Email attachment auto download
Hi,
i have recently connected my phone with my company email so that i can read it when im on the go. I realised after i open up the email the attachment download automatically which i do not want to download. I have ever downloaded attachment which is more than 50mb when im using my local cellular data without any of my permission to download it. It will cost a bomb to my month end bill which im only entitled for 3gb of data usage per month.
Is there any solutions to disable the auto email attachment download?
Appreciate your input.
Thanks and best regards,
Daren
If Excel works as do other apps, you should be able to tap and hold on the attachment and then select "Open in Excel" in the window that will open. Note that you need to be subscribed to and signed into Office 365 to be able to edit documents in Microsoft's apps.
Regards.

Email attachment download shows "invalid menu handle"
I click on an email attachment, the download box appears in top left corner and starts downloading then a rectangular box appears in middle of screen saying "invalid menu handle" and download won't open.
Not the same thing. Google "Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility". The first hit will be what you need (on the Microsoft site).

Does anybody else see where email attachments are now always auto-download on all devices. The policy option was phased out in 5.0 but the default at that time was no (to auto-download). Now they all auto-download.
1. PDF will not display because they must stay as attachment to render on Blackberry device. Says
“This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device”
2. Phone messages attached as voicemail.wav - first one works, but since no longer the "Preview" option second says "Fielname exists - Rename?" Some devcies you can save and go back - others you can't.Surely there's an expert on this forum who can help?

I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and I have used them several times and all of a sudden they wont open. I received an error message saying they are improperly downloaded or came as an email attachement which is not the case. Please advise
They seem to be word files - they will open if I choose "open with" microsoft word, but if I double click they don't open they are appearing as PDF on my screen. I even opened one and then tried to "save as" making sure I chose .doc and they still appear as PDF
I just created a new document response.doc in word and when I saved to my desktop it appears as a PDF file and I absolutely did not create a PDF or save as PDF it was a simple word
doc.
The message says "Adobe reader could not open response.doc because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example attached in an email and not properly decoded)
The reader version is I believe the most current, I always update when prompted. OS is Windows 8 -
When I download an attachment, it doesn't open in a new window. It goes to my finder, but I must click on an email attachment at least 3 times in order to find it there. Is there a way to change the preferences to simply open attachment in a new window?

only Open,Add in reading list & Copy options showing
Do you have some solution for thisHello jlremington and welcome to the forums
Depending on the email integration type and software running on the device
will determine if you are able to use this feature. Can I get the version
of software that is on the device? This can be found under Options -
About. Also what type of email account are the messages coming
from? Are you using a BES account or BIS account? If your are using a BIS account what type of
integrations are you using? POP, IMAP, OWA, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc…

Auto-Save Email Attachment To Specific Location
Basically, I'm trying to figure out a way to auto-download certain attachments from certain people. I don't want to download ALL the attachments, because often there are logo's, etc included. I just want one, specific attachment. The good news is, the attachment in question always ends with the same characters (so it's easy to ID with a rule). But how then to download it?
I'm assuming the way is then to write an Applescript, and trigger that Applescript with a rule. A while back casdvm posted a solution - which I'll post at the end.
It's a great piece of AppleScript. The problem I'm having is, it works by writing a rule the ID's the particular attachment, by ID'ing the sender themselves...then auto-downloading all attachments to a specific folder. I need to modify this. Either by...
1) Tweaking the Applescript so it filters the attachments-to-be-download (by file size or file type maybe)
2) Using a rule the IDs the attachment actually by IDing the attachment itself...then modifying the AppleScript to work with that method.
Any ideas?
BTW, here's a link to the post I read:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1766128&tstart=0
Here's the AppleScript..
Save this script somewhere you can find it:
using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages The_Messages
set save_Folder to my GetFolderName()
tell application "Mail" to repeat with This_Message in The_Messages
tell contents of This_Message
if (count (mail attachments)) > 0 then
repeat with an_attachment in (get every mail attachment)
set attsavefile to save_Folder & (an_attachment's name)
save an_attachment in attsavefile
end repeat
end if
end tell
end repeat
end perform mail action with messages
end using terms from
to GetFolderName()
return (path to desktop as text) & "MailAtts:"
end GetFolderName
Then, add a Mail Rule to Run AppleScript whenever a message from that particular sender arrives, choose the above script, and it should work just fine.
This example requires a folder on your desktop entitled MailAtts, so post back if you need any assistance addressing the folder you want to save all the attachments to.
The only other potential snag lies with the file names. If you get a file named Hello.txt one day, and another one with the same name the next day, the newer file will overwrite the older file. That can be overcome with another handler if you think that may be a problem.

