Email attachment and text/plain
Well, the Mail app on iPhone really needs improvement.
I've got my iPhone for 4 days only, and I already have 3 things (at least) that IMHO need to be improved:
1. Someone forwarded me an email, and that email now appears as an .eml attachment, which iPhone seems to be incapable to handle.
2. I friend of mine sent me an email that iPhone is unable to display at all. I get the error message like "Mail does not know how to display text/plain" -- come on guys at apple! Only a few years ago plain text (i.e., ASCII) was the only format! And it is the most easiest to display! ...
3. Spam - the iPhone should have the same spam filter than Mail on my laptop. Oh, and the same rules and folders I have on my laptop, please!

View Solution.Hi there, if there is text in the body of the email it will print automatically when sent to an ePrint email address. The only way to just have the attachment print is for there to be no text in the email body.

Receiving error message using current Maverick version: "Adobe Reader could not open '***.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).". Is fix the same as on previous OS versions?
Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari. -
I had this problem of not being able to open some files a couple of years ago and eventually was able to fix it but i can't remember how. Any help would be grateful.

Why can't I open a pdf file on my desktop? Tried to download Firefox 4 for Macintosh three time and could not prevent Adobe Reader from interfering.

I use a Macbook Pro w/ OS X. I am unable to open a .pdf file downloaded from the internet, Adobe always shows "@Adobe Reader could not open 'cpd39346.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

Receive an email attachment and process it

could you please explain me, how can I process an email attachment, that comes into XI? My scenario is follows: I receive a mail with attachment into XI, search in attachment to which email this message should be forward and forward the modified message to receiver.
I' ve done successful the similar scenario with java mapping, where an incoming IDOC was parsed and mapped to mail message with attachment. Outgoing mail structure was in this case follows:

Now I try to repeat this, but I don't get such incoming structure from pipeline. I always see there two payloads: mailMessage and mailAttachment. Could anybody tell me, how have I to configure send channel to get such structure by receiving a mail into xi in xi payload? Is it possible? if no, than how can I handle with attachment of incoming mail message?

Try to do this:
Send an email to the email account configured in the mail sender adapter, but avoid XI to pick it up. Instead, downloaded with your mail client (webmail or something like outlook). There should be an option to see the mail in RAW format, with all headers and content, sometimes refered as "original message". And try to find the headers related to the attachment, like the ones below as stated in the blog. Maybe in your case the header is a different one and payloadswapbean should be configured differently. And also be sure that your attachment is already in XML, if not, XI will not be able to send it to the integration engine for mapping.

Nokia e63 save email attachment as text file
When I receive email with text document attached and select save, it is always saved in office notes. While this is probably a reasonable thing to do, the problem is that I cannot find the saved file using file manager. So this text document becomes unavailable for other installed programs. Answers to following questions would help mightily:
1. How to save email attachment to specified folder (any attachment)?
2. How to save note from Menu->Office->Notes to some specified folder?
3. Where Menu->Office->Notes stores the notes? (Active Notes stores them in folder called ActiveNotes in root folder)
4. Is it possible to remove this program, since its features are completely covered by Active notes?The email client saves attachments to the folder Others if you choose 'save' from the menu. Notes cannot be individually accessed, they're a some kind of database hidden deep into your phone. To save your note to some folder the only thing you can do is copy and paste it to Quick Office and save it from there.
You can't remove the Notes program. I've moved all my notes to Active Notes and use the memory card to store them. As you said, Active Notes does all that Notes does, and more. Notes just starts up a few milliseconds faster

Removing extra spaces from email attachment of text file
Hi All,
I am having a question in opening email attachment file in text mode.
Whenever I am trying to open a CSV file in text mode after each row it adds blank spaces. These blank spaces are to complete the 255 characters on each row I guess.
My client doesn't want these space. So can anybody tell how to remove those spaces?

There is no solution for this as u know that the data which you r sending in csv its actually getting populated from an internal table.
You cannot make your internel table dynamic for this requirment.
It should have a fixed length. Now if the data is less then also the length.
So u have identified correct that because of 255 the blank space is population, nothing is in your hand.
U have to convince the client, to make them understand where is the limitation.

Differentiate b/w email attachment and an email signature image attachment
Hello all,
I have a java program which checks a particular mailbox periodically for new messages sent by users and once there is a new message, it processes that message and copies that message to a particular record. Also if there are any attachments associated with that email, it will take those attachments and attach them to the particular record. All this is working fine. But when a user who is sending an email has an image as part of his email signature, that image is coming as an attachment to my mailbox and my code is picking up that attachment and appending it to the record as a new attachment. Is there a way to differentiate between the normal attachments that a user sends and the email signature image so that I can check for those image attachments before attaching to my record. Any help is greatly appreciated.There's no standard for these sorts of "email signatures" so there's no guaranteed way to detect them.
A common way to format such a message would be to put the message text as a text/html part
inside a maultipart/related part, with an image/jpeg part containing the image.
Normally attachments should be part of a multipart/mixed part, and should have a Content-Disposition
of "attachment".
But many mailers play fast and loose with these rules, so you may have to experiment with some
heuristics to detect such signatures reliably.
