Email Attachments - Mainly Photos

When I send/forward email - usually from other senders, the pictures or links to pictures are no longer available & become erased after forwarding - including when forwarded to myself (although no issues when forwarded from my Windows Vista). Im sure an easy fix but have found nowhere to resolve. Thanks! Rick

Hi Jerry!
I need to get a few facts straight to be able to help you better, I think - this sounds a little weird to me. First of all, you mention that you were working with email - is this a webmail system (like Yahoo! mail, Hotmail or Gmail) or an external mail client program (like Outlook, Outlook Express, ThunderBird)?
Also, could you please post the troubleshooting information from Firefox (menu Help -> Troubleshooting Information)? See the article [[Using the Troubleshooting Information page]] and post your Troubleshooting Information data here in a post, so we have more information to use for making further suggestions.
I have never heard of a "Firefox easy batch transfer of photos" utility - no such utility exist in Mozlila Firefox by default, to the very best of my knowledge, so I am certain this is either an add-on or some external program.
Here the troubleshooting informatoin would help, but you do have one plugin that could be the 'guilty' part - the [http://browserplus.yahoo.com/ Yahoo! BrowserPlus] seems to be such a tool, so please see in Tools > Add-ons both under Extensions and Plugins if you can open settings/options for this system and from there reset or disable anything of this type.
From your description, it sounds like a HTML webpage document is being saved instead of the picture that you're expecting it to save. A HTML file will have the Firefox logo on a document.
If you get nowhere that way, try to start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] and test - if that works, you will know that some add-on is messing with your setup, and you can disable all addons and turn them back on again one by one until the problem is found.
Please let us know how above works out, and if we can be of further assistance. Detailed feedback is appreciated and helps us to help more users with similar problems.

  • I can receive emails contaning 5++ attachments (mainly photos) but Firefox will only let me forward 5. Why? How do I change that ?

I will receive an email that contains 8 to 12 photos and when I attempt to forward that same email, nice red ink says "you can only forward 5 attachments. Please remove some". Yet I can forward videos with no limits. Happens every time.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • Saving email attachments into Photos

When I'm sent a picture as an email attachment I used to click at the top of the message and it would say "Export to iPhoto".
How can I Export to Photos now?  It still says "Export to iPhoto".  I'm dragging and dropping each one at the moment. Grrrr!
Is this a ****-up?  Anyone help?

If you right-click (or control-click) on the attachment itself, you should be offered the option "Export to Photos" now. I have no idea why Mail doesn't include that in the drop-down menu at the top of the message.

  • TS3276 Mavericks and email attachments with photos

I am using Mavericks and when I forward a message with a picture, several   receipents replay no picture came thru.  Whats happening

We use Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 and all i-devies running ios 5 have problems with attachments who include mutations.
Test with an Exchange Server 2007 made no issue with any i-device.
After hours of testing i came to this conclusion:
Apples announcement ios4 and higher fully supports Exchange Server 2003 SP2 is FALSE.
Thus all iDevices will be replaced through Android devices which have no problems at all at any version of Exchange.
That's cheaper instead of buying a new Exchange Server.
Sorry but i don't like to be fooled. Next time do your homework.

  • How to send photos as email attachments???

This is a ridiculously easy and simple question but I'm a mac newbie and can't figure out how to send photos as email attachments, not embed them in the body of the email. Every time I go to send a picture or group of pictures from i-photo an email message opens....the pictures are embedded in the body of the email and that's how they appear to receipients. In a test, I've sent them to a PC...the message comes through just fine but the photos don't have separate attachments that I can click on and "save as." they come through as bitmap files. Any ideas? THANK YOU.

It will not ALWAYS fix the problem that this topic is about; I had my Mail preferences set to send as Plain Text and it did not fix the problem. Additionally, since there is NOT an option in Iphoto as you previously noted, it might be confusing to some people.
However, for those of you who have the same problem, there seems to be a solution that worked for me. I also had the problem that Mail was overriding my sizing preference when I selected them in Iphoto (share > email) and always sending them as small instead of medium as I preferred.
Since it seems that sometimes Mail does not deploy the plain text default so you need to kick start it to remember. This is how I did it....
    - Select the photos you want and hit SHARE > EMAIL in Iphoto
    - Now, in Mail click on the photo browser button
    - Find another photo in Iphoto via the browser and drag and drop it into the email that you're composing
    - You'll see a size option appear in the bottom right hand corner
    - Playing around with the sizing option a few times kicked it into gear and it seems to be working better since then
I hope that helps anyone who has had the same problem.

