Email archive accesible from iPad

Hello!
I am in search of a solution which would allow me to access from my iPad an archive (database) in which all my emails (from different accounts) can be imported and stored. I envision something like a Filemaker database on my Mac in which I import all my emails and then I can access from the iPad using e.g. FM to Go. There is a software out there (MalSteward), which does the archive job, but there are no plans on extending this to an iPad client (personal contact with the developer). It can export mail to SQL though...
Any ideas will be appreciated!

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I tried Dropbox, but the transfer failed a dozen times.  (it was plugged in.)
I tried Image Capture, but it wouldn't import the video either.
And iPhoto doesn't work either.
I tried to connect with Bluetooth, but it wouldn't do that either.
I resorted to considering email, but the "Share" email automatically clips into about 1 minute clips; that's alot of work for a 50 min video.  I can't figure out how to take longer clips, and the iPad user guide online says nothing about how to do this.
Doesn't anyone else out there take video on their iPad and then want to transfer it to their Mac?  (Maybe not,I only did a long video because I forgot my video camera.)
Thanks.

  • Emails being sent from iPad gets truncated

    Device : iPad1
    iOS      : 6.0.1
When email is sent out from iPad the view from Outlook is truncated, when we open on iPhone it looks ok.
We already updated the iOS to the latest version but its still the same.
If the email is forwarded using Outlook/iPhone or other devices the email is ok. Issue is only happening when its forwarded or sent from iPad.
    no error messages received.
We have tried to update iOS, refreshed mail, and reconfigured the email settings but still the same.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The problem is with your email provider. I suspect someone has hacked your account because  you use the same password for most of your online work. You should change your password and not use the same password for most of your on-line accounts, most  people are lazy and don't use different passwords because they can't remember them all. You should begin changing your passwords and using a password management tool to help you remember. If you need help choosing one Google "OS X Password Managers" to find some reviews.

  • Sending email to groups from iPad/iPhone

Do all the contacts in the group have a valid email address? What does the server complain about exactly (without revealing the actual email addresses)?

  • TS1398 sending emails (wi-fi) from ipad 4

I'm unable to send emails from my optus email whilst connected to another wi-fi network even though I can access the internet and receive emails.

Some internet service providers either restrict mail sending to their own network or require different settings (usually including authentication and/or encryption) when sending from other networks.
Another possibility is that the other wi-fi network places restrictions on outbound email, requiring it to go either through their own servers or through authenticated ports on external mail servers.
Ask Optus support for the appropriate settings for authenticated off-network email and adjust your iPad settings accordingly. That should address either set of restrictions.

  • Email photo album from iPad

Can I e-mail a Photo "Album" from my iPad.  If "yes," please explain how to attach it.
    thanks

Have you checked your email account settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars ? Also have you tried logging into your account via a browser to check if your provider is performing maintenance and/or whether they have changed any of their settings ?
You could also try turning the account off and on and see if that makes any difference : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'

How do you delete archive mail on a mini ipad?

If this is part of a gmail account (not an Apple email account), then all "deleted" email goes to the archive box.
go to settings->mail contacts calendars -> choose your email account -> and turn archive messages to off.

  • How to archive iMessage from iPad

iMessages take up over 4GB on my iPad, and of course iPhone and Mac too.  Before upgrading to iOS8, I need to free up some space on the iPad and iPhone.  How?  For example, can I archive some of them to Mac for off-line view?

Try the computer apps PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac & PC):

  • Why does emailing a song from iPad Garageband distort the music?

When using Garageband for iPad (which is amazing by the way), when I export to iTunes, the sound is perfect.  When I use the email export function, I find that there are almost always often distortions, artifacts, or ommissions.
My process is usually to make the song, make a screenshot, switch to photoshop, rotate the screenshot, go to Photos, copy the screenshot, return to Garageband, export to email, wait for the encoding to take place, paste the photo beneath the song in the email, then send the email (usually to posterous).
If I export through my mac in iTunes it seems to work flawlessly.

I've found that the AAC file exported through iTunes or through email are exactly the same... however... I've noticed this: Sometimes when I first boot up iPad garageband and start playing a song, I get distortion, dropped notes or ends of notes. If I stop the song, rewind and play again, it sounds fine. Just recently I booted up garageband and WITHOUT opening or playing the song, I exported the AAC (.m4a) file to iTunes and also emailed it to myself. Both versions had chopped notes, stuttering, etc. throughout the whole song!!! On a hunch, I went back to garageband, opened the song and played it. Sure enough, at the beginning it played like sh*t. When I touched the 'go to beginning' button and played again, it played fine. I then closed the song and exported as the above procedure. Both files played fine!
Maybe it's my earbuds but the imported songs sound duller than when listening to the originals on the iPad.

  • Not possible to setup icloud email filter rules from ipad

Users on ipads with icloud for email appear to have no way to set or edit their email filter rules, as this functionality is not provided via any mail app menu, and attempts login and edit these via webmail is not possible since Apple has set  icloud.com to intercept and disallow ipad web browser logins.   Is there a workaround or do we just direct people over to gmail?

No, there is no workaround available. Unfortunately, you would have to use a PC or Mac in order to sign in to the web portal www.cloud.com.

Yes. Go into your contacts, open that contact, choose to 'share' the contact, then that should get you to the email interface where you can mail it.

  • Can I search email archive on iCloud server from iOS device, or can I only search what it has downloaded locally?

Can I search email archive on iCloud server from iOS device, or can I only search what it has downloaded locally?
I currently have an iPhone and iPad, and am soon changing over to a Mac. When that happen I'd like to try to see what I can migrate over from the Google ecosystem to the iCloud ecosystem.
    1) Currently I have the Gmail iOS app (a webapp container) that can search server-side of several years of email archive.  Can iCloud do this using the iOS native mail application?  Or is the search just limited to what the device has downloaded locally?
    2) Do I have to use a @me.com address for the full iCloud email sync to take place between server, Mac, and iOS devices?
Believe it or not I've read quite a bit about the iCloud services, but the answers to these questions were far from clear.  Many thanks for the help.

    2)  iCloud only syncs email between .me/.mac addresses.  For other accounts like google, you set up the account in the mail app and if they're IMAP accounts, you can sync between the google server and any devices you have defined that account on.
I'm not absolutely sure about 1) since I haven't had to search going back years - I use MailSteward for that on the mac.  On my iPhone/iPad, when I go into a mailbox and the emails are not immediately available, it downloads them.  I suspect for a search, you need the emails downloaded.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Sometimes deleting the account and then re-creating it can solve this issue
Write down all the information in accounts before doing this
Highlight the account on the left and click the minus button
Then click the plus button to add the new account and follow the prompts
