Email app icons difficult to read in iOS 7

My mother in law.has vision problems but loves her ipad for sending and receiving mail. When she upgraded to iOS 7 she complained she could no longer see the icons at the top of the screen (reply, delete etc) as they are faint light blue,
I have tried changing accessibility settings but it still is not clear, and the change colour scheme choices are horrendous.
Can a future update restore the icons to black, or give us the option of customizing?

No idea what Apple may do. But you can bold the font and play with the contrast to help her.
There have been several people with vision issues complaining about iOS7. If you want you can send Apple feedback  http://www.apple.com/feedback/
They don't read comments here or log them.

Is there a way to set a password on the email app to prevent anyone that picks up my phone from reading or accessing my email?

It's interesting that you don't have anything on your iPhone other than email that you wouldn't want a thief to see. And hiding the mail app won't stop the thief, anyway, because they can just use Spotlight search to find the app.

Java is not supported on iPads. Does your provider have a non-Java version or have their own app, or could you use the Mail or a third-party email app for it ?

That situation went from inconvenient to complicated quickly.  Wait for any pending orders to drop off, wait for things to clear up, wait till your upgrade comes up and then upgrade when your contract is fulfilled.  I would have suggested a replacement phone, I know, with only a month left why couldn't you just upgrade early, but these situations where people try to upgrade early always end horribly and once a phone order starts, it almost cannot finish until something winds up shipped received and returned.  Sorry this happened the way it did.  Definitely not efficient.

For anyone else reading this thread, it is worth knowing that sometimes an email is, or can be, corrupted thereby jamming the works. The solution above is good, but I just wanted to suggest another one.
If the problem arises, go to an online mail access service, such as Mail2Web.com and login to you mail account there and delete the offending message.
    Problem solved.
And George, as this is all entirely voluntary, whinging about no takers may not endear people to you. Besides which, a few minutes of searching on Google would have found you a number of solutions.

  • Since updating to iOS 6.0.1, email app will not open and other problems.

Help! Since updating my phone to iOS 6.0.1, my email app will not open, my email/contacts/calendar settings will not open, my touchscreen is unresponsive, my battery is draining in two hours time, and my delete button only works one letter at a time (can't hold down to delete easily). I've done a soft reset and I've restored twice to no avail. This is a MAJOR problem! I'm not wanting to pay for the apple care since this may result in upgrading to the iPhone 5 (last option) and the closest apple store is an hour and a half from me.

This seems to be a common problem.
    I am suffering too!
It would seem to be very shoddy from apple to allow such problems.
Not the first issue since upgrade to iOS 6.....think home button problems.
Has anybody got news of a fix?

  • Moving App icons iOS 7

Cannot move app icons from one page to another when syncing. Dragging moves pages, not icons in iOS 7.

I had problem trying to drag icons to another page at first: they just slipped back.  Then discovered you need to pause a bit when you have dragged them to the end of the screen: only then does the second screen appear and the icon slips into its new place.

    Can anyone help please?

Have you checked to see if the Apps have been placed in an App folder?
Try swiping down from the middle of the screen so the search bar appears. Type the name of the App and if the App appears it is indeed on your phone.
You could also try restarting your device by holding the power and home button until the Apple logo appears.

  • IOS - Can you manually adjust badge on app icon?

My app is just a brochure. Users can download compatible files to view (DOC, PPT, PDF, XLS, MP4, etc). If a newer version of a previously downloaded file is available I'd just like to update the badge icon on the app to alert the user their downloaded resources have updates.
So far all I see as a way to update a badge icon (outside previous ANEs that are said to be malfunctioning) is the new AIR 3.4 push notification updates. I see you can register to receive PUSH and if RemoteNotifier receives a notification event of type RemoteNotificationEvent.TOKEN it can adjust the badge?
I only wish to set the app icons badge number manually from inside the app, after I determine if there's any resources that need updating. I don't need push services. Is there an easy means that I'm simply not seeing to adjust the badge, such as somehow faking a RemoteNotificationEvent.TOKEN event or any classes I'm not seeing inside flash.notifications.*?
    Thanks for any tips!

You are mostly correct except the fact that on iOS, the OS may handle the notification and application may never get to know about it.RemoteNotificationEvent.NOTIFICATION is fired only in following two scenarios:
The application was in foreground when remote notification was received.
The application was not in foreground when notification was received and as a result of the presented notification, the user taps the action button of the alert.
If the notification is delivered when the application isn’t running in the foreground, the system presents the notification, displaying an alert, badging an icon, perhaps playing a sound. And hence the event will not be dispatched. In other words, this event will NEVER be fired if application was in background(sleeping/dead) and user ignores the notification.
Please refer to http://blogs.adobe.com/airodynamics/2012/05/29/push-notifications-support-in-ios/ for more details.

  • HT4623 I have a 1st generation iPad &recently updated to iOS 5.1, but I can't find my AppStore app icon! Help!

I have a 1st generation iPad and recently updated to iOS 5. However, I can't find my AppStore app icon now. Like it's disappeared!
How do I get the icon back?

Do your have Restrictions turned on?  Settings>General.
If that's not it, scroll to the left until you get to the search page.  enter "App Store", does this find the app?  If so, then the icon is lost on some later page or is in some folder.

  • Ios email app does not support user name with multiple "."

I have two gmail email addresses and have both set up on my ipad, however the ios email app cannot connect to the gmail server for one of the two accounts. Account settings are strictly identical and connection from the Gmail app works fine. The only difference I could find between the two accounts is that the one with connection issues uses a format of "[email protected]" whereas the one that works fine is "[email protected]". Is it a known bug that the ios app does not support the first format?
    Thanks

Yes, double dots/periods are not allowed.

  • After I upgraded my Iphone 4 to iOS 6 my email app won't open.

Can anyone tell me how to fix my iphone 4 so that the email app will open?  It opens to a blank, white screen for about a minute then closes.

There is no supported method to downgrade iOS.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Find my friends Icon disappeared after upgrade to ios 8. I tried restarting as well as reinstalled the app but its not working. I can find it in Usage, but not in spot light. Pla help!!

I have exactly the same problem on a 4S on iOS 8. Have tried uninstalling, deleting FMF from backup, resetting phone and restoring from backup, but the problem remains. Sometimes the icon appears on a backup Home screen in iTunes, but it never appears on the phone itself. The app is accessible by going to the store, purchases and opening it from there. The app appears to have been running the whole time, but becomes invisible anytime I return to the home screen.