  • Trouble sending email attachments or using photo mail

Hi. I have Elements 6.0 and I'm using a HP computer with Vista. Starting about three days ago (for sure that I know of), I have not been able to send pictures by email attachment or photo mail in SHARE. I have been able to send pictures without problems in the past. When I "send" the pictures, everything looks fine (counting down of pictures sent displays and disappears as usual). When I pull down "find" and then "by history" and then "emailed to", its says my emails have been sent and how many pictures I have sent.
So, that is my question. What has happened that I can't send email attachments anymore and how can I fix it?
Thank you for any help or suggestions!
    Laura

Well I had a brief moment of elation this am. All 26 of the test images I mailed to myself showed up in my mail box and my husbands. Thought it was all fixed. Tried to mail another and so far have not received it. Is it possible that the speed of delivery is REALLY slow? There has always been an inordinate lag time in receipt; about 7 to 10 minutes. But 3 days seems a little ridiculous. In the mean time I registered for the free adobe photoshop. It is bare bones, really easy, and it works. Their email does not have imbedded photos, but it does work. Just go to photoshop.com.

  • How do I send soft copy attachments of photos via email to windows user

Help , need to send soft copy  attachments of photos via email to windows operator . thanks

Not sure what you mean by soft copy attachments. But to help ensure Windows users have no problem coping with attachments from Mail Control+Click on the attachment that displays as an inline image and select 'View as Icon'. Also, in Mail>Edit>Attachments make sure 'Always send Windows-friendly attachments' is ticked.

  • Sending photos as eMail attachments

I use a PC and have Adobe Premier Elements 9 - I am having trouble sending photos as eMail attachments.  I am totally lost.  This should not be this difficult.  Help!

    Robert
No problem. Glad you asked. Gave me a chance to check up on what is going on with my Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 and its Elements Organizer 9.
I was ready to call it a day when the email from Adobe with the verification code arrived in my regular gmail email INBOX. So a gmail address should work.
Please go through the steps already mentioned in post 3 and wait for the email to arrived. It took about 1/2 hour in my case.
When the email arrives copy the verification code in the email.
Open the Elements Organizer and go to Share/E-Mail Attachment or Photo Mail. Go through the paces of setting up the email for sending in this area.
Before you get to the end where there is the email with a Send button ready for you to hit, there will be a pop up asking for the verification code.
Paste the verification code (from the email that you just received)  in the verification field of the pop up. Click OK, and move forward in sending
the email by pressing the Send button in the completed email with attachments.
Later you might also want to experiment with Elements Organizer 9 Share/Photo Mail.
I had problems with my Contact Book for this task. But, if you have problems with the Contact Book, please let me know. If that happens,
we can keep away from the Contact Book icon and type in the recipient email address immediately before hitting the Send button for the email.
Looking forward to your results. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • MBP photo email attachments not fully downloaded

Just got a new 13" MBP.  I received an email with a photo attached.  The photo starts to download but doesn't finish.  I see the top 1/5 of the photo but the rest is solid gray.
Any idea why this is happening?

Yep! And if you absolutely need (or think you need) that functionality, it is worth every penny.
As Don already pointed out, exactly what the recipient sees will depend on how they've set up their machine and what unnecessary 3rd party apps they might've installed to display attachments the way they want.
In theory, that is true. In practice, Attachment Tamer will cause more of your messages to show up as plain-jane icons on the other end. The problem is, after all, people running Outlook 2003 and 2007. These people likely aren't doing many system modifications.
If I were you, I'd use the free solutions provided above, save my money and let my recipients decide how they will handle their mail.
    I completely agree.

  • Mail 4.5 - how do I permanently delete email attachments?

