but the wi=fi symbol doesnt light up, it just stays dull.
So i deleted the email account I had on the phone and took it into the vodafone shop I got it in. I received the phone back this week with a latter telling me they could not find these problems and that the phone had been updated and was fixed.
It was not. So i pluged it into my laptop, tried updating and all that, also brought £10 credit incase that was the problem. Still nothing. Emails, BBM and facebook are things I use often on my phone and I would love it if anyone had any suggestions, maybe I have my settings wrong?

Hello Amy and welcome to the Community!
Its pretty hard to understand how you lost the Blackberry Service. Kindly contact your Carrier and check if your BIS is active. You should also check if your data coverage is ON and the wireless service indicator appear as GPRS/EDGE. These indicators appear in uppercase if the BIS is up and goes back to lowercase when you lose the service.

  • Email service blocked and BBM not working on BB torch slide

    HI.
I have real issues with my phone. First, my BBM stopped working, so I thought it was the bbm rim server because all other applications were working(whatsapp, email, facebook etch). Then I stopped receiving emails. Again, I didn't take it too seriously until I tried to send emails and a red cross appears with a message saying "service Blocked".
At this point, it is strange cause my browser works and my facebook. What really got me pissed was that my whatsapp stopped working as well, and I'm no longer on my mobile service plan, I'm using wifi at home. I was two seconds away from resetting my phone when it occured to me that it might not solve the problem.
I have looked at other possible solotions online and my phone does not have the advance system settings or the enterprise activation menu. I don't know what to do, HELP!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Some clarification is needed...I cannot tell exactly if your device is a BES-enabled one or not...if it is, then stop now and seek support from your BES admins as they control, well, everything.
If you are not BES, then with a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Then again...
    misskedia wrote:

If, by that, you mean that you have allowed your mobile service plan to expire, then that could explain everything. There are many services on BBs that are proprietary, and access to them requires subscription to an adequate data plan from your provider, regardless of the channel you use them through. Even if you only use WiFi as your connection pathway, you still must have an adequate data plan from your carrier in order to do many things, including email and BBM.
So if that's the case, then it explains everything...sometimes, when a data plan is allowed to expire, it takes the carrier a few days (sometimes longer) to "catch up" and shut things down that you are not paying them for.
    Good luck!

  • Won't connect to server - hotmail and BBM not working.

    Hey BB Community,
I have two problems which I think may be connected through my phone's inability to connect to the server.
    - First off, my contacts can't receive my BBM messages. I can write and send them off but they aren't received.
    - Secondly, my email account (hotmail) is not working on my BB. It's supposedly connected and logged in, yet I don't receive any mails on my phone, nor do contacts receive anything I send. When I try to access my email account options, a message pops up stating "Your device had a problem connecting to the server."
Everything was working fine before I had to duplicate my SIM card (it was scratched somehow) and battery.
So my question is, how do I reconnect my BB to the server?
    Would appreciate the help, thanks.

  • Droid Mini notifications for email and text not working

I am having a problem with notification sounds not working for email and text messages with my Droid Mini. I took my original phone to the Verizon shop. They did a factory reset. Sound worked for two days. Went back to Verizon and they reset it again. But they did tell me if it happened again to call Verizon and they would send me a new phone. Well it happened again. Got my new phone just last week. Well yesterday and today the sound notifications for text messages and email is not working on the new phone.  Last night I powered the phone off and back on and all was working well until this morning.
This is very upsetting as I really do like this phone. Would like to know what is going on with it. Have checked all the volumes and they are all up.
Is there a fix for this.
    Thank you.
    Barbara

For Gmail it is: open Gmail > menu > settings > your gmail address > notifications check box is unchecked.
There are some additional notification options for labels too.

  • Internet and BBM not working what so ever!!! *HELP*

I purchased the blackberry bolt on on friday and the £5.00 was deducted from my balance. My Internet and BBM however never activated or started to work. The signal appears in lower case as "edge" and "gprs". I have contacted o2 and went through all connection settings on the phone. Everything is correct. When i sent a registration message it says "registration message sent" but i never receive a reply. I updated all software and reset the phone completely yet no luck. I also went into o2 and they also are unable to help. I am waiting to hear back from o2 Support but this may take up to 72hours. My o2email tells me my device has been "suspended or deactivated". My brother gave me the blackberry as he use to have a contract on it but he has now upgraded to an iPhone. He has no arrears on the account or bill so there should be no reason for the phone not to connect
can anyone please help me as i have tried everything!!!!!!!!!
My phone is a curve blackberry 8520

    Hey weeuna,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
If you're receiving lower case edge or gprs that means you only have voice only services and no data.  I would suggest   removing the battery and placing it back in and if the issue still persists then I suggest trying a new SIM card.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

I always use my phone for email and internet and have it connected to the wifi in my house, two days ago it just stopped working. When I try to send an email It says service blocked and the internet just says unable to connect, Ive checked the connections and it says full connected, Ive also tried different wifi locations wirh no success.

That's actually good, you are connected to BIS via your WiFi connection.
    1) Register HRT: (OS5) Home Screen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scroll to any line entry and > press the Menu key > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table, etc.
    2) Resend Service Books: Article ID: KB02830 How to send the service books for a BlackBerry Internet Service account. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
    3) Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

  • Cisco Unity Device notification SMTP, email and text not working

Client has Unity 1.x.  I know it's pretty old.  BUt looking at alot of documentation, the device notification concept is similar.
Currently the users are unable to recieve text notification or email notification.
    I follwed the following steps:
    1. configured the unity connection server to relay messages to a Smart host. In this link.  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/1x/administration/guide/acm150.html#wp1042694
    2. I ocnfigured the user's device notification for SMTP.  I put the user's email address.
    3. I tried to set it up for text messaging and that did not work also.
Can someone please help me out.  What am i doing wrong?

I use [email protected] to forward emails to my phone . . . it gives me most of the message in the email, rather than just the subject line and maybe a word or two of the message.
Emails should be sent to your10-digit [email protected] or @vzwpix.com

  • AEBS has green light but email and internet not working

I have an AEBS (second hand) connected to my cable modem. I used an ethernet cable and manual settings to set up as Utility wouldn't detect the AEBS wirelessly to start off with. Under internet settings in Utility I have selected Connect Using Ethernet and Configure IPv4 Manually and entered all the same settings I have in the MacBook for my modem. The AEBS light went green, Utility says setup was successful and the MacBook recognised the new network and connected to it, so I have all the bars black on the Airport icon on my top menu bar, and also the network showing with a green light in system preferences. But email and internet still won't go - just spinning wheels and exclamation marks! They're fine when I connect the modem direct to the MacBook so it's not a modem fault. I have tried restarting modem, MacBook and AEBS to no avail. Any advice most gratefully received, I'm very much a novice a this!

I know that you have already attempted to restart the various pieces of networking equipment, but please try the following complete power recycle steps to see if this gets the AEBS to be able to communicate properly with the modem.
When changing ISPs (or networking equipment) it's always a good idea to start from "scratch" in configuring your equipment.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.

I m on t-mobile network and every now and then instead of saying 't-mobile' at the top of my phone it says 't-mobile and orange' with a small red triangle. In those cases you're roaming, it appears so set your Mobile network > Data Services to Data On while roaming, unless you're going to incur extra charges.
sounds like you're in a weak Tmobile signal area at those times.
