Email attachment Microsoft vs Adobe Reader

I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 notebook and out of the blue when I open an attachment to an email Microsoft Word converts the attachment to unreadable info instead of opening it with Adobe Reader. Anyone have an idea what is going on?
Thanks, Ilene

We have the same problem !
Tested this today with adobe reader 9.5.x , file is attached as  "filename.do.pdf"
If we use adobe reader 11.0.x file is attached as "filename.do"
If you use save file as , it does get the "pdf" extension automatically
Solution appreciated !

  • .pdf is missing when send as email attachment (Outlook) from Adobe Reader 11.0.06

The PDF is streamed from our webserver application to an IFRAME in Internet Explorer 9.
    The headers Content-type (application/pdf), Content-disposition (random-unique-filename.pdf), Content-length are all set.
Acrobat Reader plugin opens up inside the IFRAME and presents the PDF without problems.
When our users try "Send file as email attachment" Outlook 2010 opens up and the file is attached - without the file extension.
The name of the attachment is the same name as the Java Servlet that delivered the streamed file.
If we save the streamed PDF to disc, open it in Acrobat and do the same maneuver - the file extension is added to the attached file name in Outlook.

  • Issue attaching files in Adobe Reader from a form created in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Extended

    Hello all,
I am having issues- big ones- please help!
I have created a simple form in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 extended version that will be made available in a local drive for our salesmen to open not online or in html format- fill in and send back to their manager and the factory- there are 2 e-mail submit buttons on this form and the user selects which one to send to.
This form also has a button for save and for print. Everything works great except that the attach a file button I created. It works in Adobe Acrobat, but not in Reader. When you click the button in Reader it compresses but nothing happens.
I have tried many different things- including extending the rights to adobe reader.
Also, this form has a password protected security and I have given permission to print, to fill in the form and sign existing signature fields. When adding the security I made sure it said compatible with Adobe 3.0 and later versions.
I know I have to do the security before I extend the rights to reader and not the other way around.
Don't know what else to do.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    A.

I've attempted using Acrobat Pro to do the conversion, but it simply won't allow it.  Are there easier ways to have an online or fillable form, created in an Adobe program, such as LiveCycle or Acrobat Pro, sent or saved in a pdf format?
For example: I make a form using an Adobe Program and put it online for people to fill out.  They fill it out and click a button to email it to me.  When I open it, is there a way to see it as a PDF document?
Thank you for your help thus far.  It has been much  more informative than many of the forums I've attempted to decipher.

  • Trouble emailing locked pdf to Adobe Reader user

My staff use a pdf form which I created in Pro to track client progress.  They fill in the form, then lock it using password security and email it to the client.  Some clients who only have Adobe Reader are having trouble as they only get a blank form (not the filled in document) when they open the email attachment.
    Any suggestions?

I have a user who was emailed a pdf file, he opens in Adobe reader and clicks on the envelope to email it. He chooses Outlook and then he receives operation failed and it won't email. He could save it down or forward the email, but should be able to do it straight from the form. I have run the fix and we have even reinstalled reader. Hope this clears it up more. TIA.

  • Extract the Attachment data from Adobe Reader 8

    Hi,
We have a requirement to read the attachment data from adobe pdf. We are designing the PDF's in Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES. From the discussion i understand we can get the name and size of the attachment using dataobjects. But i need the content of the attachment. Let me know if there is any code to extract the attachment data.
    Thanks in advance.

You can read the contents of an attached file using the doc.getDataObjectContents method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.475.html
You'll just have to parse the contents correctly using JavaScript.

  • To read a secure email i must have adobe reader 10 for some reason I can't download it. Help?

My question is i can't seem to download adobe reader version 10. I have a secure email that requires me to have this app to be able to view it.  Is there something else or another product that I canget?

You can't download the installer from Adobe? Or you can get the installer but it won't install? What exactly is going wrong? We need details to be able to offer much in the way of advice, though this problem would probably best be taken up in Adobe's own forums since this appears to be a problem with their product.

  • Thunderbird Email Attachment Error with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

I'm getting the above error when I click on email attachments to open them. This happened ever since I installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, whereas I had the regular Adobe Acrobat Reader prior to it.
How do I make the DC version work with Thunderbird attachments?
    Thanks.

    Hi gmc0351,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused & will try my best to get this issue resolved.
It seems that there is some issue while downloading the PDF file from your Thunderbird. Are you experiencing this issue only with PDF files or other files also like MS office files?
I will also recommend you to Quit Thunderbird & open it gain, then try sending a test mail to your own email address with PDF & MS office file attachments & once you receive the test mail try to download and open the files in the attachment & check if you are still experiencing the same issue or not.

