Email Attachments/Downloads - Unsuccessful To Open

Hi There!
When attempting to open attachments or downloads, an Adobe Reader window appears with, 'could not open because it's either not a supported file or it's corrupted'. I realize this must be an easy fix...how can it be resolved?
Thanks!
Rick

Don't open them from the email message; use the Save button where it shows the attachment and choose a location to save it. Then you can open it.

  • My email attachments download but don't open

My email attachments seem to download Ok but do not open. This problem has only happened in the last week or so. Can anyone help me?

Quit the mail app - restart your iPad - launch mail again and see if the attachments open.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Email attachments download as ashx for Microsoft Outlook, instead of jpg, pdf, doc, etc. Tried to fix in Preferences Applications but still doesn't work.

Using MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. Downloaded Firefox 8 on 11/9/11 and now Microsoft Outlook Web App 2010 downloads all email attachments as "attachment.ashx" instead of jpg, pdf, etc. This was not a problem with previous Firefox releases which I've been using for the past couple of years. Can open files if I edit the extension to the proper variety (ashx to jpg for example), but no longer initially automatically opens. Instead I first get a "can't open this file" message.  Attempted to fix in Firefox > Preferences > Applications by indicating the proper "Actions" for various "Content Types" but this had no effect. Chrome and Safari browsers still work properly. How can I fix this?

    Hi,
I'm sorry you are having this problem, here is another post about the same problem, where the cause of the problem is described:

A bug has been filed to track resolution of the issue here, because a true fix isn't yet available:

    I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • EMAIL ATTACHMENTS NO LONGER HAVE OPEN OPTION (ONLY...

I am using BT email (I have Windows 8.1), and last week by email suddenly stopped offering the Open attacment option, and I could only Save the attachment . I have contacted BT Live help and they recommended re-setting Internet options (which I have done), checking Security levels (done) and also trying Google Chrome then opening emails through it.  I have tried to install Google Chrome but this does not allow me to "Run" it (again only offering the Save option).
Can anyone help please?. Incidentally I did try my emails today in Outlook and they can download correctly there, but I prefer  the BT set up. Also my BT email works fine for attachments on our laptop.

hi I have tried looking at BT emails through Chrome but I still have the same problem. Also the images for emails are no longer showing, even though I have checked the Mail Options (there is no "Show images" button either on these emails).
I have also tried troubleshooting via the Control panel but nothing has changed. I am able to Save the attachments via a temporary file then open them that way, but as I have a lot , this is not Ideal.
many thanks for any suggestions (please!)

  • Automatic email attachments download ?

    Hello everybody,
I just have a little question regarding email attachements on the iPhone.
The User Manual page 48 states that to download an email attachements you have to open the email and click on the attachment. Then the attachement download process starts.
However I have heard iPhone users saying that as soon as you open an email with an attachement in it the iPhone Mail application automatically starts to download it?
Could you please give me your feedback on that?
Thank you very much in advance

    no one ?
In fact I am travelling quite lot so this info is crucial for me as I do not want to have enormous EDGE consumption abroad?
Depending on the answer I will or willnot get an iPhone.
So If someone could be so kind to make this little test for me.
    Thank you so much

  • How to stop email attachments downloading?

    Hi
I have a POP3 account and regularly get large image files sent to me that I don't need to view until I get home. I do need to be able to check the rest of my emails though. Is there a way i can stop the iPhone downloading attachments, or place a size limit on any attachments it downloads.
If I'm abroad I'd still want data roaming because I'd like to check emails, but the bill for attachments will be horrific?
    Cheers

    No there isn't.

  • Email Attachments Download as ".xla"

When I receive emailed Excel files via my web browser and I proceed to download them, they automaticly download as ".xla" instead of ".xls".
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

    Hello
    I don't use XL.
If my memory is not too bad .xla is the name extension dedicated to extensions like VBA scripts.