How do I download a mp3 email attachment and save it as a ring tone

When you download the MP3 file, open it in iTunes and follow this video's instructions:

No progress to download email attachment - iOS 4.2/4.3, EAS
Dear,
I use iPhone / iPad 4.2 & 4.3 and I couldn't download email attachment. It shows me the graphic which indicates the start of download but it's still 0 byte. It works sometimes when I tried to kill email client and restart it but it can't guarantee the download. use Exchange Active Sync to access corporate email exchange server. No worries.
Now, it's the app developer (in this case it's Skype) who decide what iPhone models he wants to support, it has nothing to do with iTunes or Apple. -
How to turn off email auto download?
Hi All,
I'm running Tiger (10.4) on one hard drive and I'm running Leopard (10.5) on another - working on familiarizing myself and looking for problems. 10.4 uses Mail.app 2.1.3 while 10.5 uses Mail.app 3.5.
With Mail 3.5 - I've been unable to find a way to switch from auto-downloading of emails in favor of "Manual." This "feature" of auto-dowloading emails has always bugged me (a lot). So I use "Manual" downloading with v. 2.1.3. and want the same "sanity" with 3.5.
Secondary problems: I notice that 3.5 cannot verify the certificate of my ISP Pop server and keeps warning me "this may be a fake certificate" and gives me options to "stop" or "connect." Geez, there's no doubt about the SAME certificate when using Mail.app 2.1.3.
Also, it appears that Mail 3.5 is taking "forever" to send (upload) image attachments. I haven't had a chance to really track this down, but it seems like Mail may be converting every .jpg file to .png - which increases file size. I watched the Activity window and saw upload speeds of from 0 to 2.7 kbs - but suddenly the indicator bar jumps ehead and the mail is sent.
Any have any idea how to stop auto-downloading of emails with Mail.app 3.5?
Any further help with those secondary problems will also be appreciated.
TX in advance. Thanks Klaus1 - it's interesting to see that Apple designers still have not caught on to the idea that "icons" for important things need to be distinguishable from one another.
That is, the icon for the overall preferences panel (in 10.4) looks a whole lot like the icon used for Mail 3.5 prefs (in 10.5) and it's located in the same spot as overall prefs on Mail 2.1.5. So I naturally thought the icon on 3.5 was for "overall prefs" and ignored it. Thanks Apple, for letting your employees take so many naps during their work shifts.
You get a "helpful" for your post. Now if I can get responses on the slow upload (on DSL) by Mail.app and figure out why it doesn't recognize my (national based) ISP's certificate, I'll be a happy camper. -
I am interested in downloading email attachment files directly to my App.
Looked at dropbox, pdf reader and other Apps which automatically appear as an option when you are trying to download an attachment in your Ipad email. What kind of method or functions that an App need to include so email programs can recognize it and show as an option when you try to download email attachment?
Please help!I've just installed it on my iMac (also Mt. Lion) but it didn't keep my settings from OpenOffice.org version 3.
By mucking around in the Library, I think I've at least gotten it to use my templates.
There's a user discussion list, and I asked there about this, but so far have not heard back yet.
I've been using Open Office for years, and am quite happy with it; I also have MS office but that's bloated and cumbersome.
Pages (for $10 from the app store) is another interesting alternative for a word processor.

When I try and download an email attachment on safari it goes to parallels and I am not able to open it. What shoul I do?
Redirect the saving of the attachment to a folder of your choice. There is a setting for saving attachment to a specific folder and another that allows you to chose which folder everytime you save an attachment.

Portlets using user interface templates
I was wondering if it is possible for customized HTML portlets and even Struts portlets to use user interface templates? We are wanting to create a template so that all of our portlets will have a consistent look and feel, even application portlets.
