Email attachments do not close

had several different format email attachments (XLS, DOC, PDF) and when I leave them open, or read them in another app I am unable to close the attachment in mail and access the inbox as the Done button will not appear.
I've tried what works in (Goodreader) touching the center of the screen, but the only resolution seems to be restarted the iPad. Not a good solution!
Any better answers?

If you open the attachment in another program (ie Goodreader, Numbers, Pages), then go back to Mail you cannot close the attachment. The bar at the top doesnt re-appear.
I have opened doc, docx, xls and PDF files from email attachments and all open and close fine. When I close the app that reads the attachment and go back to mail, my bar is generally still open at the top. If it is not, I just have to tap the top of the attachment and the bar re-appears.
Is it possible you have opened a multi-page document and scrolled down where the bar no longer shows up? Try scrolling up and tap at the top to make the bar appear.

Running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron. Email attachments will not open on any emails, they will open in IE. In the past it would only happen on once in a while but then it would just be a gray box where a pic would be. Now no attachments will open.

A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (''Site Identification'' icon) on the left side of the location bar and click the "More Information" button.
This will open the Security tab of the ''Page Info'' window (also accessible via Tools > Page Info).
Go to the ''Media'' tab of that Page Info window.
Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow.
If an image is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box ''Block Images from...'' then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

I have the same complaint.  Drag and drop worked until last week, 2015-04-05!    Must now do one at a time through the ATTACH button at top of E-mail.   Why change a good process?

  • Email attachments disappearing / not loading

Many of my co-workers are experiencing this issue (along with me) that email attachments disappear after you click on the 'download full attachment' button in the email.  This happens on iphone as well as ipads.  Once the attachment disappears, you can't ever get it to show up again in the email on the device.   How do we fix this?

Once again, I wasn't criticizing. I am curious. I don't understand why people are interested in this feature and would like to know why so that I can possibly make better suggestions. But, if rather than answer a simple question, you want to cast aspersions, obviously you're not the person I should be asking.
    Best of luck.

  • Email attachments do not open when I click on attachment?

Thunderbird does not play video. You need to correct software to open the file types you are being sent.

  • Email attachments would not download

Since I have changed my Blackberry to a Torch 9800 (it look like it was from that time) I can't have access to attachments on emails. I have 4 different servers of different type and the same problem goes for all 4. When I try to open an attachment, a red clock showing that it is down loading shows up but nothing opens. Even if I try forcing it, same thing... I saw Bell support people and they say it is Blackberry problem... Please help ! Thks,

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS configuration for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support, who can escalate into RIM if needed (it seems they were not offering that to you last time you spoke with them).
    Good luck!

  • MS Word email attachments do not open on my E6

When I receive a MS Word attachment via email and try to open it, I get a "Unable to open. Attachment file not supported" message. When I use QuickOffice and access my Dropbox, I can open any document and make edits. Does anyone have an idea what could be happening? Just some background info, here in the  US the MS App update and Belle Refresh has not been made available so I working with initial Belle release to the E6.

have you tried downloading and using Picsel Smart Office that is available in the Nokia Store for your device? I used that on my N8 on Belle and found it to be much better than MS Apps / Office and QuickOffice.

  • .pdf, Word, and Excel email attachments are not recognized

I have something very weird happen. For the past 2 weeks or so, when I recieve a pdf file as an email attachment, and I try to open it I get a message that the file is corrupt. If I go to my husband's PC, I can open the file, which means it is not corrupt. I have tried with Preview (and Acrobat Adobe Pro 9.2.0) to double-click the file, no result. I have also saved on the desktop, and double-clicked; lastly, I tried to open from within both Preview and Acrobat. Nothing makes the files open. I had some of the files resent, as I wanted to make sure, nothing works.
Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Also, files I have saved on the HD a while back open without any problems whatsoever.
    Thanks for any feedback.