  • Word documents in email attachments, how do I open them

My employer uses Microsoft Outlook and Word, etc.  When someone attaches a file to an email it is in MSWord, I used to be able to open it and use/read it.  Now I can not, I have upgraded to OS Maverick, is this the problem?  TIA

Do you have MS Office on your Mac? The latest Mac version is Office 2011.
If not, try one of the open-source (and free) Office-compatible productivity suites; I Like LibreOffice:
    http://www.libreoffice.org/
If you already have Office on your Mac, then something more serious is afoot. Please tell us the kind of Mac you have, the Mac OSX version, and the version of Office you have.
One scenario: You had Office 2004 and Mac OS 10.6.8 when you could open Word files. Office 2004 only runs in 10.6 because 10.6 has emulation software to let older software run on an Intel Mac. That emulator disappeared with OS 10.7. If you upgraded directly from 10.6 to 10.9 Mavericks, that would cause you to loose the ability to open Office files.
The cure for that sceanrio: buy the current version of Office:Mac.

  • Email attachments - recipients can't open them

    Hi
    Can anyone help me?
No matter which format my pages attachments are in - recipients can't open them.
I use a gmail account to send them.
Had an appointment at a Genius Bar the staff took no notice of my presence in store!
    I am not happy!!!
    Help??????????

If you go for help in the Apple Store you have to make your presence known to the person organising the Genius Bar appointments. Don't just hang around.
Also whilst you may be unhappy and having a gripe, it doesn't get us very far.
Start with looking under the  menu. What does it say in About this Mac? Under Mac OSX is the version.
    Next switch to Pages.
What does it say under About Pages?
When you say no matter what formats your pages attachments are in, what formats are they?
Most people will not be able to read .pages documents unless they also have Pages and the same version of Pages running on a Mac because there is no Windows version.
Most people however will be able to read Text (.txt), Word (.doc/x) or PDF (.pdf) files.
If you are more comfortable with Windows and possibly Microsoft Office have you tried Word for Mac?

  • How do I delete the 19,000 emails that downloaded when I opened my email on an  iPad Air?

    Delete them from your inbox.

  • Email attachments try to open in Quick Time

Occasionally I get email attachments which will not open as trying to open in Quick Time. These are text attachments, not video.

I had Toast 10 and upgraded to Toast 11.  I would drag a movie from Snap Z onto Toast 11 to make a video.  Afterwards it doesn't open in Quick Time Player-version 10.2.
What does "to make a video" mean? What compression formats? What file container?
What settings do I need to change in order to get that to happen?
The basic answer is "any compression format and file container compatible with your operating system." Normally this could be anything from H.264/AAC in an MP4, M4V, or MOV file container to "muxed" MPEG-2/AC3 in an MPG, MPEG, or TS file container. Installation of non-native codec components will further expand the number of possible compression/file type combinations.

  • TS1506 iphone iOS 7.0.4 won't open/download/save email attachments

I just bought the a new iphone 5s running iOS 7.0.4. I cannot open, download or save any email attachments. This is critical in running a business when I need to view an image or document when I'm out of the office! It works perfectly fine on my old phone running iOS 6. There seems to be a lot of people with the same problem and no fix yet. Disappointing to say the least. Apple, when will you be fixing this?

    Hey Shaymom,
I found these these steps for when you receive an error or alert message when attempting to update or restore your iPhone:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Verify that your computer operating system is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after restarting.
On a Mac: In the Apple () menu, choose Software Update. Install all available updates.
On a Windows PC: Go to the Microsoft Windows Update page.
Check your security software: Note: Most restore issues are caused by out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software, firewalls, and network router settings or firmware.
Isolate the issue to third-party software.
    Update security software.
    Properly configure your security software.
Temporarily disable or uninstall your security software.
Temporarily remove any unnecessary USB devices, leaving only your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, the USB cable that came with your device, and a keyboard and mouse, if necessary.
Restart your computer and try again.

  • How can i download or open email attachments on iphone 6

    Hi,
How can I download or open email attachments on my iphone 6. attachments like excel, word or pdf files.
    Bichitra

    Hello Bichitra84,
You should be able download and view most attachments from within the Mail app on your iPhone. All you would need to do is tap on the attachment to download it and then tap it again to view it. Take a look at the article below for more information.