  • Error Viewing Fillable PDF Forms in Adobe Reader on iPhone/iPad

I created a fillable form on a Windows computer in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, but when I open the document from an email attachment in the Adobe Reader app on my iPhone or iPad the top have of the form is blacked out (literally the top half of the document has a black box over it).  I can't see the fields, but if I touch the screen in that area I can edit them.  However, I still cannot see anything in that area.  When I zoom in and out, sometimes the blacked out area will become visible, but when it's done adjusting the zoom levels the blacked out area covers the form again.
I just downloaded the Adobe Reader app today, so it's not an old version.
I tried on an iPhone and an iPad.
I can see the whole form when I open the attachment in Safari, but I want to be able to edit it and see all the fields.
Any suggestions?  Am I doing something wrong?

In case anyone else has this problem, I fixed it...
Situation: I made the fillable form with an existing PDF document, I did not start from scratch.
Solution: I saved the original PDF as a Word document, and then turned on the "paragraph marking" tool in Word.  This revealed that there was a text box hidden at the bottom of the document.  Once I removed the text box, I re-saved the document as a PDF and recreated the form again.  It was kind of a pain, but it solved the problem!

  • Does Ipad adobe reader allow to fill a  dynamic xml form created on LiveCycle?

The form was created using LiveCycle Designer ES3 for the purpose of being filled out on the spot at the client and then submitted as email attachment. However, Adobe reader does not seem to be able to open it giving the following error:
"Please wait... If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document..."
The form is dynamic XML, and in the description of the Adobe Reader for the Ipad, it mentions that it is capable of opening forms under the Livecycle rights.
However, if the Reader can not open dynamic XML's, how can I convert the form into a compatible fillable form for the Ipad?
    Thanks.

LiveCycle Dynamic XML Forms are not supported in the Mobile versions of Adobe Reader.

  • Attaching files to a pdf in Adobe Reader

    Hi
I found these instructions on the web on how to attach a file to a PDF document, however, when i get to step 3 (underlined in the instructions below)  "Click the "Add" button at the top pof the attachment navigation panel to open the "Add Attchment" dialog box.
I do not see an "Add" button available.
I want our users to be able to open our forms and attach scanned documents onto the PDF form in order to submit documentation related to their benefits.  Why do I not see an "Add" button?
How do I get an "Add" button.  The version we are using is Adobe Reader 9.3.  The instructions below are for Adobe 8, but if this can be done in Adobe 8, then i can't imagine it can not be done in Adobe 9.3?
    Thank.

How to Attach a File to a PDF Document
    By an eHow Contributor
I want to do this! What's This?
You can easily attach files to your Adobe Acrobat PDF document by using the attachment navigational panel. This panel allows you to quickly attach any type of file to your PDF document if you need to send a corresponding file along with your PDF document. Find out how you can utilize the power of Adobe Acrobat by attaching other files to your PDF document.
    Difficulty: Easy
    Instructions
    Things You'll Need:
    Adobe Acrobat 8
Start Adobe Acrobat, and open a PDF document to which you would like to attach an additional file.
Choose the "View" menu, point to "Navigation Panels" and click to select "Attachments" so a checkmark appears before the selection and the attachment navigation panel opens at the bottom of the screen.
Click the "Add" button at the top of the attachment navigation panel to open the "Add Attachment" dialog box.
Use the "Look in" drop-down list and click on your computer files in the "Attach a File" dialog box to browse to find the file you have saved and want to attach to the open PDF document.
Click to select the file you want to attach, and click the "Open" button to close the "Add Attachment" dialog box and add the file to the attachment navigation panel. The file is now attached to the open PDF document and will be included any time the PDF document is opened or emailed.

    Hi Graffiti
Collaboratively some co workers and I figured out a roundabout way to attach files in adobe reader (not the full blow adobe acrobat reader).
Via Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro I created a blank form with the "comment/mark up" tools enabled.  Then I merged that file with the other PDF form that was formatted with fields, radial buttons etc.
I had to create the blank form for the attachments separately because if I tried to enable the "comment/mark up' tool on the form with fields and radial buttons it disabled the fields.
Once created separately and then merged the functionality worked.  Does that make sense?
The comment markup tool then allowed me to attach files via the "attach file as a comment" option.
With all that said.... I would like to know if this functionality works in all versions of Adobe reader and if not at which level it will not.
In addition, is there a way to make sure that the "comment/mark up tool bar" automatically populates when the form is opened.  This would be helpful, as otherwise will have to walk our users through additional steps.
    Do you have any ideas???
    Thanks for your feedback!