If they're really PDF files have whoever's sending them zip them first. BTW, what's with the Word and Excel files in the title? You didn't say anything about those.

  • Email Attachments do not download

When viewing an email message with an attachment, I see an icon on the bottom of the message with the filename of the attachment. However, when I touch that attachment to begin the download, it never reaches past 0% and just sits there doing nothing.
I am using an iPhone 3G with an Exchange connection to push my email to the device.

I have this same problem (the file name is there, but always 0% on the download attempt). None of the supported file formats (PDF, XLS, DOC) will download in my Exchange email account on the iPhone 3G. To test this, I set up a gmail account on the iPhone 3G and forwarded some of the emails and attachments from the Exchange account to the gmail account. They opened perfectly in the gmail account on the iPhone 3G. I can therefore only assume this is a problem in the Exchange client used on the iPhone. Anyone have a fix for this?

  • .doc email attachments not opening since ios 8 on iPad 3rd gen

Since the ios 8 update, word .doc email attachments will not load on iPad. They download from Exchange server and when I click them, a new screen opens with just the file name (xxxx.doc), a description "Microsoft Word 97-2004 document" and the file size. Anyone else experiencing this or found a fix? Thanks

i had the same problem reading a .pdf attachment. I killed the Mail app, reopened the app and tried again and it opened the attachment. .doc attachments now open as well.

  • Pdf email attachments won't open

After upgrading to IOS 7 the pdf email attachments are not opening...just says "loading" and never loads.

    Hi DVFFTI,
I'm not sure from your description if you're having the same problem I was having.
In my case, PDF attachments would only display as a single image of the first page of the PDF.
The only option I had was to Copy or Save the image. I couldn't open a preview of the full PDF in Mail or tap to 'Open in...' a different app.
Turns out that I had too many apps on my iPhone that can read PDFs, for example, Dropbox, Evernote, iBooks, Kindle, etc. even a Canon app for remote printing.
Removing one of them fixed the issue for me.
I remember this happening before and seeing other threads about this, so I don't think it's specific to iOS 7.
Give it a go and see if it fixes your problem. Hope it helps.

  • I can't download my email attachments!!

Please help, I keep finding that a lot of my email attachments are not available to download.
All I see on the header of my email's are things like:
    2 Files
It only seems to be a problem with BT Yahoo. I use a Mac with OSX Lion. I have asked people to forward their attachments to another mail provider and the attachments come through fine.
    Many thanks in advance.

You seem to be yet another one sufferingthe attachment download problem. The helpdesk told me 10MB was the maximum size of attachment that could be downloaded to MSOutlook etc.
However, I have had connection fail with e-mails having smaller attachments, so I am not convinced that is the answer. The work round is to log on via BTYahoo, and move any e-mails with attachments to another folder, this should allow other e-mail to download OK.
How long before this problem is the subject of a BBC Watchdog programme?

  • What program should i use to open pdf files, documents for email attachments. Adobe is not working

I can not open any email attachments-large or small. I had adobe and switched to internet explorer.  I do not have any other choices on my computer to pick from other than word pad and it opened the attachment but was not readable.

Please download and install the latest version of Acrobat Reader from the following weblink that will help you to open and read all the PDF files:

  • How to send email attachments in body not as file

i use btyahoo but i can change this. Im trying to send marketing emails to clients from ipad, i have made my flyer in pages and want that to show up in my email body and not as a file to download. How can i do this?
    Thank u!

    Michael-
Different mail programs handle attachments differently.  You might send a graphic image or a photograph as an attachment, and it will arrive as part of the message body.  In other words, your flyer might work as an attachment if it was created as a JPEG image or could be converted to one.  But some of your clients may not have the same mail program, so their flyer would arrive as an attachment that needed to be downloaded.
To do what your initial question asked, you would probably need a different mail App that would allow HTML as Allan stated.  I don't know if such an App exists for the iPad.  This may be one of those cases where you are trying to use an iPad to do a computer's job!