I'm using Mail 4.5 on OS X 10.6.8 - I'm using a late-2008 aluminium unibody MacBook with a 250GB hard drive and I only have 4Gb of available space left.  I'm trying to free up space on my hard disk and I downloaded Disk Inventory X to check what was taking up so much space - apart from my iPhoto library and Pictures folder which together account for about 125GB I see that the folder containing Mail messages is 42.8GB in size!
I'm assuming that this is because I've received a lot of photos via email but I've added the ones I wanted to my iPhoto library so I assume I no longer need the images that were emailed to me.
Can someone please tell me where I can find these email attachments so that I can delete them all at once - I'm hoping that I don't have to go through all my emails one by one to select and delete them individually?
    Cheers

Hi again .... The Preferences/Accounts/Advanced tab is set to Keep all messages and their attachments for offline viewing.
I agree that it seems strange to say that junk messages should never be deleted ... it was one of the settings in the article that I thought odd but assumed that 'there must be a reason'.
I had a look in my Macintosh HD/Tricia/Library/Mail folders - there would appear to be a great many ....
Disk Inventory is telling me that my Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Recovered Messages folders are the following size -
    Mail 46.4 GB
    Mailboxes 44.8 GB
    Recovered Messages 42.1 GB
When I look at the Recovered Messages data it shows 775 messages numbered from 260549 to 161324 with a suffix of .emlx - each one is 69.6 MB exactly!  Apart from these messages there are another 40 odd with sizes that range from 5.6MB down to 2KB.  I have the feeling that this might be where my problem arises but I have no idea what these Recovered Messages are.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

  • After my OS update I can no longer open email attachments.  What could be the issue??

After my latest OS update I can no longer open email attachments.  What might be in the issue??

    Quit Mail and restart.
Select each of your mailboxes and select Rebuild under the Mailboxes menu.
If those don't help, then reinstall Yosemite:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • IPhone Email attachments

Hopefully this will help others also. I contacted Apple iPhone tech support and was switched to the second level support (some very knowledegable people there). I was asking about the inability of the iPhones to send or receive attachments. Currently the iPhone can receive attachments only if the sender sends the email using only plain text format. If sent in HTML or RTF, an attached file will only appear in the body as either a winmail.dat icon or box with question mark icon. Neither of which can be selected to do anything. I tested reveiving plain text, html and rtf to confirm. For sending, we iPhone owners are only able to send from the photos section. I have also written to the development group asking for the standard attachment features you would find in a smartphone to be added to the iPhone.
Please corect me if I am wrong? I would like to hear about it.
    Thank you

I've received photo attachments which were attached to an email that was composed in HTML without issue so it isn't required for all senders to use Plain Text when sending attachments to an iPhone user but if everyone used Plain Text for message composition, the majority if not all problems experienced with the exchange of email and email attachments would be eliminated.
If sent in HTML or RTF, an attached file will only appear in the body as either a winmail.dat icon or box with question mark icon.
If you receive a message with an attachment that appears as winmail.dat in the message body, this indicates the sender of the message is a Winblows Outlook user that composed the message with attachment using RTF. This is a major bug with Outlook that Microslop has known about for a very long time and has chosen not to fix - which only occurs when such a message sent by Outlook (composed using RTF with an attachment) is opened/viewed by a non-Outlook email client. When receiving such an attachment - which will be the same when opening such a message (composed with RTF via Outlook) with any non-Outlook email client, you need to ask the sender to use HTML or preferably Plain Text instead of RTF when sending messages to you which they can do on a per recipient in their address book basis - send all message to rwmac22 as Plain Text, etc.
The winmail.dat problem applies to the sender using Outlook as their email client and using RTF for message composition - this is the only email client this applies to.

  • How do i open email attachments

I've seen this question unanswered on here many times - really need an answer. How do I open my email attachments in Firefox? Are there settings somewhere? I have Power Point in my computer but it isn't working with Firefox like it did with IE. Been looking all over for instructions but haven't found any yet. Please help.

Attachments do open immediately via my yahoo mail.
Really - now that's interesting because that is one of my pet peeves with my Yahoo Mail (accessed via browser): I have to download the attachments, they refuse to open within the message window. Especially one friend who likes to send 50 photos at once and I'd rather take a look before deciding which ones (if any) to download. Can't do it - can download one at a time, but it is still a download.....
